I thought this place was okay. We wanted to grab lunch on the way down to SoCal so we decided to check out one of the very few Pho restaurants outside of Merced. I like that they don't use MSG and I can taste that. Coming from the Bay Area, this wasn't the best but it was okay. The service was good. My husband and I visited this place for the first time..I got their house special pho and my husband got the steamed rice with pork chops. The pho bowl was really big...only $7.. broth was good,not much msg...the pho was okay.The pork chops the same. I think we would come back next time we are in Madera :) read more

I had a terrible experience at Pho'dera this afternoon, I have to say my worst experience at a restaurant ever. I had previously tried eating here a couple days ago but when we arrived on a Saturday evening there were three other tables who looked like they hadn't been helped yet and there was only one server who appeared flustered. We were sat down but after waiting some time we decided to go elsewhere (we were quite hungry). As we got up to leave the owner/boss said, "We'll take your order right now!" We replied "No thank you, we'll be back another time." Today we decided to give it a shot. We walked in at around 3pm there was a different server this time. She gave us menus and told us she'd be right with us. She went on to take I believe a take out order on the phone& then after proceeded to speak with the boss. There weren't other guests in the restaurant. However we sat there again without being regarded for a long time, I believe she forgot about us. I waited a little more til I finally told her we were ready to order. I had a couple questions about some of the dishes and she was absolutely clueless about the menu. Her reply was "I don't know, yea I don't, knooww." and stared blankly at the menu instead of going to the cook or boss to ask for us. I ended up ordering the vegetable chow fun and my sister ordered the vegetable pho. The pho was served immediately and my sister and I shared it. The pho is nothing special it's pretty standard it's what u expect. My only complaint for the pho is that vegetables weren't fresh they were looking brownish. After 20 min we finished the pho and I thought hmmm they must've forgotten the chow fun but that's ok we were both full. Right on queue the cook rushes out with the chow fun plate. Visually the plate looked like a pile of rubbish. Same as the pho the vegetables were brown and there were barely any noodles it was more like a pile of brown cabbage and onion not very chow FUN. When I tasted it it was salty and had a sort of beef broth flavor. I'm vegan and I avoid these animal products. Concerned i went to the counter and told him that the noodles were way too salty and asked him about the sauce. He assured me it was soy sauce but he took the plate to the back I thought he might offer to remake it or replace it with a different dish but when he returned from the kitchen he said "Nothing is wrong with it we checked it's ok." I said ok well I don't want it. He stood in front of the table took a spoon dug it in the plate to take some of the sauce and slurped and said "Ya look see nothing's wrong with it it's not salty." After he ate out of my plate he had the audacity to tell me if I wanted a box to take it home instead! I told him I don't want it and rather just take the bill. I went to the counter to pay he charged me for the chow not fun and the pho. Outraged I protested that I wasn't going to pay for it. He said "This isn't an American restaurant. You still have to pay for it." Long story short after debating with him I got a three dollar discount and had to pay the rest. Complete bs. This guy and his servers lack customer service skills. The food lacks flavor and service is subpar I will never return to this restaurant and I advice you guys to reconsider stepping foot here. read more

Good Pho, pretty good service, and a good selection of other items. The service can sometimes be slow but considering this is really the only pho in Madera, definitely can't complain. Great place to visit. read more

One of my favorite restaurants lost my business today. I called in a large chicken pho for pickup, when I got home I realized the container had chicken and crab. I called them back and said I can't even pick the crab off I'm allergic. The woman assured me they would give me my correct order if I came back. My family and I decided to go out and try something new for a change. On the recommendation of a family friend, we decided 2 check into fodera. The atmosphere was very clean, and the woman who waited our table was very polite and welcoming. For our meal, we decided 2 have garlic fried chicken, chicken and vegetable soup, chow mien, and fried rice . The noodles were well prepared and the soup was very good, considering it's their specialty. Everything was good, but I did find the meat 2 be rather bland. Although the fried rice was spicy, I wasn't too impressed with it. Overall, I do think the food is average at best. The fried chicken was actually pretty good, but did not really stand out for me in any way. If ur looking for a place to eat hot soup at an affordable price, this place is worth dropping into. read more

93 and 94 are bomb! There is a hard working lady that ties the spoons and napkins together at a table. She gets the bags prepared with the little containers of sauce and stuff. Shes cool. They also have good regular green teas. And the pho is also hellla goood! read more

I'm gonna give 3 stars because I'm nice. But trust me it should be lower. I wouldn't write a bad review unless I really had to. I know this is a means of income for some people. That being said the house fried rice I got on Tuesday at 12:30 was one of the worst I've ever had. I'd love to come and help you improve your recipe because the Chinese sausages you used was wasted on that fried rice. Here are some tips to improve your fried rice. use garlic powder. use sesame oil. Do not put beans and corn on the fried rice. That's just silly. Add some green onions ...even cabbage is good. The carrots and peas are good. Don't even bother putting shrimp. (there was like 2 shrimp on my fried rice...why bother) Grill the chicken...don't add the deep fried chicken you have pre-made to make whatever other chicken dishes you make. I'm not sure why the eggs were orange...but what ever it is, don't do that. If you choose to improve the recipe let me know I'd be happy to give you guys a second chance. read more

The food is great, however, the portioning is not worth the price you pay. I ordered the house special and it had more soup than the actual ingredients. I pretty much got the scraps off the bottom of the pot. For the smoothies, you're better of going to jamba juice (that's if they got one here in madera). As for the waitresses, I've gotten the ordinary vietnamese aura vibe, except for the one tall chick. She seemed so bold, made me not trust her with my food. Oh well. Decent little place... The pho is a bit bland unfortunately, I've been to quite a few Pho places and this place was a let down. Had to ask for the sprouts, lime etc... I will be back cause unless I find a bug/hair or something equally gross happens I like to try and give places the benefit of the doubt. Everyone can have an off day. read more

I ordered online knowing there will be a wait, however, shortly after I submitted my order I got a text letting me know my order was ready. I get to the restaurant to pick up my order and they don't have a system in place for order pick up and in house ordering. So I go in line as if I'm going to order and when. This place is by far the nicest and most friendly place I have been to as far as Pho spots. Now granted, I haven't been ALL over the world but I am Fluffy so that should count for something, Right?!?! Lol. Anyways, Pho'dera in Madera a play on words has a great menu. I always bring my family and kids here especially when it's cold. Having that broth just simmer in your tummy when it's chili out is the best! Phodera has always been one of my favorite places to go to. The waitresses are all so nice! One of them named Crystal has been there for years and always so sweet and kind and most important patient with my husband and I. We love her as our waitress she knows the whole menu and answers to all our questions. Until last week my husband and I went in durning lunch and it was horrible! The food doesn't taste the same at all. There must be a new cook. And a new manager cause everything is changing looks like. We went back later that week in the evening and the waitress was nice but the food again was yucky! I'm sorry girls we'll miss your costumer service but my husband and I will not be back. read more

Wasn't impressed by this place. Lunch is expensive, and it's not that great. I got up charged for extra noodles I wasn't told by the waiter was an additional charge. With drink and tip you'll spend about $20 for lunch which is ridiculous. I also got poo dera afterwards, if you know what I mean. read more

I eat at Pho'dera regularly! I almost always order my food togo. Food only takes 10-15 min to be prepared. I can't say how the meat quality is as I only eat off their vegetarian menu. Vegetarian pho is my go to item I also ask for vegetable broth because u can choose. I also like vegetable fried rice I don't eat eggs so I order without and fresh veggie spring rolls. My husband gets the chicken pho and says it's tasty! He also like the chicken labb salad with sticky rice. Pho'dera is the only pho place in Madera. The restaurant is always clean. Staff is always friendly. Prices are decent and make for a quick cheap dinner. They offer boba and I've seen many people in there just to get boba. I have never tried it. This is the perfect place to pick up a Thai tea and a meatball pho! On the other hand every time I come in no one seems to be happy. I myself am a server and I know we outta fake those smiles sometimes to get threw the day. But I'm definitely not going to knock a star off just because people don't smile.
