Now that the warmer days are upon us, this place in North Hoboken is quite a little treat. It's a pier turned into a daytime bar scene, with loads of beers to try, sangria and wine, also available. If you arrive early enough you'll land a lounge chair with sun blazing and you'll feel the breeze of the water alongside this pier, while watching boats go by as you sip on your drink of choice. If you get hangry, you can snatch a meal at one of the local food trucks parked just outside the entrance to this pier, to satisfy your craving. Depending on the day/evening you will catch a band playing some tunes, and that just makes it all much better while you catch up with friends. One of my new all-time favorite spots! At first I thought this was going to be like most of the NYC rooftop bars...pretty but overpriced and terrible/weak drinks. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised! So far I have tried a frozen margarita and a spicy margarita and both were fantastic. Not too sweet, packed a punch and didn't taste artificial at all. They have a large cocktail selection and a wide variety of beer. When you walk in you get to choose between table service or self service. Our first time there we did table but we didn't realize that didn't include the food trucks. Our second time we did self service, which was fun because we got to walk around and enjoy the views from all angles. They have multiple bars that offer slightly different menus and a variety of food trucks that change daily. It's a very upbeat and fun place but also very relaxing and chilled out--especially the closer you are to the water. My only complaint is how strict and non-negotiable their rules are with outside food. We came here with leftovers from dinner and weren't allowed in. Our food was wrapped up from the restaurant and we had absolutely no intention of eating it. We took the ferry in from NYC so we didn't have a car or anywhere to store the food before bringing it back to the city. We wanted one more beer before heading back to NYC due to it being such a beautiful night (we had come for a drink before dinner too) but they refused to let us in with our leftovers. I respect the rule of no outside food and I'm sure many people have broken that rule, hence the strictness. However, some gray area would be nice. If I had gone to the supermarket and had a carton of oatmeal with me for the pantry would they not have let me in? I guess they will just lose our business of an after dinner drink if we have leftovers in tow. Management should really reassess how and when that rule is enforced. We weren't trying to smuggle in a picnic...it was some leftover pasta we were saving for lunch the next day. read more

What a cool place! I really enjoyed myself on my first venture to Pier 13. Good music, tons of food trucks to choose from, a good cocktail/drink menu! It took me by surprise to learn you don't actually have to be 21 to come here. There were some families with young children enjoying the food trucks and drinks, but mostly adults enjoying the faux lawn on the back part of the pier. I ordered a coconut drink that came in an actual coconut. I saw her pour the liquor in but could barely taste it, the drink was yummy and made for an awesome pic so no complaints here just would get something different next time. We also stopped at The Empanada Guy and The Pizza Truck which were both delicious! This is the perfect place in Hoboken to enjoy some beautiful weather outdoors! read more

The food trucks and scene are the only good part of this place. The drinks are overpriced and not good. Security is on a power trip. Every person has their ID checked (no problem) but if you approach them outside of there roped line, they will make you walk all the way to the end just so you can come back to them. There will be zero people in line and they will still do this. Get over yourself. read more

I have been here a handful of times and my experiences have always been 5 star. However, my experience today was very disappointing. As you would expect on a beautiful 70 degree day it was packed and there was a line. As my girlfriends and I waited to get seated the security guards were extremely rude -to the point where it seemed like they were trying to pick a fight with my one girl friend. And while I know during COVID-19 places need to be strict with the NJ guidelines and it causes stress on both the employees/guests, their tone and male dominance they displayed was VERY unnecessary. It's unfortunate because once we were seated our server couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming but we had such a bad taste after being mistreated I doubt we will ever be back. read more

Absolutely love Pier 13 on the Hoboken Waterfront! I go here from time to time but wish I went more often -- we hungout here recently and I was reminded of how nice and relaxing it is. Me and a couple of my friends visited Pier 13 on a Thursday recently and went when they first opened at 4 PM, which was nice because there were only a couple of people and lots of open tables/ chairs. Generally, as long as you get here by 6:30/ 7:00 PM, it's still easy to find a space to sit and hang out. - View/ Atmosphere: One of the best parts about being at Pier 13, aside from being on the water, is the gorgeous and full view of New York City. You're almost directly across from Midtown with the Empire State Building right in front of you, and also have a nice view of Downtown NYC with the Freedom Tower as well. You'll also see the many boats, ferries, jetskis and paddleboats floating by as well. The atmosphere is also another big plus. It's just a bunch of folks, mostly young professionals, hanging out and having a good time. The vibe is very laid back and carefree. They also have different activities on select nights, like painting as well as board games laying around at times. - Food/ Drinks: Both food and drinks are mainly sold from food trucks at Pier 13. There's are two permanent stations inside that sell alcohol, mainly beers, wines, sangria's and some tropical drinks -- generally a fair selection of drinks. Each day of the day they have different specials, when we went on a Thursday they had the option of having mixed drinks or sangria in a small pale for $13. I got the Red Sangria which was plenty, delicious and strong. They also have a good variety of food trucks, generally with at least 5-7 trucks outside. On select nights, they have a food truck banana in which they have a lot more trucks outside. Just remember to bring cash for both food and drinks because they don't accept cards. Generally, an awesome place to hang out during the summer to enjoy the weather, views, food and drinks, and good company. I've also been to celebrations here like birthdays and going away parties. It has the space for as many people as you'd like, but ends up being intimate as everyone is hanging out with their own groups. Certainly recommend checking Pier 13 out! read more

I'm someone that doesn't do well with rude sarcasm, especially in a new place that I'm not familiar with. Upon strolling onto the pier, I didn't realize there was a line to get into the back end. So when passing the workers in the red polos, I get "you dropped something" and of course I look down and they proceed to say "yeah that's the line" and naturally as I was confused I said the line to what? I really wish Pier 13 would just start accepting cards so I wouldn't have to take out a lump sum of cash to order the $14 margaritas from here. On the bright side, the margaritas are strong, so as you make your way to the line to buy another, you're hopefully less sober and you start to care less about the fact that you just paid $30-32 for just two margs with tip. They have a decent beer selection. It's not the longest list, but there are at least some good beers/summer ales to choose from. During the summer, especially on the weekends, this place gets ridiculously packed. Have you ever been to shake shack in time square and had people waiting for you to finish your meal so they can take your table as soon as you get up? This is one of those situations, only people are hovering over you to hopefully get those lounge chairs you've been sitting on because they're tired of standing. The food trucks here are super cute. Came here around 7pm on a Friday . This was my first time here and I really enjoyed this place. The pier is very easy to locate however I Do suggest walking or taking an uber here. It took me 30 minutes to find parking and even that I eventually gave up and ended up putting my car in the parking garage for a flat rate of $20.00. I only stayed for 3 hours so I thought paying $20 was insane but anyways on to the actually Pier. This is a great place to come hang out and grab a drink and something to munch on after work or a weekend /weekday evening. When you walk in there are food trucks on the right hand side . If you walk a bit further there is a booth and the person there will give you a wristband if you are over 21 and plan on drinking. Once you pass this booth , it starts all the alcohol trucks . The only downside is you can't go outside pass the booth with a drink. The food trucks they kept on the outside which means you either need to go get your food first or hand your drink off to someone else and go get food. It would be nice if they sold food with the drinks as well. This place was crowded when I went, there was no room to sit or stand. If you stand near the railings by the water the guars will immediately come tell you that you need to move and keep the walkway clear. Which makes sense however when theres no where to stand or sit it makes it hard. Came in a group of 8 or so and it took us a while to find a table. That too we were able to sit on a half a table with someone else. So it worked out. Before I forget- This place is CASH ONLY so make sure you bring cash, If not you will either not be drinking and eating or you will end up withdrawing money from the ATM's there for a fee.The drinks can be a bit pricey unless you get a can of beer. I paid $12.00 for a pina colada, probably won't be getting that again here but the beer is good for a reasonable price. The only reason I gave this place a 4/5 is because of the food. I wish there was food on the inside because I barely ate that night because i kept forgetting to go get food or was just too busy drinking. I feel like there has been so much hype around Pier 13 but unfortunately I wasn't so impressed. I would recommend hanging with a group here but definitely not for a romantic date. POSITIVES The views are incredible Prices are reasonable for this area in Jersey. NEGATIVES I wasn't a fan of the IKEA seating, rather juvenile. There was also many children running around the turf. The pitcher drinks were straight sugar. The food truck options were not very appealing Parking is a nightmare CASH ONLY I think I may appreciate this more on a week night rather than on a Saturday night. Both drinks watered down and super slow service despite it not being busy. At least four waitstaff were just standing around by the bar with nothing to do. Ordered my second drink - a beer and a kid's apple juice and we waited 20 min for it to still not arrive (reminded two other waitstaff during this time) and it still didn't arrive. Finally we gave up walked to the bar ourselves to cancel the order. No apology, no effort to get the dirnk even then. Really beautiful spot to day drink. Definitely gets a bit packed on the weekends but if you go early enough you can get prime real estate with an unrivaled view. We decided to stop by after passing pier 13 many times and ended up having a ton of fun. We went on a Sunday at around noon and it wasn't too full but once it got to around 3 a lot of people started showing up. Their drinks are actually very good, and although they seem expensive, they don't skimp on the alcohol! Beer selection is excellent too. Although we didn't get to eat at any of the food trucks there the food looked very good. Hopefully next time we'll get to try some of them. I think I've finally had it with Pier 13. This place is truly a love/hate relationship. They now seem to have gone to a "cash only" system. You can smell the tax fraud from across the river. Their drinks are grossly overpriced and the amount of cash you'd need to have a good time is staggering. The ATM has a $5 service charge. I've been on cruise ships with a lesser charge. Luckily there is a wells fargo right around the corner. The views are great, the concept is amazing. I love the food trucks and sitting down to relax, but their execution has just slipped so poorly as of late. The employees could give 2 shits about the customers. On an empty chilly Thursday night my friend and I had to move so the owner's friends could have our table. There was 2 empty tables behind us, why make paying customers move? Hell, offer to buy me a beer or something. Seems this has happened to others too. The crowds have become obscene. Getting packed in their like sardines isn't fun. The kid situation is out of control. I would say 90% of the parents there should be reported to DYFS. The amount of people getting so over served they can't stand is ridiculous. Last time we were there 2 ambulances were on standby..what does that tell you? The bros and OMG girls have really taken over. It's so crowded you really just can't sit back and enjoy without a guy in a neon tank top falling on you. I don't care about people drinking it up but they really need to get it under control and the bouncers should really do their job. But I just have a feeling most employees are just the owners buddies. On the rare occasion you can get in when it's not packed to the brim it can be a good time with friends or family. But most times it's a fraternity party (and this is coming from a frat guy) of recent college grads. Will I still come here, unfortunately I probably will because you just can't beat the concept. I dig it. I like that there was no cover, which I was expecting to have to pay. I like that there's three different spots to get booze, only two of which were open when I was there. And I'm a fan of the five or so food trucks lined up out front. Unlike Surf City in Jersey City, you're not forced to have to buy frozen, bland, overpriced food. The food trucks give you both a variety and much better quality at a comparable or lower cost. You also get better views of the city here, not to knock the distant view of Lady Liberty at Surf City. Only three things left me annoyed: 1) The restroom attendant. Seriously? Look where you are. And if you're going to hire one, at least make him wear a tie. I couldn't tell if he was an employee or some bum off the street looking to make a few extra bucks. 2) The insistence on the bouncer closest to the end of the pier that people not stand within 10 feet of the railing. This must be because people walking the 100+ yards from the entrance to the end of the pier stand a lesser chance of going overboard than they do toward the end of the pier, where the railing maintains the same height all around the dock. Duh. 3) The prices. $7 for a 12 oz. can of beer and $9 for a 16 oz. draft. Mixed drinks are a week's salary. These people must be as high as the prices, but as a season business, I get why they are. Parking is impossible, as to be expected, but that's Hoboken for you. If you're coming from the City, you're better off swimming across the Hudson, or taking the ferry. read more

I came on vacation from cali and I heard pier13 would be really fun, and it was. The bartenders were really friendly and as for the food the wings were my favorite, I was told the food trucks switch up from time to time. We stayed alittle longer to catch the view of Manhattan during sunset and see the city lights go on. With a live DJ the vibes were on point. It's perfect for a chill date night. read more

My 4 friends and I came to Pier 13 on Fourth of July this past summer, and I had such a great time. It was extra packed due to the holiday, but we still found a corner of the pier where my friends and I found a few chairs and a nice seating area on the ground. The view of the skyline was breathtaking, the food trucks were delicious, and the bar trucks (something I've never seen before) were awesome! The drinks were slightly expensive but they offered pitchers which was a good portion to share. And I got a vodka sauce pizza from the pizza food truck which was so yummy. Such a chill spot somewhat hidden in hoboken. Nice views, plenty of chairs and tables and bean bags to sit down at. Some tables even have games to play! Music is blasting! Drinks are not cheap. sometimes they have beers as a deal for $4, other wise youre gonna spend at least $7 on something and all the way up to about $14. They even do bottle service which is interesting....Dogs are allowed and they even have movie nights sometimes. They have about 5 diff food trucks along the walk into it. parking sucks so good luck, but best bet is to park by the skate park on frank sinatra drive and take a short walk. This really should be two separate listings, one for the pier itself and one for the beer garden that takes up the last half of the Pier. As a Pier I'd give it 5+ stars. It's a gorgeous Pier with some of the best views of NYC you can find anywhere. They have lots of benches and when I went, there were 4 different food trucks on the pier, including one with a wood burning brick oven that looked amazing. As a beer garden I'm conflicted, the frugal guy hates that all the beers on tap are $8 (they have 5 different cans for $6) but price aside the place is great. Several hundred feet of the Pier are completely covered in grass with comfortable lounge beach chairs scattered around. They also have board games and picnic tables (you can bring food in). They carded me in the front but there were tons of kids running around in here so it seems kind of pointless. The only other issue I had with the place is that they had speakers set up every few feet around the perimeter of the pier and the volume was too loud. I just wanted to sit in the lounge chair in the grass and sip my beer and take in the view in peace. Still the pier and whole Hoboken area is gorgeous and definitely one of a kind. read more

What can I say... it's basically an outdoor bar with a good view. They usually have a DJ on the weekends, a few drinking options, and some food trucks. Sometimes they have events but I've never been during an event.  They have picnic tables and lounge/lawn chair seating. But depending on the time you may have to hover and wait for a chance to squeeze in. It's a good place to hang with friends to have a few drinks and unwind, or pregame. But I don't see it as the destination for the night. Be prepared to bake in the sun (no shade) and deal with a large crowd/long lines. Also, bring cash. read more
