Wow! This place is fantastic. Dinner service at the bar was attentive and the food is delicious. It's worth getting the bread here (sourdough), folks! We came in shortly before happy hour ended and had the margarita pizza, fritto misto, and the chopped salad. Everything was tasty! As someone who can't have shellfish, I really appreciated the fritto misto didn't add shrimp or prawns like some places do! We didn't have drinks this time but another patron's lemon drop looked fabulous and the bartenders were clearly putting an extra touch of thoughtfulness in the craft cocktails. Came here yesterday for the first time since my husband and I were looking for an Italian place that opened before noon. We got seated quickly since we were still within the initial 30 min of opening. Once we got seated, the server was really attentive, allowing time when needed but also not waiting too long before taking our orders. I ended up getting their arancia ginger soda, a cup of their minestrone soup, the Manila clams linguini, and their roasted broccolini. My husband got their polpette sandwich and the butternut squash soup. The ginger soda was interesting as you can definitely taste the component. The slice of ginger placed in it was interesting though ultimately I didn't do anything with it. It's a bit unnecessary in my opinion. The minestrone soup was pretty good, but I wish the fresh basil wasn't on top since it would occasionally overwhelm the soup's natural taste. Otherwise the base itself was spot on delicious. The Manila clam linguini was okay honestly. Nothing really worth writing home about except for the fact the linguini was cut in a special way as opposed to the generic factory cut version of the pasta. The clams were a bit small so I do wish they were bigger. Oddly enough, I enjoyed the broccolini more as that was flavorful and cooked perfectly. It's a really good side. So would I come back? Maybe? My wife and I had dinner at Piatti in Danville tonight for the first time (we usually go to the Mill Valley location), and we were blown away. This is the first time I've been there since they remodeled. They sat us in an extra room by the bar that was nice because it was so much quieter. The rest of the restaurant is really loud. Dinner here was just so so. I've had good dinners at this place before but not so much today. I had the Bolognese and it was just dull. The spinach salad was wonderful. My daughter's dinner was something with pesto and lemon ricotta, but I can't remember the name. She said it was just OK until we added lemon to it. The waitress was wonderful and attentive. In contrast, my recent dining experience at Piatti was disappointing. While I have enjoyed the restaurant in the past, this time out-of-town guests were not treated with the same level of hospitality. The service was notably slow, with no water being served and an excessively long wait for our server to arrive at our table to take our orders. The service from the bar was equally sluggish. We ordered appetizers and drinks, but the empty plates were left on the table for an extended period. Our server took our dinner order even though the empty plates were still present. The dinner orders arrived, but no one ever came to the table to remove the empty plates. The server attempted to place the dinner orders around the empty plates, which was the first time I had to request that the empty dishes be removed from the table. Furthermore, the food quality was significantly inferior to what I had experienced in the past. The pasta was thick and "gooey. Overall, very disappointing. read more

I've come here for years and have preferred forbes mill and the newer Donho for a change. In last 2x months I visited and the food and service has taken a nose dive from what it used to be. The front patio service has been horrible not because the staff is bad but because the owner is terribly understaffed to save money. The food is getting just as bad. I have had lunch salads2 times and on both occasions the lettuce was broken and dry or slimy but burried in dressing so it was not noticeable and just recently it left a bad taste in my mouth for a few hours after I ate. The grilled shrimp on my salad had previously been frozen and overcooked as well because it took a steak knife to cut the rubbery meat. I was very dissapointed and so I complained to the owner and he said for better service always request the back patio because they have more service. Even when He saw me paying my check he never considered a comp for the salad though I was very clear about my experience for food and service. To this gentleman just know that Money is the most important factor over food and service. and we felt the other ingredients were from package and not fresh like canned crispy onions from Costco or bagged lettuce. I will never return ever again. It has become an overrated Fridays. I am hoping some of the good staff will move to other high quality restaurants in the plaza so we can continue to see them. read more

Piatti is opened again! Made a last minute reso within the same hour for lunch. 1st time here since the remodeled. The interior was nicely done with the olive green velvet booths and dimmed lights in the back. The restrooms definitely had a makeover. Wow. Onto the food. Still delicious as ever. Really lovely staff and food! We had reservations outside, and the server noticed that it was very windy and dusty. He worked with the host and manager in order to make sure we were comfortable, and moved us inside, even though they were very busy. Incredible effort The food was very good! I did enjoy the bruschetta, the combination of the fresh tomatoes, soft mozzarella, and saba made for a great combination of flavors. The Lasagna was good too, but not anything special. Service was OK, our server was nice, but disappeared for long periods of time, granted it did look like they had a pretty full/busy Saturday evening crowd. The outdoor patio seating was great, I can imagine it would make for a very romantic date night setting on a warm spring or summer evening. As a local I know a few people so it's fun to dine at the bar with other regulars. My friends chicken Picatta looked so delicious I decided to order it for myself. Pete was on his break so a few of us tried to get food and drink from Stephanie but she wouldn't look at anyone and told us she was busy when we tried to get her attention. I finally got my dinner and when a friend asked Stephanie why she hadn't seen her smile at all she told us she was hungover from the night before. Who has a job serving food and drinks when they refuse to make eye contact with anyone and scowls at people sitting at the bar? It's a far cry from the warm and cheerful nature that Norberto and Pete always have. Next time I'll sit at a table because it's no fun to be hungry and thirsty at a restaurant. read more

I am a frequent at Piatti's. Love their food, the vibe, and usually their service. However, their service fell short on a really important celebratory holiday. I just got done dining there with my dad for Father's Day and I live in Napa so he wanted to eat some place special. The special was a halibut and it was pretty bland and disappointing. The bread and garlic dip is always great and Caesar salad is always tasty. The service for the first time was not satisfactory. I understand the busy pace of accommodating holiday needs, and large parties especially. It was disappointing only because I only see my dad every so often and it was only 2 of us where we ordered our food right away. Again, Piatti's is a wonderful place to dine; it was a bummer that the server we had couldn't "manage" the tables she had. This was my first time trying this place out. My man brought me for my birthday since he knows I love Italian food. When we got there, the parking lot was packed, but there's a steak house right next door, so I'm sure both spots get really packed. When you walk in it had a nice vibe to it. All the lights and decor just made it that enjoyable. The place was pretty packed, but he made reservations, so we didn't have to wait. We started with the bread and white vinegar sauce I can't remember the name of it but oh my gosh. The bread was so warm and fresh, and the sauce was delicious. I had to order more bread lol I loved it. We ordered the bruschetta, squash Ravioli and linguine. I must say everything was full of so much flavor it was amazing. Since the recent remodel, the management has decided that white wines offered by the glass must be obscure wines. $16-20 per glass. There isn't a single California Chardonnay offered by the glass. One of my oldest best friend treated me to a birthday dinner here. We had early 4:00 dinner reservation to beat the crowd. I had the petra sole and my friend the lasagna. The petra sole was delicious over a heaping mound of mashed potatoes and spinach. You need to ask for bread which came warm with the oil and vinagrette to dip in which was also delicious. We also had the beet spring lettuce salad - with oranges, feta cheese and walnuts. We shared it as it was a heaping mound for two light eaters. Nice ambiance but restaurant can get chatty and a little noisy as it fills up. By 6:00pm the restaurant was almost full as was the parking lot when we left. i also noticed other tables celebrating birthdays. Tami, the events manager, was incredibly accommodating with our changes and followed up consistently so nothing slipped through the cracks. Had lunch at piatti's last Saturday. The service was ok. The staff was hard to understand and they did not pay much attention to detail and listening was a problem for them. We all had to repeat our order several times to the waiter, and he still got it wrong. Then we were delivered our appetizers. My carpaccio was ok, it was not served with thin slices of red onions and never offered fresh ground pepper, which I wanted. I should not have to request that. The calamari appetizer was ok. But the calamari was very chewy and salty. Then came our meals. Everyone's meal was good except mine. I asked for the New York steak very rare and heavily charred on the outside. It came to me pale and well done. I know how the chef prepared it. It was premarked and set aside for about seven to ten minutes, so it continues to cook slowly on the side of the grill. I wanted it very rare to rare. I guess the waiter either didn't request to the cook to have it very rare to rare, of the waiter didn't understand my request. Then my New York steak was very tough and gristly. The steak was from the first cut of the loin where the porterhouse is. The first three inches of that part of the loin should be used for a stew or stroganoff. And the fat cap was soggy and not crispy. The only thing that was good was the broccolini . The squash was ok, but it should have been peeled before cooking. I know you wanted to show the pretty colorful stripes on the squash, but come on! The creme brûlée was good, but the biscotti was chewy not crispy. They must have been refrigerated, or not baked long enough. I still left a nice gratuity. I hope someone reads this and responds back to me. I'm a retired catering chef restaurant owner and butcher for 40 years, all at the same time. So I know how to prepare cook and cut all kinds of meats and produce. read more

We decided to go to this cute place for a date, and we were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality. The assorted fried foods had a very light batter, and the squid was extremely tender - which tells me that's its very fresh. For the pasta, the noodles were very well cooked al denté, and my favorite thing was the beef Sugo. It was exploding with flavor compared to the bolognese, which tasted pretty average. My boyfriend and I went here yesterday after a birthday party and it was way better. We arrived at this restaurant without a reservation and we were told that we would have to wait an hour. We were seated in 20 minutes. We were seated in their back patio. The patio was beautiful and felt like we were transported to a different place in the world. We didn't order any appetizers. Back for another great business dinner. I was pleased to see that their cheese ravioli with the most amazing lemon cream sauce is now a menu item rather than a special. It is truly a unique dish that stands out for this restaurant. I split the panna cotta with blueberry compote with a coworker, and it was delicious. The atmosphere is nice. However, the tables are very close together so if people don't scoot right up to the tables, you're going have to squeeze your way out to use the bathroom. And I'm a petite woman. read more

I made a last minute reservation, but got my day mixed up. I actually used the Open Table and booked the wrong day. The reservation was early enough before the Dinner rush, and they were able to accommodate a party of 5 people. The lady at the Hostess was very understanding and was able to get us a booth. The food was good and I started off with a Negroni. I had ordered a Rigatoni with Meat marinara and pork. I had also ordered a side Caesaer salad without Anchovies. The Server was very helpful and friendly and he was able to handle our special request. One of the people in our party had to leave early but everything worked out in the end. The only thing was that perplexed me was that you had to ask for bread instead of them putting the bread (ciabatta) on the table. There was a minimal charge for the bread but it was really good.
