I ordered the porchetta which I've had before. When I started cutting into it I noticed it was quite tough. After taking a bite I couldn't chew it super tough. I tried another portion and at least I could chew that but was still tough and not much taste way over cooked. I would say 1/3 to a 1/2 was inedible. I didn't send it back becuse my guest was also eating and since it took 20 min or so to get our plates I figured I would just eat what I could. It was the worst porchetta I ever had. The polenta under it was good. I told the server as I showed her the pile I couldn't eat. She said she would tell I believe Pete who ever he is. No one ever came and offered a apology or anything to off set this disappointing lunchexperience. Service was good. Also we sat in the patio. They have 2 top table for 2 and 4 top for 3 or more. My friend and I are both big guys and requested the 4 top and was told we had to sit in the 2 top becuse only 2. I get that however they never checked the reservations apparently as there were 4 tops available the whole time thru our lunch and also there were 2 ladies sitting at one right behind us. Always love their food! We get the funghi pizza, the potato pizza, Caesar salad, and the oxtail Ragu. We love the taste of the funghi pizza with truffle oil and the heat from the chili honey on the potato pizza. The potato pizza was a pleasant mistake when I had ordered the first time from them. Now it is a regular for us! The oxtail ragu is so rich and luscious that it is my husband's favorite. The only "thing" I'd like them to change would be the croutons on the salad. I wish they were homemade. They make their own bread and that would make wonderful croutons. read more

I've been here a handful of times since moving to the area. The food is amazing and the table service is quite good. Love their bread! Drinks are on point. My only less than satisfied comment was host staff, particularly on a Saturday night. We had reservations, arrived 10+ mins before reservations time, still ended up waiting over half an hour after reservations time, and people with reservations times after ours were seated before us. With a large party, I could see that happening, but we were only a party of 3. Not sure if they were overwhelmed or we got lost in the shuffle, or what. I will continue to go for the food and wait staff, but now I try to avoid weekend nights unless we have guests from out of town. I still gave 5 stars because that was a singular experience and it could be a one-off. read more

Last Thursday we buried my brother. It was very private so it was just 4 of us and my dog. This was my brother's favorite restaurant so we decided to go there for lunch. I called ahead to make sure we could bring our dog to eat in the outside area. I was told it would be fine. We showed up 10 minutes later. My husband went inside to let them know we were outside waiting to be seated. The hostess seated us but told me next time dogs are not allowed. I told her we had called and asked and was told it was fine. She questioned who I spoke to. I know I am sensitive right now but I thought that was rude. How would I know who I talked to? She then thanked me for my feedback. What feedback? The food was delicious but the service was bad. Maybe because I had my dog who sat under the table not even to be noticed. We had to ask for water numerous times. Most restaurants do not have a problem with dogs sitting in the outside patio. And if they did have a problem they should have told me on the phone. The gnocchi is always great. Usually the service is too. But everything was so slow tonight . The wine came when we were almost done eating. The tables are so small we always feel cramped unless it's a big group in the reserved room or outside. The Italian sauce was oily and one guest couldn't eat it. The water glasses are so small they were continuously reaching over the food, at our small table, to refill. Appetizers, bread, water don't fit at the table without putting in the guests plate area. This was the first time I was so disappointed in Pietros. We have been coming here for 20 years. The waiter did well considering the place was being staffed low on a busy night. My plate (pork milanese) came pleasantly aesthetically pretty! My pork chops where cooked to perfection, the plate comes with baked potatoes and gosh they where very well seasoned and gave my chops that extra taste!!! My husbands chicken was so delicious I kept reaching over to his plate every once ina while to catch a bite!!! Loved this place, We were on our way to Lockeford Sausage, I was craving Italian. We yelped the best Italian place, 25 minutes later we were able to experience Pietro's. It sure is a joy when the service you recieve is just as good as the food that's prepared by the cooks. From the time my daughter and I stepped into the restaurant and we were greeted I knew this was going to be a nice experience. We stepped in at 4:00 Lockeford closes at 5:00, I knew we had 45 minutes to order and eat. I let our server know what the deal was, And we were still treated with the utmost respect, The bread kept coming, never ran out of water, my daughter had her Shirley Temple less than 2 minutes after she ordered it. But the food. Perhaps I'm spoiled, the only reason I did not give 5 stars is , I was hoping the Pizza would have been as Great as the Pasta. The Pasta is delicious, my daughter had the chicken alfredo, I had the three pasta plate and it was great. Great Service, great food. Make no mistake the star of the show here is the Pasta. We love Pietros, but were somewhat disappointed with the service. The Hostess seemed to have attitude when we asked to not be seated next to the service area, when 5-10 tables were open. Her overall demeanor could've been improved with a simple smile. Our food came out with salad plates still on table and we were expected to hold salad plates while food was set. Pietros used to be so good! I don't know what happened Covid? a change of ownership? But the last four or five meals we've had there ...we like'en it to Chef Boyardee:(. The pasta has been over done every single time the steak sandwich had zero seasoning on it ... to which the bartender responded yeah, it depends on which chef is back there‍ not what you really wanna hear. In any case I want to keep coming back because it's a beautiful restaurant but the food has really declined this last year, as has the service. The bar service under "Jamar", was always so spot on. We had the bruschetta for starters, and I had the Amatriciana - it's Fresh Rigatoni, Guanciale, Calabrian Chili, Tomato Sauce, Basil my friend had the Creste de Gallo, it's Creamy Tomato Sugo, Basil, Pecorino Romano. For dessert we shared the Bomboloni Seasonal Italian Doughnuts with a raspberry sauce - delicious! I will definitely be going back to Pietro's again - soon I hope! Really not sure what happened to my original review for Pietro's in Lodi Ca but for years my wife and I have been coming here and has been one of our favorite Italian restaurants...for years on the way back through Ca when we lived in Nv we would stop in here on the way back home. We have always loved the family atmosphere of this place and since moving back to California my wife and I now come back here frequently is our annual anniversary spot. We love everything about this place...once you pull up it is a diamond in the rough sort of speak based on the street. The parking lot is full of homegrown vegetables and fruits they use in their restaurant grown all over the parking lot in all sorts of unique locations. Inside you are always greeted by a friendly staff member and seated either in their quaint cozy inside or their awesome outside seating. Either way you are in for a treat. I have tried so many things on the menu and I would suggest you come and try Pietro's for yourself but some suggestions would be the meatball appetizer, chicken piccata, cioppino, any of their seafood specials...and to top it off you need to finish off your meal with their signature tiramisu and affogato. read more

Pietros has been a family favorite for us for over 20 years! A few years back, they did a major renovation and revamped their menu too. The change was exceedingly positive and their menu has never been better. It was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. My go-to's are the pork Milanese and the pesto gnocchi. My husband usually gets the market cut steak or pizza. We love the drinks, coffee and dessert and never leave unsatisfied. Wow...I can't say enough good things about Pietro's in Lodi! First, I have to commend them for being on Open Table, because I wouldn't have found them without having stopped by that website to make reservations for dinner in Lodi for 7pm on a Saturday night. We arrived for our reserved time and were seated right away...yay! The hostess was chatty and friendly. We were immediately greeted by our main server and given waters, then time to peruse the menu. Our co-server came along next to introduce herself, and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. Though their alcoholic drinks looked great, we were alcohol'd out from tasting wine all day (we were in Lodi for the Wine & Chocolate weekend). After quickly receiving our drinks, our main server returned to take our orders... Let me just say that EVERYTHING looked and sounded good! Having looked at their menu online already (I always check Yelp before trying somewhere new), I knew I was getting the Pasta Trio, comprised of homemade ravioli (you could tell they are homemade and sooooooo good!), spaghetti with pesto sauce and pine nuts (nice to break up the red sauce from the other two entrees) and lasagne (delicious!). Hubby opted for the ravioli with meat sauce, and he loved it. Oh, can't forget about the awesome buttery bread with garlic butter they bring out for you...yum!! And we also ordered the meatballs with grilled bread appetizer, and those three meatballs were divine! Yummmmmmmm! Needless to say, with all that food, we got nowhere NEAR finishing up everything. But that's okay, because I didn't have to make dinner the next night and Hubby got to enjoy more ravioli, lasagne, and delicious gravy for a second time.
