Just alright. Good for a quick meal on the way to the airport, but not worth driving over here for.

This was the perfect place to pick up food for our party of 10 on our way to the airport. We phoned in our order 30 minutes prior to arriving and mentioned we were getting on a flight and when we came to pick up the food, they had each of our orders packaged nicely. We had no problem getting through airport security with the wrapped food and were pleased to see that they got our large order totally right. Food was good and our fellow passengers seemed to be jealous that they didn't think of picking up food here themselves. Great service and they were also able to accommodate my gluten allergy! I got the hamburger patty without bun or sauce. My husband got the Korean mix plate which he really enjoyed. The kids had spam wasubi and hot dogs which were easy for them to eat on the plane. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite. I got the Korean chicken plate with side salad. The batter is pretty good and salad is very crisp and fresh. I think this was better than zippys Korean chicken. The only negative I had was that I'm so used to zippys chicken is that I was surprised with them giving me drumsticks and wings. But this is a yummy place to eat. read more

We went to Kona to work. We had no idea where to eat. Checked on line and Pine Tree Cafe was recommended. We finally got done and I saw the restaurant. The young lady that waited on us was really pleasant. It was a nice experience, the dining area was very clean. I had a teriyaki beef sandwich and fries which hit the spot. Simple but delicious, it was made fresh. I will recommend to my friends and family and I will definitely go back there when I'm in Kona. read more

This was our first stop in Kona, right from the airport. We ordered two small plates; teri chicken and korean chicken. They both were awesome. The came with Mac salad. I really liked it, but my wife thought it was a little weird that they mixed it with tuna. The Korean chicken wings were sweet and spicy, fried really well, not too much breading. Yes, really good plate lunches. They have a really good deep fried smoked chicken leg plate. I always have to get that whenever I go there even though the menu is so extensive. I really should try other items but ever since trying the chicken, I just can't order anything else! read more

we had the iniochi burger, fish sandwich, fish burger and teriyaki burger. iniochi burger was waaaaaaay heavy. fish sandwich was pretty bland. fish and teriyaki burgers were acceptable. the service was slooooooooooow and not especially friendly (or unfriendly). everything was edible, but definitely more of a plan b (or d) in terms of dining. read more

This place was recommended by our surfing instructor. Note to self, don't take recommendations from surfers! Fish and chips would have been good but were way over cooked and dry. Fish sandwich was a little better but not much, veggie burger had an odd taste. The grandkids had rice bowl type dishes and they seemed to like them okay. Nothing to rave about but good place to stop before a quick bite before the airport. HUGE portion sizes. My husband and I shared a Turkey Avocado Club with fries and a salad and had leftovers. Definitely recommend splitting a meal unless you have a big appetite. read more

We were on our way to the airport, and i didn't want to overpay for generic American food at the hotel, so we made a small detour to Pine Tree Cafe for breakfast before boarding the plane back home. The food was good, I got the french toast with butter coconut syrup with spam and one fried egg. Local food, at a reasonable price...hard to find on the Big Island. It is a good place to get some food, so glad we did because the security lines at the airport are crazy long! read more

Hawaiian beef I ordered was a disaster. Hard to bite through and tasteless. Despite being hungry I did give up on it after two slices. Korean chicken of my girlfriend was decent though very oily. One star is for the horrible beef. Beware! read more

Very disappointed in the Fish and Chips. Supposed to be ONO but I think it was Marlin which is far less expensive? Tough and not as tasty Also the preparation was poor, Not sliced nicely but just big irregular hunks. Would not recommend this place for this dish. read more

I had the spam musabi and fried chicken bento box. The quality of the spam musabi was OK. My wife had the shoyu chicken bento box with 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. Portions are generous. The restaurant is pretty busy and it can take a while to get your food. We would be back if we lived in the area. read more

The food here has been pretty great! We've come here everyday so far. I really like the Reuben Sandwich. It comes with fries and green or mac salad. The mac salad is pretty good and is mixed with peas and tuna. The green salad is a good size too. Yesterday we tried the crab (i thought it was lobster) bisque. The consistency reminded me of squid luau from Laverne's. It had a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese and a couple of croutons. The fiancé loved it and wanted more but it was a daily special and they didn't have it today. I love their fries... They're meatier than mcd's fries and aren't as salty. We tried the Korean mixed plate the first time we came here. It had Korean chicken, kalbi and some kind of spicy pork. It was pretty good. My fave was the kalbi. The hamburgers are pretty good too. The burgers are 8 oz. patties and the buns are huge so they're a pretty good size. You can get the deluxe for a little bit more. Overall, the food is great. Why else would we go four days in a row? lol read more

Came here before we left Kona for brunch. I ordered the breakfast special and my husband ordered the korean chicken lunch plate. The korean chicken wings were good and flavorful, there was like 8 pieces total. The breakfast was ok. Staff was really nice and friendly. This is a very casual/fast food type of cafe where you order your food at the cashier and wait for your name to be called. Wish we could have tried their other lunch/dinner plates. read more

This was one of our favorites on Big Island - we made it our airport meal for the flights to Kauai (layover in Honolulu). On our first visit, we ordered the loco moco and Korean chicken. We loved the loco moco, but didn't think that the Korean chicken was special. For our airport meal, we decided to go with the Katsu Dip - it was AMAZING. It was perfectly fried, well-seasoned with a slight sweetness, and had a good crust-to-meat ratio. I would order it again in a heartbeat! read more

I don't personally like this kind of food--basic local food, sandwiches, etc. However, that being said, it doesn't put on pretenses of being anything other than what it is. My husband likes the food so we go every once in awhile--it's clean, I've always found the service to be just fine, and the menu is large. The prices are great (especially by Hawaii standards). If you don't like find dining and are after basic food that isn't from some horrible fast food chain go here. A lot of locals eat here. read more

We had our first meal here when we landed, and our last meal here when we left. This is a great place to go for plate food, and it's right off the highway, so you can't get lost :) Prices are pretty decent (10-12$) and you can get a combo plate of two or three different items, which I hugely suggest if you want to try a lot of different things. It might take 7-10 minutes to get your food, so if you're in a hurry, try some place else. Otherwise, definitely stop by if you're on your way to Costco or Target. read more

Firstly, I am a huge fan of independently-owned restaurants, especially ones that are for the locals. Places you can eat daily. We love the grindz at Kay's Kitchen at Matsuyama's on 190, so we saw the new Matsuyama's on Queen K and decided to see if there was a Kay's inside. There wasn't but they owned the Pine Tree Cafe next door. We gave it a try that day, the next day and the next day. The Korean chicken is super crispy, delicious and, very important to me, not swimming in a sea of gravy like the Chinese food back in SF. The house dressing we tried with the tossed was very good too. You can get white, fried or brown rice. I also tried the short ribs but it was eh, just salt and peppah. Still good but I associate short ribs with Kalbi. Also tried the chili and it was definitely made from scratch, left over hamburger notwithstanding. Had to take a break because pot belly bigger than the local wild boar's right now. Saving it as a treat lunch now. Oh yeah. Very important point is that the place is super clean. It looks like it will pass Silliker audit for sure! read more

Went on a Saturday at around noon and they were quite busy. Just an FYI - Since this was our first time there, we were offered a discount on some of the menu items. We decided on the spicy garlic chicken, chicken dip, tonkatsu, and chicken katsu. The only item that really stood out was the spicy garlic chicken. The other items were just okay and really nothng to be excited about. I didn't care for the mac salad with tuna and would opt for the tossed salad the next time I go. Everyone at the counter was very courteous and patient with our questions and the tables were wiped down often so they were ready for incoming customers. The condiment bar was stocked with a variety of items such as worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, chili garlic sauce, shoyu, and vinegar. The complimentary water had slices of lemon in it which was very refreshing. It was a hot and humid day, so the air conditioning made this visit a pleasant one. read more
