It's like a party for my palate! I ordered the Honey Bear pizza. The combination of spicy, sweet, and creamy had my taste buds popping and locking.

I ordered thru Uber Eats. The pizza was nicely sliced but the box seemed a bit too big for the pizza. The slices had shifted apart upon receipt. I got the IYKYK PIZZA which is labeled as having bolognese, mozzarella, ricotta, and chili flakes. The pizza- Bolognese ratio was a bit of a letdown: Bolognese was fairly thinly spread with some slices barely having any; the slices had more basil leaves. Other than that the pizza was not bad. The dough was thin, chewy and tasted a bit like lasagne. The roasted cauliflower had a hint of mint it it which is an unusual combination. The chocolate chip cookie was a decent chunky size but very soft, almost like raw cookie dough. It didn't seem like it had been baked long enough. I stuck it in the oven for another 5 min or so it and it turned out a little better. The menu offers some interesting pizza options, although it seems to be a little on the pricy end. It was not the best pizza delivery experience but it was not bad either.

I would say this is more of a 3.5 for me now. I have been to both this and the Orange location a couple of times over the past few years. They have great pizzas and topping combinations. I love the honey bear one. I tried the Brussel sprouts for the first time and it was good. However, I was a bit disappointed in the amount of toppings. It seems to have reduced significantly from what I remember. One of the pizzas hardly could get 1-2 slices of pepperoni each. Same with the sausage. I know these are artisan pizzas and overloading toppings isn't the point. But I do expect a bit more for the price point. I still think they have great pizzas but the lack of toppings for price, and waiting close to an hour when calling in has me looking elsewhere unfortunately.

In an area that has plenty of pizza spots this one was a pretty solid choice. I met up with some friends on a Monday for some lunch. Between the three of us we shared two pizzas and a salad. The pizzas were a good size and definitely shareable. I liked that they were thinner crust and they gave us some complementary pesto and ranch dressing to dip. For our pizzas we went with their popular Honey Bear pizza and the sausage pizza. The Honey Bear one was definitely on the sweeter side and had ricotta which I enjoyed. I recommend it if you like it sweet. The sausage one was my more preferred one. It didn't have a whole bunch of meat but it was good. Both didn't taste that heavy. For the salad we got the Little Gem Cesar salad which was full of flavor. It was enjoyable. You order and pay first at bar and they bring the food to you. They didn't really check on us while we were there. The inside of the restaurant is large and casual. There is plenty of seating and great for small or larger parties. No outside seating. Parking was easy since they have a whole lot to themselves.

Great pizza! Love that they have vegan and gluten free options. I got the vegan Honey Bee (non gluten free crust). Staff were nice, they played the world cup, spacious, good parking, and attentive on the water. Although seats were super dusty, bathroom was a bit dirty, and pizza was a bit pricey. We got Gluten free Vegan Sausage party, and the Vegan Honey Bee, total $50. Would return though!

A few friends and I ordered 3 of their pizzas (Honey Bear, Field Mushroom, Margherita). The pie is cut into 6 decently sized slices. This was a delivery ordered which came at the estimated time so I can't speak much to the service or ambiance. The crust was thin crust and had a slightly doughyness on the crust. I'd rank the Field Mushroom as my first winner , then the Honey Bear (wish it had more meat), and Margherita (wasn't something I'd order again). Catered this to a party! The downside was the wait time on doordash compared to the time we actually waited. We did the Family Meal: Roasted Chicken & Mushroom Cautappi Pasta, Sausage Party & Pesto Chicken Unfolded Pizzas, and Little Gem Caesar Salad. We also got the Boneless Buffalo Wings (Large) and a Classic Chopped Salad. To be honest, our judgement of the pizza is different from what we think of the wings due to the pizza being cold by the time we got it! All the flavor was there for the wings, but the coldness of the pizzas made it taste even more bland. The salads were great on the side to wash down with such a savory meal. If you get a chance to get the brews at the bar, definitely do it for a great, yummy buzz. We waited an hour for our pick up order. Halfway through, the gentlemen in the front let us know the Spicy Rigatoni Alla Vodka Pasta was actually out so we chose our second option, the Cautappi. I wish they would've let us know sooner because it makes it seem like that was what was setting them back from our order. Thanks for the reassurance from the man working the front that day and another lovely server. Hopefully next time I come, the day won't be too busy!

Pitfire Pizza continues to be a very solid pizza option, especially if you are looking for a gluten-free pie that actually delivers. I had tried the LA location before, which made me confident coming into this visit, and this location did not disappoint. I ordered the gluten-free sausage and ricotta along with the gluten-free mushroom pizza, and both were excellent. The mushroom once again stood out with deep flavor and great balance. The gluten-free crust was crispy and held up really well, which is not always easy to find. It did not feel like a compromise at all, just a well executed pizza. Consistent quality and a great gluten-free option in Costa Mesa.

Love this place Delicious pizza options and . They have great selection also on beers and draft wine and I believe margaritas. You order at the counter and get a number choose your table, and they bring the food to you. I really enjoyed the music they were playing.

If I was a drug addict and Pitfire was my drug of choice, I'd never quit. This is my favorite pizza spot in OC. I bring all my friends here and I go 1-2 times a month. The employees are all so kind, the food is amazing, and the drinks are perfect. They really dedicate themselves to giving you the best service possible. For instance, I ordered a Honey Berr pizza and they brought me TWO pizzas because the first one (according to them) was "too small" so they made me a second one! This place is the best, go ahead and try it.

Ordered delivery last night and was very disappointed. We got two pizzas and two orders of chicken wings... the food did not seem fresh and it was very dry and overcooked. Very sad to receive such mediocre food! Spent almost $100 and immediately regret choosing Pitfire. I had it one time that was really amazing and would say they are very hit or miss!!!!!!

Family order a pizza via grubhub (never doing that again) and it was missing extra ingredients paid for (mushroom, roasted garlic, red onion, salami). Wife called and explained the situation to the manager. Arrived at restaurant, pizza was made exactly as ordered by the manager (Woods, V?) himself. Take a look-magnificent! Tasted even BETTER than it looked. We appreciate the professionalism and excellent customer service. Will share about Pitfire pizza with family and friends. Customer for life! read more

I'm so glad we finally made it to Pitfire! We came around 6 p.m. on a Saturday and it wasn't crazy busy-- we were able to order at the counter, get our drinks and find a seat. They quickly brought our waters, utensils and plates. The two of us split the little gem Caesar and honey bear pizza-- both were delicious! The little gem Caesar was a great size for the two of us to split, basically making two side salads. The honey bear pizza was really unique, a little spicy and a little sweet! It was too spicy for me, but ranch helped cool it down. My boyfriend, however, absolutely loved it! So, if you've got a flair for spicy foods, try it out. I can't wait to come back and try something else soon. read more

The Pizza is soft thin with a thick out crust! Absolutely amazing! The house Ranch is also amazing! The Little Gem Caesar is also great. My favorite is the Sausage Party! In all honestly the service is consistently lousy slow and not very attentive. But the food is worth the lack of service. Also a great vibe to dine! read more

We got the chicken wings, Field Mushroom, and Honey Bear CHICKEN WINGS: The wings were really good. Crisp on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. FIELD MUSHROOM: The flavor of this pizza is so different but in the best way possible. I loved the enoki mushrooms. The crust was cooked to perfection. It wasn't soggy at all HONEY BEAR: This pizza was so good. The drizzle of honey takes it to the next level. The crust was also cooked to perfection. Overall: All the dishes we got were so tasty. 12/10 place. I was trying to find my pizza place after moving to Newport area a few years ago and I kept striking out. One of my friends recommended Pitfire and I gave it ago and have been back about 10 times since and also order it to be delivered often. It's soooo good every time and I feel so happy we found our spot. My favorites are the IYKYK pizza, HoneyBear pizza, The Burrata pizza, Sausage Party pizza, and the Cobb salad!!!!! It looked pretty chill from the outside but when you step in you realize what a homey restaurant it really is! The host very patiently took our orders and let us choose our table! The cheesy knots were divine!! Personally I'm not a big fan of marinara as a dipping sauce but combined with the cheesy warm bread came a beautiful concoction!! The Margarita Pizza was great! Exactly what I was craving ! The service was friendly and it didn't take long to receive our food. Honestly, the water tasted "unfiltered" but that's ok because they provide are great assortment of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages! The price was very reasonable, and in the end they gave me a free cookie and fresh marinara sauce for my leftover knots. Overall a wonderful experience, I will be returning ! (*''*) read more

Review for Pick-up orders: I've ordered for pick-up twice now and both times they've been extremely late based on their order pick-up times. Yesterday, the order pick-up time was 7:51 p.m. I arrived at 7:48 and the team member said it will be ready in 15-20 minutes. I ordered the featured "Beasty Boy" Cauliflower Pizza and a kale salad, which wasn't ready until 8:41 p.m. Their pick-up times are way off. The toppings on the pizza were rather lacking and the crust was on the soggy end. The experience for pick-up orders here have been disappointing with late orders, only to find decent food quality after the long wait. read more

I miss this pizza spot...We ordered takeout for 3 and had leftovers with 2 pizzas, a vegetable side, and mac n cheese. The Honey Bear was really good, I love ricotta and sweet mixed with savory. The mushroom pizza was my favorite of the two though, it was a tad salty, but I love the Enoki mushrooms on there, it is a totally underrated shroom. The mac and cheese, loved the pasta shape, was good. The brussels sprouts were decent as well. read more

I ordered a pizza online it was supposed to be ready 20 minutes ago. I told the lady at the register and she said she'll check on it. I've been standing in her line of sight ever since. She just asked me if I was waiting for a DoorDash order, as if she has never seen me before. She hasn't come back out yet. I can only assume that my pizza was never put in the oven. read more

Simply great food. This has quickly become one of my go to spots. Their pizza is incredible - sourdough crust is delicious. I start craving it during the week. The honey bear, sausage party, and classic margherita are my favorites. The salad is really good too - super fresh ingredients. You can taste that everything is handmade and made from quality. Staff is always super friendly. Great beers on draft. My boyfriend always order the Buffalo chicken wings. Lately we have been going here once a week and love it everytime. Pizza is good just not worth the wait. Almost 55 minutes for 2 pizzas. Never had anyone check on us. It would be wise to let people know before they order, the pizzas will take an hour. Not sure who manages this place but they don't know what they are doing. read more

Great pizza joint in Costa Mesa, I didn't know that they had another location in Orange which is a lot closer to where I live but I was still happy with the food. The way this place works is you order & pay before you sit down. They have a lot of pizza varieties to choose from & they also have gluten free, veg & dairy options. We ordered their mac & cheese & my daughter inhaled it. We also ordered the sausage party that my family enjoyed, I didn't get to try it because it was on a regular & not the gf crust. But it must have been good because we had no left overs to take home. I ordered the honey bear pizza on gf crust which was so good, honestly it's probably my new comfort food. It had a kick to it from the Calabrian Chile however it balances out with the sweetness from bee pollen. The creaminess & nuttiness from the ricotta, mozzarella & provolone & the saltiness from the sausage adds a nice flavor contrast. It's like a party in your mouth good. The service was great as the staff was attentive & would check up on you from time to time. The restaurant could use some updating, the table looks kind of rundown & they could use better lighting. Other than that everything they brought out was great so I can't complain, after all we're not there to enjoy the furniture, it's the food that we came for. read more

As for desserts, the rosemary lemon pannacotta here is some of the best I've had and I enjoy getting a cup whenever we order here. Would highly recommend stopping by if you're up for richer flavors.

The extraordinary thing about the Pasta Sisters is that they offer house made pastas, which guarantees a higher price point, but offers unparalleled texture. The spaghetti has a "bite" that you get from a true "al dente" pasta. Their cheese tortellini were incredibly rich and cheesy, but a touch salty. The drawback of this location is that it's a ghost kitchen. You order it online and the order will be ready for you when you come in to pick it up. The location does not have seating, and you eat it at your own convenience. If you live/work locally, then this can be definitely worth checking out. Because I live out of town, I have to enjoy it either in my car, after a long drive home, or at my wife's office; however, I want to enjoy these $20 pastas in a restaurant, with wine and good company. A ghost kitchen is very different than a restaurant experience. I hope they do choose to bring their restaurant to the OC one day.

Pepper ham, salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, sweet peppers, hot peppers, pickles, oil and vinegar all packed into a soft Italian roll. Every bite had a different flavor going on from the salty meats to the sharp provolone and the crunch from the lettuce and peppers. The oil and vinegar tied everything together perfectly and gave it that classic deli sandwich taste. Even the small size was filling. The cheese calzone was huge and baked perfectly. The outside had that crispy golden brown crust with little charred spots all over it and a nice crunch when you cut into it. Inside was parmesan, mozzarella, and ricotta cheese all melted together and super cheesy without feeling too heavy. Then you dip it into the Sunday sauce and that's what takes it over the top. Their Sunday sauce is tomato based but infused with the drippings from their homemade beef and pork meatballs so it has a deeper richer flavor than regular marinara. You can definitely taste the difference. Really glad I finally stopped here because now I totally get why so many people were talking about it. Definitely a place I'll be coming back

My visit to Pitfire Artesian Pizza was an absolute nightmare! On Sunday, May 21, 2023, my buddy and I thought we'd grab a late-night bite at this so-called pizza joint. Little did we know, we were in for a series of disappointments and a demonstration of the worst customer service imaginable. We entered the restaurant approximately 40 minutes before closing time and were greeted by the sight of an elderly woman desperately seeking assistance. It was evident that she had been waiting for help for quite some time, but the indifferent staff showed no regard for her presence. How can a supposedly customer-oriented establishment blatantly ignore someone in need? After what felt like an eternity, I took it upon myself to intervene since I was slightly taller than the elderly woman. Finally, I managed to catch the attention of a rude and angry gentleman who approached the register. Instead of addressing the woman with basic human decency, he berated her without even bothering to look at her. He barked at her, "You're not going to eat here, you're gonna get it to go, right?" while impatiently rushing her into making a decision. To make matters worse, this gentleman turned his attention towards us and arrogantly assumed that we, too, were opting for takeout. When I informed him that we intended to dine inside the restaurant, he responded with a curt and dismissive tone, saying, "Only if you eat fast!" How dare he treat paying customers with such disrespect and disregard for their experience! The most infuriating part of this entire ordeal was witnessing the appalling treatment of the elderly woman. No individual, regardless of their age or circumstance, deserves to be treated so callously. It was a clear display of the staff's lack of empathy and basic human decency. I vow never to set foot in this establishment again. Pitfire Artesian Pizza has lost a customer for life due to their abhorrent service. If they have any desire to salvage their reputation, I suggest they adjust their store hours on Yelp and Google to avoid inconveniencing and angering paying customers. Furthermore, the establishment's parking lot, windows, and front doors were absolutely filthy and neglected. It's high time they prioritize cleanliness and make an effort to create a welcoming environment. In conclusion, Pitfire Artesian Pizza at 353 E 17th St, Costa Mesa, CA 92627, is a disgraceful establishment with terrible customer service, a complete lack of empathy, and a general disregard for cleanliness. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment, and find a more deserving place to satisfy your pizza cravings. read more

Just because I couldn't find the speak easy(not knowing it was in the back, but can be reached through the restaurant)! But the staff was more than helpful in directing me towards where I needed to be. The ambiance was just what I wanted, mellow but still lively. Everything I could have asked for. The drinks were good and really fun to watch be made. The food was really great. All and all it was good time. I'm happy I was able to finally get back there. Had another fantastic night here tonight. I'm an irregular regular at Pitfire and Pieso and every time I come in it's just a good gosh darn time. All of the servers are super nice and jovial, I feel like we're all like work friends and everything from the simple but delish pepperoni pizza to the BOLOGNESE (with extra parmesan) are consistently great. Yum! The food here is always exceptional, and clearly made with fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly each and every time. I can stop by on a busy Friday night or a quiet Monday lunch and the service is always top notch, and always attentive. It speaks volumes to have great food served with a genuine smile each time! The managers here run a great restaurant, a lot of cosmetic work done inside with newly reupholstered booths, fresh paint and everything is looking great! Great experience as always when dining at Pitfire in Costa Mesa. The servers are always accommodating and super friendly, the food is always served hot and fresh and always fast! They have a great back room for parties and the secret bar in the back makes this spot even more appealing. The Heirloom and Tomato pizza has to be one of my favorites, the tomatoes are nice and fresh and seasoned perfectly. Pitfire has amazing brick oven pizzas, a delicious assortment of pastas (their spaghetti with meatballs and mac and cheese are both favorites!), and a tasty array of fresh salads! They also have a great selection of beers on tap, wine, and superb sangria! With ample seating both indoors and outdoors at their Washington Blvd location (which is nearest to us), they're very family friendly, but what pizza place isn't? All in all, they're our "go to" for pizza on the Westside! read more

I had a fantastic experience at this pizza place! The pizza was fresh, full of flavor, and had the perfect crust--crispy on the outside and soft inside. You can really tell they use quality ingredients. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick and efficient. I especially appreciated the cozy atmosphere and how clean everything was. Definitely one of the best pizza spots I've tried in the area. I'll be coming back for sure! read more

Pitfire is my go to restaurant when in Costa Mesa, if it's for a nice family dinner or for cocktails in the speakeasy, or even a private event in the private dining room, you can always be assured that you will have an exceptional experience when you are there! The honey bear pizza is my all time favorite, the combination of sweet and savory just doesn't compare! And the craft beers on tap, there truly isn't a Pizza place that does it better! read more

I love making my own pizza here. This place is really yummy. It seems a little pricey for a small pizza but it's worth it and it's filling. Fresh out of the oven pizza is the best! Make sure to come here before the crowds otherwise it can take a while to get your food and drinks. Today was the 3rd time I've eaten here and our server Suzy was on top of it. Impressed. Just tried this new place and I loved it. Had the Baked Mac & Cheese and almost fell to my knees. The staff is friendly, ready to help and always made sure our drinks were full. My husband loves your Jamaican Red Ale and the Folded Style Pesto Chicken Pizza. The kids love the clay and your kids pizzas save the day. Thanks Pitfire! Pitfire is always my go to when I'm craving Pizza or pasta. The corn and chorizo pizza or the heirloom tomato seasonal offerings are by far the freshest and most incredible options in the area. I've never had a time where I have stopped in here where I've had a bad dinner. The service is great, the beer is served cold and the tv's always have the game on. The food is Amazing, super fun atmosphere! Love this place, fun for the whole family.. I love that they offer the kids clay at the table instead of boring crayons. Oh my gosh! The pizza here is to die for! So many cool and interesting combos! My girlfriend and I went today and got 2 IPA and they were wonderful. She ended up getting the Burrata pizza which had Arugula and Hazelnut on it (she loved it!) and I got a honey bear which had spicy peppers and honey on it. Sounds weird but so good! I've been coming here for almost two years and I know what to expect every time. Great food and great service. There has been a couple of times when an error was made, but it was always fixed right away, and I leave happy every time without fail. They have a great beer selection and very helpful staff. Great service, excellent food and always a great time. I always get the Big Sur, the shrimp is always cooked perfectly, the honey bear is always a hit, a nice sweet and savory flavor! You can't go wrong with the seasonal Brussels sprouts and bacon or even the sausage party! No matter what you order, you'll be served great food by a great team! read more
