I like to give my ratings out based on what a place is. This place isn't fancy. It's not fine dining. It's a greasy spoon place. The food was perfectly fine for what it was. I had eggs and bacon. Both were great. I got hashbrowns and toast with it. The toast was great. The hashbrowns were simply cut potatoes that were grilled. I expect a bit more from a place that specializes in breakfast. SOMETHING in the hashbrowns would be nice... namely flavor? Onions? Cheese? Some peppers? Some herbs? Really anything would be an improvement. My wife had 2 eggs and 2 pancakes with a side of sausage patties. She said it was pretty good. The service was attentive and fine. He was a very nice guy. I highly, highly recommend this delicious treasure along the Oregon coast. We went on our first adventure along the Oregon coast since moving to WA, and we kept running into these Pig 'N Pancake restaurants with Huge lines so we knew the food was going to be delicious. We stayed in the next door Atomic Motel, so this was our perfect chance to try out the food. I ordered the eggs Benedict (after seeing it on a yelp photo), and my wife ordered the garden skillet. I have never actually ordered eggs Benedict, but I am so glad I took a chance! The English muffin, poached eggs, ham, and hollandaise sauce were all Incredible (again, Incredible). The side of pancakes also consisted of some of the best pancakes I have ever had. My wife loved her order as well, but deep down I know she yearned for my delicious eggs Benedict. About her skillet, she said, "The garden skillet was tasty with a mix of veggies with cheese, and the sides of toast and fruit were delicious. A nice healthier option that still tastes yummy." I give this place a perfect 5/5. The absolute only negative thing I can think of to say is that I wish Pig N' Pancake would help me get a franchise started up here in Washington ! read more

Things are definitely changing in the world. We went in tonight and were pretty disappointed with the operation of things, not necessarily the food. I ordered the taco omelette and girlfriend ordered the crab Benedict (half order). The food itself was pretty tasty, but our server wasn't very friendly or attentive. She never came back once for refills, check if it were good....NOTHING! What she was doing was vacuuming....an hour before close obviously terrible management allow or make staff vacuum long before closing. It was noisy which made it impossible for pleasant conversation and she was kicking up dust....if this isn't management's decision (which is AWFUL management skills at best) she needs to know kicking up dust and being annoying LOUDLY is no bueno during service. Underwhelmed. We were happy with the food, but it was totally uninspired. Bored employees did nothing to impress us, and the food was slapped on the plate with little sign of care of pride. No garnish, nothing special at all. Food was exactly as ordered but the chicken fried steak was soggy and the gravy was just gray flour, grease, and water with no salt or anything. We left wondering what all the fuss was about. A cute name and logo do not make a nice dining experience. We ate at their store in Newport a couple of years ago and it was pleasant and even fun. The chicken fried steak, pancakes, and bacon were a few of the things we had and they were especially delicious. The eggs and hash brown were just a bit bland, but with a little salt and pepper they were yummy for sure (adding ketchup makes it especially delicious if that's your thing haha). This place is busy as heck on the weekends but we still got a table really fast. Plus it smelled just like the diner of my past, so lots of sentimentality. And when the condensation on my ice cold pint of water caused my butter fingers to spill all over my lap, suddenly three or four servers came out of nowhere to rescue me and help clean up. The Astoria crowd watched in awe. That all said, if scored on a pass/fail system, the food did pass. But it was highly mediocre--my eggs Benedict was a bit runny (runny whites) and the hollandaise was bland, while the deli ham (read: not bacon of any sort) was super-duper salty. For a place called Pig 'N Pancake I expected much better ham and probably not deli ham; based on other reviews, the crab was the way to go. Oops. My co-eater's omelette was a bit more flavorful but still blah given bacon was a main ingredient and had its own runny spots. Bottom line: Great service. Meh food. There's something to be said about slow eating: more time spent on seasoning and making sure the eggs aren't undercooked, even if it means customers must wait a couple more minutes for a table. read more

When the food arrived I asked if the kielbasa was chicken he told me that it was polish and that the chicken is no longer available tho they've yet to take it off the menu... he said they have turkey so I asked for that. He took my plate back and within minutes returned with cold eggs soggy hash browns and what he said was turkey kielbasa (but looked exactly the same as the polish from earlier).
