Four stars for a fast food joint in Florida mall! We arrived just as everything was being put out and fresh. Some of the rice looked like it was a little old but the chicken was hot and fresh. The burrito was delicious and the kids meal was a very good portion. This place was a great alternative to the other offerings there full of MSG or fried. We went to the food court at the mall and tried this place for the first time. There was a very short line compared to the other locations which indicated it's not as popular, but still gave it a go. We were expecting to find a hidden gem, and it was a disappointment and we could see why the line was short. The ground beef was disgusting, we ordered a quesadilla and while there was plenty cheese, it didn't make up for how unpleasant the dish was. Bear with me for an odd review. Part of me never wanted to go here. Do we really need another Chipotle/Moe's type place with build a taco, burrito, bowl, quesadilla? I thought not. We are team Moe's and enjoy their offering. But then, I thought "but Pico is local supporting a local family and workers to my neighborhood." So yeah, maybe there is room for Pico. And maybe I should be going here rather than the chains. So now I am team Pico and glad they are in the neighborhood. One recommendation. They've got a few hot sauces but not enough. Great way to start off the day. The food is a bit better than chipotle and they have awesome drinks.

I heard great things about this restaurant and was excited to give them a try. I ordered a hard and soft shell taco with a trio appetizer. Since I visited right before closing the meat was very chewy and the vegetables were stewed on both tacos ..but the flavor was good. The trio was very good. I loved their house made salsa and fresh made guacamole. The queso was too salty for me but everyone else loved it. I will definitely return but next time it will be much earlier in the day. Inside the Marketplace at Avalon, this is the Mexican cuisine offering available. On previous visits to the Marketplace, I noticed the size of the burrito and nachos and since I was hungry on this day for lunch, it was at the top of my list to give it a try. I ordered a burrito as I had just had nachos as part of the previous evening's meal. As expected, the burrito was big, stuffed full, and pretty filling. They had some medium and hot sauces which were appropriately accurate in their heat levels. Some negatives for me are they only have white rice, their prices are high, and the quality just doesn't match the leader in the walk-the-line Mexican places. Another note as they use red beans instead of black beans and there's only one choice of beans. I feel this is what a burrito would taste like if I made one at home. Nothing was bursting with flavor. If big and full of carbs is your jam, then you may feel differently. I feel I can get the equivalent meal at Chipotle for a few dollars cheaper. Unless they're making their own cheese from scratch and using pasture raised organic animals and have a garden of fresh veggies, I can't justify the value for the price. Even Moe's which I feel is overpriced at least gives you chips and has that salsa bar. The staff was friendly and rolled a good burrito though! I may try some nachos or something for another meal, but there are better cheaper options. This is convenient for being in Avalon Park though. read more

I decided to give this place a try. I got the beef barbacoa and I was very disappointed. It was very bland and not juicy at all.

This is a review of the new location of Pico De Gallo Mexican Grill. It had previously been housed in the Marketplace in Avalon Park prior to November 2022. Pico De Gallo and The Bakery share the same location at the front of Avalon Park. It's been a location that has swapped eateries many a time since we've lived here. For this review, I'm focusing only on Pico De Gallo. They have inside/outside seating and the space is open, bright, and clean. Pico De Gallo is deceptively simple, but don't let that fool you. The food is really tasty! They have a regular menu and a kids menu. On the regular menu, you choose whether you're having a burrito, bowl, taco(s), quesadilla, or salad. Then you choose your protein (steak, chicken, pork, veggies), base (cilantro white rice, pinto beans, red beans, or black beans). Then you can add toppings, like veggies, corn salsa, cheese, lettuce, and salsa's. They also have a few options w/their nachos and getting protein added to it. Some chips w/salsa, queso, etc... The kids menu is a flat $10. It's the same as the regular menu, but smaller portion and they're only allowed 2 add-ons (selected from the base and toppings). It also comes with a side of chips and apple juice. The kids menu is a sizeable portion. The regular menu you can easily split into two meals if you like. If you like spicy, try the salsa fuego on your meal - it has a great kick! There are two negatives to Pico. The first is that the white rice has cilantro in it. We're not fans of cilantro and unfortunately, it's the only rice option available. The second negative is that they don't/can't take tips when making credit card payments. I'm not sure why that is, and asked if I could leave a tip on my card. They said they only take cash tips. I don't carry cash, and was unable to leave a tip for the food. It's disappointing and hopefully management can figure out leaving tips. Definitely go in and get some food from Pico (and of course, the bakery too). They're a nice addition to Avalon Park. read more

I ordered on Doordash so I have nothing to say for their customer service or ambiance. There are so many restaurants around the Avalon area that are subpar at best. I'm really uninterested in experiencing any further local eateries after being disappointed in offerings since I relocated to the area in 2018 so I've dragged my feet ordering from here. However! *drumroll* Holy crap, Pico de Gallo lives up to the hype. Excellent, ginormous burrito. Apart from Houston, TX I haven't seen a burrito this large in person. Flavor was on point and was jam packed with all of the fillings I picked out. I shouldn't have ordered the queso + chips or the guac + chips as I didn't need anything else but I was unsure of portion sizes and wanted to get a better feel for the menu. The queso was on point. Guacamole was good. Chips were pretty decent, but a few were a bit too oily for my preference though I get it. It happens so whatever. I also ordered a horchata and it was so yummy. I love the fact that it wasn't served with ice so it wasn't watered down when my food was delivered. Needless to say, after this first experience I will be a returning customer which makes me so happy to say. Thank you for serving awesome, local food! read more

This place is beautiful and so clean outside and inside. The atmosphere reminded me of Disney or Park avenue. Such a cool/fun spot, Very kid friendly and the staff are so nice there! We ate some Mexican first which was delicious! They have the best hot sauce and the pork was so tender and flavorful. Then for dessert at The Bakery (the next counter over) we got some coffee, pastries and a nice piece of cake! It was to die for! They have a gourmet pastry chef on site. I gave one star because I couldn't give a zero. they served me 3 ice cold tacos. Horrible! To top it all off, when they remade them they did the wrong one. followed by one of the employees was sooo rude and nasty. I have tried this place a few times. I really like their queso, but everything else has been meh. The quality of their ingredients is not great. They also use chicken thigh versus breast, which I'm sure most people are fine with me, but not me. I much prefer to Uber Eats Chipotle for double the cost, even though I live and work from home five minutes away from The Marketplace. read more
