Service is always top notch. Food is most always amazing and interesting. Today, however, the quality of the chicken was lacking. Nothing to do with preparation though. Food was prepared wonderfully. The best breakfast in all the lane. Anytime I have friends visiting, this is the first place I take them. The breakfast is truly second to none. I usually get the eggs, the hash brown casserole (MOUTH watering) and drum roll please... the wildly THICK bacon. Seriously, probably the thickest bacon I've ever had and it phenomenal. It can be pretty packed, I recommend getting there fairly early. But the wait times do move pretty quickly. I also recommend checking out some of their daily specials. This is the type of place I hesitate to rate because I don't like long waits for tables but the place is great. Everyone was super satisfied with the food and service. I got grits and chix because we don't have grits in the northwest. It was so good that I went back for a second time in a week and had the same thing. Decided to venture over to Phoebe's new downtown location today and check it out. Housed in a smart storefront next to the DA's office, the inside is bright, expansive, and shiny - a far cry from their original digs. The rest of Austin must have been packed into the Oltorf location, because we were the only patrons. I guess the word hasn't gotten out yet. In typical Phoebe's fashion, our service was stellar. And luckily for us, the food followed suit. My wife said it was the best French toast she's ever had from Phoebe's. I'm really impressed that their finished product seems to be lockstep with what I've been thoroughly enjoying from the Oltorf location for months. I'm a big fan of consistency. Phoebe's in general is great. Its only deficiency, in my mind, has been its inability to adequately house the hordes of Austin brunchers. Well, they've gone ahead and improved on their only "downside," so all of Austin should be able to get its fill. Make your way over to Phoebe's and chow down. You probably deserve it. read more

A 1.5 hr wait for a party of six on the Sunday around noon. We hung out outside and waited. It was a pretty nice time. The food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed each of their meals. We were not able to verbally communicate with others at the table, due to the volume of the music. The wait staff were excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the wait time the long was very good at informing us our status. They were having a special on the beer - full draft for $4 and it was a great bang for your buck. I've been here 3x and have gotten the burger all three times (it's that good!!!) I'd recommend asking for the habanero sauce they have, pairs really well with the tater tots. Vibes overall are really casual and homey. Only 2 things this place can improve on - offer fries instead of tater tots and close later than 3pm. But still deserves 5 stars read more

I had lunch yesterday and breakfast today, such a delight! I had the fried chicken sandwich for lunch with the tots, which were the crispiest tots I've ever had! Whatever sauce was on the sandwich was great too, I had no shame making a mess while eating it. Today I the deep fried French toast and WOW those suckers are HUGE! The sourdough bread was a great option for this sweet treat, I even shared with my friends because it was so good and it was so plentiful. Prices are average for downtown Austin, I'd say they are fair for the quality! I also loved the ambience of the diner, it was very charming modern with that Austin flair. I felt like me and my friends were the real life "Friends" from the show! We will all be back. In the future, I hope they will stay open until 6pm! Right now they are 7am-3pm, but I would love to walk across the street after I get off work at 5 and have a beer with my coworkers. That's right, they have beers on tap! read more

Had breakfast with my wife and kids and was impressed with the entire experience. We agreed this is one of the best breakfast spots in town. My wife can't have gluten and Phoebe's is very accommodating. She was able to find several gluten free dishes including fried food and gravy--definitely a rarity! The kids, who can sometimes be picky with restaurant food, gobbled up their food without complaint. Everything tasted fresh, was well seasoned and prepared to perfection. Our server Nicole was friendly, helpful, and out of her way to make sure we had a great experience. My husband and I visited Austin this weekend and my husband found this place and we decided to try it and then had to go back the next morning. The food is incredibly delicious. The fried green tomatoes are almost too good to be true and the sauce is a perfect pair. The bananas fosters is to die for. The slabs of bacon are perfectly cooked. The brisket is so tender and juicy. I almost brought some fried green tomatoes to go on the plane with me back home. We had sat at the bar one of the days and the drinks are very tasty too with some very sweet bartenders! Halle was so awesome! This is a must. read more
