This place has a beautiful atmosphere and a great indoor and outdoor patio. I loved that the patio is covered from the direct sun while still giving you that beachside feel. It's also very close to the beach, which makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. My first impression wasn't the best because the male host who greeted us seemed very low energy and uninterested in helping us. His tone felt off, and I honestly thought we were going to receive poor service because of that interaction. Thankfully, everything changed once we met our waiter. He was fantastic and completely turned the experience around. His recommendations were spot on. The beef carpaccio was a 10/10, the whipped ricotta was amazing, and the spaghetti was hands down the star of the meal. I was debating between the linguini and the spaghetti, and he strongly recommended the spaghetti. We ended up ordering both, and while the linguini was very good, he was absolutely right. The spaghetti was incredible. The meatballs were soft and flavorful, the pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was beautifully seasoned, and the fresh basil really brought everything together. I would definitely come back. Great food, beautiful atmosphere, and exceptional service from our waiter.

Came here for lunch on a Tuesday around 11:30am. We were the only ones in the whole place for a majority of the time! We sat outside on the patio which was really nice and shaded but also trapped the heat. We started with the whipped ricotta - so different and lovely. Lemony, pesto-y deliciousness! Our waiter also let us know to ask whenever we needed more bread which was refreshing to hear instead of feeling bad asking for more or getting charged. Would absolutely order this again. Next we had the Bianca pizza. This has preserved lemon as well and was quite refreshing and different than most pizzas. We shared between two of us and went home with leftovers (probably because we also had the bread w the whipped burrata). Would order again. We ended with the affogato which was the perfect dessert. Amazingly delicious, sweet but not too heavy. They offer a happy hour and wine Wednesdays as well. Will definitely be back.

Great experience and ambience at Piatti! Located right off ocean Avenue by the Whole Foods. Ended up paying for meter parking, as there isn't a designated parking lot for the restaurant. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose the outdoor patio since the weather was nice. Was able to share apps, pizza and pasta. Loved the diavola pizza, the carbonara and ricotta served with bread as an app. Service was great. Food came out at a reasonable time as well. They make delicious aperol spritz and Negronis.

My family and I had a great time at Piatti. The ambiance and service were both excellent. I loved the linguine pasta! It was full of seafood and full of flavor. Our server, Misa was kind and thoughtful and the cherry on top was the Manager Don! Can't wait to come back and try more menu items.

The service was very disappointing. We specifically asked for the bill to be split based on what each person ordered, but that never happened. Instead, the server split the total evenly among everyone, even after we explained that we didn't want to do it that way. They kept insisting they needed one more person to pay, which made the situation even more frustrating. It turned what should have been a simple payment process into an unnecessary hassle.

Downward Spiral?? - We had made a reservation and were so excited to return to Piatti yesterday (12/27) for a late afternoon lunch/dinner ~ only to discover that, due to extreme and severe staffing shortages, neither the bar nor interior tables were being used. There seemed to be 3 or 4 people only - trying unsuccessfully to do everything, with tables uncleared and overall restaurant at about 20% capacity. Only the patio was being used - and only about 70% of THAT area.... I fear for the future of this business, given that despite limited customer patronage it will nevertheless have to cover start up, operational and long term expenses. Most if not all surrounding restaurants were actively teeming with post Christmas visitors... We cancelled our reservation and went to nearby Carmelitas instead - which was busy and wonderfully festive.

We stopped here one night after visiting a friend for dinner. First time here, requested inside seating. Lovely cozy ambiance. Very cute decor that does with the Italian theme. Server was great with recommendations and very friendly. We ordered Chicken Marsala which was very flavorful and a pasta dish. Pasta is made fresh in house....absolutely DELICIOUS! If in the neighborhood do give this place a try!

Best Italian food in OC we have tried so far. We were blown away the whipped ricotta and the linguine di mare. The whipped ricotta appetizer was so creamy and the basil oil it is prepared with was such an aromic and flavorful add. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again and absolutely will order the whipped ricotta. The linguine di mare was also phenomenal. It had a comforting sauce almost that of the same consistency and comfort of soup on a cold day. Unfortunately the carbonara was not a dish I would recommend. The consistency was too thick and the flavor profile was pretty lacking. The espresso martinis were also very solid! I have had better espresso martinis but I very much appreciate how the focus was on the espresso rather than on added sugar and cream. I would order the espresso martini again as well. As for the service, our server was fantastic! She was efficient, fast, and friendly and positive person to be around. I recommend sitting outdoors, the fountain is beautiful and there are a lot of heaters.

What an interesting little place! The food was actually really good, and I am sad I didn't get more photos. I had the short rib, and it's one of the best I've ever had. We got the ricotta and pistachio spread. We also got a Caesar. The salad was average, but the dressing was clearly Homemade and I appreciated that. It's well-lit inside. Feels really warm and inviting. The reason for the 4 stars? The service was patchy. Our server was very friendly. But the busboys were doing that thing I hate in any restaurant. You have a bite or two left, and are having a conversation, and they ask to take your plate. (I think this happens more when it's slow.) In addition, they would clear silverware and plates, and glasses, and another course was served, and we had to flag down someone to bring us utensils. Just poor execution on their part. The restaurant clearly wants to be a more fine dining experience, but they lack the training of their staff to do so. We will still come back. The food was really good!

WOW! This restaurant delivered exceptionally. The service, food, and ambiance are prestige. My family and I visited after a day at Main Beach, and I am so glad we did. We have two kiddos who can occasionally be a bit picky about their food. Most of the time, they don't finish their plates; however, they wiped their plates clean here. Our daughter had the kids meatball marinara, and our son had the kids pepperoni pizza. I ordered the Spinach & Ricotta Tortellini, and my wife ordered a Caesar salad. We both LOVED our plates. The salad had a good limey taste and the anchovies were a great add on. The tortellini was so flavorful, tender, and just delicious overall. The texture was tender with a slight crisp along the edges. The Italian bread with dipping oil, also exquisite. We'd definitely dine at this restaurant again.

Piatti is a fairly new Italian restaurant and a nice addition to the Laguna Beach dining scene. Although this is a small chain, it is run like a family owned business with Donny the general manager at the helm, who happens to be from the Laguna area. The space is very well designed inside with a nice bar and dining area- but the place to be is on their spacious patio We had a very attentive server named Lino who was warm and has a nice low key disposition We brought our own wine and did experience a higher than normal corkage fee of $35- but it was fine. Although they could use larger wine glasses for the wines to open and breath better We ordered the funghi pizza which had numerous types of mushrooms, onions, whipped ricotta, etc. Overall it was tasty The short ribs was the star dish of the night and would go back just for this. It comes with a salsa verde which is actually a pesto sauce, a developed reduced balsamic sauce over a bed of marscapone polenta. So good! We had a few other dishes that were ok- and the manager off the bill which was very smart and nice. They also offered us desert but we passed as we were heading to a party afterwards I am giving Piatti 5 stars as I want them to succeed and they are striving to be better and we had a good experience

My brother in law had booked this place for his birthday dinner. The food was great, especially the special lobster pasta. The sauce was full of flavor and pasta was perfectly cooked. Lobster was a little salty. It was really nice for the chef to come to our table to introduce the pasta dish. We had a large party and were great that we were arranged to be seated on one side of the restaurant so that we wouldn't be too disturbing. Our server, Bianca was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The service was really elevated the whole experience. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for both the food and hospitality.

Laguna Beach just got a wonderful new restaurant! We just tried Piatti and we love it. I am already going to go back in a few weeks to try their lunch menu. The restaurant is new and beautiful. The staff is very attentive and the food is delightful. We tried the Marguerite pizza and it is divine. The calamari mix is also interesting in a good way. We then had their chopped salad, which was good, but they could use less dressing. But it wasn't a big deal. And finally, their lasagna is amazing. Again, my husband judges any Italian restaurants he goes to by their lasagna and they knocked it out of the park. Jesse was our waiter and we give him five stars for sure. Overall, if you want some wonderful Italian food, you must try this restaurant. A note on parking. Street parking with the meter and public parking lots costs the same per hour. So whether you get street parking or at a parking lot it's about $7 an hour!! It's expensive. The waiter told us he has to park in the residential area because the parking in Laguna Beach is very expensive. read more

I came here for lunch with a friend and upon arrival there was no hostess at the stand, I presumed maybe they weren't fully staffed during their quieter hours. The restaurant was pretty quiet around this time (3:30pm) so I assumed we'd have no problems getting good service and getting our food on time since there's only meter parking available so things have to be timely to avoid getting up mid service to add more time. Me and my friend ordered the lunch special which is a soup/salad & your choice of entree around 3:40 the salad came around 4:00 and the entree's did not arrive until 40+ minutes after we ordered, to which me and my friend were both starving. I kept asking when our pastas would come out and they kept saying soon, minutes kept passing by and not even an apology hit our table for the long wait. I had to groan about how hungry I was because I had not eaten the whole day, a server hears my complaint and offers me some bread. Not to mention they kept clearing our plates in the middle of us eating. Trying to rush people out in an empty restaurant is beyond unprofessional, my friend was telling the server to wait as she dumped food from one plate to another because he was so persistent on taking that plate. At last the food came, I was partially full from the bread thank god because once the pasta (ravioli) came out it was uncooked & dense. Completely disappointed from the quality of service at this establishment and the lack of professionalism carried out by the team. When you mess up that much and only offer a few slices of bread (which my friend was GF) that's where the likelihood of this establishment lasting becomes questionable. I'll be sticking to Romeo Cucina, in regards to Italian in Laguna. I sure hope this place learns from their mistakes and becomes better in the future. Bright side: There is no mention of GF options on the menu it self but they do have Gluten Free Pasta and Pizza Crust upon Request. Caesar Salad was enjoyable. One of the worst restaurants we've eaten in a long while. Ordered the chopped salad with chicken and what a disappointment. The chicken breast was thin, overcooked and tasted like cardboard. A few chucks of cheese, a few chunks of salami that was removed before consuming for they look disgusting. The pasta with pancetta, good luck finding the pancetta! Nothing else was good. Services sucked from the moment we arrived. We were not welcomed but directed to the table in the patio. The server was uninterested in his job or going through some major issues for he didn't even welcomed us nor made any suggestions about the menu. It was as he was being forced to work. The ambiance is ok, nothing notable. We should have left the minute we walked in. Do not waste your $$. read more

The staff lacked training. Our waiter was fine. I ordered a soup and a salad. The waiter asked which item I preferred first? I wanted the salad followed by the soup. Halfway through our salads a young man (the runner) brought a soup AND a salad. I declined the items. Very shortly after that he returned with the soup and my husbands pasta. We hadn't finished our salads. I can only assume three things. 1. They wanted to push us to finish and leave, AND 2. no one trained this young man. He had no intuition regarding service and no one trained him to pick up the salad plates. 3. They don't have an expediter because, after all of that, my husbands pasta was cold and my soup was "warm". . The check was comp'd, which was fine. We are unlikely to return despite the gift card. My hope is that they train the runner on how to prep a table between courses and when the second course should be fired. It's not his fault. He needed training to be successful. read more

I normally always leave a tip when I dine out, but in this situation, I genuinely felt the service did not reflect that. From the beginning, the service felt dismissive and not the same as what other tables were receiving. What made the experience completely unacceptable was what happened after we left. Our server actually chased after us outside and angrily confronted us about not leaving a tip. He stood extremely close to our faces while demanding to know why we didn't tip, which felt very intimidating and uncomfortable. It was embarrassing and honestly shocking. The server was a tall male with blonde hair, with two strands hanging in the front of his face. I don't remember his name, but management should be able to identify him. Tipping is meant to be based on the quality of service, and confronting customers in that way is highly unprofessional. I hope this is taken seriously, because no customer should ever feel pressured or intimidated over a tip. read more

We may have just found our new Italian favorite in South OC! The ambience is peaceful and classy... dining outside by the fountain was absolutely perfect. Our waiter was so pleasant and knowledgeable, and his wine recommendation was spot-on. We were here for lunch, and can't wait to come back for dinner. The food was exceptional: * Caesar Salad: the Parmesan crisps were next-level delicious. * Pizza: homemade, perfectly cooked, and truly to die for. * Rigatoni Bolognese: hands down the best I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Between the setting, service, and food, Piazza deserves 10 stars if I could give them. Can't wait to come back! read more

YES YES YES GO GO GO! I am from Las Vegas and find most restaurants in So Cal inferior but not Piatti . Absolutely Delicious, w/the right kind of exceptional attention & service to all the details plus great wine choices The service, food and ambiance is impeccable. We dined here both nights that we visited Laguna. Gio (mgr/owner) took the time to make sure we were 100% satisfied w/our experience and Eduardo/Alberto took care of our table like a boss & remembered all our favorites. I say dine here! I rarely leave reviews, but this one just needs to be out there. I want to start out by saying my family and I went to your restaurant when it had only been open for three weeks, The waiter, food, vibe, and service was top notch, it was a 5+ on all levels, we were going to coming back! On Sep 15th 2025 here was no question as to where to go to celebrate my mom's 77th birthday. We made reservations for 6 and when we showed up everything was good, the waiter was wonderful. Let me start with the Appetizers the whipped ricotta was great, Calamari was good, Wood Roasted Octopus was a bit chewy. The entrees were Eggplant Parmesan which was good. We had two salmon dishes, in which both pieces were burnt on. I tried to peel the unburnt part off mine to eat and my mom didn't even touch hers. The other guest had spaghetti with marinara and her pasta was way over cooked. The sauce was good. The short ribs were great. I would say the #1 complaint my dad had was being told that there was no sambuca or amaretto available for an after dinner drink. However we saw a bottle of Disaronno being moved around by manager or someone. I believe the manager on duty came to us and said that you had Disaronno and they got the drinks. The birthday surprise was yummy for my mom. Lemon is her favorite. The wanted to compensate us and by letting us pick two more entrees to take home. I mean with the quality of food, all I wanted was to have the meals taken off the bill, but it wasn't even an option that was given to us. It is sad, because the amazing service and food prior to last nights visit was top of the line and it was just a very disappointing. We dined at Piatti in Laguna Beach, and let's just say it was a big disappointment. We used to live in San Diego and absolutely loved Piatti in La Jolla -- we even had our wedding rehearsal dinner there! Naturally, we were excited to try the Laguna location, but unfortunately, it fell flat. Especially after paying over $300 for 4 adults and one kid. I expect way better! The menu in Laguna is completely different, and not in a good way. The bread and dipping sauce were fine, but the one in La Jolla is 100 times better. All the pastas we ordered lacked flavor. The pesto pasta was bland, the bolognese was just "meh," and the shrimp scampi tasted off and uninspired. We weren't even offered Parmesan cheese, which felt like a big miss. The whipped ricotta was probably the only highlight of the meal. The cocktails were average at best -- the lemon drop was overly sour and tasted like it had no alcohol at all. Overall, I'd rather drive an hour and a half to eat at Piatti in La Jolla than come back here. The Laguna location has a lot of work to do to live up to the Piatti name. The Pappardelle Pesto It's not heavy or too oily like some pesto dishes I've had at other establishments. The lemon gremolata gives it such a great and enjoyable flavor profile, as the lemon zest is the perfect amount and not over powering. SO. GOOD. Will 10000% order again. She took our drink orders--my wife and mom had tea, and I had an Old Fashioned, which was made very well. She also brought us an appetizer of deep-fried olives stuffed with cheese. I'm not usually an olive fan, but these were surprisingly good and didn't have a strong olive taste, also ask for a side of tomato sauce makes them even better! My wife wanted a fish dish with pasta and a lemon sauce that she had twice before on our last visit. Although they didn't have the exact same fish, the kitchen was able to prepare it with a different one, and it tasted just as good as she remembered. My mom ordered the meatball sub, and I had the Bolognese with homemade pappardelle pasta. The meat sauce was excellent. My mom said the meatballs were the best she's ever had--she barely touched the bread because she just wanted to enjoy the meatballs themselves. We also picked up some of their fresh pasta to take home. It's incredibly easy to prepare--just drop it in hot water for 2-3 minutes depending on how you like it, much quicker than store-bought pasta. We'll definitely keep stopping here whenever we're in the area. Give it a try--you won't be disappointed.

More importantly, after placing our order, we waited 45 minutes with no food, no glass of wine, and no communication from staff. No one checked on us. No one acknowledged the delay. We were given no reassurance that our order had even been placed. Meanwhile, multiple parties seated after us were served their meals. We understand Valentine's Day is busy. We are patient people. But being left without service or communication for that length of time is unacceptable. We ultimately left without ever receiving our food. A simple acknowledgment or update would have changed the entire experience. Instead, we left disappointed and unfed on what should have been a meaningful evening. I hope management reevaluates how reservations and kitchen capacity are handled on high-volume nights so other couples don't have the same experience.

The restaurant made the mistake, yet instead of reversing the incorrect charge immediately, they expected us to wait while they sorted out their own billing error. As a result, we had to put our credit card on hold and spend a large part of our afternoon on the phone trying to resolve an issue that should never have been our responsibility. It's unfortunate because our anniversary dinner was otherwise a great experience. However, the lack of urgency and poor customer service in handling such a significant billing error overshadowed the evening. Because of how this situation was handled, we will not be returning.
