Placed an order for pickup. When I went in, there were about 10-12 people sitting along the bar counter. No social distancing. No masks. I didn't make much of it because I kept my distance but then I saw the bartender not wearing a mask and then I saw the entire kitchen staff not wearing a mask. I'm not sure how anyone else feels about it but I live with my mother in-law, an elderly woman who has a comorbidity (diabetes) and pre-existing condition (cancer). Because of COVID I have been more focused on supporting local businesses but the reckless behavior displayed by Pit Stop forces me to never order from here ever again. read more

We found the Pit Stop on Yelp as we were heeding home from Laughlin. The reviews sounded good so we stopped in. It doesn't look very inviting from the outside but we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Very friendly young lay was taking care of the bar and tables. Once our order was placed the chef came out to double check ow we wanted our burgers which shows he really cares about the food he is serving . The burgers were amazing and so was the coleslaw and onion rings!!! The service is top notch, the food is amazing and the prices are very reasonable! At first we sat here for 15 min before we got up to leave because no one even served us or acknowledged we were here, but after getting up and walking out they noticed us and chased behind us calling us back in and profusely apologized. On the way to Vegas and looking for lunch, we took a wrong turn, searched for food and found The Pit Stop. It is a bar and grill so you have your locals hanging out at the bar, which were all friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger with tots. The burger was juicy and flavorful and much bigger than expected. I'm a fan of tots and these were perfectly crisped and salted. My friend had a grilled cheese that wasn't full of grease and onion rings that you could bite into without pulling the entire onion out. My tip to you is don't turn around when you walk in. The food was perfectly executed diner food, the staff was friendly, the kitchen clean (I peeked in), and clean, stocked bathrooms. read more

The frisco burger was one of my favorite burgers ever! I am a petite almost middle age woman in slight denial; I ate every bite of that hamburger. My Italian friend couldn't stop declaring how yummy her burger was ... I think that alone declares this place a delicious American place! You could choose between French fries or onion rings. I got the onion rings and loved them! My friend got French fries ... They were good but didn't hold a candle to the onion rings. The atmosphere inside was very Route 66/Americana. My dumb luck was once again truly blessed as we stopped in here for lunch on our way back from Vegas. The wifey wanted to stop somewhere else other than Peggy Sue's so we opted to pass that place by. Barstow being the first real center of civilization after driving across the vast desert, I was frickin' hangry by the time I pulled off the 15. Drove around the neighborhood until we saw cars parked in front of this joint, so we figured there's gotta be something good going on inside. Our suspicions were correct. This is a mom and pop style gin mill frequented by the locals who kept the atmosphere quite lively during our "Pit Stop". My wife ordered a club sandwich and I had a cheeseburger. Everything about our food screamed fresh ingredients. My burger was made from fresh ground beef that was perfectly cooked medium rare, extremely delicious and juicy as all get out. The fries were perfectly extra crispy as I had requested. My wife's club sandwich had good quality ham & turkey meats, but the refreshing aspect was the bacon. Most shops & restaurants precook their bacon and reheat it as necessary to prepare an order. This bacon was freshly grilled during preparation of my wife's sandwich. The service in this place was extremely friendly. We were treated as if we were one of the locals who regularly frequent this desert watering hole. I plan to visit the railroad museum in Barstow one of these days, and when we do I know where we're going for dinner! read more

Read the reviews and decided to give "The PitStop" a try. Both the wife and I were pleased with the service. There was a car race on the big screen TVs (sound was off a plus for me I don't care for an announcer giving a play by play when I can see it for myself). Beverages were served quickly, the restaurant was just recovering from a tour bus stop. The meal was a little slow (because of the bus), but worth the wait. My wife had the Cheeseburger and onion rings and I had the Frisco burger and fries. The Frisco was spicy hot just the way I like it ( I'm making my self hungry writing this review). Do not bring your kids here! They allow kids but by no means is it a family friendly environment. I learned that the hard way by having one of the worst and embarrassing experiences here. One of the patrons I'm guessing did not want kids visiting, so he made it a point by putting on the most vulgar music he could find on the juke box. All the time we were eating our dinner, I tried to speak very loud to try and avoid my daughter from listening but there was no way of avoiding it. Thank you Yelpers! Like others we are on a road trip and were ready for lunch. There is no way we would have accidentally found the PitStop. It is in a former Moose Lodge close to the giant Wal-Mart. We all three had burgers, they were big and very good. The curly fries were great. Our waitress was accommodating of our special requests. We walked in, and the house bartender, who also was our server, wasn't very friendly. Actually, to call her a server would be a compliment. She was annoyed at our mere existence. We were originally going to do take out, so she handed us menus, and waited (impatiently and annoyedly) while we decided. I could imagine her tapping her foot behind the counter while we decided. We sat down at a table and waited for our food. My burger was medium well, a delightful surprise since I ordered medium rare. It was also overly salted. My husband's chicken sandwich was smeared with avocado goop they called "avocado spread" that has no hint of avocado other than it's green color. When we were leaving, she waited until she had run my card to ask how the food was. I said overly cooked and overly salted, to which she replied "oh". (Her attempt to give a crap I guess).
