Great happy hour menu. I liked most of the things that Ive tried here minus maybe like one dish. Food: Crab Melt Sandwich- Thought this would be meltier/cheesier. The patty is like a crabcake (fried), but I think it woulda been better just letting it be crab meat. This was just ok. Lobster Roll- Great lobster roll. Not much to say about it. Chowder Fries- I totally thought this wasnt gonna be that great, but damn they were good! I highly recommend you upgrade your fries to chowder fries. Our lunch was delicious. We started with clam chowder, then fish n chips and fried oysters. Best fried oysters I've had in years, an acquired taste for some me. I loved these The food was served hot and timely. There is a coffee and pastry shop nextdoor that looked tasty too. I dont understand understand those who give bad ratings based on the service type. It's the restaurant style, dont like it leave. Rating should be based on food and they definitely deliver. The vibe is very relaxed and chilled, you have a choice of indoor or outdoor dining with their coffee shop on their right. My favorite dish is their oysters, garlic roasted iron skillet, definitely could overfeed for 2. Usually dip the bread in that sauce as well as pairing it with garlic noodles and cannot forget their chowder bowl! Yea, I know carb and all but just try it it's the best toasted sourdough bread! We were craving seafood so we searched around and found this place. Location is a bit strange, but I think that's why there is not much of a wait. Also, you order at the counter and then find a table. We ordered: - clam chowder $7. Asked for without the bread bowl. This way I get more clam chowder especially since I don't eat the bread. Initially the chowder was good and thick, but I'm not sure what happened. The rest of the chowder was watery. Not very flavorful either. - lobster roll dressed $22: looked good, but seemed a bit small and the dressing was not on point. Feels like it was missing more mayo or something. - fish and chips $17: large plate. Nice portion and it wasn't too bad. - crab cakes $15: comes in 3 on a plate with a little slaw underneath and some type of aioli drizzles on top. My daughter loves crab cakes, but the first thing she said when the crab cakes arrived was how burnt they looked. The inside was mushy. Should have listened to other reviews as most said it was mushy. The plus is there is a lot of crab in the crab cakes. Just need more seasoning and flavor boost. - corn: came with 4 corn on a cob. I'm so upset at myself for not speaking up and sending back the dozen oysters we had for lunch today. First off, I had a bad feeling when I saw that no one was really eating outside and there weren't that many cars parked in their parking lot. Its a Sunday around noon, most places, especially seafood (GOOD seafood) places are packked. when you walk in no one greets you. It's almost self order?! It was confusing and we stood there for awhile until my husband went up to the counter and got the attention of a worker. The food: Dozen oysters: red flag that the variety and sources weren't listed. They were SMELLy and tasted foul. I looked at my husband and we were like okay, maybe it's subjective? It tastes like bad ocean water?????? Tried another one and we had to just stop. It was clear these were dead oysters or oysters that were not properly stored and handled. SO mad we did not send it back or ask the staff to try it for themselves. It's appalling they would serve it but it's our fault for giving them benefit of the doubt. Lobster roll- probably wasn't live/fresh oyster. It was very tough and chewy. Generous portions on the roll but....probably previously frozen. Five hours of Professional Development on my birthday sounds dreadful, but I actually found it valuable and helpful! The facilitator reminded us that scores on assessments can discourage struggling students, and showed us a way to score assessments to give them hope. So I write this review, not to discourage Pier 402, but to help them improve. My fambam of three came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday, and we figured that staff has never worked in a restaurant before. I ordered three drinks - housemade sangria, iced tea, and wine. Without saying anything, she put down the housemade sangria and left. Not a "Hello" or "How are you?" That was the first time we saw her. I'm not butt-hurt, but if you're in customer service, you have to say a little something to people. The other two drinks took too long. Our food order came - all three - before the drinks. Usually, drinks come before the food. The house made sangria was really good, though! The guy behind the register said I'd like the passion fruit better since most people do, but he didn't know that I'm not into sweet drinks. I didn't like it, and it was cool of him to give me a taste of the passion fruit first before giving me the one that I asked for in the first place. I hope they're the same price because he charged me for the Passion Fruit. The Clams and Mussels were served on the table without a bowl for the shells. I don't know if they just forgot or they don't know they're suppose to leave a bowl for the shells. We were upstairs and no one came to check up on us. We were too tired to go downstairs to ask for the bowl. Have they considered elevators? Okay, that's not too important. Good thing they had paper cups upstairs for water! We just used that as our trash. The broth in the Clams and Mussels were disappointingly spicy. Some people might like that, but I want to taste the butter, garlic, and wine. All the flavors were covered by the spiciness. They did not skimp on the shrimp, however there was so much shrimp that it was hard to eat the tortilla. Also, the tortillas were too small - not enough for the abundant shrimp. Either make the tortillas bigger or just use chips! Or cut down the shrimp a little bit. It was spicy for me, but it was edible. My daughter's Mac &.Cheese were bland, but she ate most of it. She was starving when we got there. That's my two cents. Take it or leave it. I really enjoyed my dine in experience here! Casual setting where it shares is space with another vendor "Creme". Interior. Downstairs and upstairs seating with terrace, spacious interior. Found this on Yelp looking for oysters. It's shared with the Crema coffee shop. Service was ok, but likely due to short staff. Staff is nice, but they don't come around to check on you after you're given your food. The food is good, portions are pretty big, and the price is right. I had the garlic noodles with lobster, and there was a lot of meat. I looked around at other tables, and their portions looked big too. If you don't know the area, it used to be Havana- Cuban restaurant for years. Staff need to smile more or a little friendlier would be good. This is our first and we had to try lobster rolls with butter and dressing. Overall, I'll give 3.5 stars in a good way. It needs more butter. The bun is good and toasty. Lobster in general is very expensive so I think you're paying for what you're getting. Tacos are okay good mango salsa, need more meat inside a bit dry. It's basically salsa taco with a tiny bit of meat on a small tortilla, $3.00 each during happy hour. The place has a lot of tables inside and out, I wonder if they get really busy during weekends. Pier 402 rebooted a familiar spot that once was Cuban food, which I never had a chance to taste. I've been looking forward to coming. The place was completely ocean vibe and I felt somewhere close to water. Plus for decor. It's a counter order restaurant, so place your order then find a seat. Plenty of tables and TVs. The restaurant has an up stairs party room which I didn't get a chance to check out because there was a party there. My husband and I wanted to taste everything most important to us to gauge. I've never even looked at one let alone taste it. I see why they're an aphrodisiac. Anyway, Pier 402 delivered a well enough oyster that I'm actually willing to explore adding them to my diet. 4 large oysters to the plate. We ate the garlic and Parmesan. I had to cute them up much smaller bites. Next we had the fried calamari. The meat was tender but the breading was thick and over cooked. A little below average for a fish restaurant. They're not terrible though. I ordered the shrimp ceviche. Two decent size, flat corn tortilla shells stacked with large portions of shrimp ceviche on each. The shrimp was tender, I loved the crunchy cucumbers and fresh ingredients. It was seasoned well and yummy citrus. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The plate had 3 large pieces of deep fried fish. The batter was crispy but a little thick for my liking. The fish was light and flaky. His garlic fries were piping hot. (Unlike what we over heard behind us at another table). The patron complained her fries were cold. They were given a fresh plate of hot fries quickly! When the original restaurant moved and this place changed I was a little bummed and skeptical! My husband wanted to give it a try since it is only a few blocks from where our son goes to school so we stopped in on a random week day. There were a couple people ahead of us so we had some time to go over the menu. My husband ordered the seafood poutine fries and I ordered the lobster mac and a couple of beers to wash it down. As you can see from the picture I was SHOCKED to see how much lobster they gave in the mac and everything was hot and fresh. Because of how delicious everything was, we went a second time with other family members the next day! It wasn't a fluke -- just as delicious the second day! The oysters were freshly caught and they were able to provide where and when they had gotten delivered. I would definitely recommend this place to all the bay area seafood lovers. read more

She Never offered a booster seat or high chair, I had to go inside and asked for it, and I was the one who carried it out. We told her that we would seat at the tables outside and let me tell you, NO ONE, came to clean the chairs or tables, thank God we had wipes. I have tried hard to love this place, despite having gotten wrong or miscooked orders in the past. I came in last week, stood around (with other potential patrons) for 5 minutes and, when no one appeared to serve us, I simply left. I ordered an oyster po' boy by phone, and drove over to get it. When I got there, I waited for a minute or two at the counter, and someone came out of the back with a bag. I told her who I was and that I was waiting for an oyster po' boy, and she handed me the bag. I paid my money, with a tip, and left. When I got home I opened the bag, and found a lovely po' boy sandwich. Unfortunately, it was not an oyster po' boy, it was a shrimp po' boy. That was a small disappointment, but I was willing to even roll with that. The problem was that, it was not only the wrong sandwich, it wasn't very good. The shrimp were grossly overcooked, to the point of being chewy, and there weren't very many of them. One might think that paucity would be a benefit given they weren't very good, but it just served to annoy me even further. They have been open for several years now, so new business jitters are no longer an excuse. Yes, we have gone through COVID, and staffing is a problem. I understand that. But this is a restaurant, so, at the very least, you have to provide good food. Unfortunately, I no longer feel the Pier 402 reaches this minimal level. I fear its time has passed. It may be time for a better restaurant to take its place. I'll watch the reviews - sometimes places turn around. If they do, I'll be very happy, and I'll go there often. But I won't be back until I see some signs of significant improvement. read more

Their Happy Hour menu says $15 for a dozen oysters. I ordered 2 dozen oysters during their Happy Hour and they charged me $60! When confronted with the menu they posted online showing the deal, the cashier said that they would never sell oysters that cheap since it's about a dollar a piece. This is fraud! They make excellent food. Love my clammy clam chowder with tender clams and not chewy clams. Loved my soft shell crab po boy sandwich. Lots of crab so this was worth the price. Came with a nice kale salad dish and fries. Friend's fish and chips was delicious as I tried some and it was also huge. Tried this place, pics look good , decent ratings but this is one of the worst seafood experiences I've ever had. Almost expecting to feel sick in a bit. I ordered the twin lobster tails plate. It took so much work to get the meat off the shell. Extremely overcooked, very chewy and tiny lobster portion. The corn Cobb tastes like like it had been sitting in boiled water all day, my gf ordered the sampler, the shrimp batter was burned, the shrimp was rubbery as well as the calamari. The fried oysters had an odd taste to them. I wish I can say I at least liked one thing here today but I didn't and I'm embarrassed to have paid over $120 for a crappy dinner here. OMG!!! First the seafood nachos are awesome, delicious and plentiful. Lots of cheese with crispy chips, jalapeños and chunks of crab. I can't express how good these are. A meal within themselves. 3.5 stars Sorry, but my boyfriend and I came for what we hoped was comparable to New England Lobster Market & Eatery in Burlingame... we were wrong. For the prices of their items, you'd think the taste would be better... but maybe they make up for this in terms of portion size. We got a dressed and an undressed version of the lobster rolls. The bread was a bit hard for our liking, it was akin brioche bread that was a day or two old, and it wasn't buttered. The lobster (both dressed and undressed), lacked flavor and was a bit rubbery. Salmon spring roll: too "fishy". The sauce lacked flavor too. I'm not sure what other greens were in it, but after the first bite I couldn't even stomach the rest. The fries were delicious though. Perfect and crispy, not overly salted. Get these! Coleslaw, it also lacked flavor. It was almost like they just took some Trader Joe's slaw mix and plotted it onto the plate. The atmosphere was great. Nice and spacious, good for gatherings and wasn't loud at all. Service: just a walk up after you decide to order type deal. Nothing special.
