REVIEW IS ONLY FOR ORDER OF SIDES: I wasn't too hungry but my buddies and I decided on Pik Nik for a Friday lunch. There was plenty of seating, but the counter was busy because a lot of people ordered food to go. I ordered 2 small sides--brussel sprouts + bacon, and kale + apple salad. We sat down and waited for our food, and when the food came out I was surprised because I had requested it in a take-out container but instead it was in ceramic bowls. Also, my brussel sprouts were in one bowl, and my salad was in a smaller bowl. I don't know why there's a discrepancy between these sides but the salad bowl was definitely smaller. Didn't ask about it but just quite odd. The brussel sprouts were not cooked too well done as other meat places char their sprouts, and there was no crisp because they were coated in this sticky sweet glaze, which I assume is their barbeque sauce. I've never really had sweet brussel sprouts before but I was not a fan...it was overly sweet, tasted like syrup, and really drowned out the bacon and sprout savoriness. The kale salad was average, also was too sweet (added sugar on top of the apple). I can see MAYBE these sides pairing well with the bbq meat since sweet + salty is a combo, but I wouldn't get these sides by themselves. But then again, good sides should be able to fend for themselves independent of their meat counterparts. I was disappointed to say the least. Stopped at Pik Nik before the show at the Tarrytown Music Hall for dinner. Not crowded at all so we were able to snag one of the tables away from the front door (a little drafty near the door on a cold evening). I chose the "two meat platter" - the brisket and the barbecued ribs. (Next time I'll do the single meat plate - the portions are very generous!) For sides, the brussell sprouts with bacon and the vinegar cucumbers. The ribs were excellent - perfectly cooked and succulent! I thought the brisket was a little dry but very flavorful. The available barbecue sauce helped. The sides went well with the meats. The Honey chose the pulled pork plate - also a generous serving, well cooked and flavorful. Best damn brisket I've ever had in an adorable homey space. Food: Tried The Texan sandwich and the sloppy brisket sandwich. Both were spectacular, each with unique sauces. The sides were the classics - collard greens, cornbread, and Brussels sprouts. Equally solid and perfectly prepared. Side note, I've eaten at Blue Smoke, Hill Country, Mighty Quinn's, and been to the Big Apple BBQ twice. The brisket here wins, and I don't say that lightly. Good work. To top it off, the prices are crazy reasonable for this caliber of cue. read more

So, been wanting to try this place for a while. We now have tried the brisket and don't need to go back. IMO, it's about average or just below average for bbq brisket outside of TX. So, on its own, I give the brisket about 2.5 stars. Way too dry for our taste, no marbling, etc. But, after calling ahead and no one answering, drove to the store. The younger server (who you paid, etc.) was great, but waited for several minutes while the one preparing the brisket (maybe owner or boss) was just chatting to another person instead of prepping the food - and no one else was there!!! Guess they don't need our business. So, we can easily comply. Good luck finding decent bbq in westchester or NYC. Maybe dinosaur is your best option. We loved them in Syracuse - just don't know of their quality now that they've expanded. read more

After my 4th or 5th time eating here recently I think it deserves a review. Each time I've gone here the food just seemed to impress me more and more (this can coincide with the restaurant now being open for over a year). Yesterday I ordered the Two Meat Platter that comes with two sides. Spare Ribs - phenomenal flavor due to the fall off the bone meat and Bark/marbling. I think after multiple times here this has become my favorite item. Perfect pairing with their OG cue sauce, though I've had with Carolina gold and since then been a fan of that style of sauce on ribs. Beef Brisket - best brisket I've had in westchester, extremely tender and juicy, with great bark/marbling. Thin cut. Perfect pairing with their OG cue sauce. Potato Salad- had bacon, extremely fresh tasting Mac N Cheese - phenomenal, additionally topped with crushed cheesy Doritos. Everything you want in a side Mac n cheese Pickles - delicious little compliment to the meal. I've also been dreaming about their Dino Short Rib... since I've tried it. Another fall off the bone production. Since summertime is coming, I suggest getting To-GO and eating by the waterfront! (Which has been delightful) Service was wonderful, I was greeted by such a sweet woman when I was in yesterday and everybody on the staff has always been helpful in helping me decide what to eat. Omg..... delicious!!! My boyfriend & I did take out tonight we called ahead and everything was ready right at 530 which was super appreciated. The employee on the phone was very nice and provided great customer service. We ordered the beef brisket box, beans with sausage, fried chicken sandwich, potato salad with bacon, coleslaw, Brussels sprouts with bacon and cornbread (of course). Just wandered in here and was hungry for BBQ, literally no expectations, was blown away by the quality and presentation. The staff member tried to resolve the issue by offering to split our party, however that was unacceptable to us. Have seen Pik Nik on seamless before but told my husband I wanted to try it in person because I didn't want soggy BBQ. Went for lunch and both my husband and I had the brisket. I don't care for fatty meat so I ordered mine lean and it was out of this world. It needed nothing on it and the meat was probably some of the best brisket I've ever had. The owner Steve delivered our food and let us know he made a BBQ sauce with a mustard caviar! ALSO amazing!! I'm not a big fan of sauce and most often times don't think good BBQ needs sauce. The brisket was delicious with and without the sauce. I had the mac and cheese and cole slaw for sides which were both fantastic! My husband had the brussel sprouts and beans. He felt the brussel sprouts could have been a bit more well done, but he really loved the beans. We ordered a piece of cornbread (should never disappoint with BBQ) which had butter and syrup on it. The cornbread itself was wonderful! I didn't think it needed any of the condiments because it was that awesome without it. The one tiny drawback was the menu didn't have baby backs but without fail, Steve said we could give him a call (2 days notice) and he would smoke the baby backs!!! Holy Mary mother of god this is the best fried chicken I have ever eaten in my life. Better than Amy Ruth's or Sylvia's in Harlem and better than Mrs. Wilkes in Savannah. We also ordered the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and wings. All of the meat is perfectly cooked. The OG bbq sauce is what all bbq sauces should be made like. The potato salad could use a little salt. The baked beans were not my cup of tea. The biscuits and cornbread were incredible. The mac and cheese was great - it is a little sweet, but certainly delicious. The food was okay. Was designed along the lines of Dinosaur's and Hill Country in Manhattan, but it was not half as good given the amount of money for lunch for two people ($75). Took my mom here before a show at the music hall and it was delicious. The staff was super friendly, offered suggestions and free samples to help us decide on sides! My mom got a pulled pork sandwich, which was delicious on its own, and topped it off with the sauce that's on the table. I went with an odd choice and got their ramen. The beef in it was really good and so was the flavor of the ramen itself, everything was made right st the restaurant. Their hibiscus tea was amazing, I wish I could take a gallon home. Delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly staff! It's nice to have good barbecue and this is the place to go! The brisket, ribs and chicken wings are all delicious. Update July 10, 2021, 5pm. I normally come here and always purchase the BBQ Ribs, Cole Slaw, Sweet Potato Fries, and Corn Bread that are always fresh and delicious. However, this time two of our food items were not as fresh in our opinion. When we arrived home with our food order the Corn Bread was dry, and not moist, like it normally is and could tell that the bread was definitely a day or two old. We ended up throwing out all the Corn Bread in the trash. Plus, our Spare Ribs did not fall off the bone as it normally does, so our guess is that these Ribs were sitting around for a while. The Cole Slaw was delicious, and so was the Sweet Potato Fries. Maybe they had an off day, but they should not have sold its customers the Corn Bread. All and all, we will give Pik Nik BBQ one more try and in the future we will ask before ordering when the bread and ribs were made. read more

This place has the worst customer service. Ever. I hate to say this as a local business that I would love to see successful, but twice I have been burned by them and that's it for me. The food is good, bordering on great. But I have had two situations where they have either cancelled pickup orders I made at the last minute (without notice, no call, no attempt to contact me at all). Three stars for inconsistency because we've eaten there a handful of times and it literally alternates between "this is really good" and "man, I really overpaid." Example 1 - PLT: 1st time there was delicious bacon and avocado coming out from the bun on all sides. Went back a week later and it was a dinky sandwich with 3 small slivers of avocado and Houdini bacon basking in a bed of iceberg. Example 2 - Fish & Chips: 1st time I ordered one order and received enough for two. 2nd time there were several pieces of fried fried (where's the fish?) dripping grease and hardly enough actual fried fish for one. I have ridiculously low cholesterol but that doesn't mean I want to eat plain fried grease. Example 3 - Brisket: 1st time really dry and a little burnt. 2nd time a friend ordered it and it was actually pretty good with that fatty/crisp edge that separates overcooked beef from brisket. Service is likewise a roll of the dice. The same cashier can be nice as well as curt in the same five minute span. She will go out of the way to offer a customer a sample of a hot side to taste. Then in the next breath, in response to a question as to whether the short rib platter ($33) is a lot of food, she unhelpfully states "it's two bones." When the customer repeated the question, the same cryptic response was given. Guess the cashier's never been grocery shopping because two bones can come in a lot of sizes. Conclusion: Come if you're a gambling man craving meat. read more

Pik Nik BBQ is a gem in Westchester. Out of all the BBQ restaurants in NYC and the Westchester county, Pik Nik BBQ is THE undisputed, best BBQ spot. I've had some serious BBQ down at Texas where my family lives and let me tell you, these guys know what they're doing. They smoke and braise their meats to perfection. You can really taste the juices of the meat as well before dipping it into their delicious BBQ sauce. Even their sides were phenomenal. The sweet potato fries are the best I've ever had. The sides not only compliment the meats, they stand very well on their own also. Their cornbread is to die for. It's a generous slice with a moist interior and a crunchy crust dipped in maple syrup. Again, best cornbread I've ever had. Their BBQ ribs fell right off the bone, juicy as can be. Not only is their food amazing, but their hospitality is second to none. Came across this place through Yelp and after reading all the positive reviews I was dying to try their food. The restaurant is a small yet cute spot, a few tables inside and a few outside. The staff are super friendly and willing to explain the menu in full detail (esp if you're a newbie like me). That makes their customer service stand out above the rest!
