Parking is not the best, but we parked in a lot a block down from the restaurant. The service was pretty friendly with our waiter making some recommendations. We went with the deep fried seafood devil eggs as an appetizer. It was a 3/5. Very heavy on the old bay seasoning but not too bad. For our entrees, we got the Delmonico and fish. Both were pretty solid. Delmonico with mashed potatoes was a 5/5. The fish was 4/5. The fish wasn't scaled thoroughly unfortunately. Review: I have had Pierre Pierre on my foodie bucket list for quite some time so I decided to come in on a Friday night respectfully, I will say this I had a reservation around 8:15 which we weren't seated until about an hour later, so just be mindful that if you have a reservation, you may have to wait a while just because the space is small and they get very busy and they try to accommodate as many people as they can with the seating and the business that they are receiving Food selection: Whole red snapper on a bed of rice with cream sauce; oxtail, Rasta pasta, Brussel sprouts everything was really good. The snapper was cooked to my liking. The rice was good, but it came out cold. It would've been better if it was piping hot I'm very picky when it comes to sauces, but I must say this cream sauce was really good; and the brussels sprouts are an absolute must!! They were cooked to perfection. Everything had a good flavor. It wasn't salty which I greatly appreciate it. It wasn't over seasoned It wasn't over or undercooked. Everything was really good. I highly recommend these dishes. Cocktail selection: I went with a strawberry drop and my man had the Long Island iced tea custom made. I will say this if you're going to do the strawberry drop or a mixed cocktail ask for top shelf alcohol because unfortunately, I didn't like the drink because the alcohol tasted very cheap. The drinks were good, but they just needed better alcohol and a better blend. Service: our server, I didn't catch his name, but he was the gentleman that walks around in the suit I like the presentation of the napkin being placed over your lap, which is very professional. Our waiter was very accommodating any issues that we had he was on it. He asked us how things were checked on us to make sure everything was up to par and anything that wasn't he quickly corrected ; the gentlemen hostess at the front did their best to get us seated as quickly as possible while, keeping us updated on seating, which was greatly Ambience : a very small setting with a nice bar area. I will say that decor could use some updating the wood tables and chairs are actually a little outdated so it would be nice to see them upgrade to some modern decor. Conclusion: if you would like to have a more quiet experience or an intimate experience, I recommend going during the weekday or at our earlier time because the weekends are more of a club vibe type setting, but it was definitely a vibe!!! if you are celebrating your birthday, I recommend going here because they know how to turn you up for your birthday. I love the energy so in conclusion, I will say the wait time was a little excessive which is understandable because I understand that they are trying to bring out quality dishes and accommodate as many people as they can to enjoy their experience; so just have patience with them they're doing the best that they can and they do get very busy so overall, I would definitely say I would definitely come back here. There are some other dishes that I would like to try on the menu. Had reservations. The fried deviled eggs were a staple and highlight of the night for me. All you really need to know about this place is that it taste like someone's grandma's grandma made those mashed potatoes and those deviled eggs. That's just about all you need to know. This place is relatively new (opened about 4 months ago). They haven't even had a chance to have a true grand opening because word of mouth keeps spreading about this place. We came in on a Friday and it was pretty popping. We had an 8pm reservation but ended up waiting about an hour for a table to be ready. We waited at the bar in the meantime, and these lush velvet crushed chairs that were really really comfortable and just make me feel very elegant. The drinks were pretty spot on and delicious. I usually don't go for more than one drink in the night, but this had me getting to drinks. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu or ask him for something special to be made. Either way you will be pleased. Once our table was ready, we were able to order, and I feel like we ordered most of the menu. The menu is not expensive, but what they have they do really well. We got the deviled eggs, the mac and cheese, blackened salmon, the delmarco ribeye steak, and a side of mashes potatoes. I literally wanted to lick every bowl and plate, the food was so good. The mashed potatoes stole the show though. I usually always go for the mac and cheese, and while it was so delicious here, those mashed potatoes were still ten times better - not even sure how that's possible, but they were! I would still go back and get both though! Everything was truly delicious and great portions. We didn't get dessert (they only had a biscoff cheesecake and I don't like cheesecake), but really enjoyed our experience. You can tell they really put quality into every dish. Pierre Pierre is a new restaurant in downtown Oakland, which I haven't frequented much lately; however, one of my good friends suggested it, so we all gave it a whirl. It's a black owned restaurant and that's always a treat-- love supporting that considering that there aren't a ton of them around anymore. Upon entrance, I was warmly greeted by the bartender, so that was pleasant. They had a nice grade of champagne and all of my friends had a beverage that they enjoyed. We made our way to our table and proceeded to look at the menu. The print was so small we could barely see it, and none of us wear glasses and have great eyesight. We might wear a pair for fashion, but not to see what's happening. That said, we pulled up the menu on line and mentioned it to our waiter, Stephan. He said they were in the process of revamping them as there was a printing error of sorts and they were aware. He proceeded to extend excellent service and verbalize the menu-- that was nice of him. He was all around great and full of life. We couldn't have had a better individual supporting our table. Now to the food: Brussel sprouts: great! Candied yams: great-- not too sweet or too mushy. Loved them. Mashed potatoes: tasty Chicken wings: loved -- the seasoning was great; I would have loved a tad more crisp to them, but that's just me. I'd order them again. Vegan gumbo: okay, if approaching as a soup. My friends said it was really salty (I agreed- just a hint too too salty-- but blood pressure raising for sure). Nonetheless, Pierre rectified it right away with pleasantries and complimentary cheesecake that the ladies devoured. Meat gumbo: decent, if we are approaching it as a soup. It was flavorful and well seasoned but didn't give gumbo. Steak: I had ribeye which was perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. Loved it and it was a nice portion, couldn't finish because I was pleasantly stuffed. Will we be back? Most certainly. It's a go-to now. There is a complete bar and the vibe and music was trendy and sophisticated for an evening out. As a note: I do interior design so the lounge area/sitting space could use some elegant lighting, throw pillows, and some extras. Last night they seated us within 5 minutes of our reservation. The waiter took our drink order relatively quick, it took a minute to get our drinks. Our appetizer order included a flight of wings, crack wings, truffle fries and truffle fries surf and turf. It was almost an hour before we received all of our appetizers. Before we could eat our sticky wings, we looked for our napkins and the only napkin we each had was a small cocktail napkin. We asked our waiter for napkins and he said they hadn't received their linen napkins and the cocktail napkins were all they had. He then brought us several c-fold napkins from the bathroom. My husband looked at the wings and said "those are hen wings", we all agreed. The crack wings were sweet chili sauce with what tasted like powder sugar. The flight of wings were the crack wings, sweet chili wings and the Port de-pierre wings, they were ok. I'm not sure why they cut the bone of the drum, maybe they are trying to give the look of a drumstick lollipop ‍. It did make them hard to eat. The truffle fries were ok. The salmon on the truffle surf and turf had a good flavor. I'll just address all of the steak, on all of the dishes, it was tough and hard to chew. I KNOW IT WASN'T prime or even choice. The very first main dish we tried to order was the oxtail rasta pasta. They didn't have oxtail but gave a choice of steak or chicken. It took a while before we received our main dishes. My pet peeve is when they don't bring all the food at the same time. They brought everything except the rib eye and mash potatoes. When they finally did bring it, the steak was hot but the potatoes were lukewarm at best. The pappardelle and rasta pasta dishes have the same sauce. They had a good flavor. The crab pappardelle dish was hot, but it seemed like they just dumped COLD crab on top. There was no crab throughout. The mac n cheese didn't have much flavor. The brussel sprouts and cheesecake were the best tasting dishes of the night. We noticed the candle on our table wasn't lit, no biggie stuff happens. At one point they dimmed all of the lights, everyone looked around as if it was a power dip. We then had to ask our waiter to light our candle so we could see a little better. Was going to order another drink but service isn't the fastest here. Food: salmon dish (sides are a la carte), mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, lobster. The. Sides were pretty average tasting. All were pretty good, flavors were okay but I would've preferred just a tad more boldness in the flavors... but the salmon was still good. A slightly smaller portion than I imagined. The lobster tail was a nice size and pretty tasty, buttery goodness. We enjoyed the lobster a bit more than the salmon. We ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer but the waitress may have forgotten to put it in and by the time we noticed and told her about it our main dishes had arrived. Needless to say, we never got to try the deviled eggs. All in all it's a nice space, food is pretty decent, and staff are nice. I'm considering returning at a future date/time. One of the newer restaurants downtown, Oakland Tribune building. Let me start by saying that it's only been open 6 months, so i feel like the staffing and some of the service was lacking due to that. We came in, had a reservation and were seated on Fathers Day. Nice ambiance, low lights, good lil vibe, real BLACK, it was very nice. Servers come in and set your napkin(s) for you, they wear gloves when serving you all that jazz. Food was banging! The price of a full snapper was $65 which i initially looked at crazy, but after ordering it and seeing what they did with it i understood why! Ordered drinks, i got the old fashioned, and my lady got an espresso martini, both were well handed. We also kicked it out with Jerk chicken wings, and the fried deviled eggs, which were both very good. If you aren't a fried food person i wouldn't recommend the fried deviled eggs. After that we ordered the $65 and i ordered the Lobster. We got the surf n turf mac n cheese to share with the Brussels sprouts to taste as well. I was highly impressed with all the dishes! The snapper had veggies with it cut so precise, and that made the snapper so flavorful i was amazed. My personal favorite was the Brussel sprout ls, our server mentioned that they were deep fried and then sautéed in garlic oil, and i could taste and feel all of that in the food. Surf n turf mac n cheese was a good blend with the salmon and steak. So the reason i gave it a 4 star review is strictly based on the service, we sat down for almost 30 minutes before hearing from anybody which wasn't much of a problem for us as we were elbow deep into conversation. We also got lost in the mix as far as being served our food, some mix up ended up getting us our entrees and appetizers at the same time. Our server threw in a slice of cheesecake for the delay and the cheesecake was actually my 2nd favorite dish of the night. It came doubled crusted, top and bottom and was drizzled off with caramel and powdered sugar.
