    Mafaldine Carbonara

This was my first time coming to Piatti in Sacramento. I previously dined at a location in the Bay Area, which was probably over 10 years ago. Safe to say I was just as impressed with the quality of food and service the 2nd time around. I arrived a bit earlier than my party, so I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of bubbly. The bartender was very friendly and attentive until I was ready to be seated. I ordered the Mafaldine Carbonara ($29), which was flavorful and perfectly portioned. I love the fact that their pasta is homemade... you can definitely taste the difference. Little did I know that they had their own private label wine, so I had to order a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Not as bold in flavor, but very smooth. This restaurant definitely fits in with the vibe of the Pavilions. Perfect for any occasion!

I like a lot of things about Piatti's. The location is cool because of the after dinner shopping that can be had. Also lots of other great restaurants nearby. Piatti's sources locally. Lastly handmade pasta. I'm sold on all three. My favorite dish was their pork chops. Cooked medium with a delious crust. The pollenta added a punch of flavor and made this dish craveable for our next trip here. The persimmon Caprese was interesting. It was deinfirely sweet and savory. I love the original version but this one was nice surprise. The restaurant itself is roomy enough and has a bar that you can hang out as well. The seating was comfortable and very nice. I liked it a lot. Overall a great place to have inventive Italian food!

Grilled New York* ~ Absolutely divine and the service is just as good!!! Henry, Paul, Will, Doe, Claudia and the whole crew are on point!

Amazing experience. Gourmet food. Very friendly staff that make the whole experience personable and fun! Highly recommend this restaurant.

We stopped by here on the way back from Apple hill and were in dire need of food so we ordered quite a bit. The atmosphere was nice, especially since it was a warm, but not too warm night, so we could sit on the patio outside. The bread from the appetizer "bread service" was simple but delicious. The bread was cooked well and soft, not chewy or too hard. The dipping oil had garlic and was lighter and more flavorful than typical dipping oils. We really enjoyed it. The arugula salad was nice. The Nantes carrots were truly a vegetable blend. It did mention multiple veggies, but I would've thought it was primarily carrots the way it was listed. The carrots also tasted the best so I wish there was more. It was lukewarm which was also odd. The margarita pizza was okay. Not bad at all, but nothing too special. The impossible lasagna was great. As a vegetarian we are lucky to get one dish on the menu, but a full dish instead of just an afterthought feels like such a victory. This is honestly what drove us to pick this restaurant over any other place. The potato gnocchi was also delicious. The biggest flavor bomb was the pureed butternut squash with pomegranate seeds at the bottom. I wish there was twice the amount, it was truly the best part. The waiters were not the kindest or fastest which also gave a weird vibe at times, but overall the food was pretty decent, and there were multiple options for me to eat which I appreciated. We will be back.

I was invited to a special event and enjoyed an excellent and filling meal at this elegant little jewel located in the Pavilions. Although the parking can be kind of sparse, I was able to find a convenient location. Our meal included a soup or salad, and I chose the Caesar salad, and it was delicious. For our main course I ordered the roasted chicken, which was perfectly seasoned and was more than I could eat. The meal ended with a delicious lemon tart, which brought me back to my childhood with each bite. It reminded me of my grandmother's lemon meringue pie, and I had to take it home because I had so much food, which I took home with me. My friend ordered the bakeless chocolate cake, which she devoured.

Piatti is quickly becoming one of my go-to restaurants whenever I'm in Sacramento! I've been twice now, and both visits left a lasting impression. We came for a couples date night on a Saturday around 7 PM with a reservation. We were seated right away and offered bread with oil. At first, we thought it was complimentary, but later saw it was an added charge--something to keep in mind. Our main waitress was warm and attentive, checking in often. Some of the additional servers were a bit forgetful (like when we asked for new utensils or a bread refill), while others were incredibly observant and stepped in exactly when we needed them. The food did take about an hour to arrive, but given it was a busy weekend dinner rush, we expected a more relaxed pace. This definitely felt like a "slow down and savor" type of dining experience. As for the food, I tried the bucatini on my first visit and loved it, though I was told the menu had changed recently. This time, I ordered the spaghetti with prawns--while the prawns were tender and well-prepared, the bell pepper flavor gave it a bit of a chow mein vibe. The carbonara was tasty but leaned heavier on peas than pork, which threw off the balance a little. The ravioli, on the other hand, was excellent with its bright lemon flavor, though we wished the portion included a couple more pieces for the price. Drinks were solid all around, and our table was happy with the cocktails and sangria. Overall, Piatti is a beautiful spot for date nights, birthdays, family dinners, or even work gatherings. Just be prepared for a leisurely pace--it's the kind of place where the experience is just as important as the meal. Our Dinner Order: * 2 Spaghetti * 1 Carbonara Pasta * 1 Ravioli * 1 Basil Berry * 1 Old Fashioned * 1 Sangria * 1 Watermelon Margarita * 1 Ciabatta Bread & 1 Fritto Misto Total (without tip): $251.54

I have been to here twice and both were for special events so we had private rooms. The service is amazing and attentive. The food is delicious and the drinks were flowing. I love that they leave a bottle of water on the table for quick refills. I had the Arugula salad and Mary's Half Chicken. I love having fruit and cheese in a salad and the vinaigrette dressing was bright and light. Mary's chicken was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy and the meat was soooo tender and juicy. The croutons and cherries were a nice twist. For private events this place is fantastic. The pre-planned menu is simple to order from and the privacy is perfect for having speeches or getting a little rowdy.

I have been here a few times now and always had a positive experience. Service is always great and the food comes out in a reasonable time. I would definitely recommend a reservation on weekends because they do get popular with events. The food is good but I wish there was slightly more flavor especially on the sauces!

Wow first time here. Let me tell you I was super impressed!!! My partner and I came here and didn't know what to expect. I live close by and I've always been curious to try this place, so we decided today was the day! It's tucked in the pavilion plaza with ample parking spots. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating as well. When you arrive you're greeted by the hostess, we were sat down right away. We opt for the high top table, which I prefer because I'm taller anyways so I sat comfortably. Our server was super friendly, so sad I didn't get his name but he was super nice and very attentive. Asked us if we had any questions about the menu and was very informative. We started off with the carpaccio and wow. The flavors were so GOOD! it was spot on. The lemon and the zest everything just went so well together ! We ate that up real fast! My boyfriend really liked that too! He also liked the fresh bread with oil. That was super good too and I'm usually not a big bread person. We ordered the saffron spaghetti and the ravioli... omg. So much flavor. The flavors just mix so well. I was super impressed!!! It was so good! Every bite I had was just an explosion of flavor. I highly recommend you get these !! Or just come here and try it out. It's super nice and cute inside. Very intimate setting as well. Not too loud not too quiet just right. I didn't get any wine but maybe next time I will. For dessert we got the bread pudding and let me tell you... it was so good. Like omg I couldn't explain it. My boyfriend and I killed it within 1 min HAHAH it was so good! Overall I would come back, service was good, super clean atmosphere, fast, affordable and cute for dates

The first time I went to Piatti about two years ago I was unimpressed and bummed about the prices. I didn't have much desire to come back. However, I had an inkling more recently that I should try again. And I am glad I did. The ravioli is *chefs kiss*. Like extremely crave-able with perfectly balanced flavors and tender pasta. The lemon is subtle but also the star of the dish. The cream isn't overpowering or too heavy. It's beautifully crafted. And the nociono old fashion was incredible!! While I still don't love the prices - $28 for 6 ravioli, the flavor will have me coming back. I also loved the atmosphere. Elevated and perfect for special occasions or catching up with friends.

This was my first time visiting Piatti and I was there on a cold and overcast Sunday after a comedy show at Punchline. We were seated indoor and the place has a friendly, family yet upscale and put together vibe. Our server was patient and competent. I had the Carbonera which was amazing with the in house made pasta but a bit in the salty side for me overall with the bits of meat. I also expected to be a bit more creamier. We shared a side of the fall vegetables and they were deliciously well done with balance of crunchy but sautéed at the same time. I throughly enjoyed the fresh micro greens on top as well! I would def return to this location next time I am in the area!

With that context, we don't take Italian food lightly. That's exactly why Ippolito's Trattoria stands out. Nick, the owner, is there seven days a week. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. It's no surprise they've earned recognition, including: Best Italian Restaurant in Sacramento Best Restaurant Overall in Sacramento Beyond the food, Nick is active in the community and gives back, which only adds to the experience. We've enjoyed this place so much that we've chosen them to cater my 60th birthday for 20 very discerning Italian family members--many of whom we've already brought here, all with the same glowing reactions. If there's any criticism to address, it's usually from people saying the food isn't salty or herb-heavy enough. That misses the point. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. But when it comes to the Sacramento region, Ippolito's Trattoria is my go-to, without question.

The Standouts: * Oh my goodness get that octopus dish back in my mouth. Wow, I can't describe adequately the unique texture they were able to get on it, with a crispy exterior and tender interior. There was a generous helping of garlic sauce which came with it and the potatoes that were on the side were also fantastic. Easily the best dish of the night. * The Ravioli was also delicious. It comes with a herby, earthy pesto on top and a delightful balance of cheese filling. * Lovely selection of Italian drinks including alcoholic and NA options * Interesting bruschetta flight - 4 pieces of toast each with a different type of topping. The onion Jam and pesto ones stood out to me. The Improvement Points: * The AC was not working very well when we were there. It got pretty toasty in the dining room given that it was a Sacramento summer day. I would love to see the AC back up and running next time. * The Carbonara, while nice, was not a standout in my opinion. They have a carbonara, they do it well enough, but nothing particularly special - light on the guanciale. * Location is certainly loud. The inside was pillow-y soft, and when mixed with the salsa verde was full of flavor with a fabulous punch of garlic. The salsa verde could be put over a nice flank steak and it would absolutely kill. That said, the octopus was a bit *too* crispy. I felt I had to really chew to get it down, and I just wanted a nice snappy skin for some textural juxtaposition. For my entree, I got the Bolognese which was definitely full of salt. The pasta was wonderfully thin and bouncy, but I feel the chef may have had an off-day. My friend and I had to down like multiple cups of water with our meal which made it hard to enjoy. Plus, the garlic bread felt like biting into a brick. The inside was quite fluffy and soft, but the crust was simply too crispy. I almost felt like my teeth were going to give way. Honestly, I can't in good faith recommend this place to my friends, so neither would I recommend it to you. (aside from the pasta classes)

Crazy I say this as I was in a serious relationship once with an Italian lol. I know I sound like a miserable wretched human being, but its quite ubiquitous and a lot of it is not too hard to make. But I do like a good pizza and there are Italian dishes I like (ones I cannot make like Sardinian wild boar or squid ink pasta). First, this dining room is gorgeous, the bar space is really nice. Saw a handsome gent in a nice suit sitting at the bar, which was a nice accessory to an already elegant and dare I say sexy bar? I had a drink here and then our party moved to a table when everyone arrived. My colleague did us the favor and ordered some antipasti dishes for us and made good choices. The carpaccio was great (and I loved the grana padano cheese - one that I can have) and also enjoyed the tartara di tonno - which is seared ahi tuna. Both with copious amounts of arugula (my favorite). Great choices as I love raw anything that's well made. Since it was Tuesday, one of my colleagues ordered the pasta trio which is a special for Tuesdays. No idea if it was any good, but colleague cleaned the plate. My other colleague ordered the risotto (which looked great and I love risotto and can make it myself), large portion size and she had a good portion leftover for another meal. I had the branzino in crosta. The portion size for my dish was ridiculous. Fish was decent, but I have had better (in Italy fresh caught). Rooted veggies were probably my favorite (I'm a rabbit and love veggies) and the grilled polenta was so-so. My colleagues ordered panna cotta al limone and it was excellent. I am used to a denser consistency panna cotta and this one was lighter one but well made. I love limoncello or anything with lemons, so this was just lovely. There is only one kind of tiramisu (more pudding style) I like which is made by North Italia and the one here likely was the traditional tiramisu so I declined to get dessert. Overall, a very good choice for a business dinner. Food was good. I deducted one star because I am not much into chain restaurants and prefer to support mom and pop type places. I deducted another star because the service was so SLOW and while we ordered some sparkling for the table, some of us did not get still water and I recall not having much water to drink and its summer. Also, I think the New Yorker in me just doesnt have much patience, but it does seem the cadence here was a different speed I am used to. I'd definitely return to have a few cocktails at the bar, and come back for their HH specials too. This location is in a beautiful setting and I'd come back just to sit at the bar and quietly ogle which cutie might show up...

I loved my Paloma. We had the four coarse tasting. For antipasti she had panzanella. I loved the smoked corn vellutata. This was a cool smokey corn soup. Very refreshing on a warm evening. For pasta she had bucatini ala Traponese. I really enjoyed agnolotti. It was wonderfully light but quite flavorful. For entrees she loved scallops. The pork loin was great for me. She loved her desert of ciambella while I savored bomboloni. The staff assisted us perfectly with helpful suggestions and prompt attention. The only minor concern was excess noise on the patio. We're getting older so for us the loud fan and a few loud other diners were a slight inconvenience, but overall our experience at Allora was superb. Thank you.

We got the three course option: antipasti, an entree and dessert. I picked the porchetta tonnato ( pork belly salad) for the antipasti, scallop for entree and ciambella for dessert. They also brought out palate cleansers and complimentary prosecco for our anniversary which was so appreciated. The scallop was the most tender scallop I've ever tasted, it just melts in your mouth and perfectly seared. The ciambella has limocrllo macaropone, so soft and not overly sweet on a layer of olive oil cake. Reservations are a must. I booked a week before hand and there were limited availability. I would definitely come back for a special occasion! The parking lot is TINY but there are plenty of street parking.
