Don't be fooled by the yummy-looking items on display... because they're not. Got a custard cinnamon roll that looked incredible... it was cold, hard, and dry. And expensive! My partner and I forced ourselves to eat it, but didn't finish it and sadly threw it away because it seemed like it was old. Maybe if it had been warmed up it would've been a 5/10 instead of a 2/10. Now it makes sense why this bakery had no line even though it's at the front of the public market!

A unique bakery in Pike Place that offers various the usual pastries along with some unique ones such as divinity cookies, Texas donuts, and pastry cups. We tried a mint chocolate divinity cookie and a raspberry pastry and enjoyed both! The cookie had a uniquely chalky texture that crumbled really easy. Great flavor on it though - it reminded me of the ice cream flavor. The raspberry pastry was bursting with raspberry filling, and the texture of the pastry was really good!

Custard filled maple.

For the location the price is very accurate. For the best filled maple donut I've ever had it was honestly inexpensive. The donut was just perfect, not too sweet, and just the right size. I tend to avoid Pike place like the plague it is but now I have to occasionally go back for this damn donut.

Such a hidden gem! Been to Pike Place market a few times, but never spotted this place! Variety of pastries, cakes, donuts and more. Loved the donuts and pastries we tried that day. Best part, very reasonable price! Service was excellent. Very friendly staffs. No place to sit and enjoy the pastries. Mainly a takeout ! Loved it!

A nice bakery for your sugary needs. The staff are welcoming and to the point. I wouldn't say that there is a lot of variety, but there should be at least one thing that catches your eye. Butterscotch always seems to get me so I went with the butterscotch divinity. It was super sweet so I could only eat a few bites every so often, but the butterscotch was a hit. Everything looked fresh and overall a great spot for breakfast or an afternoon dessert.

Blueberry Coffee Cake

Pike Place Bakery has reopened!!! It's really nice to see more businesses return to the market before the summer comes to an end. My son and husband couldn't stop eyeing the Texas Donut, it was massive!! The selections are plentiful and unique from the other bakeries within the market. The blueberry coffee cake is extremely moist, not overly sweet, and filled with bursting blueberries. You won't be disappointed if you stop by to indulge your sweet tooth; I highly recommend!!

Donuts. Croissants. Bear claws. Cinnamon rolls. Yummy bread. The portions are so big that it's shareable. Stop and grab yourself dessert!! I'm coming back.

As a cannoli lover, I can honestly say this is the real deal. The shell was perfectly fried, and the filling was soft, creamy, and was just the right amount of sweet. I honestly had a hard time choosing a flavor, but since this was my first visit, I went for the original (my favorite type of cannoli anyway). Next time, I'm going to try the chocolate peanut butter and/or Oreo! Pike Place Bakery is located in the heart of Pike Place Market amidst of all the commotion. It's a little tough to find, in-fact, I accidentally stumbled upon it today. I'm thankful that I did.

Cream cheese cannoli - same your money
Alison O.

I was there right when they opened so I'm not sure if that was the reason why the case was not full. I ordered the standard cream cheese cannoli while my friend was curious about their chocolate chip divinity cookie. There was no line and service was quick. The prices weren't too bad and probably on par for being front and center of Pike Place. Honestly, the cannoli wasn't that great - it was way too sweet and the consistency was way too thick. The best cannolis I've had were in Boston and these did not even compare. I would not order it again, however the divinity cookie - oh my! It doesn't have the same crumble and texture of a regular cookie because it is made with powdered sugar. The color also may be off putting as it looks like its not even cooked. It was very interesting and different for a chocolate chip cookie. I wish I had a cup of coffee to dip this into. 10 out of 10!

Giant chocolate frosted with sprinkles! Sorry it's half eaten...we couldn't wait!

I visit this Barkley every time I'm in Pike Place! I'm a little sad about the other reviews because every pastry I've ever gotten has been delicious. I always get some doughnuts and coconut macaroons for my dad. The doughnuts are really dense, moist and cakey all tasking super fresh! The giant doughnuts stay fresh for days and we just cut of little pieces as we go! I take the macaroons back to my dad on the east coast and he thinks they're magical even a few days old! The only reason I give it 4 stars is because it can get a little pricey. Each item is at least $2 for one thing. There's one woman there who is exceptionally nice. I changed my order halfway through and she was totally ok with it and happy to help!

Maple Cream and Cinnamon roll with cream cheese

I am not even joking, the Maple filled donut is probably the best donut I have ever had. I felt like I was in heaven. The cream isn't too sweet, it had a bit of a runny consistency and it was so cold. The maple melted in my mouth and gave it this delicious sweetness. I will think about this donut for the rest of my life.

We ordered a marble loaf, croissants, chocolate hazelnut croissant (casse-noisette), brownie, kouign-amann and the fraisier. Oh. My. Heaven. This is the first bakery in a long time we have been craving days later. Everything. I mean EVERYTHING was delicious with the exception of the marble loaf. The loaf was extremely firm and had no flavor. My son who loves everything sweet only had two bites. The rest made up for it. My husband LOVES croissants and this is by far the best he has had in all of Washington. The casse-noisette was ridiculous. Often when you have stuffed croissants they either have barely any or way too much "stuffing". This was perfect. The perfect blend of chocolate and hazelnut. The crunch of the hazelnuts on top were a welcome contrast. Cannot wait to return. What a gem!

Croissant - perfect, I would have gotten another one but will look forward to returning before our trip ends. Avocado toast - egg added (extra) was the best bang for your buck and the lightly dressed, bright, crisp salad was a pleasant surprise. Chicken salad - no picture but was a no-frills, arugula based salad with shredded chicken and a hint of cheese. This was our least favorite item and if not for this the food would have been given 5 stars. Large latte - generous portion and delicious with the star of the show - a plain croissant! The ambiance is impeccably French cafe too but the way in which you order wasn't efficiently laid out; seemed a bit confusing. Perhaps it was simply due to there being a large group who were seated right near the slightly hidden cashier (to the side of the pastry display) or we weren't sure what to expect on our first time there. We sat outside and that was extremely pleasant. Definitely would go back for the croissant alone!

Instead, it turned into a masterclass in how to make customers feel completely unwelcome. The sticker shock started immediately. Six donuts cost $25. Expensive? Absolutely. But I was willing to pay premium prices if the experience matched. It didn't. My daughter politely asked if she could order a ham and cheese croissant. The cashier's response? "Well, we have no croissants available... so... no." Not "I'm sorry, we're sold out." Not even a hint of courtesy. Just a cold, dismissive response to an 11-year-old. Then I asked whether they made specialty coffee because my daughter wanted a latte. The response: "We have an espresso machine." Thanks, but that wasn't the question. It felt like every interaction was treated as an inconvenience. After we finally finished ordering, we waited nearly 20 minutes for what should have been a straightforward order. Meanwhile, our coffees sat getting colder by the minute while nobody seemed remotely concerned. Then the food arrived... except one breakfast sandwich was missing. This was somehow the most frustrating part. Instead of a simple apology or, "We'll get that right out," the cashier immediately became defensive, pulled up the order screen as if I were the one making a mistake, and said, "I could charge you for the fourth one if you want." No apology. No ownership. No attempt to recover the situation. Just more attitude. It's remarkable how quickly rude, indifferent service can sour what should have been a pleasant breakfast. The food might be good, but it's hard to appreciate it when you're made to feel like your business is a burden. For a place happy to charge premium prices - including a jaw-dropping $58 coconut cream pie - you'd expect at least a basic level of professionalism and hospitality. Instead, the overwhelming impression was arrogance: the assumption that people will keep coming no matter how poorly they're treated. Seattle has too many outstanding bakeries staffed by people who actually appreciate their customers to waste your time or money here. This place has earned exactly one visit from me, and that's one too many.

This is the version I had. It's fantastic. The first thing that stands out is the amazing crunch from the cornflakes on the breading. Compared to similar versions of this food I've had - the doughnut is always soft on the outside. And this can be quite enjoyable, but when there's a textural contrast coming from the outside, it just elevates it to a whole another level. The individual cornflakes as well as the entire outside is breaded perfectly. Biting into this is such a satisfying experience. The inside is also quite good. It's a vanilla custard flavor, and it fits in really well by both filling the doughnut in volume but not being excessive enough to ooze out easily. The flavor is quite sweet and vanilla-forward, and very nice. For just $4, these are around the size of your average doughnut. There weren't any other customers inside and we were greeted with an empty display case in the front. While barren, the owner, a gruff* French gentlemen, confirmed that he still had choux pastry left with a choice of either vanilla, coconut, pistachio, or hazelnut. We decided to go with the pistachio, which he assembled fresh for us, first by piping pistachio cream inside the choux shell, then dipping in melted chocolate and sprinkling pistachio on top. Pistachio Choux ($6) - The choux is excellent, baked until deliciously crisp on the exterior while the inside remains soft, eggy, and tender. Since it's fresh filled and we ate it right afterwards, the cream never migrated to saturate the crust - I suspect people with issues with mushiness probably let the cream puff sit too long before consuming. The cream, which is piped to the brim, pushes out against the delicate shell, causing each bite to almost squirt out a bit of the luscious, silky whipped custard. The cream coats the lips and mouth with a layer of fat. It's not too sweet and has a light nutty pistachio flavor. The melted chocolate the top is dipped into glues on all of the pistachio dip. The chocolate is slightly bitter, yet sweet, so it helps cut through some of the rich silkiness of the cream. The pistachios on top act like a crumble, perhaps pulverized and melded with butter to create a very rich yet pistachio forward mix. It's strongly flavored, and the chocolate creates such a strong cement that none of the nuts detach while eating. (5/5) Panterelli was a huge surprise as it wasn't even on our radar until we walked past the shop randomly while exploring the Farmers Market. It's a definite revisit in the future! *The owner isn't nearly as welcoming as a typical American small business owner, but is certainly friendly and eager to chat. I also love his attitude - looks aren't that important; it's the taste the reigns supreme!
