For the first two bites, I was unsettled by the tartness of the original flavor. By the third bite, I was hooked. My first experience at Pinkberry came minutes after my first experience with Chipotle (a few doors away) however the end result of lunch yesterday was NOT my first experience with being underwhelmed. I'm not sure what it is, but there have been two fads sweeping the local scene these days. Chipotle, and Pinkberry. Well, that's the way it seemed to me. I had little desire to try Pinkberry. Not that I thought it would be bad. I just had an inkling that it wouldn't be great. Walking into Pinkberry felt like I was walking into the Korova milkbar (and yes kiddies, that is a Clockwork Orange reference). I was expecting bits from the glorious Ninth by Ludwig Van to be pumping through the speakers, but all I got was the cacophony of five or six teen girls huddled at the bar. Was this not lunchtime, Friday? Weren't these girls supposed to be in school? What the hell was going on? Anyway, I got my medium Pinkberry yogurt (plain, since this was my first time) and dove in. About ten minutes later I was done. So, what's the result? It was good. Creamy? Sure. Tastey? Yes. Mind blowing? Nope. Life changing? Hardly. Orgasmic? Not that I'm aware of. Really fucking good? Nyet. It was what it was. Frozen yogurt. Would I go back for some more Pinkberry? Let me put it this way: After I graduated high school, I spent many an hour at a certain frozen yogurt shop that some of my buddies worked at, waiting for them to close up so we could hang out. Sometimes I got some frozen yogurt, most times I did not. I sat in a frozen yogurt shop for an hour talking with my buddies and would not eat any of the yogurt (I'm sure the owners were ecstatic about that!). Heck, as much as I love coffee, I almost never walk into a coffee house and get something I truly enjoy! So there you go Pinkberry. You have some of my money. Enjoy it, because I doubt you'll be getting much more of it anytime soon. read more

I am a huge fan of Pinkberry in general, but this is by far the best Pinkberry I have ever been to. The staff at Pinkberry is always friendly, but the ones I encountered here were exceptional. They were so friendly and accommodating, and never made me feel uncomfortable about my indecisiveness. When I was eating my yogurt, I saw so many acts of kindness from the employees. One girl ran after a lady who had forgotten her purse, and then given an ice pack and a small scoop of yogurt to a little kid who had bumped his head on the wall and would not stop crying. My heart was pretty much melting as I ate my yogurt. By the way, the seasonal tangerine flavor was so bomb. That + pomegranate together were heavenly. read more

Second Pinkberry experience. This time I actually got to go in though, the first time was in Downtown LA and it was towards nighttime, and we couldn't find parking. So we parked in the loading zone, and my brother went in to get Pinkberry for us and come back out. This time though I got to come in and order for myself, they even gave us samples. I think back then, this was about 2 years go, I got original tart with strawberries, pomegranate, and I think I got mango. So delicious and refreshing. Their tart is very unique. Staff really needs to watch their language when customers are in the store. I first sampled the chocolate hazelnut and the Meyer lemon and was pleased with both distinct flavors. Last week I finally touched my tongue to Pinkberry, with all the nonchalant manner that I could muster in a vain attempt to preserve what little indie cred still dangled from my Los Angelized ragdoll self. I LOVE Pinkberry. This review isn't for Pinkberry as a whole, just this location. I frequent this place because the yogurt is awesome. I usually get a healthy option original with berries and pomegranate puree on top. Speaking of flavors... when will this location EVER get pomegranate yogurt?? Someone else's review said "I don't understand the flavor rotations". I definitely second that notion. Makes zero sense... other locations seem to switch out their flavors seasonally and have new ones. BTW, NEVER get the vanilla latte flavored yogurt. Tastes so disgusting. Good thing they let you sample the flavors! Parking at this particular location is atrocious. It is rare that you find a meter. First, of all, let's get it straight: I love Pinkberry BUT NOT THIS LOCATION. Within the last year, Pinkberry has changed it's topping policy. It used to be that it was cheaper to get a medium with three toppings than a small with the same amount. Fine. I used to labor over my decision: chocolate chips, blueberries, raspberries... or chocolate chips, blueberries, and almond slivers? Sometimes the decision was so hard that I splurged for an extra topping. So, when Pinkberry changed their policy to having as many toppings as you like, I was ecstatic that I could have all four without being charged extra (this semi-assuaged my guilt for paying almost $6 for a cup of yogurt)... Every location that I frequent in the greater Los Angeles area (The Beverly Center, Larchmont, West Hollywood- now closed, Koreatown, Abbot Kinney- now closed, the Grove, EVEN THE IRVINE SPECTRUM) all stuck to the same policy, dividing your cup into pie-pieces- a little spot alotted for each topping. Imagine my surprise then, when I arrived at the Beverly Blvd, Beverly Hills location on my way to my doctor's office, and after my usual four toppings had been alotted, the cashier said, "Ok, so that's a medium regular Pinkberry with 1 extra topping (as she rings me up an extra dollar or so),". I returned with, "I thought it was unlimited toppings, now." She replied matter-of-factly, "Well, it's whatever fits COMFORTABLY in the cup.. and it looks like Michael already gave you a large-enough round of almond slivers before you added the others, so..." I stared, incredulous. She continued, "I guess, I'll let you have it for free this time- but do you have our frequent visitor stamp card?" Mentally slapping myself out of stupor and embarrassment, I replied, "Yes- but not with me." "Here," she said, "you can consolidate them later,". I did as was bid and took the fucking extra stamp card and paid the already outrageous amount and stumbled my way out, sans tip. This type of shit really pisses me off. I already avoid Beverly Hills due to it's pomp and douchebaggery and now I have been reaffirmed as to why. The Beverly Hills Pinkberry is sort of like an asshole who drives his BMW like a fucking idiot, weaving in and out of lanes and pulling crazy 180s into the valet on 1st dates. It's not so much that he's an asshole driver (because those are everywhere in L.A.), it's that he's an asshole driver in a new, black BMW, or Mercedes. I'm sure I wouldn't have complained quite so much if this happened in K-town, because they fuck up everything there but at least they do it unassumingly. read more

I got dragged into this place after devouring a Sprinkles Chocolate Marshmallow cupcake with some ice cold milk. You would think that after eating something so rich and unhealthy - something more on the healthy and tart side would be even less appealing. Well - it was pretty darn tasty and refreshing. Red Mango and Pinkberry are pretty similar in all aspects including flavors, toppings, taste... Great as a healthy alternative to gelato or other types of fatty and sugary desserts. read more
