I need to write this review now. It's been two hours since we got to this restaurant and over an hour and a half since we ordered our food and I need to capture this feeling. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone who respects their own time. It is 9:50pm. We ordered our food at 8. No one's even acting like it's a big deal. It's unconscionable. We've traveled quite a bit & lived in Texas for 13 yrs. This was the best brisket & rack ribs Iv3 ever had! The brisket was sliced thin & was absolutely amazing. The ribs had quite a bit of rub on them but the were very, very tender. We had chips & salsa before & their salsa was really good too. Not hot, if that's what you like, but good spice combo. it's a funky little old house, but it filled up quickly & people were waiting when we left. They were putting together a huge takeout order, & advertising for help, but we just ate chips, relaxed. If you're in a big hurry, this isn't the place for you, but if not the wait, which wasn't unreasonable for us, the food is well worth it. Sure wish it was closer to home! read more

We am very disappointed with our order. We were recommended to eat at this restaurant and when we placed a to go order in person today, our order was horrible!! We attempted to phone in an order and order online and were told they unplugged their phone and online ordering was not working. We received only half our order and did not realize we had missing food until we unpacked it at our home an hour away. There was no receipt stapled to our bags and when I attempted to call the restaurant the phone was busy and after 45 mins of attempting to call and rectify the missing items, full rack of ribs, smokehouse hamburger, baked potatoe, fried ocra, fried pickles and all the additional side for our main dishes, our order, I gave up. We will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone nor will be ordering from this restaurant for ourselves ever again. I wish this could have been rectified but we were not willing to drive back an hour for an in person conversation. Update: I was able to contact the restaurant 25 mins before closing. The staff was not able to refund my missing items nor provide a gift card because it would require approval from the owner who is currently in London. They were able however, to provide us our order when we can pick it up on Saturday. read more

I've always enjoyed coming here. I've felt it was a reasonably priced please to eat in Whitefish with consistently yummy barbeque. Then, I discovered their salsa and grit sauce (see pics). Put those sauces on everything and you have a flavor bomb in your mouth! Smoked Chicken Wings and Fish Tacos are my favorites. I love that you can eat outside in the summer, with Big Mountain looming above you (I almost called it Whitefish Mountain!!!!). Beer prices are good. It's the little things. Allow me to set the stage. We were told this was a must eat at restaurant. We drove 30 miles out of our way to eat here. We arrived around 6pm on a Tuesday night. The place was busy but not packed. We were told to take any seat and a waitress would be with us shortly. Twenty minutes later the waitress arrived. We had found the menu online and were ready to order. She told us we needed to wait and she'd be back. We finally ordered and surprisingly the food arrived in about 15 minutes. The chips and salsa was okay although the chips were all from the bottom of the bag, broken crumbs. The kettle chips are store bought and mediocre at best. The pulled pork is tender, however it isn't seasoned, again very average. The bill was 90 for 2 adults, 2 kids. Poor service, average food and costly. Cannot recommend and would not return. read more

There's a ton of places to go for lunch or dinner in Whitefish. The weather is practically perfect in every way (I'm sure Mary Poppins would agree). If you're looking for a casual place to grab a bite, and you don't want to be disappointed with mediocre food, THEN THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. I'm from Texas, and we know how to do barbecue. This is one of the best places I've eaten barbecue outside my home state. Now, there is a big Texas flag hung there, so maybe I'm biased. But in my defense, there was also an American and Canadian flag waving. The service is a little slow, but I think that's just because the pace is a little slow in Montana. That's the whole point of going there! Order the brisket. The pulled pork is excellent. The macaroni and cheese is great. The fried okra is as fresh as I have ever had (and it's a little on the salty side - the way I like it). The nachos were a perfect complement to a cold beer. I hate to throw negativity out in the world, especially in a small-ish town. this was the grossest restaurant experience I've had. the food tasted good but I only got a few bites in before my stomach was turned by the lack of basic cleanliness from the staff. I just hope they don't make someone sick. 1. watched the head waiter(tress) pull a dirty fork out of the trash to put in a bus try and immediately grab a plate and served it to a customer without washing hands. 2. bus person was literally throwing trash across the dining room and let it lay on the floor. 3. my fork still had someone else's old food on it. 4. the bus person set another table's dirty plate on my table while I was eating. 5. bus person threw down a filthy bus rag on my table right in front of me while I was eating. We have often raved about the piggyback bbq in whitefish and have brought many friends there. I am sad to write about our unfortunate experience and why the rating is a 3 instead of 5 star. I ordered one of the 8-10 platters with all the fixins plus an extra 1/2 rack of ribs and buns. I called about 10 days before we needed the order. Then decided to call a day before to confirm the order. Hmmm the nice man I spoke with did not seem to have an order for us so I repeated it and paid for it in advance. My husband picked up the order. He questioned that he only had a couple of bags, when his wife was told to bring someone with him to pick up the order because there was a lot of food. He asked 3 times if this was the entire order. He got home and I glanced at the food and asked if he left the rest in the car. Lol He had not and said they told him that he had it all. He drove back insisting that they look for the rest of the 'prepaid' order. This was very embarrassing to us in front of our guests. When he got home, the food he first brought home was cold and we could not believe how dry the ribs were. Will never make a large order to go again, but will definitely be back to eat there. We went here in 2021 when we were in the area. It was on a whim and I thought this BBQ pit would be a gem. First, the ambience was not inviting. We sat ourselves inside and waited about 5-10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. When someone finally greeted us, they did not take our order, or bring us any water. There were so many flies inside! It was an embarrassing amount, with about 5-7 looming over our table alone! There were a bunch of sauce bottles on the table, which was sticky, and the bottles were poorly maintained - very sticky and with crusted tips. Music was also playing loudly. We ordered and the food arrived about 10 minutes after. I ordered a beef brisket sandwich and my husband ordered the pork verde tacos. The food was sadly mediocre. My sandwich was soggy and the kettle chips on the side seemed as though they came from a store bought bag. The brisket quality was average, a little bland and lacked a smoke ring. My husband's pork was just "tender enough", but also very bland. The sauce bottles at our table were suspect, and we could not use them to help with the flavor. We don't dine-in often, but when we do, we expect better service, dining environment, and great food, especially for a $50+ bill for two. Because the place is so small in size, the dining environment should at least be managed better regarding the table cleanliness and sauce bottles. I was between giving this place two or three stars, but three stars would be so generous. I hope others have had much better experiences with this establishment, I personally would not recommend it. read more
