Great organization - you stand in line, look at the menu to order. Once it's your turn to order, you pay, get your drink, get a # and wait for servers to deliver. I had a beef salad that was delish. This place was immaculate and exceeded expectations. While staying in White Rock we ordered take out, I got chicken bacon tortellini and my girlfriend got the hot pig and fig sandwich. Ordering online was easy and the food was ready right on time when I went in to grab it. Would have liked to stay and dine in since the interior looked so beautiful but I had a dog with me and didn't want him to have to wait in the car. The background music was at the perfect volume to set the mood (to Nat King Cole jazz) while not hindering a conversation. The food is fresh and delicious, well seasoned and generous portions. Caution: the green chili stew does have a kick! My turkey club sandwich was one of the best I've had. There are plenty of healthy choices. All delicious. The bakery goods are divine. I recommend the scones! The service was very good. My fresh brewed iced tea never became empty. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The kid who took my order at the front had zero personality and then he screwed up my order. I got the grilled cheese with bacon and the Mac n cheese w/bacon - which they left off - so I had to go back to the register and tell them they forgot the bacon- the owner looked at me weird and asked me if I ordered it with bacon - I said yes -then she said ok we can put some on for you, never apologized or anything. Placed an order for pickup at 6:40pm. Received a text saying the order would be ready on time. Arrived at 6:45pm only to be told the food would take another 40 min. There were multiple other people waiting for online orders there too, including one who didn't receive all items and had to ask for a refund as they were just going to give them an incomplete order without any refund. If they don't have the staff to process online orders they shouldn't take them and waste people's time. Update- even after reviewing the order content with the staff before leaving we discovered when we sat to eat at our hotel that one item was missing (a side soup we paid extra for- they thought it was in there but it was actually side fruit that came with the meal), there were no napkins/utensils provided, and the sourdough bread was actually just plain white bread. Consistently mediocre food delivered to your with poor service. Frequently the staff get orders wrong -- both in person and takeout. Trying to get your order filled properly involves overcoming grumpy and abusive staff responses. Los Alamos patrons struggle to keep good restaurants in town and give cruddy establishments like this one lots of attention and praise in a desperate attempt to keep any local business going. read more

A great restaurant for the White Rock Area. I recently visited the Los Alamos and White Rock area and was treated to this restaurant for lunch. It is located on the southeast corner of the Sherwood/Mirador blvd and SR 4. It is very easy to access. There is plenty of parking to the south of the restaurant. When I arrived there was a line out the door but the wait was less than about 20 minutes. I was told by various people that this is normal as the restaurant is very popular and has good food. You enter and order at the counter and take a number to your table. I ordered the recommended Pig and Fig sandwich which is a Ham and cheese sandwich on ciabatta bread. It was a very large sandwich and it was a very reasonable price at $14. The restaurant was very clean and cool. The tables were cleaned quickly as people completed their meals and left. The staff was very pleasant and the restaurant had wood floors, wood tables, and whitewashed brick walls. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for a good meal, in a pleasant atmosphere at a reasonable price. read more

We dined here with a large party for my mom's birthday and they took care of us so well. Ed was wonderful and had a great knowledge of the beer and wine. All local beers to choose from. I went with the Sandia hard cider which was really refreshing. The service was exceptional from start to finish. You can tell the staff here really take pride in their work. A friendly local atmosphere. Nice attention to detail including fresh cut flowers on the tables. My mom and I shared the beet and quinoa salad and the autumn ravioli, we added chicken. The food was fantastic and everything came out at the same time, considering we had a party of 11 including two small children. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town. I'm going to split this up into two parts.  I'm a hobby coffee roaster, and while we certainly travel with my coffee, we also love to go to local coffee shops.  I have been visiting and rating coffee shops all over the world. This is a restaurant that also serves espresso drinks.  The ambiance is excellent.  Very cozy and clean.  The staff is very friendly.  We really didn't notice any other restaurants in White Rock, but even if there were, Pig and Fig would stand out.   The food looked great.  We did order some pastries, which are made in house, by the owner.  Wow.  Delish.  Beautiful to look at, and a treat to eat.   5 out of 5 on the restaurant. For the coffee, it was very good.  I had a cortado.  It was a tad on the bitter side.  Not Charbucks bitter.  Anything but that.  In watching the drink preparation, I noticed that there was almost no tamping of the grounds before going into the machine.  This is not life or death, but is a heavily discussed detail in espresso circles.  30 lbs of pressure, yada yada yada.  Yep, I'm nitpicking, but I'm a coffee guy.  So the coffee is a 4 out of 5.  But this is a restaurant, primarily, and for that, they are amazing.   So get your breakfast, or pastry, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee.  Very tasty, coming out of Bandelier to get an espresso drink and a sweet treat. read more

Great food - excellent location but very average to poor service. Really it's just the lack of employable help in Los Alamos. EVERYONE thinks they should be making laboratory wages - It's a very small community that has very little workforce support - and it shows in the attitude of a few employees there. The food is truly outstanding - I've been in multiple times in the last few years - Patience is a must - it often takes an hour to get your food. Especially on busy Friday night. I wanted to love this place. The name, the quaint interior, and the menu were promising. I was a little surprised by the counter service versus full service. We took menus to review while the counter server flirted one of the cooks. We ordered the country fried steak with mashed and gravy. We ordered salads with fig vinegarette. Unfortunately the salad came after the food. Maybe if the server had not been flirting with the cook, she could have gotten our salad to us ahead of time. So we scarfed down our salad so our food would not get cold. The main course was huge. We could have shared, we only ate half each. Gravy was wonderful, the potatoes were obviously real because they had lumps however they needed some salt. The ribeye was slightly overcooked. The ends were very tough. Luckily we had gravy. This place has a lot of potential. I hope they are still working out kinks. read more

Appreciate dog friendly places. We had a very favorable dining experience on our way home from nearby Bandelier National Monument. I had their signature "pig and fig" sandwich while my wife had a chicken club. Our waitress brought water and a treat for the dog. Since beer and wine are available, we did an Italian white and Spanish red. Overall the food was very good and service excellent. Only short term warning is that they were going to start a construction project to expand their patio this week (April 19, 2021) which would temporarily close their outside dining. read more

Our server at our hotel suggested this place and she was not wrong. This place really blew us away! I got the steak melt and my husband (first time yelp reviewing with a husband woohoo!) got the grilled piggy cheese I think it was called...both were fantastic! The Au jus for the steak melt was so tasty and worked for the grilled cheese too. Perfect combo. Would recommend both of those sandwiches. I also got a bit greedy with the coffee and got both an iced latte and a regular hot coffee and both were great. Both were also perfect with the amazing carrot cake slice we got. The cream cheese icing was so light and not overpowering as it sometimes can be on a carrot cake. The food was amazing, and we both finished everything...it was a lot of food! There aren't that many places to eat in the Los Alamos area but this place is worth it! The food is amazing and the sandwiches are worth getting. If you don't eat pork this place might not be right for you since most of the meals have some type of pork in it. We got so lucky when we decided to stop here on our way from Bandelier to Santa Fe. It's the most inviting place! We had top notch service. Delicious wine. And the food!! I had the carne adovada stew - so rich in depth of flavor. Yum! My friend had the Italian Stew and it was delicious as well and she's a soup snob. We topped it all off with an Apple streudel bar. We stopped for a late lunch after a hike in Bandelier because our only other choice was the cafe at the park (rarely a good choice). This is an order at the counter and have someone carry over your food place, and all of the tables were long high tops. Service was friendly and the food was solid. I had the BLT, which was nice - I enjoyed the chipotle mayo, but it needed a bit more bacon. However, the gazpacho I got on the side was excellent. read more

I started coming here a few years ago when it was inspired southern cooking. it's devolved steadily over the years to the point now where I am disappointed that I ended up here because the always dependable Fleur de Lys (which has the best coffee in northern New Mexico and makes it totally worth the drive from Santa Fe) is closed for vacation. if you're into eggs, good! they are in every dish. however, every dish is beyond mediocre now. I can name 10 better diners/restaurants not too far away. Unfortunately, none of them are here. sadly after many disappointments, this will be our last visit to Pig and Fig until they have new management and a new menu. read more
