    The "Crema" coffee shop
    Bob N.

I checked out the website before visiting. There is a photo, a one-paragraph blurb, and a contact form. No menu or other information. I visited on a weekday night, but there was no parking to be found... I had to drive around on side streets for twenty minutes and then walk back to the restaurant. The inside has kind of a cafeteria feel... not very welcoming. You enter the restaurant through a coffee shop called Crema, which seems to operate as a separate business(?). Surprisingly, despite the lack of parking, there were only a few people in the restaurant. The staff seemed totally disinterested, and service was slow. They do have a nice selection on the menu - sandwiches, burgers, tacos, lobster, oysters, crab, and more. Sadly, everything we tried was disappointing. The shrimp I had were overcooked and rubbery, and everything was way over-salted to the point of being almost inedible. Portions were small, which in this case I didn't mind at all. This is not a place I'll return to.

This is such a lovely and underrated place! I wasn't so sure about stopping into dinner after seeing some reviews. But, I'm so glad we did because we really enjoyed the food. There's ample parking on the side and plenty of tables inside while outside as well. There's ambiance of the place has a cool ocean vibe with accents of Vietnamese culture. The person took our order right away and was attentive when we were trying to decide. The food was really flavorful and I liked the different dynamics of the dish. Especially the slides, they were so delicious and juicy. The crab cakes were pretty fresh and tasted good with the ailoli sauce. While the fish and chips were a huge portion and pretty nicely fried. Definitely will be back for dinner!

Food was amazing! We had the seafood nachos, lobster taco, clam chowder in a bread bowl and sampler platers. It had calamari, deep fried oysters and fish. To drink we had michelada with shrimps and IPA.

Phenomenal lobster rolls and garlic fries

Phenomenal lobster rolls and garlic fries that I tell everyone who listens about. I have been to this place a number of times, very consistent with flavor and quality every time.

    Firecracker lobster roll

June and Dina are not only adorable but serve up delicious food coupled with amazing customer service. We ordered a bit of everything but the favorite were the ceviche, firecracker lobster roll was hot and steamy and out of this world oysters. Everything came quickly but with enough time to finish what we already were devouring. Portions were generous and everything we had was so yummy. Give these sweet ladies a try-you will NOT be disappointed!

Found this place on Yelp searching for raw oysters. Didn't realize this place shared a building with Crema coffee. I was waiting at the register for a couple of minutes, and I looked in the kitchen to ask if they were open. The person said someone on the other side could help me. The other side meant at Crema. So I walked over and asked for help. Ordered the dozen mixed oysters on a half shell and the garlic noodles with lobster. The oysters came out first. Don't know what kind of oysters we got, but they were all good. One or two of the varieties were more on the briny side. Oysters were good & fresh. Oh! Oysters were also $2 each for happy hour (it was 2pm on a Sunday). Garlic noodles were very garlicky & tasty! There was a lot of lobster in it too. It's well worth the price at $17 in my opinion. I'd give a 3/5 for service since it was pretty slow. The staff was nice, but the oysters took about 15 minutes and the garlic noodles another 15 minutes. Also they didn't check on us after we got our food. Everyone was busy working on the Crema side. I think there was only one person in the Pier kitchen prepping and cooking.

I tried the coffee next door at Crema and it was good but they don't make their syrups fresh. They have a large selection of coffee styles. We are next door at pier 402 and I would come back for their HH. My tuna nicose salad had plenty of tuna and tasted fresh. The Paloma was fairly priced and was very effervescent. The only downfall was the ran out of bread bowl for their clam chowder and they served it with overly buttered sourdough slices. It was meh. It was a casual Saturday but enjoyed getting out and trying a new spot.

Vietnamese iced coffee + cream and crumb coffee cake + warm. :+)

This review is for Crema Coffee inside that shares a space with Pier 402. I got a Iced Vietnamese coffee w/ cream and a coffee crumb cake that was fantastic! Both were a great combo over conversation with a friend. The iced Vietnamese is served with coffee espresso and creamer so I added more creamer because even the American style Viet coffee taste is too bitter for my liking. Warm coffee crumb cake was good the portion was on the smaller side and did have a nice cake and sugar flavor not overwhelming. I recommend both the iced Viet coffee and coffee cake to caffeine lover alike. The space for Crema is nice cafe, antiquated and shares a place with Pier 402 that serves seafood and alcohol spirits in the evening. Enso forever. Happy hour M-F. 3-7pm. All day Sunday. Matcha latte. "For me, becoming isn't about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. Good oysters and solid clam chowder. That's about it. Stay away from the happy hour menu.

Alter Ego is a proper intimate lounge with their full bar, and it feels like a world away from the street outside. The transition between the two spaces is surprisingly seamless and genuinely fun to experience. And they're open late, which puts them in a rare category of places actually worth staying out for. Not my personal cup of tea, but they do also offer sake and a few beers also. The first time we went, we ordered the arancini, bucatini, and the heritage pork katsu. I am a big advocate for trying new things every time I go to a restaurant, but it was so good I ordered the same thing the second time I went. Arancini is flavored with Japanese curry with creamy fontina in the center topped off with kimchi mayo. Holy f. These quite literally put the traditional Italian ones to shame (sorry not sorry). Next was the bucatini. It had tom yum butter, lime, basil- all the fix ins of what you want from tom yum flavors with the luxuriousness added from the butter. It was sinful. Last and certainly not least, is the pork katsu. I cannot even remember the last time I ordered a pork katsu, but something told me to order it. Thank God I did, as it quite literally changed my life. If they ever take it off the menu I am not sure I would be OK. It is crispy and is swimming in this koji butter, but the key is that it is NOT greasy. I quite literally think about it all the time. To the point where I had it twice in a week. Service was great, bartenders are so friendly. The place is cute and vibrant. Keep in mind it is small- limited seating inside and a small patio outside. But so worth the wait. Ambiance 5 Wine 5…read more Service 5 Food 5 So why the 4 rating... TBH there's a good chance that I'll adjust it soon, but if I could give a 4.5 I would. First the knock, and to be fair, it's probably just an opinion / idea. Given the birth of natural wine and the South Bay, it would be wonderful to see a curated selection of tasting flights, no more than two or three options with anywhere from 3 to 6 wine wines each, priced accordingly. Maintaining a proper wine menu when all you do is natural wine can certainly be a challenge. If you wine flights depending on what you have would certainly elevate the customer experience by educating more people natural wine and helping them make better choices when it comes to a bottle purchase. I paid $61 for a bottle that was recommended, and at that price point I wonder how many people who are new to natural wine might be turned off. Chris was a wonderful host and certainly the right person to engage with customers around their various wines. Given how small the space is and how busy it can get, a weekly tasting flight menu might be a good way to engage those customers who are waiting to order at the bar and perhaps even spark a more productive conversation with Chris. We ordered the peach and ricotta dish with Thai basil... wow, a wonderful surprise. Peaches are always battling in and out of the top spot on my summer fruit list and this combination was downright dirty and delicious! We also ordered the raw oysters with watermelon mignonette. Another wow! I didn't expect the little spice kick and it was a perfect pairing to the sweetness of the watermelon. If anyone knows the recipe let me know, I'd bottle that mignonette and take it with me wherever I have oysters!! Overall, a great experience and I most definitely look forward to going back!
