The French Dip had tender, thinly sliced, stacked, flavorful beef, and a soft but chewy roll. The au jus was too garlicky for my daughter, but it was actually amazing. Came by to grab a couple of pastries before walking around Pike Place Market on a Sunday morning and tried the almond bear claw and the sugar palmier cookie. The almond bear claw was super yummy, with a nice almond paste filling and reminded me of a good almond croissant except in danish form. Loved that they can heat it up so it tastes more fresh. Was food hopping around and decided to stop by and try Three Girls Bakery bc we saw it on food network. We tried the spinach and I think feta croissant. The croissant was so warm. I took a bite and the croissant was so flaky and warm. The croissant would flake and melt in my mouth and wasn't dry. The warm spinach and feta filling was to die for. Three Girls was the first licensed woman owned business in Seattle. Also it's the oldest continuously operating business in the market. You can get classic baked goods and pastries. Basically a lot of family owned businesses are in the market including this bakery. It was opened in 1912. This was owned by women at a time it was hard for women to be business owners. Over the years it has changed in ownership, but still has had the same classic baked goods. The Levy family has owned it since 1979, and has served favorites including their famous meatloaf sandwich. A few vegan options to get. It's about $4 to get a palmier. These come in a few flavors including cinnamon and sugar. Classic bakery with lots of favorites along with a few newer items. Amazing breads and desserts. I have a sister that lives in Seattle. Whenever I visit, I shop at Pike Place for provisions to make dinner while there (I'm a Chef in San Diego). Three Girls Bakery is on my short list of must-have staples for dinner. It's counter service, so after waiting in a short line I give the person at the register my order for bread and a few dessert bars, and they are in my hands and paid for very speedily. Because they are adjacent to the big market, the ambience is a little "hustle and bustle", but the service and the breads are top-notch! I visit my sister twice a year, and never miss an opportunity to buy bread at Three Sisters while there. On my recent work trip to the downtown area, i was looking for a place that i could buy something to bring into the office. I didnt want to just get some store bought goods as i wanted this to be a treat for my staff to show my appreciation for their hard work. I ended up getting an assortment of cookies. While the cost of about 2 dozen cookies did end up costing me about $60, the staff did appreciate the gesture. I did end up getting for myself two of the stuffed croissants, i got one with ham and cheese and the other with spinich and cheese. Overall i thought they were good but probably not worth the price which was about $6 each. Probably would have preferred just getting a egg mcmuffin from Mcdonalds or something and would have been more satisfied. We ordered three pastries and two sandwiches at the window, then waited at the bar, which has an open kitchen where you can watch them cook. The pastries were quite good, and I enjoyed the bites I had. Unfortunately, things went downhill when the sandwiches came out. One of the cooks had long hair like past his shoulders that wasn't tied back or covered with a hair net. Major gross-out and a total dealbreaker for me. Three girls bakery I have been coming here for 50 years. Wonderful selection of different baked goods. Ok, here is my secret vice. Raised on crappy sandwiches with questionable meat , is a memory my stomach cherishes a childhood weakness of mine. Reminiscing the flavor of cheap meat loaf tv dinners unfortunately has cast a taste memory with me. So coming here and ordering a meat loaf sandwich is a bow to my childhood taste buds. Granted, the bread here is fresh. I love sitting in the back lunch counter here. It brings me back to the days of school yard lunches. However, they pay much more attention to me and my order than the past. Their meatloaf sandwich is really much better than my past memories. My childhood meatloaf sandwiches are consistent with an unpalatable meatloaf mixture, often on stale bread with ketchup. My mother being frugal, would incorporate leftovers in the meatloaf that did not work well together. Leftover meat, vegetables and stale bread were added to make the meatloaf. A flavor combination that just didn't work well together. So ordering a meatloaf sandwich here, comes with many mixed memories. Have to say over the years, the quality pastries have always been fresh and excellent. The lunch counter has been a place where they fuss over me a bit. I love the attention. My mother passed away several years ago and I miss the simplicity of a good sandwich and nice service. Here, I can get order a sandwich and it is a much better version of a sandwich than I am used to. Somewhat embarrassed to admit to the sandwich weakness in me. This is our go-to bakery in downtown. Located in Pike Place Market, we grab loaves and single serve goodies from Three Girls on each visit to Seattle. We haven't eaten in the small attached restaurant, so I cannot comment on that, but the menu looks pretty nice and reasonably priced. There is always a bit of a line to order/pay at the window. While in line, we take turns scoping out the day's offerings displayed in the windows. Don't worry. The line moves fairly quickly. Over the years, we've had a huge variety of interesting breads, pastries, cookies, and other baked goods, and have enjoyed each. I had noticed this store in the last days every time I visited and after reading on Yelp I decided to make a visit. There was a little wait, one lady only was working in the window. There's a vending window and then further there's an inside seated area. Everything is displayed and then you also got a menu. I checked out the cookies and wanted a few but decided to start with one and glad I did. $2.50 is a good price however I did not like the cookie at all. Fantastic selection and the croissants are awesome. Was expecting a bakery and it has a stop-and-go cafe vibe. Staff was super friendly and everything is baked perfectly. Got 2 breakfast croissants and they were delicious. I don't like hot breakfast sandwiches and I don't feel I was missing anything, by having them at room temp, they were spot on.
