The service was extremely friendly and accommodating for our larger group sort of last minute. We came in for a friend's last day at work and it was just overall a great experience. A calm and inviting atmosphere immediately makes you feel comfortable. The menus are QR codes and there is plenty for everyone to choose from. I ordered the spicy tuna hand roll and it was really delicious and flavorful. In the bento box, the salad was flavorful and something I hadn't had before but very much enjoyed. All their food is amazing, but I'm going to break down my top picks here: Signature Martinis - Piranha is known for their creative martinis, and you should definitely give one a try. My favorites: - Seattle bean: vodka, Mr. black cold brew liqueur, Kahlua - Peach bellinitini: deep eddy's peach, peach schnapps, champagne, orange Appetizers - Edamame ($5.50): it's a classic. Enough said. Entrees: Boat for Two ($55) - seriously the best bang for your sushi buck I have ever seen. While it will not feed 3 people, it is more than enough for 2. The boat is chef's choice so it may look a little different each time (see photos below). However over the years there are always the same main elements present: - Love at first sight roll: charbroiled white fish over a california roll - Wasabi crusted salmon roll: panko-crusted roll with salmon and cream cheese - Nigiri and sashimi - Seaweed and spicy crab or tuna salad. - Served with your choice of miso soup or house salad. Get the miso and thank me later :) Chicken fried rice ($13) - if you aren't the biggest sushi fan this one's for you! Never a bad experience at Pirahna's. Their happy hour has the best selection of sushi and saki so be sure to try them from 5-7pm. This is the only lychee martini I have ever liked and hits perfectly after a long work day. I don't know what magic they perform in the kitchen but the Wasabi Crusted Salmon roll never disappoints. If you only try one thing on the menu I recommend you go with this. We also order the dragon roll, forget about it roll, and latino roll. I never make room for dessert but they do have a few options on their menu. The flavor was just....off. We then ordered two rolls, adding different sauces to both our rolls. That's how we like them, saucey and wet! The rice on the rolls was very dry, not sure if it was old or not made correctly. I am leaning towards the latter. My reasoning is because you could taste the rice vinegar in the rice. The TX SPURS won, Dunkin's very last points before leaving the league were put up. I made friends with the old management. I joined the community when I was 23. But I grew up in this neighborhood all my life. Today I'm in my thirties. I've even had many first dates here at Piranha (steamy ones, leaving the chef's saying "you know this is a RAW station". Though, I had admiration for em, always wanted to go to Japan, on my own. I came to Piranna Shushi Killer after spending four hours in the Emergency Room getting a RING sawed off my hand with my then time boyfriend. To be a frequenter of this establishment, for dozens of years and not create a problem, never have the manager talk to me on any such matter, was a disruption for me. They practiced power in a place I knew was full of love and affection. She was adeptly on the side of their brand new employee, (I saw training, because I was early arriving at FOUR, and re-entering at 5 the opening hours of oops!) Tonight I had a first time server (or so I hope), get trained, and serve me, (great! I live for this kind of respectful kindness, I just wanna eat!!) I AM NOT competing - she had to ask my order multiple times, even suggested the "Sexy Asian" as a drink. No, I proceeded with me own agenda.. something HEALTHY! I've been in the restaurant business 17years and have plenty of experience plus, patience in and out. Not only did my waitress visit me only once while, I had to get the service of THREE other waitresses. Ultimately after hailing down the manager she got the waitress, Steph, may I?Still not appearing she sent her supervisor who announced a concern about me. Excuse me for having service from FOUR separate servers, and giggling to myself 'quietly' about my snapchats with a BEAUTIFUL man I had just met. I enjoyed my sushi and was respectful of waitresses, while I quietly ordered a meal at the table, THAT was the SAME favorite table I spent my twenty third birthday at, with my family. Truly saddened. I've been to the Arlington piranha killer Ramen and loved everything there. I think this is part of the same company, so wanted to try this place for lunch. Came here on Sunday 1pm lunch. We were the only table here for a good hr. 2-3 tables filled by the time we left. So it was quite dead. And we were still their first customers of the day. Service was fine. The menus were terribly dirty. They were paper inserts, but had sauce and drink stains all over them. All our 3 menus, none were clean. And it's as simple as changing the paper menu inserts or having them laminated to wipe down. Very icky while I'm trying to read the menus or take pics of the menu. The food wasn't impressive to me. I wasn't wowed by anything. Nothing tasted amazing. Their menu had changed. They had better lunch/happy hour deals before. Now it was a short selection of bento boxes. So we got some rolls and hand rolls. I would say, there were sushi left on most of the plates when we left. It wasn't so good I wanted to finish everything on my plate. I liked my dancing eel roll most. The sashimi (cucumber) roll was least fav. It had too many rings of cucumber. And I normally enjoy those bc they are refreshing. After seeing a 3.5 star review, we were hesitant to eat here. Fortunately we did! We ordered first 2 wines and a sake that came in a shot glass inside a wooden box with overflow sake in it (drank the overflow right out of the wooden box and was surprisingly better than the glass). We then ordered our appetizers and main dish. I tell you, we would have regretted not coming here. For the price and the amount of food we received, that alone would be 5 stars. Let me start with the fact I have been coming to this restaurant when it was My Martini/Piranha Killer Sushi. Then they blended into one. We have had multiple birthday celebrations/dinners/lunches/happy hours/even an unofficial wake for a friend who passed who loved it there. It has ALWAYS been fantastic. Our favorite drink was the CHocolate Martini with the real chocolate mousse on the rim. Until Friday night (5/10/2024). My son and I stopped in and it was different. Menu was smaller. I get that. Menus change. Staff was totally different. It happens. Restraint industry has turnover. I order my Chocolate Martini. 1st, IDK who the bartender was but the gasoline they were trying to pass off was awful. I got 3-4 sips before I couldn't take it any longer. And the "mousse"??? Was nothing more than chocolate cool whip. I should have been more cautious when I saw it was sliding off my glass. I drank my water. Which had a lovely chlorine aftertaste. I had a roll and miso soup. Roll was great. Always is. Miso soup was salt broth. But it was hot and I was freezing as we were under a vent. My son had his roll and was fine. Paid our bill and left. And started feeling weird on the drive home. By midnight, I was in full throws of food poisoning. I gave up everything but my memories. Note, my son? Perfectly fine. And he had a crunchy tuna roll and a glass of Plum wine. And this is sad, because I have turned SO many on to this restaurant. I was sad when they closed the Ft. Worth location.
