My dude isn't a big fan of lines, and have never understood why anyone in their right mind would stand and wait for something. As soon as we saw the line, he gave me the good ol' disapproving look. The lines were divided into 2, and there's a person outside that manages it and gives out menus. Want the chowder and the chowder only (w/o the bread bowl)?? Skip the line and order ahead through their website, or, grab one of the menus and take a pic of the QR code in the front. When picking up, go inside the building and walk all the way to the back. You will see the pickup area to the left. If you love variety like I do or don't want to feel heavy and bloated, the sampler would be perfect. You get four 5 oz cups of their seafood bisque, New England clam chowder, smoked salmon chowder and their market chowder (varies). You also get 2 slices of sourdough bread. The day of our visit, the market chowder was halibut and man, that was amazing. I would've loved a full-sized version of that. Everything was just so fresh. My least favorite was the seafood bisque, but it was my dude's favorite. All in all they were good. read more

I've been to the Pike Place location, and happy that there was one right next to my hotel! Enjoyed my last Seattle dinner by getting a half lobster roll with chowder, and added a side of fries. She did charge me more than she was supposed to for the combo, but I received my refund after pointing out the error. I also enjoyed a local pale ale while I waited. The lobster roll was good, but it was much smaller than I had imagined. Glad I had the yummy chowder and french fries to go with it. First off, I have traveled the country doing nothing but tasting chowder. 20 states and I can tell you that New HAMPSHIRE (Collins) has chowder that matches this chowder. With that said, this chowder is a solid 5 and is not salty at all. There must have been an accident if your chowder was salty. This chowder will have you begging for more! The downside: $11 for 8oz of chowder is steep! In order to taste other options you have to spend dearly for a sampler. They have a a 4oz serving they provide to food tours but you cant buy that size. Bummer!! We ordered frozen chowder to take home. Got home and slapped it in the pot and it didn't taste the same. And it wasn't as thick as the actual store. I don't understand why but I'm disappointed..I can add flour to thicken but I don't know what to do to enhance the flavor. read more

Came during Corona season. The wait was 5 minutes, which I guess is not normal. (I saw shirts being sold that said "I survived the line"?) We got the sampler offer since there was a check in deal on Yelp. Quantities were tinier than expected, but it did the job of sampling different flavors and crossing this off the list. The chowder was delicious. The seafood was fresh and the flavors were distinct. Really good. Seating indoors sucks. Not a lot of space and you're stuck standing there waiting for a table to open. Well, this place is No.1 chowder in the city for a reason. The food is deciduous and the price is unbeatable. I tried both this location and the one at the pike place market. Both locations serve great chowder and sandwiches, and I personally can't tell if there is any difference in the food. Both locations had a long wait time and this place felt even more crowded. The chowder is definitely a must-try, and I don't think the Shrimp Po'Boy is the best sandwich. Others looked better, but the sandwich was pricier than the chowder. read more

This Pike Place Chowder is located away from Pike Market inside of the Pacific Place Mall. Location was a bit harder to locate then expected. Small little restaurant. Order at the counter. They have a few tables and bar seating. New England Clam Chowder, medium - $7.75 - Clam to potato ratio was decent. Bacon adds that back smoke flavor but also makes it salty. Way overpriced for what you get. Chowder was exactly the same as the Pike Market location. If you want to avoid the crowds and outside seating, this is a good clean location. Due to various business commitments, I often find myself at Pacific Place by myself at mealtimes. This can be awkward for me because I'm shy about going to a restaurant by myself. So, Pike Place Chowder comes to the rescue! They have a rather large seating area where dining-for-one is easily accomplished. I usually get either of the two clam chowders or the corn chowder and if I'm extra hungry I'll add 2 pieces of fish [no chips please]. The food is always fresh and comes out quickly. If you have 2 or less people sitting at the bar seating can be fun, if your group is larger you can combine tables in the outer area. [Service:] I've eaten here in July for the last 3 years. Every year has been the same. The staff is 4/5 stars. They do everything you'd want, but aren't contributing to a 5 star experience per se. [Food:] Don't let the mall location fool you, or do, I don't care. The food here is amazing. I always get a roll of some kind. There are 3 types, crab, lobster Connecticut style and lobster Maine style. Crab is served cold, and is falls on the savory side of seafood. $25 ish Maine style is lobster, served cold with mayo. $30 ish Connecticut is lobster, served warm with butter. $30 ish Lobster falls more on the sweet side. You can get a "double" on the meat portion which only means twice as much meat, not 2 servings. $48 Lobster Roll: 5/5: I always get the Connecticut style double because I still over estimate my metabolism. It's always worth it. (*Pro Tip*:) A double portion is plenty for 2 people wanting an authentic lobster roll experience. Understand that seafood is expensive in general, our oceans are being over fished and truly great seafood is hard to find. I got to try the lobster roll combo that came with your choice of chowder. The New England Clam Chowder was delicious! I love how there were large chunks of clams and it was not just filled with potatoes. It was so creamy and not too salty that I would have loved to have another cup if I wasn't too full from the meal. The lobster roll on the other hand was kind of disappointing. Does this place live up to the hype? YES. This was possibly the best New England Clam Chowder I have ever eaten. The flavors are perfectly balanced, with the clam well-cooked (not over-cooked, just exactly at the right point) and distributed through the whole bowl. I greatly enjoyed the Salmon Chowder too, super rich and thick with perfect texture. I was concerned that capers are listed as an ingredient with the salmon and happy to note that the other flavors overwhelmed them (I hate capers).
