Literally.. my childhood is now in Westminster! I used to go to Kim Ky every Sunday at the San Gabriel location and now as an adult I go to the Rosemead location. So cool that I just discovered Westminster has a location too! What's even better is that they have outdoor seating which means dogs are allowed! That's a HUGE plus for me. My go to is always the soup thick egg noodle and thin vermicelli noodle with assorted meat and shrimp. I also like to order the egg and rice cake for the table. Each dish is about $14. Portions seem a bit smaller than the San Gabriel and Rosemead location but it gets the job done and I am pretty full after the meal. They have so many other options on the menu like chow fun, hainan chicken, and a ton of other noodle soup dishes. The last two times I came here was on a weekday during lunch so there was plenty of parking. However, I'm sure it gets packed on the weekend since it is located right next to the Asian Garden Mall. All tax is included in the price so there's no additional sales tax line item. Also! They charge 50 cents for water.. other locations do not. I was surprised but oh well. read more

Was in town came here with my daughter and we tried out this place and it was very good. My daughter had wonton egg noodle and I had shrimp with pig kidney. And it was really crowded and very busy place. Came here around 1 and the parking was very hard to find because it's in a small plaza and it's very hard to find parking. Service is very good. Stopped by here to have lunch with my parents. They each got a soup based dish and I opted for a stir fried one. I got the stir fried rice noodles with beef (and soy sauce). It is a "dry" style fried noodle. The food came out quickly and overall was pretty good. My only critique is that it was slightly under seasoned and a little oily. Otherwise I love the "wok" flavor and the beef was good. I would probably come back again for their soup noodle dish - my dad really like his lunch, which was their signature dish. read more

Been loving this place from the moment I discovered it decades ago. I used to explore a lot of noodles restaurants in 626 area and I'm glad I found Kim Ky when I moved to OC area. Located in Asian Garden Mall, parking could be a little challenging because this place is always crowded. Expect wait times , stop don't come here super hungry. Being first time here, kinda overwhelmed with their menu, but took a chance anyways and sure glad I got some yummy noodles. I think flavor wise they're a bit more superior compared to TC and their condiments outshines TC as well, so it's not a stretch to admit this will be my go-to for all types of noodles. Service is prompt and the lady is very helpful with the menu since it's hard to decide what to order. Parking is not bad since we parked on the side street. Hands down, our go-to spot for hu tieu. Not even kidding when I saw we come weekly! We ALWAYS order the hu tieu thap cam with rice noodles (you can choose between thin or thick noodles). At first taste, the broth may seem bland, but you HAVE to use all the condiments they provide! It makes such a huge difference and you can really customize it to your liking. They're very quick to bring your order out and the bowl is always pipin' hot! Side note: they steam their bean sprouts so if you're like us and prefer to eat them raw, just let them know. They're pretty busy in the morning, especially on the weekends, but we've never waited any longer than 15 minutes. They also have outside seating available. The workers are all super friendly! Warning: they're literally right next to Asian Garden Mall so it can get a bit chaotic with the drivers. A great alternative to Trieu Chau, our usual teochew noodle spot for breakfast. It does open an hour later than TC but if you come within the first hour usually there isn't much of a wait. A relatively small but cozy restaurant with good parking. Food is solid, noodle broth is tasty, service is kind. Available condiment selection is amazing and far better than Trieu Chau's. Things seem to be pretty clean. We got our food quickly, ate at our own pace without being rushed, and checked out efficiently. Happy with our experience, and will return. read more

After visiting the OC/LA area, we're on the way back to the Bay Area, we wanted to have some lunch before we go. Some of the restaurant closed on Monday, one our friends recommended this place for real excellent egg noodles soups, so we stopped by, it's right next to PLT the big VN shopping center. There's no parking for this restaurant, the whole block has a few parking spots and there's parking on the PLT but always full. We had to park outside on a different shopping center. The restaurant is small and simple, clean. The owner or the care taker seems to be extremely friendly and attentive sitting us on a table. The menu has quite a few dishes, but we're concentrating on egg noodle soup for lunch so we ordered the special bowl of rice noodles instead of egg noodles. Honestly this has to be one of the best egg noodle spots in oc. I can't get over the fact that they literally have all these condiments on the table: crispy garlic, chichurrons, pickled jalepenos, chili sauce and everything you expect to have with your noodles. Like wowwwwwww. The moment I came in and saw that, it sealed the deal. I knew I was in for a treat. The shop is small and simple, with a little outdoor nook for additional dining tables. The service is friendly and everyone welcomes you kindly. The food is incredible. I love that they have multiple options when it comes to noodles. You can pick flat noodles, thick noodles, regular egg noodle and even different types of rice noodles. I always do half egg noodle, half rice noodles and it always does the job for me. They have a lot of different options for what you can have with your noodles and you can choose to have it soup, or dry with your soup on the side. I always appreciate a good Vietnamese noodle soup place! I got the Mi Hoanh Thanh (Egg Noodle w/ Wontons) and it comes with Char Siu meat! The broth was rich and not oily. I loved being able to customize the flavor with the condiments on the side! The wontons were pretty big and juicy as well. To wash the savory, I got a Thai Milk Tea which wasn't too sweet! I got the Hu Tieu Hoanh Thanh (Wonton) with small rice noodles and my boyfriend got Hu Tieu Mi Thap Cam (Special with small rice noodles and small egg noodles). The wontons had a mixture of meat and shrimp in them and were really yummy. The broth is pretty good on its own, but if you like it saltier, there is a condiment tray for you to dress your bowl however you like. I liked the fried garlic so I sprinkled some on top. Parking can be a bit difficult so I'd suggest parking in the back lot of Phuoc Loc Tho then walking over if you can't find a spot in front of the shop. The workers are friendly and they seem to recognize their regulars, which is nice to see such a welcoming and friendly environment! It's a small shop, so during meal times, it can get quite busy. If that's the case, there is a list outside and you put your name down to wait until a table clears. I enjoy their egg noodle soups, particularly the thin egg noodles. There are different noodle types that you can choose according to your preference. They also have other noodle dishes like dry noodles (mi kho), rice, and other dishes. I believe they're known for their noodle soups and I get them every time I visit. They have a variety of toppings on the table to add to your noodles and we love being able to add what we like to our personal preference. Soups come out hot every time and it's such a warm, cozy meal. Their dry noodles (mi kho) are also good and with those, you get some soup on the side. You can't go wrong with their egg noodles! I visited this restaurant today around 2:30 PM and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience, I will not be returning. I ordered satay beef chow fun, boiled pork kidney, and a Chiu Chow style noodle soup. Near the end of my meal, while drinking the soup, I discovered a large fly in the bowl. It was extremely shocking and disturbing, especially since I had already eaten almost everything. I have no idea how long it had been in there. What made the situation worse was how it was handled. One of the staff heard I was " iiiioooo" she immediately came over and took the bowl away without giving any chance to take a photo, or even process what had just happened, also she use all the used napkins throw in the bowl to cover the fly. Most disappointing of all, there was no apology at all. Even after I paid for the meal, not a single staff member acknowledged the issue or said sorry. Food safety and basic customer service should be the minimum standard. This experience was unacceptable. read more

Such a travel in time visiting Kim Ky Noodle House - I feel like we went back to the 90s, 80s even...to experience some old school noodle soups. My date and I came here and it really did not disappoint. I got to try their Choice Chow Hor Fun soup and the kidney pieces were delicious. This store is closed to the core business area of Westminster and it's popular with local residents, signaling good quality. Located in a busy small plaza next to Asian garden mall finding parking is difficult but will be worth it. I arrived on a Saturday morning and there was a little wait. There is outside and inside dining tables available. I ordered a combo dry wide egg noodles (mi kho thap cam), Chinese donut (gio chao qua), and fried rice flour cake (banh bot chien). -The egg noodles were so good and I loved the broth it was so flavorful also I loved all of their topping options they had fried garlic, chopped vinegar green peppers, and fried pork belly cracklings (and more but this is all I used). Other restaurants usually skimp on the fried pork belly cracklings so I was so excited to see this restaurant have so much and give their customers the option to put as much as they want. -The gio chao quay was very good and not oily like most and it was so fluffy and had many layers inside it soaked up the broth beautifully. -The banh bot chien was good but not my favorite it wasn't crispy enough and didn't have any radishes or carrots that the dish usually comes with.
