Reducing this review from 5 stars to 3 stars because of the service and staff. There were 3 women working, and not one was friendly or welcoming. The lay out is a little awkward so we didn't know where to order (do they take my order at the table? Which counter do I order from, etc). The barista I asked gave me helpful information, but not without seeming annoyed I interrupted her 'flow'. Then, when my husband and I made it to the counter where we were supposed to order, the woman taking our order seemed like she was in a huge rush to get us out of there - and there was no one in line behind us! My husband ordered first but when he wasn't sure what he wanted to drink she was annoyed and made me order while waiting for his decision. I even had to ask for a fork bc they were out of clean silverware and the barista after first making me repeat myself quickly dismissed me saying someone should be cleaning some, perturbed I asked and unapologetic that they had no forks to offer. Once we were done eating we weren't sure what to do - do we bus our plates or leave them here. My husband and I both made separate trips to get up and see if we could figure anything out through observing other people or the area but came up dry. I finally interrupted a woman having her meal who was seeing I was lost and asked and she said they like to have us bring our plates to the counter inside. We were met awkwardly outside with the woman who rung us up, who took our plates away - making a joke that 'it's not that she didn't want us to come back inside' - which would have been funny if we weren't already so vibed out of the place. In my husband's words, 'they were snarky'. Other than the unfriendly service, the (non employee) atmosphere was cool - and the food was good. Overall, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I don't think it takes much to put an authentic smile on your face and show a little kindness. We felt like they were not interested in having additional customers. Maybe this place is meant to stay off the beaten path and only service 'locals' - as clearly there was no patience for out of towners like us! read more

Best baked goods in Jackson! I live over the pass but anytime I pass through Jackson I stop here to pick up either a meal or amazing baked goods for the road! For my GF friends their almond berry GF muffin is delicious! Love Persephone too -- but picnic is a little easier to get in and out of especially during busy seasons. The decor of this place is cute. The Americano was smooth and strong. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was not my favorite. The green verde sauce that the burrito was smothered with, had an overwhelming lime flavor. The guacamole was good, but everything else about the burrito was average. I'd go back for the coffee, but I'd skip the burrito. read more

Stopped in for breakfast while visiting Jackson for a photography trip. Had sampled a few local spots for breakfast but Picnic was, by far, the best I had. The avocado toast was wonderful, fresh and light. Purchased the cinnamon brioche for a treat later in the day, wonderful. Look forward to returning to Picnic on my next visit to Jackson. read more

The coffee is excellent, to start with. It's the best I've had in Jackson area and in the top 10-15 percent of coffee shops I've been to anywhere. I'd suggest checking out the food and pastry items as well. The customer service is a good bit above average. Defintely diggin the vibe at Picnic, in fact really just lovin' everything about Jackson! Picnic has a cool interior decor and a solid menu. Cuban sandwich was on point plus the homemade poptart dessert was an awesome bonus delight. A great lunch/pastry/coffee shop to get some work done, and they even a small area that sells everday household knick-knacks with a modern touch. The food and coffee are fine. The service however is not fine. The counter person told us that they closed at five. This was at 4:30. When my friend asked if we would be allowed to stay and drink our coffee, her response was "we close at five". My friend replied that she had already told us this and she just ignored her.This person is definitely detrimental to the otherwise nice atmosphere read more

My first visit here was meh. My barista wasn't particularly friendly, but the service was prompt and my coffee was delicious. My second visit here, however, was absolutely fantastic in all aspects. I waited for a few minutes in line and heard the barista connect with each of the customers, myself included. Such a genuine smile as well. Little things like that really make me want to be a returner. In addition, my oat milk turmeric latte was the perfect temp and the breakfast burrito was HUGE! Talk about bang for your buck. So tasty and I love that they source ingredients locally whenever possible. read more

The ambience was on point. My favorite part was the decor. Love! The coffee drinks were good but nothing special. The lemongrass tea was fantastic. The food felt fussy but did not have the flavor to back it up. With that said, I would return just for the coolness factor of the space (and the tea!). read more

Okay, I love this place and it's incredibly dangerous that I live so close by to it!! They get their baked goods from Persephone (I think they're owned by the same place?) and the almond croissants are to die for. Favorite meals there are the pork and toast, the gravy and cheese they top it with are so succulent. It's a large portion so go hungry! The salmon toast is also really good for something leaner, with large portions of salmon. Not crazy about the nitro cold brew - they don't do iced coffee, it's expensive, and for whatever reason my husband always gets his latte first. I've always had to ask when I'd get it even after they call our name at the drink counter, not saying it's anyone's fault but it's frustrating when my guy is halfway through his caffeine and I've had none. Still, the lattes are really good and baristas really know how to do beautiful pours. Highly recommend going for brunch when you're in town! read more

Of course I had been dying to try this spot since it opened, loving its sister space Persephone as I do. Picnic did not disappoint: the lentil mushroom toast was divine! I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu -- CAVEAT: this may become one of several spaces in JH at which I will only dine outside during the short season that's possible (others include Snake River Brewery, the Bird, Bin 22...) because the noise level is ridiculous. Picnic's choice of both music volume & type struck me as incongruous with its space; please, JH, let's have some sophisticated spaces where stimulating conversations amongst friends can be heard!!! read more

I forgot to take pictures because I started salivating and needed to devour my chicken salad panini the second I saw it. Fantastic sandwich! They have kids grilled cheese, which was yummy as well! Their homemade potato chips are delicious! And their americanos are top notch! Really great, clean, and welcoming environment. Very pretentious vibe I asked if they had normal bacon and eggs. The lady taking my order gave me a funny look sighed then goes "Not here". Then our simple order took 35 min. When we asked 30 min into the wait what was taking so long. The blonde lady wearing the Cammo sweat shirt in the most sarcastic way looks at my wife and goes you mean the #11 we have been calling then sarcastically smiles. Mind you it was a sit down place and they bring your food to you. So she sits and waits there the lady then looks like a fool realizing she was dead wrong and our food has taken forever. Instead of apologizing and self reflecting how rude she was. We had the most amazing experience here- it's everything you want in a coffee shop and more. We stopped in to grab some caffeine and a quick bite for breakfast. I was so impressed with the variety of healthy and quality menu options that you can get for dine-in or to-go: I selected a breakfast sandwich which was so delicious, made with prosciutto and a scallion muffin bun. I also ordered a London Fog, made with coconut milk. They had a variety of milk substitutes for no extra charge, which I thought was fantastic. There also was a large selection of different coffee brews, from drip to Chemex for you fancy coffee lovers. I'm bummed that I didn't get to try the homemade soups on this trip, so will definitely be coming back to check it out again. If it weren't for the service I'd give picnic a solid 5 stars. The decor is absolutely stunning and they did an amazing job with the space and creating a comfortable dining experience. My only critique is the standing room in front of the registers is a bit cramped and people seemed confused over where the line is supposed to go, so when it's busy you have a mob of people in front of the counter. The furniture is beautiful but doesn't seem to be exceptionally practical. Our Lattes were perfect and the menu items force you to step outside the box and so far every plate I've experienced has been beautifully executed. We ordered two biscuit sandwiches and a winter pear toast for our daughter. The cashier who was a very nice young man who made menu suggestions and didn't make us feel rushed. We accepted his suggestions and ordered one of our sandwiches on a croissant. They both came out on biscuits. A short blonde haired women who seemed to be a manager but for some reason was serving food wearing a tank top corrected our order. When she brought our plate back to the table she shoved it into my husbands hands and simply said "here" and walked away. Aside from that it was a lovely meal. read more

Love the menu, decor, building. .. this place was incredible down to every detail including the walls, furniture, bathroom... walk up order and sit down for delivery.
