Pulled into parking lot and saw two large offset smokers rolling smoke so that was a good first sign. I went with the staple and simple test and ordered the pulled pork and it was a great choice. Great flavor and mild smoke. Surprised, I insisted to the waitress that ownership had to have some Texas ties and that was confirmed. Visited piggyback on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Plenty of outdoor seating so we sat outside. Music was playing and you could watch the BBQ being made at the grill. We ate here in February and it was wonderful. Ate here again a few days ago and it was very good. Meat was a bit dry but portions were good sized. Did takeout another day and all I can say is beware of the portions of the sides. The side of Mac and cheese was 1/2 cup in a small container for $4.50 which was very different from the in-person portion. Side of ranch dressing was $3.50! I don't even know where to start. I really wish we had the experience that others did in some of the more positive reviews, but we didn't, and neither did other patrons in the restaurant. We went last night (Friday, September 3rd), around 8:15. It took the waiter a bit to offer drinks, and while he brought some of them, failed to bring the others, and forgot to put our appetizer in. He seemed to be intentionally avoiding his tables as well. We waited about 20 more minutes before he came over and took our order. Keep in mind that at this point, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, with maybe 5 total tables (two servers on staff). Takeout orders were flying out of the kitchen, but at about 45 minutes, we were still missing drinks and hadn't received our appetizers. The table next to us also had seemed to be there awhile without much service. We were chatting with them, and found they had been waiting over 1.5 hours and hadn't received their food or even been offered more drinks. They ended up getting up to complain, and learned their food wasn't close to being done, and ended up paying for their drinks and leaving. We eventually did the same, about an hour after arriving (still no appetizers, missing drinks, and no refills). When we went up to complain, they had just barely started our appetizers, meanwhile, the cook is yelling at the servers, not using gloves, wiping his sweat and then touching food, and several times, came out with a dirty cup and poured himself a beer. We're patient people who have worked in the service industry, and I understand staffing is a challenge lately. The servers seemed to be doing their best given the support they had from their management, and it's sad to see them both lose tables over $200 in less than an hour because the cook was lazy and not doing his job. This place was not doing the bare minimum at all, and really, it's quite gross to see the way the cook handled the food. It doesn't surprise me that others have said they found beard hairs in their food (he had a beard). No gloves, no hair net, no hygiene really. By the end of this ordeal, we were forced to eat fast food because the service had taken so long, and things in town had closed. We really wanted to like the place (it was cute and really smelled delicious), but that wasn't in the cards. A second chance isn't really something we're willing to give it at this point either. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Management/ownership should take note. read more

My husband and I ordered the chips and salsa and we split a chicken tender platter (now realizing I eat like a child...) but wow we were blown away. This is a divey spot - you'll walk up to see the smoke pit in the parking lot and people eating on mismatched picnic tables out back, but the service is extremely friendly (we came in just after a group of 19 people and our waitress was kind enough to ask the kitchen to put in our food first!) and they had live music outside as well! The chips and salsa were great; for $5 we got more than we could finish on a single plate. If you don't like cilantro you will hate this salsa - it's cilantro heavy - but being a huge cilantro fan myself this stuff was a 10/10. The chicken tender platter comes with 2 sides of your choice as well as a slice of cornbread with honey butter. We got beans and Mac and cheese. The beans were perfect, the Mac was good but a little bland compared to the beans or the hot honey bourbon sauce the chicken comes with, so we hit it with whatever the golden colored BBQ sauce is at the table and wow that was the absolute best BBQ sauce we've tasted! I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and it was delicious, my parents ordered a beef brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and hush puppies the three of us enjoyed the wonderful tasty meals. The only two issues was lack of napkins in the dispenser at the table as well as the flies which were quite irritating. Otherwise everything was good from the service to the food. DIRTY, BAD FOOD, APATHETIC STAFF. What the heck happened to this place??? In the past, the service was ok and the food used to be decent. It was funny that on a Saturday night, they were not at all busy. This year, we were greeted at the entrance with a sign that said something to the effect of "due to government handouts we are short staffed, so bear with us". I ignored the obvious political overtones of it and thought that's funny that none of the other restaurants in Whitefish seem to be complaining. No one handed us menus or cutlery or water for quite a while, so I just got up and helped myself. My family and I had the fried okra, hush puppies and burgers. The hush puppies and okra came out relatively quickly. The main entrees took 75 minutes to show up. It had gotten to the point where I was just ready to get the check and leave, when the food came. The burgers were bland and burnt. The sausage on the Big Mountain Burgers gave us terrible nausea for several hours. Additionally, the tables that were cleared were not cleaned or disinfected as they claim on google. The staff seemed apathetic. read more

What a great way to top off a hike a Whitefish Mountain! The smoked sausage was perfect and brisket had that wonderful pink ring and was nice and tender! Baked beans were spot on and the mac n cheese heavenly! Hubby had the chicken tortilla soup and loved it (he thinks there was pulled pork in there too!). Had to wait another 15 minutes for the brisket and never received the cornbread-- which is totally fine because I received mine and it was terrible. It was hard as a rock.
