Ordered UberEats and my order arrived in less than an hour! Menu had a good variety of sandwiches, cakes, and drinks. Pricing was pricey. Most of the cakes cost $9+ and the sandwiches were $10+! Got the Egg Heaven Sandwich ($13) and it was pretty much an egg salad sandwich. The bread didn't taste fresh and was quite dry. I was expecting the bread to be soft and fluffy but that wasn't the texture at all. The egg salad was quite heavy on mayonnaise and had too much pepper for my preference. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the sandwich unfortunately. The Sunny Side Up (Coconut Mango Mousse Cake) - $9.50 - was delicious! Love how it was nicely packaged in a cute tin! The mango mousse was so creamy and I could tell it was made with sweet mangos! The cake was so moist and fresh. The coconut cream on top made it even more delicious! Definitely recommend! The Tiramisu ($9.50) was so good! It was so creamy and every bite was nicely layered with mascarpone mousse/coffee jelly and topped with cocoa powder. It wasn't too sweet and the cream didn't feel too heavy. The cake was very fresh and soft! Overall, I didn't enjoy the sandwich but the cakes were incredible and definitely worth getting!
Cute little place in Pasadena! They do sell sandwiches and drinks but I was interested in the mini cakes so that's all I got. First off, it's $9!!! For a little cake!!! But part of me justifies that price because it comes in a nice metal tin. Have I found use for the tin yet? No. But it's a nice tin so I'm keeping it anyways. Pink Lover ($9)--Has raspberry jelly, lychee mousse, and rose mousse. When eating I didn't really know what the layers were besides the jelly, so had to search it up. I don't know if I'd be able to pinpoint lychee and rose but as a whole the flavor was really good!! The jelly was like... a slab of cold jelly very texturally different from mousse/chiffon but I guess it's made like that on purpose? The chiffon was soft, kind of dry if I'm being picky, but not noticeable enough to make me stop eating. Overall I liked it! The flavor was really good! It's light and not too sweet. I'll be back if I'm in the area! Curious about their other flavors!!
Came here after checking out Descanso Gardens and was worried they'd sell out so I placed an online order. Picking up was smooth and easy but parking was awful. We had to circle the area a few times to find street parking. It would be nice if they had a designated parking lot in addition to street parking because some of the businesses around there had that. There was seating inside despite the store being pretty small, so my bf and I just ate inside. The cakes were pretty good! I got the Matcha Yuzu and he got the Kinako Chestnut. I couldn't really taste the yuzu until I tried only the first layer of cream. The matcha overpowers the yuzu a lot because there was two layers of matcha cream and one layer of matcha cake. Still really good and can taste that the matcha is high quality! As for the kinako chestnut, we couldn't taste the chestnut much but there were some chestnut pieces hidden in the cake! I would love to try the peach one as well but this place is quite far. Hopefully I'm in the area when they have the peach seasonal again.
We have been dreaming about the egg sandwiches ever since we came back to the states. We had the egg sando almost everyday while on our trip to Tokyo, so when I came across Pillow Talk, I had to try it obvi! Located on Lake Ave, across from Erewhon, parking can be difficult like people have mentioned. I ordered ahead and picked up. The " Egg Heaven" Sandwich ($11) was good... filling was nice, but the bread was not great. I also tried some of the Chiffon cakes. The ube one was the best one we tried, but all were very nice and not too sweet. Service was good.
Cute little local spot. I've heard good things about the tin cakes. There's some seats and it's pretty quiet it would be great to study/work. Pink lover and strawberry shortcake were light and had a well balanced cream/cake ratio. This cake will not weigh you down instead you'll want to keep eating more. We also really enjoyed our drinks as well. The matcha is very high quality and with the ube foam it was fantastic. My friend also loved her coffee drink and said it was pretty strong!
Came here for the first time and I'd definitely make the drive to come again. The barista was so nice and helpful. I got the spanish latte and it was so delicous! There's plenty of seating and they don't charge for milk alternatives. It's so cute and clean with lots of cute plants! Would love to study here
My second time at pillow talk and I was a bit disappointed by their mango matcha and the strawberry shortcake. The strawberry shortcake was very dry even paired with the cream but the taste was good. A very strawberry syrup taste. But for 9 dollars it's expensive for how small it is. It's definitely more for the looks than the taste. They originally forgot our drink but I can't blame them because it seemed like only one person was working and making everything. We got the mango matcha which barely had any mango flavor. The matcha part was good though. Overall still a great place to chat, study, or work since it's not super busy and has outlets! I loved the natural lighting in the cafe too!
Pillow Talk is a cute little cafe for Japanese themed snacks, matcha, and coffee. The beans here are lightly sweet, nutty, and just subtly bold. Finding parking isn't the hardest on the street, but it is limited to 1 hour (but thankfully only $1) The items here are fairly well priced and not overly expensive, and the atmosphere is cute, warm, and earthy. Need a drink with a milk substitute? There's thankfully no extra charge for those. Overall, it's an amazing place to work. The only area of improvement would be Wi-Fi - these speeds are abysmally slow, too slow to even browse the web. Other than that, everything about this cafe provided a relaxing atmosphere, a good step away from the busy streets of Pasadena. Best time to visit? Around noon, sit by the window, and there's just just the right amount of sunlight to brighten your day!
It was such a joy finding this place! The decor is very inviting, it's an intimate space where you can easily see yourself doing schoolwork or catching up with a friend. The main reason for my visit was to feed my Egg sando addiction so I ordered an Egg Heaven. It was definitely tasty, it seemed to be on regular white bread not milk bread but they toasted it which gave it a nice texture. The egg yolk in the egg halves were not as gooey as I would like but really the flavor was just amazing so I didn't mind! The matcha was one of the best I've ever had! They were very heavy handed with the matcha powder and it tastes like a very good quality matcha. On a whim I also grabbed a black sesame cake because it sounded amazing. It wasn't life changing but it was enjoyable for sure, good black sesame flavor and it wasn't overly sweet which I very much appreciated. The lady helping me was also incredibly sweet and welcoming which just adds to the inviting atmosphere of the place. Highly recommend checking them out!
First off, just know that the parking situation is typical of this end of Lake Avenue-- it sucks. There's no lot and there's only metered street parking. The shop is cute in that clean, well-kept, minimalist Asian sort of way. We were there for egg sandwiches. We got both their standard egg salad sandwich and a tamagoyaki sandwich We liked everything we had. The tamago-yaki is the dashi-flavored type. It was neither overly, nor cloyingly sweet. Their egg salad was fresh and nicely seasoned. (my wife actually makes my favorite egg salad, TBH -- her secret is Colman's mustard powder haha) There is one weird non-complaint critique from the both of us-- There was too much good stuff between the bread. I know it sounds weird, but we thought the egg to bread ration was off, as the bread they use was also very good! Other than the sucky parking and the over-generosity in the fillings department, the place is awesome. The workers there are also super nice and helpful. The beverages we ordered were both really good, especially my espresso yuzu tonic-like concoction. All and all a great place to enjoy Asian inspired egg-wiches and fizzy beverages if you can find a parking spot.
You absolutely can not go wrong with this place, after a day at the horse races in Santa Anita, I ended up coming here which is less than a 10 minute drive and had a couple sandwiches. From the outside it does look small so make sure you keep your eyes peeled or else you might miss it but it is worth going. I attached pics of my order, my personal favorite was the Musubi sandwich
What drew me to this cafe is the Japanese-inspired sandos and chiffon cakes. This cafe also has a really nice aesthetic and warm ambience. They offer a wide selection of both sweet and savory bites. My husband and I shared the Egg Heaven sando, which contains egg salad and soft boiled egg topped with a sprinkle of chives and pepper. The bread used for the sando is the typical Japanese milk bread - soft and pillowy. It complements the fluffy egg salad very well. We really enjoyed this egg sando. It was delicious. There are so many flavors of chiffon cakes that it took us a while to decide which one to get. We ultimately decided on the Matchamisu, which is a matcha chiffon cake filled with raspberry jelly and matcha mascarpone cream, dusted off with ceremonial grade matcha powder and raspberries. We loved how light and airy this was. It only tasted moderately sweet and not super sugary, which is another big plus for us. Whether you are looking to grab a meal, a snack, a dessert, or a drink, this place has it all. The mix of handcrafted sandwiches and desserts in a versatile and modern setting is what makes this place so great. You can easily grab something to go, or even sit inside to enjoy a delectable treat.
Cake in a tin is really unique and delicious, but spending this kind of money regularly will break my bank. $9 each We tried tiramisu and black sesame, they're really good. Not too sweet, smooth mouse. Flavor options are unique, premium, and on trend. I would try other flavors. Got the tamagoyaki sandwich. The egg is so smooth and just disappears in the mouth. Yummy. $11 Got the yuzu refresher. It's alright. $6 I parked in the street, kind of in front of the store. Came by Saturday afternoon and nobody inside. Place is aesthetic.

Came here on a Saturday and it was quite busy. There was only one person working and though she was able to provide a quick service with a positive attitude, I feel bad since she was doing it alone. Anyways, I ordered the Okonomiyaki Sandwich because it was the most unique one in my opinion. All the sandwiches reminded me of Japan since the quality looks superb, so you honestly can't go wrong with any of the choices. Anyways, I really liked the toasted bread, but it got soggy really quick because of all the sauces. The eggs were fluffy and cooked to perfection. The bacon added a nice touch to the flavor. The cabbage was cut into shreds, and it was evenly mixed with the dressing. Overall, I really enjoyed this sandwich. It was a bit on the higher ends but the quality of it was worth the try. Update: What a shame on you calling me a lier saying that I didn't order cake today. You are trying to frame me as a lier? Does that make you the righteous one?No! I might forget about it and didn't order cake today but I ordered three cakes yesterday and two cakes the day before. Go check it out in your system. It doesn't changed the fact that I supported the business for spending more than 100 dollars in a week. That's the truth. Stop twisting it and framing me as a lier. That doesn't change the fact that you showed a very bad attitude. Also I rarely leave bad reviews and last time I left a bad review was more than 5 years ago. It's so funny that now you try to frame me as someone that always bad review. So pathetic. You are the one that's trying to twist everything and blame it on me. You should really reflect on yourself instead of just blaming everything on a customer that spent more than 100 dollars in your cafe in one week! If you see my daughter stain your table just tell me that and I will say sorry for doing anything wrong. But you didn't even mention that. However, showing an attitude the minute we came in and yelling at a customer is not a good business conduct. My daughter didn't do anything wrong today or break anything but your attitude was really rude. The truth is the truth. Framing me as a lier or anything doesn't make any of your behaviors better. As a business owner, respecting a customer is basic. I guess you will never learn and I'm not going to waste my precious time on you. It's simply not worth it. And the owner yelled at me loudly saying " if your daughter falls l, we are not responsible for it and don't blame us on it!" I don't really get where that attitude is coming from since we sitting quietly in a corner and didn't do anything! This is not what you should say to your customer! We supported their business multiple times but we will never come here again. If you simply don't like kids or don't welcome kids, you should just put a sign on your front door saying kids not allowed! One life advice for the owner, If you don't welcome your customer and don't value every one of your customer, your business won't go too far. read more

Decent Japanese style sandwiches. I will say the service is nice and they try to Give you good flavors. Chill vibe, almost like a coffee shop, but not quite the vibe of lounging. Better for quick bites and an Asian Island taste. Not the perfect sandwich, but I'd go back. The guac mango sandwich my friend described as interesting. And the spam sandwich was extra saucy. Almost too much. I will definitely go back. Their coffee and drinks are serviceable, but I'd love more of a coffee shop options. read more
Cute, quaint shop selling Japanese egg sandos, pillowy cake desserts and drinks! Came for a Yelp event and loved it so I decided to bring hubby to see the store in person. Their cold brew was nice, good aroma & I'm not a coffee person so I liked that it was smooth and not bitter. I tried their Ube Latte w/ almond milk (unsweetened) and it was so good! I might try their other ube drinks/desserts next time.... Also tried their Matchamisu (matcha + tiramisu) and I loved it!! Not too sweet, cakes are pillowy soft and airy. I liked it over the Black Sesame I tried before. Parking can be found on the street ($1/hr, not metered on Sundays), or you can park at the other free lots nearby on Lake (i.e. by Macy's/Erewhon) or the free 90 minute parking lots behind Walgreens or Granville. read more

This is Pasadena's best kept secret. Adorable cakes in a tin that are perfect for picnics or to take home. Literally couldn't decide which one was my favorite--the mango one that looks like a sunny side up egg, but I think the matcha yuzu with the fluffiest chiffon cake definitely won. Besides sweets, they also have Japanese-style sandos. The staff recommended the one with pork floss--if you don't know what pork floss is, give it a try, I guarantee it goes so well with the egg sando! Thanks for reading! ^-^ read more

I used to enjoy their cakes which come in silver tin jars. I've also tried their egg sandwiches like the egg-salad style one and the mango avocado one. However I think their quality for the cakes has gone down..Not sure why but I received a frozen mango mousse cake for the Sunny Side up?? I ordered the mango-flavored Sunny side up via Uber eat but don't know why it was frozen.. It wasn't the soft chiffon cake but hard to eat. I paid a good $18 to get this cake with coffee. No one expects to eat a frozen hard cake from this cafe. Their employees should have checked to see it was frozen or not. Next time I'll probably just get my sweets from Motto Cafe since they have higher quality dessert and cakes in my opinion. read more

I was in the area after a workout class with a friend and we were craving some sandwiches so we decided to drop by this place. They sell a wide variety of sandwiches and cakes. My friend and I got the egg heaven and okonomiyaki sandwich to share. The fillings in both sandwiches were really good and tasted exactly like how you imagine them to. They really reminded me of the kind of sandwiches you get in Japan except the bread is not quite as soft. Our sandwiches took around 10 min to come out so it was pretty fast considering they're made to order. We didn't get a chance to try the cakes but they all looked really good so we'll probably have to come by again to try them out! read more
Pillow Talk was a spot that I came across when searching for specifically egg sando. The store is located on the busy street of Lake Ave. However, I went around 11:30 am and was able to find a spot on the street that was free for 1 hour. After browsing the menu, I ordered the Mentaikoyaki and a strawberry fruit sando. My order was ready in 5 minutes. When it came to the Mentaikoyaki, it fluffy and had good flavor. It wasn't amazing, but decent. For the strawberry sando, this was where my experience fell short. The sando wasn't sweet and it lacked flavor. The bread used for the sando didn't hold the filling together, as it kept falling apart with every bite. I ended up not finishing that sando. My overall recommendation would be to stick to the fresh sandwiches. I'd still come back to try the other variations of egg sandwiches. read more

Food: had a chance to try out this place when my boyfriend and I were looking for a light lunch place before heading over to huntington library/garden. We ended up deciding on metaikoyaki sandwich that we shared together. The egg was hot and fluffy, with a bit of savory salty taste of cod roe, it was what we had wanted and needed before a whole day of walking. I just wish it had a little more sauce and maybe more thick soft milky bread enveloping the ingredients. I really wanted to try their dessert, but don't think I had enough stomach space for more food. Price: each sandwich ranged $9-13, which I think are slightly on the pricier side. Similar street sandwiches usually are supposed to cost less, but they're sold on the streets not in a restaurant like this Ambiance: cute little shop with clean white interior, about 5 ish tables inside, best for casual hangout/date with a partner or friend Service: the server was nice and took our order at the cashier without any issues, you pick up your food from the counter when it's ready, make sure to clean up after yourself as well. Japanese egg sando and chill vibes. Pillow Talk is a great stop for a light lunch, snack, or afternoon dessert. And the staff are also friendly. The sandwiches are light but flavorful. I ordered the tamagoyaki, hoping for a light lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful egg sandwich. The musubiyaki was also delicious if you need something a little more substantial. In contrast, the matcha was nice and strong. The iced matcha with mango was well balanced with a sweet mango flavor that really came through the matcha. Meanwhile, the lavender and honey matcha was a little too subtle for my tastes, but I could still taste the matcha and honey. Overall, I'd order both drinks again. Meanwhile, the cakes are light and flavorful. The tiramisu was surprisingly one of the better tiramisu cakes I've had. Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts and I make a point of trying it everywhere I go. Their addition of a coffee jelly layer added moisture without soaking the cake layers with cream. Likewise, the matcha cake has a raspberry jelly layer that adds moisture without soaking the cake layers. And like their matcha drinks, it has a pleasantly strong matcha flavor. The staff are so sweet. I believe them to be the owner operators. They made me feel right at home. Bless their hearts. I would come back just for the service. But seriously the food items are delicious. Not only are they original and elegante treats. They are delicious. It's a small dinning room with limited seating but very clean. You get a nice with a nice view of the street. I would call this place a gourmet boutique made and served with love. Stop by and get your love. I will definitely be back. read more

Pillowtalk is a cafe located in Pasadena. They have street parking available, a restroom available, and minimal indoor seating with outlets. The inside is cute and homey. They have drinks, cakes, pastries, and egg sandwiches. The staff were really nice and inviting. Drinks and Desserts We ordered the dirty sesame latte for $5.95, the iced tiramisu latte for $5.95, the sparkling yuzu and strawberry for $5.45 each, the strawberry cake for $8, the taro ube cake for $8, the matcha tiramisu cake for $9, the okonomiyaki sandwich for $13, the mentaikoyaki sandwich for $13, and the egg heaven sandwich for $11. We really liked how there was a wide variety of options to choose from. The drinks weren't our favorite; they kind of just tasted like watered down coffee and nothing else. The sparkling drinks had very little flavor as well. The cakes were our favorite; a little expensive but they were moist and had great flavor. They also weren't too sweet which we loved. I've been wanting to try these Japanese egg sandwiches for a while. Whenever I see people eating them on YouTube or Instagram, they look so good. And maybe I was expecting too much, but these were just okay, at least for the price. The Musubiyaki, which was probably the best of the 3 we got. We also got the Tamagoyaki for my son, but we also ate it, which was also decent. However, I would say the worst one was the Egg Heaven sandwich which was pretty much just a regular egg sandwich you might make at home but a bit saltier. We also got a couple of desserts, including the Taro Ube and Sunny Side Up. I was told the Sunny Side Up was their most popular dessert and was definitely the better between the two. Overall, it wasn't a bad sandwich, but I definitely don't need to come here again. And as I noted, I might have been expecting too much, but it just wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. read more

I wanted to try something new and a place I've never tried before. So I walked inside of here and I can say I am very happy that I did. The greetings were great and I ordered the tiramisu and a sparkling yuzu tea and the lady behind the counter guided me in the right direction with my decisions and again I am very happy. Everything tasted amazing and the drink is delicious. I love everything about this place. This place is so clean and well kept. We stopped by here for a quick bite and it was the perfect afternoon snack. + Dirty sesame latte: The drink was pretty good but not very memorable. It had the right amount of sweetness and cream, but the black sesame taste was faint. + Egg sandwiches: We tried the mentaikoyaki and tamago pork floss, but our favorite was the mentaikoyaki. I loved how fluffy the eggs were, just the way I like them. The portion size is generous, the bread is soft, and it came out hot and fresh. + Matchamisu: The cakes are all so cute, and they come in a tin can that you can reuse. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of this one. The matcha flavor was very subtle, and the cake part was somewhat dry. The shop is very clean with minimal decor. Nice quiet spot with cute snacks! So many different desserts that you can try (there's a mango cake/jelly dessert that looks like a sunnyside up egg ) - plus the little cakes come in a mini metal tin that you can keep. We ordered: - iced honeycomb latte: typical iced latte with honeycomb bits on top, either can each the crunchy bits on their own or wait for it to melt into the drink. Definitely needed a caffeine fix but it wasn't outstanding - matchamisu: good amount of matcha and layers of texture was interesting - cake was a little dry but considering how its $9-$9.50 probably best to split with a friend - white chocolate muffin top: shaped like a cookie but tastes like a muffin, it was nice of them to heat it up for us but I found it a bit sweet read more

Very cute & simple design. Now the food, I ordered the Okonomiyaki sandwich. Reasonable price of $13. Best decision ever. I feel like people hear egg sandwich and its always hit or miss. This is a cute dessert shop in Pasadena and a overall nice spot to co-work at, I hung out with my co-worker! They have various items like cookies, pastries, desserts, sandwiches, cakes, sweet drinks, and coffee. They have good wifi but, unfortunately, no bathroom to use! All of their sandwiches look amazing, especially their Okonomiyaki sandwich, but I got their Mentaikoyaki, which comes with salty pollock roe, egg, cheese, dashi, mustard, and mayo. A quaint yet delightful cafe in the heart of S Lake Ave (narrowly escaping the influence of the recent Eaton fires), my experience at this family-bred establishment was excellent to say the least. The cafe is quiet and allows one to fully enjoy their individual experience in comfort. The Honey-comb latte was the perfect sweetness level, which is hard for me to say with my picky, non-sugary minded Asian palette! The Ube and raspberry cakes in a cute tin can were flavorful and just the perfect size for individual consumption. The egg sandwich had a nice fluffy texture in both the bread and toppings. I've had this spot saved on my Yelp bookmark forever because who can resist those pretty cakes in tin cans?! Finally went after a birthday lunch & it was just okay. The shop is small, but clean and cute. Had no issues with the service. I got the yuzu matcha, grape earl grey, chocolate crunch, and taro tin cakes plus the dirty sesame latte. The flavor profiles were interesting. It was super creative, but none of them blew my mind. All the cakes were gorgeous in color despite minor imperfections but I think the problem is that I got overhyped by how gram-able they are. Perhaps it's because they're premade so ahead of time that it's lost flavor or freshness. The latte was needed after the long walk here, but not that memorable either. There's a roasted black sesame milk tea in a shop in Arcadia that can't be beat. So overall taste was average for me, but there's a chance I'll give it a second chance one day since the creme brulee flavor I really wanted to try was out of stock. read more

Whats another way to cool down while walking down lake? I came in for a matcha latte but saw the Matcha Affogato and Im sold! Pillow Talk Cafe is located on Main Street of Lake Avenue with convenient street parking. It's my go-to spot for egg sandwiches and desserts! The Mentaiyaki Egg Sandwich is my favorite, egg is cooked perfectly, it's best to eat it fresh and piping hot as it doesn't quite taste the same when you takeout. The desserts are equally impressive, with the Pink Lover Lychee dessert being my favorite with its light and refreshing flavors. The Strawberry and Oreo Lollipop Cake is also a fun, easy-to-eat treat, while options like Salted Oreo and Matcha Yuzu offer bold, creative flavors. The sandwiches and desserts keeps me craving to eat it again. Definitely will be back soon! read more
