Came here today for a guys weekend trip. I was between a regular steak and the crab stuffed flounder. The waitress said this was this top selling seafood dish, so I went with it bc it was also different. I made a horrific mistake. The flounder was super dry, overcooked and had no flavor. The crab inside was also dry and had zero flavor. The only thing giving it any sort of flavor was the sauce on top. The only thing giving this place a star was how nice the waitress was. Found this place on a weekend stay in the Mchenry area. There's two "areas" of this restaurant, the upper level is more dressy and the bottom is the bar and more casual, I went with the latter since I was in a bit of rush and not in need of formalities. Lodge style bar with TV's and open tables. Service was quick and helpful with the menu. Prices were a bit on the high side being a "resort" town so I went with the crab soup and a burger to keep it quick and on budget. The crab soup was amazing. Crab heavy and creamy without being a gut bomb. Ask for more crackers to thicken it up if you want more of a stew texture. I was a worried when I saw the burger come out with a pre-formed looking patty but it did not disappoint. Standard set up with lettuce, tomato and onion but big on flavor and juicy burger with some big fries. read more

We loved the decor and "lodge" feeling of the wood beams. Our cocktails, bread and Caesar salads were good. We ordered the filet and the prime rib and were very disappointed in both. Both were very tough, considering the cuts, and lacked flavor. The loaded baked potatoes also lacked flavor. We did get apple crumble for dessert and it was quite tasty. I'm not sure we will visit again. We've had much better steaks, more reasonably priced, at many other places. Service is slow. Service is terrible. Imagine raising two hellions - age 6 and age 2. Your husband FINALLY plans a weekend away to deep creek. We've been looking forward to this incredible steak dinner for TWO MONTHS. And sadly, we order our drinks and finally after 30 minutes, we finally get them. But get this - we only get 3 out of 4 drinks we ordered. Just a disaster. Long story short, if you have any expectations of having a nice dinner with pristine service (because you're paying top dollar), they will fall short of your expectations. Onion soup wayyy to salty Caesar salad had a dressing that was just bad. Weird sweetness to it that it shouldn't have had. Bacon cheese burger. Meat was too lean. Very little taste and too firm. We stopped here during on cabin week at deep creek and had a lovely meal! The service was very nice. I was a little bummed that two of the bottles of wine I had selected were only available for glass pours as "the bottles were already opened" which indicated they didn't have a large supply. However the wine we decided on was good! I got a bone-in ribeye special oscar style, french onion soup, and a Ceasar salad with sweet potato casserole. I had tried some of their crab cakes as well, they were pretty good. The steak was good, seasoned well. The french onion soup was also tasty, about what you would expect. The ceasar salad had a LOT of dressing and it tasted like some bottled brand. Not my favorite. Overall we had a pleasant evening though and I would probably go back again. read more

Went to dinner with my aunt and uncle, and unfortunately my uncle left his credit card and we needed to head back to Gaithersburg the next day. But we went to the visitors center and left our name and number. Lady working there and I sent a Facebook message and someone working for Pinelodge saw the message, went to the restaurant and dropped off my uncles card for us at the visitors center. They didn't have to do that but the fact that they went above and beyond says a lot about the owners and staff working there. We will def come back again and can't thanks you guys enough. read more

I am a pine lodge regular. I have been a lodger for decades. If I must say, the service has declined over the past year or two. The staff is not as friendly and accommodating as they used to be, except for the oldies. The busboys are lowkey weird af. Today, I went there, and they didn't bring bread to the table (What?!!). The tequila selection is also lacking. The rest of the food was still great though, and the managers are always very friendly. However, I've noticed that the pine lodge has begun to attract a strange-looking crowd. We had some odd neighbors! Lol. Despite this, I do recommend the pine lodge for dining. read more

My family of eight went there last night for a birthday dinner. The service, especially the waitress was friendly and helpful. She brought our beverages almost immediately and accurately. She forgot that we ordered an extra bottle of wine and did not bring it, which is on her as there is a 20% tip on groups over six. The food, especially the prime rib, was horrible. It was overcooked and very fatty; I ordered the medium cut, which I believe is 16 ounces, and I got a very thin piece of meat that was overcooked. Management took 10% off of it. I got the benefit of three dollars off of a $38 entrée; they advertised that they have fresh lump crab meat crabcakes made with jumbo crab meat without filler. I don't believe it was jumbo crab meat and highly seasoned. The space is very nice. I wish the food would be up to par and a value proposition. When you think about steak houses, you think about experiences with national chains like Ruth Chris and Mortons. This was more like Applebee's or maybe the Texas Roadhouse, but they charge national chain prices. I know this is a recreation area, and many families are looking for that type of experience. The Caesar salad is usually crisp and delicious, this time it was lifeless and swimming in dressing. It literally was dripping off the romaine when you picked it up. The food here was terrible!!!! For a "Steakhouse" the food was nowhere near that standard. And for the prices as well , we were expecting much better food. For starters I ordered their fish, with the crab inside it. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye with the loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli. I had the same sides as well. My fish was translucent like it wasn't cooked, the food was cold although they just brought it out. The loaded mashed potatoes, were instant out of the box. And the crab stuffed inside my uncooked fished seemed to be uncooked as well, because it was cold like it had just come out of the refrigerator. I couldn't even eat my food. The waiters were nice though, and tried to replace my food with something else. But after tasting my boyfriend's "ribeye" which was cold and tats red like cheap beef, instead of a ribeye from a steak house. My wife and I came for the steaks, and a place that was open past 9 PM, since we had a late start for dinner. The bar was slow with only a few other patrons. The food was excellent. We sat at the bar, where I had the cowboy ribeye, my wife, the barrel oak steak. We had a few cocktails, and appetizers of crab stuffed mushrooms and a cup of cream of crab soup. The pros: The food was delicious. Great steaks, well seasoned, and flavorful. The appetizers were both excellent, leaving nothing else to be desired. The cons: the service mostly, in addition to my wife complaining that her asparagus was poorly trimmed and woody. The bartender, Brian, was great once he finally came to check on us. Until that point, he saw us, but ignored us completely -- no greeting or acknowledgment, continuing to do what he was already doing. Later on, the manager pulled Brian to speak with him, but neither the manager or Brian made a point of checking in with customers before leaving to another room for a while. Finally, the hostess and another person working in the store spent their entire time loudly cursing and complaining about customers while my wife and I were visiting the gift shop. Slow terrible service. Over cooked steaks at a high end high priced steak house . Slow to refill drinks, the manager had to come refill drinks multiple times. An hour dinner was 2 hours long because of the service. Veggies were very bland and under cooked . Way high over priced for the food quality. Pine Lodge Steakhouse was disgraceful for us. We took our buddy to eat there for his bachelor party, so six of us total, and we were put outside and off to the side like the ugly duckling. The first server that came was Allie and she was great for doing what she was supposed to do in getting us our first drinks then taking our order. After we got our first drinks and put our order in.... it was at least a hour before we saw anyone again this time bringing our food. Great food, but never got the apps that we ordered. They ask if our server came back out, someone other than allie and we said not does she even work here? They didn't take too kind of it but at the end of the day understood why we were frustrated and everything was okay. We then returned later that night around 11ish to grab a quick beer after wheelin the go karts up the hill, highly recommend it!, and this ole fella just went outside to lite is cancer stick and saw us coming so he threw his freshly lit life away puffer to the ground and ran in and told the bartender we are too big of a group and there is nowhere for us to sit. The bartender actually agreeed with the patron and pretty much threw us out. It was really disappointing for the ignorance of the staff and locals. My mom and I came here for dinner. The staff was all very friendly and the food was great. I had a filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. The asparagus and hollandaise was spectacular. My mom had the prime rib appetizer for her meal and it was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal in Deep Creek. The atmosphere was nice and everyone who worked there was friendly but the food was nothing special. My friend and I went for his birthday dinner and started with the calamari and cream of crab. The calamari was decent but the cream of crab had no flavor.... For dinner we both had the New York strip with a baked potato. 6/12/20 Three months to the day since we went out for dinner due to this damn virus. This was their first night with inside service since the lockdown. Our server was very nice and very pregnant with a girl. Nice to have some human interaction. Creamy crab soup is one of my favorites and theirs Wess very good. Onion rings were excellent. My strip steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly but had a lot of gristle - luck of the draw. My wife has filet mignon and crab cakes - all very good. This place was recommended to me as somewhere a vegetarian could put together an interesting meal of sides. Well, not so much. The sides did not look like anything special so I opted for the Pasta Alfredo, like the classic version of the dish plus some veggies. It was just OK. My side salad was also very ordinary (could have used a lot more green lettuce). I also tried the asparagus (even though I wasn't making a meal of the veg sides, I wanted to try one). Again, pretty average. My wife was very disappointed in her petite Filet Mignon. She ordered it well done and, per her, it was beaten into submission and cooked until it had no moisture in it (dry). When a woman (owner? manager?) came by to see how we were enjoying our dinners, my wife was honest about her disappointment. The woman explained that the menu said that all such well-done steaks are butterflied, as if that were a reason that it should not be of high quality. The menu (the online version, at least) says "ALL 9 oz MEDIUM WELL AND WELL FILETS WILL BE BUTTERFLIED" in italics. My wife's filet was a 5 oz. one. I was very skeptical about going to this place after reading all the bad reviews but It was the only place in Deep Creek that seemed to be a nice place to eat that wasn't cheap or a pizza place. So we made reservations which wasn't necessary because the place seemed open to any seat we wanted. They had a huge party of guys, I assume a bachelor party along with a family of 9 which we sat right next to. I wondered why the hostess would sit a couple next to too large parties when their were more seats available in a more private area. Luckily the two parties weren't too loud. We looked over the menu and waited nearly 15 minutes before the manager came to our table apologizing for the long wait. She offered us two free drinks which turned our night around greatly. We ordered some beers and our waitress exclusively waited on our table. We started with a free appetizer that I received for checking in. After deciding on the calamari it arrived quickly and was fresh and hot. The seafood taste wasn't as overpowering and chewy as some other places. It came with marinara and soy sauce. I preferred the marinara which was a great compliment. For our entrees I ordered the Pine lodge salad which is a basic house salad along with the creamy crab soup. The salad was nothing amazing, I chose blue dressing as my topping when I should have received the balsamic. The soup though was amazing with large lumps of crab meat which is exactly what I wanted. The soup was so creamy and tasty. It made my taste buds explode with delight. My hubby ordered the oak barrel steak and it was so perfectly marinated. I'm not much of a red meat eater but I loved the flavor of this steak. We ordered it medium and it was very juicy and tender, all the things a steak should be. The only down side is that the side dishes are al a carte so you end up paying extra for them. After our main course ended we opted for the dessert. I grabbed the peach cobbler and my hubby opted for the chocolate oreo cake. I don't like chocolate cake so he had that all to himself but my peach cobbler was absolutely amazing! Perfectly crisp crust, warm soft peaches and an amazing ooey-gooey texture. I will definitely be coming back here if we ever return to Deep Creek. Especially for the Steak and Cobbler. So my friends and I decided to try this restaurant after a day of snow boarding and skiing. We all decided to try different steaks so we ordered the cowboy , oak barrel , NY strip, and filet mignon. Every piece of steak had its own flavor or crisp to it. But each one melted in your mouth. Everything was so delicious we also had the crab dip and carne asada nachos and that was another 10/10. Drink were refilled as we went with out asking our waitress did an amazing job she was fast friendly and efficient. So did the chefs! The restaurant gives you a cabin lodge vibe. You walk in with a gift shop behind the host table where it has cute and funny t-shirts. To the right of the staircase they have more of a bar and hang out area. Once you go Upstairs it is very nice and spaced out. This place deserves to be placed on the map. We will definitely be returning. Wish I had pictures but we were too amazed over the food! read more

Great little restaurant located close to the lake. We have been going to the lake for years and never stopped by, we where really missing out on a great restaurant. I had the crab stuffed flounder topped with lobster bisque and it was great! I would highly suggest it. I went on a Friday evening with a large group of family members. The waitress was very cordial and perky, and really knowledgeable about the menu. I got the prime rib and mashed potatoes. It was ok. The steak was fine, but the mashed potatoes were served cold. As a group, we felt like the meal lasted about 30 minutes longer than it needed to, just because our waitress disappeared for 15 minutes at a time. It wasn't busy, so I'm not sure why that was.
