Although the food is not amazing it's still only $5 about the cheapest thing besides a spam musubi you can get in Waikiki. The burger was cooked perfectly and the kimchi slaw was a good spin on it. Because this is in Waikiki and we are not tourists I was unsure of how the quality would be, but this is legit. We loved everything we got. Spice levels were perfect. Unique tastes and flavors. We are vegetarian and worried there wouldn't be enough options but we shared the potato poke, noodles, fried rice, green beans, salad and mango soft serve for dessert. Everything was spot on. Local couple from another island. One an amateur chef, one a pro. My stomach wasn't feeling great after days of heavy eating including oysters, so had to be careful. Discovered Piko at the last minute and it was within walking distance too. It's a pupu bar right on Kuhio, just a 5-minute walk and on the ground floor of the Waikiki Market building. We chose to sit inside and were dress for the cold evening and air conditioner. We rattled off a lot of dishes, and forgot to ask the server to repeat them. Two dishes were missed, the garlic noodles and the chicken wings. Long rice gyoza = 10. The ginger flavor stood out and served with a little broth. Chicken satay = 10. The 3 skewers were cooked to tender perfection. Peanut sauce was great and ample enough. Bao buns = 9. Just enough fat on the meat. Served traditionally with pickled cucumbers. Green beans = 10. Pan fried to blistered (but al dente for the crunch), as advertised. Just enough of the sauce left from the pan. The beans didn't seem to have salt but the sauce did. Poke = 9. Served with avocado, cucumber, and onions in peanut oil. Mai Tai = 10. The boss (significant other) said it was a 10. Generous tall glass. It means belly button in Hawaiian so it's located right in the center of all the stores. We went for happy hour where they have the feature of $5 baos, burgers, and beer. Their baos were our favorite! 2 big pork belly hoisin sauce baos with the super soft fluffy buns! The kalbi burger came with Korean kimchi and pickles which was a fun touch. The burger was a good size too for $5, bigger than a slider but not as big as a regular burger. The draft beers are all local beers so take your pick from light to dark! Happy hour is from 2-6pm so check it out! I also got the yuzu collins which is a refreshing yuzu citrus and gin drink - loved it but the alcohol sneaks up on you! After spending 2 weeks in Honolulu Waikiki area, we tried pretty much about everywhere. We tried drinks, pupus and dinners at Dukes, the Moana hotel Beach Bar, the Tiki bar, and a host of other spots. We found we really enjoyed Piko, and they definitely have better cocktails. They were excellent they were the perfect mixture of savory, and spicy. I think the chili pepper water really really gave the drink the perfect kick so much so we purchased some chili pepper water to bring home. The North shore garlic fries were fried perfectly they weren't too hard. They weren't too soft. This restaurant is located on the first floor of Lilia on Kuhio Ave. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the store overlooks the sidewalk, so you'll see a lot of foot traffic especially as there's a bus stop out front. I had a fabulous breakfast today at Piko Kitchen in Waikiki. I sat at the open air bar surrounded by upscale local decor. I received aloha smiles from the staff and was seated quickly. The menu offers local Hawaiian style breakfasts and features locally produced ingredients. The bartender recommend the "3-Egg Mahi-ia Omelet" with local eggs and mushrooms. I was all in. The plate came out quickly and the portion was large, easily sharable. The Boursin cheese was so creamy and the mushrooms and spinach were delicious. A generous side of hash browns was included. Lots of garlic, which is a big win with me! Loved how it also had a spicy kick to it. Definitely coming back just for this! Also had their Bao Buns and Kalbi Burger, which were only $5 each on today's Happy Hour menu. Score on the price! Flavors were nice, but not as interesting or novel as the noodles. Quality of food and presentation were top notch in all the dishes. The Kuawa Kooler drink had a nice bittersweet flavor, but definitely could have used more vodka. I sat at the bar, and the waitress was attentive and friendly. As I've mentioned before, this is not common practice today. I'm a simple cheeseburger person so I was worried about the Kimchi slaw but it was so mild and still had tons of spices. The patty was well-seasoned and cooked to my liking. We were eyeing their daily 2-6pm happy hour special so we came in on a Friday 3pm. Didn't have beer but we did order the burger and Bao special. Both were good but we rated the burger over the Bao. We ordered the burger in medium rare and it was cool perfectly in light pink. The Bao had a pork belly which had some great sauce and the pork belly was fatty. Service was great as we mentioned to our server that we've been trying out different burgers. I chose a $5 draft beer and the vegetarian tomato-cuke poke, $6. It was a nice-sized serving, but there was too much sauce for my liking making the dish overly salty. On a weekend afternoon, I decided to explore some new spots in Waikiki and had a bit of time before one opened. Walking by Piko, I saw their sign for daily happy hour and stopped for a drink. This is part of the new grocery store on Kuhio, with the bar and restaurant portion on street level. They have a number of seating options with bar seats, a few tables, and another bar area that overlooks the pedestrian traffic out front. They have a number of food options but I didn't try any on this visit. Their beer list is small, but it's heavily local which I appreciate. As of this writing they had selections from Hana Koa Brewing and Beer Lab Hawaii; I went with a BL Omakase IPA which was $1 off at that time. Glassware was clean and chilled. Service was excellent, which quick service and attention. This is a fun little spot to stop for pupu or drinks while walking around Waikiki. read more

There was a chef that created the brunch orders but just stood there and seemed not to care in creating the dessert. Drove down Kūhiō Ave and the sidewalk sign: "BEER, BAO, & BURGERS $5 EACH" caught our eye. We had the option of sitting at the outside bar, outside table or inside. It was warm out so hubby and I opted to sit inside and the cool a/c was perfect. We stopped by during the happy hour time to enjoy drinks and the food caught our eye. Pork belly in the bao was cooked perfectly in my opinion. It was thick, flavorful, and juicy! The Kalbi burger seemed so simple but well executed.
