Honestly never thought I would review a tourist trap's chain location located in a mall, but pike place chowder was definitely a Seattle highlight. We came during their happy hour! It was a pleasant delight to learn that they offered discount on the small chowder and several appetizers. Chowder was not too thick to the point where it was some kind of cream, and it had a great consistency. Made me wish that I try the actual one in Pike Place. I was a bit concerned with the amount of vegetable chunks, but everything in the chowder was tender and soft. The clams were chewy - it was a whole medley of textures and tastes that I think clam chowder does best at showcasing. Fries were fluffy and it's saltiness paired with the chowder really well! Trust me, this is the way to go and you can get it and share it with a group of friends. Also, make sure to ask for more sourdough bread and oyster crackers, you will need it. - New England Chowder [GET]: The most famous and my favorite chowder of all times. It is surprisingly creamy and smooth like no others; the potato to soup ratio is perfect. I have had many chowders in SF and Boston, and they cannot compare to this one. I can tell its packed with meaty clams, flavored with bacon fat, onions, potatoes, and blend of herbs and spices. The flavors were on point. I devoured this one in a heartbeat. This is a MUST. - Halibut Chowder [GET]: This is also known as the Market Chowder, or the chowder special of the day. There's chunks of halibut, packed with celery, carrots, and onions. The halibut flavor was subtle and light, yet tasty. The consistency is not as thick, just the right amount for the oyster crackers. Personally, this is probably my second favorite, right before the lobster chowder. - Lobster Chowder [GET]: Lobster chowder is fresh and legit, but do not expect tons of lobster meat. I think I barely see anything, but the flavors was on point. Another solid choice. - Manhattan Style Chowder [SKIP]: This is my least favorite, probably a "do not order" from me. It got a more liquidity consistency, like a regular tomato soup, so nothing too special about this one. You are not missing out if you skip this. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - It is located in a mall on the higher floor right next to Ding Tai Feng. It is not busy and no line, so I do not mind walking a bit to eat here than the one at Pike Place Market.
