This does remind me a bit of Trader Joe's minus the fresh produce, I don't recall seeing any. We liked visiting here and glad we stopped in while we were in the area. When we first pulled up my wife said, "What have you gotten us into?" We parked on the west side of the building and opened the door on the west side. I saw an office and hallway, don't park on the west side that door goes nowhere! Anyway we walked around the corner and my wife fell in love with the decor outside, win. The first thing my kids see in the store are the weird cat "statues". I'm not even sure what you would call them. Anyway that is all they wanted. 2 cats out the door, I guess better than the real thing. We found the candy isle. Candy from my childhood, candy from other countries, unique candy, and chocolate galore. My wife picked up a few packages of German chocolate and they all tasted great. I loved the drink cooler and picked up some Guarana. The particular brand they carried was just OK, not the Antartica brand I drank for 2 years in Brazil. I picked up some fresh salsa and it was just spicy enough and the texture was great. I'd recommend their fresh made salsa, great flavors. We plan on stopping in again when we are in the Draper area to pick up some German chocolate and explore some other of their products. This store has everything you could ever want... it just closes early every time the staff can possibly think to do so, AND it doesn't update its online presence to reflect the or decision to close early, or observe a holiday. Figure out how to manage your online presence. We were only 3 of 15 angry customers we observed in the 10 minutes we looked for other options. Pathetic management. read more

Salsas, sauces, noodles, cheese, chocolate, really anything you can't find at your normal grocery store, I'm pretty sure you'll find it here. Foods from many different countries. Fun store to pick up those fun items or just to browse and see what's on the shelves. Picked up a few items today and I'll be back soon. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the store on the outside and probably in too could use a little remodeling and the parking lot would be much better on my car if it was paved. read more

THE place in Draper for off the beaten path items. Anyone who watches the Food Network (like Chopped!) and thinks - "Where could I even find those ingredients?" The answer is Pirate O's! They have a great assortment international groceries as well as a wide variety of gourmet ingredients. I'm in love with their local fresh cheese selection, the fresh pesto, and a fantastic spread of artisan soda. Quirky place that is worth a visit - it's not possible to leave empty handed. read more

Normally, this is our "go to" place in the Draper area for gourmet items. Today changed that. Encountered one of the rudest employees. Apparently, Liam is the front end manager but has ZERO people skills. Store needs to either move him to the stock room or send him to get some training. read more

Such a fun store! So many goods from different countries plus local vendors. From Kinder chocolates to Salsa Del diablo to the cutest ginger bread men (women & trees shapes too!) during the holidays. I've given these as gifts and everyone loves them. It's larger inside than it looks from the outside and the staff is very helpful and polite. I went there to find a specific kind of soda and they had it! I was SO happy, the only other way to get it was to order it but shipping was more than the price of the soda. They let me buy a whole box unopened and gave me a 10% discount. The lady was SUPER nice and even carried the box out to my car. We also order the frozen hot chocolate and almost forgot to grab them but a worker brought them out to us in the parking lot. All the workers were super nice and very helpful. When I'm back in town I will most definitely stop by again. read more

This is honestly one of my favorite places in all of the SLC area. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and the international items are great. It's super cozy and different. My husband and I love the sausage that you can find in the cooler. We always stock up on different kinds of root beers. The different types of candies and chocolates are fun to browser and try. I am addicted to King mints now. They have Tim Tams and Holland rusks! We will continue to frequent Pirate O's. read more

I'm definitely a fan of imported cheeses and chocolates. They have more cream sodas, colas, and types of root beers then you'd ever imagine. It's such a variety of foods you cannot buy at you typical grocery store. read more

This place is so awesome. They have a really odd, ecclectic place. They have foods and knick knacks from all over the world but maintain the charm of an old grocery store. They have all the old candy you grew up with (where else can you get candy cigarettes?). It is a great idea to get gifts here too. read more

If you have never been in this store, you are missing out! The locals that know about it love it! I think they have a ton of loyal customers because of all the unique products that you can only buy at Pirate O's. Their hot sauce selection is second to none. They have tons of international candy, and they even have a huge walk in cooler in the middle of the store stocked full of all kinds of soda. It's also a delicious place to stop for lunch. It's one of the few places that I get the Same thing every time I go. The sandwich I get is the #1 on their menu board. It's some sort of panini and it has a pineapple habanero sauce! So good! I usually come here for the chocolate and other imported candies and they have a decent selection of soft drinks. Nestled in what appears to be an old gas station or general store is one of Salt Lake Valley's hidden gems. Their sandwiches are delicious and filling. Pirate O's is an eclectic mix of foreign foods from across the globe. I will be returning for sure. The number 15 sandwich is amazing! How we love Pirate O's. I wish it wasn't clear on the other side of town. This is the only place I've found to get imported products like Crunchy bars and Riben. They also have a lot of other imports from all over the world. Too bad they won't be able to ever carry Rivella (can't get it out of Switzerland). read more

Cool shop but their deli is awesome and they have the best sandwiches! Their #9 Italian is my favorite. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. Employees are always friendly. I do wish they would extend the deli hours but it's all good- I love this place no matter what. Don't let the location and exterior fool you. As soon as you walk inside you know you've found something great. The sandwiches are perfect. The staff is super nice. The shop itself is quite an eclectic oddity for Utah (I mean that in a good way). I wish my workplace was closer so I could eat lunch there every day. Pirate O's is a great place to find unique foods that you won't find at the grocery store, as well as cool knick knacks and cooking accessories. They carry an eclectic stock of sauces, chocolates, candy, cheese, sodas, tea, pasta... I'm sure I'm missing some things. They usually have a counter with a few samples of their products, which I really appreciate because I get to try something new and usually end up buying something I sampled. They also have a sandwich shop and their sandwiches are delicious. It's a great place to spend an hour or so browsing around and eating one of their great sandwiches. read more

I was overwhelmed when I walked in.... Tried to wrap my mind around the glorious hodge-podge of everything, spread my arms as if to welcome an old friend with a loving embrace and the cute cashier nodded to me... "yes, you are one of us now". Trader Joes on steroids? Yes! I had never been in a place that took me from never knowing something existed to must having it in my life so fast, and repeatedly, as I searched the store.
