Well this quiet and quaint place has hit the core of my heart These tacos were delicious along with the beans and rice..... I will say if you don't like your chips crispy you like I do then you should the tacos by themselves!!! Aside that it was great visit the gentleman assisting us was very nice and guided us through our order experience as it was our first time! I'll be back until then thank you so much

Pinches was a great and unexpected find. The food was delicious and the employees were amazing. When we went up to order at the counter the guy working gave us some incredible recommendations with the gringo tacos and the potato tacos. He was super friendly and accommodating. The tacos themselves were delicious, while not necessarily the prettiest, the taste was so good. They made their own crunchy shells and stuffed them with tender meat with a delicious sauce and topped them with veggies. The place had a small, casual, and food focused feel. You order at a counter and then sit down at these picnic tables off to the side where your food is delivered. This is a place where you can have a quick meal or stay and talk for a long time. I'm so happy I came here and can't wait to go back!

I placed an order on Uber Eats, and the food was thankfully still warm when it arrived. The packaging of the tacos could use some work. The chicken mole tacos were flavorful without being overly spicy, which I appreciated. The refried beans were extremely delicious, but the Spanish rice that I was so looking forward to was BLAND, BLAND, BLAND! To me, the price point sits above what the food is worth. For what's being charged, EVERYTHING should be good. I'd go in person to see if the experience is better, though. Some food just doesn't travel well.

Solid!! After eating several "meh" tacos over the past month or so (how does that even happen here in L.A.???), Boyfriend and I hit up Pinche's for lunch recently. It's a small casual place with a fun vibe and not too pricey, exactly what we were looking for. We each got a 3-taco combination plate - a fish, a shrimp and a chicken taco for me; and a carnitas, Al Pastor and chicken for him. All were tasty and authentic, served with chips, rice and refried beans. It was the perfect amount of food for us without being overwhelming. Que rica!! We will definitely put Pinches on repeat!!

    Chilaquiles

I was here (twice!) on my last trip to LA. My friends and I ordered at the counter and sat outside. I only ordered Chilaquiles (I couldn't try something else after trying them), but I think these might be the best Chilaquiles I've ever had (including Mexico City!). The chips were crunchy, but still soaked in the liquid. They use chopped up onion, cilantro and egg in the sauce as well. These had SO much flavor, the chips are perfectly crispy and everything was just perfect. My friend got huevos rancheros which came with 3 eggs on homemade tortillas (amazing) and was a great value for the portion. Each meal was $13-14, which I thought was extremely fair for the quality of ingredients and portion size. I'm surprised by the reviews saying this place is overpriced. It's definitely going to be a staple for me when I'm in LA!

We loved the old-school vibe immediately. We arrived around 4:45 and waited only 5-10 minutes. Then we saw the fresh tortillas being made and thought, "This could be good!" The atmosphere was relaxed, with full table service and great chips and salsa. We ordered a plate of fajitas to share and a shredded beef taco. Funny enough, I thought I was ordering a taco platter, but one lonely taco arrived on a bed of shredduce. Thankfully, it was excellent. A good shredded beef taco is surprisingly hard to find, and this was my favorite part of the meal. Overall, the food, service and atmosphere were all great. I'll definitely return. I found a parking spot behind the restaurant that felt a little sketchy, but it worked. I'll probably look for street parking next time. 4.5 stars

I'm from Mexico and when I first moved to the US what I first noticed was that tortillas fall apart here and are bad quality. But at madre you can tell that the tortillas like for the memelas are made in house and are excellent quality with good masa, not just like maizena. The servers are always great, my boyfriend and I love this place. This is where he had chilaquiles for the first time with tasajo and he will eat them elsewhere but nothing compares. The chilaquiles are awesome, better even than many places in Mexico. Good quality ingredients and stuff that you don't find everywhere- huitlacoche, chapulines, etc. When I brought my mom and dad my dad was eating and paused and told me he had forgotten he was in the US for a second and that it felt like home. Love this place a lot and couldn't recommend it more highly. I was reading the reviews from others and it seems clear that this place resonates with people who appreciate the diverse and multi layered tastes of Mexico and who know about the nuances of the cuisine beyond tacos and margaritas. If you want cheap tacos and a margarita this is probably not the vibe. I don't know why people come to a restaurant that has unique and specialized Oaxacan cuisine like the amazing mole and great salsas and hard to find ingredients like huitlacoche and chapulines only to buy like an asada taco and a margarita... lol

When we brought this up, we again felt that our concerns were not taken seriously. To make matters worse, our receipt was given as one combined bill without clearly itemizing the individual charges. We realized afterward that we may have been overcharged. I have called the restaurant multiple times over the past four days trying to get clarification, but no one has gotten back to me. The food itself was not the main issue--the customer service and lack of accountability were. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves both the organization of the service and the way customer concerns are handled.
