We went here for a late Bday celebration with family. It was the Potato pizza the Wifey wanted and it was suggested to her by a co worker. There is a place in Seattle that had that similar pizza and she had been craving that particular pizza for awhile. We went on a early weekend evening and it was already packed restaurant and patio were full. We were offered to sit at the Bar and could order off of Full Dinner menu. We had started with Meatballs and adult beverages. We had ordered the Potato pizza and a Margarita pizza. Both pizzas were delicious and the crust was thin and not too heavy. Meatballs were also pretty good and tasty. Bartenders and servers were super friendly and informative. I have little kids, so it is easier to do takeout than eat in. A 20% gratuity has been automatically applied to all orders, which seems excessive and unnecessary for pickup. Wow. I'm really not so happy about my experience at lunch today at Pizza Antica. The food is good. No denying it. I loved the olives and corn fritters. The gnocchi was also good as was the pizza. I have an issue with the 20% fee. I understand Covid is tough and tips are important but then earn the tip. Our table was the only one not given a big jug of water so we had to flag her down to get water and I directly said: Can we have a big water like every other table? She never checked in on us. She never came with our check. Once again we had to hunt her down. I always wonder if it's a coincidence that all the typical Lafayette demographic people are getting great service and are happy and smiling but not us. We stopped by after a long drive and were immediately greeted by the manager, a rather handsome fellow, who promptly sat us at a premiere seat in the establishment. The waitress then swiftly appeared and greeted us, explaining the menu in depth. We ordered the Arcini appetizer that were the risotto balls from heaven. We ordered a margherita pizza and the friend chicken, which were both absolutely scrum diddly umptious. The flavors are unique and the selection plentiful. I want to like this place because I live in Lafayette, but the prices have become outrageous. The pizzas are more like personal pizzas for $20-$25 each. Add an appetizer and a drink and you're looking at $60 a person. The service was good, but I don't like the 20% mandatory surcharge. The kids menu isn't even really a kids menu--more like an a la carte menu. Everyone in my party left saying, "I'm still hungry", including my 8 year old. Ugggh. This was our first time outdoor dining and it was fantastic! They've got heaters everywhere, tables spaced safely, and all their staff is wearing masks. The service here is quick and friendly as well. Strawberry and Wild Arugula Salad ($14) - I love that our server split our salad into two when they noticed we were sharing everything. They also brought out a pepper grinder and gave us fresh pepper on top of our salad. The ricotta salata was our favorite part. Heirloom Potato ($18) - This is the pizza we keep coming back to. Adding a star, from 3 to 4. So I return, this time with 2 additional folks to get a better overall taste test. There was wine to be shared, which we brought & paid the corkage fee, very reasonable of $10.00. So between the four of us we had 2 salads, 2 pizzas & 1 gnocchi. The Cesar remains ever so slightly overdressed - it's tasty, yet a bit heavy on dressing & last night heavy on the parmesan cheese. The 2nd salad, Field Greens, didn't go over as well. Lori left some behind stating 'just a tad on the oily side'. Both pizzas were scrumptious: Floyd ordered the spicy sausage & mushroom pizza, there wasn't a bit left, he even failed to share. There was also a marinara pizza with arugula, sun dried tomatoes & grilled red onions. Tasty, hubby ate half, while also sharing his gnocchi. Gnocchi was served with what both pesto & sun dried tomato cream. Very nicely done. Our waiter was personal & attentive; unfortunately we got seated next to a couple with young children who didn't know to use their inside voices, yet very cute. In ending, thanks you Lorenzo for the gift certificate to return & we'll be back. This is a Lafayette standard, been around for what feels like at least 10 years. Food is consistent; their wait staff appears to be struggling for lack of a better analogy. Our waiter was attentive, yet when one watches the rest of the wait staff one wonders 'what are they doing / thinking'; there was a bit of a disconnect between the person taking the order & those running the food out; just an observation. We started with the castlevetrano olives & homemade focaccia. The olives were different, tasty with the zest of citrus, would do again. The focaccia was more like a dry baked bread, than a moist focaccia with the rosemary baked into it - this was not that. It needs some work or it's just the way they make their focaccia. We split a Caesar salad, the dressing was heavy, yet tasteful. You get the choice between whole leaf or cut up, went the former. Lastly we opted for the fried chicken served with creamed rainbow chard, mashed potatoes & spicy honey. Could be me, but the chicken's fried skin seemed over done, the chicken was moist. The honey didn't seem spicy, while the mashed potatoes were mushed, the creamed rainbow chard was different. Lastly take down the Christmas reefs, their aroma is a bit overwhelming. read more

Orders to go tonight . First off, I live in Lafayette and have been here dozens of times over the years. Tonight was extremely disappointing. Ordered the arugula salad the mushroom and sausage pizza the pasta with pepper and a specialty pizza with pepperoni and onions. First off, the salad was enough to feed one person.. the pasta was tasteless and could've been made it home for two dollars. The sausage pizza was good, but my pepperoni and onion pizza had absolutely no pepperoni whatsoever. Basically a roasted onion pizza for $22. For over $100 you would think you would get a better product even if it is to go. Not sure if I will be back because their product seems to be focused on profits and not providing a good product. Had lunch with my Aunt and my youngest at Pizza Antica early this afternoon. Located right next door to Batch and Brine down Mt. Diablo in Lafayette, Pizza Antica has been one of my go to's for the last 8 years or so. We arrived right at opening and were seated immediately. My aunt ordered the Caesar salad and added chicken ($16) I ordered the Warm Brussels sprouts salad ($13) and the pepperoni and fennel sausage pizza. ($19) I LOVE the warm Brussels sprouts and was super stoked to find it back on the menu as it is seasonal and on the Winter Menu. It has bacon, hard cooked egg, caramelized onions and croutons. Love all the textures and flavor to this salad- a must try! I usually order the fennel sausage and mushroom pizza but wanted to be adventurous and try a different one. I should've stuck with the fennel sausage. While the pepperoni and fennel sausage was gorgeous to look at, it had smoked caciocavallo on it (smoked mozzarella) and I found it in combination with the pepperoni and sausage to be too salty. Will stick with the fennel sausage next time. We also shared the espresso affogato for dessert. ($6) I've never had it before and forgot to take a photo but that was delicious. A scoop of vanilla gelato, a bit of sweet cream with a small cup of hot espresso pour over. All in all, a lovely meal. Service was solid- will be back soon! read more

What a gem!!! My husband and I decided to grab an early dinner last evening at Pizza Antica and it turned out to be one of the best meals I've had in a while! We started with their BURRATA. I was honestly not expecting a lot from this dish, but it was such a stunner! The burrata was soft and delicious. It paired very well with the toasted focaccia. The salad on the side was well seasoned and added so much flavor and freshness to the dish. Then came the HEIRLOOM POTATO PIZZA which was equally good. The pizza bread was perfect - light, airy and chewy. I really liked that the potatoes were thinly sliced and well cooked. The pizza was also topped with caramelized onions and white truffle oil. I could have used some more seasoning personally, but the overall combination of toppings worked perfectly. We ended our meal with their rich and creamy TIRAMISU. It was perfect! The cream and mascarpone was light and not overly sweet. A very well balanced tiramisu with just the right amount of espresso. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and prompt. I attended my cousins rehearsal dinner at this location. It's one of the couple's favorite places to eat. It was a great experience. The Caesar salad was delicious. I ordered it with grilled chicken it was tasty. The chicken was grilled to perfection and juicy. The gnocchi was also very well cooked and tasty. It has been the largest gnocchi I've ever seen. Lol . Two-three bite gnocchi. The pizzas. Oh wow can I say mouth heaven. The pizzas are cooked to perfection. Crispy, tasty and fresh. Yum yum yum. I used to eat at the Santana Row location fairly frequently so I was delighted to find this location closer to home. I am a huge fan of the burrata and the meatball app so when I stopped next door for cupcakes at Susiecakes with a friend we had lunch here on a whim! The outdoor seating is lovely and well distanced, our server Piper was friendly and the food was delicious as always. In addition to those appetizers we got the broccoli pizza with ricotta- definitely add the ricotta!!! It adds a creaminess that just elevates the pizza in the perfect way. I love proper thin crust wood fired pizza. It's one of the perfect foods. Satisfying but not heavy. Simple yet complex. Classic but customizable. It's brilliant. And since I have such love for it I have very high expectations, and Pizza Antica exceeded those high hopes. To keep it short and sweet - the prices are fair if not overly reasonable, the quality is superb, and the service is solid. The arugula salad was lightly dressed with greens and perfectly ripe strawberries. It was a great sized portion to share and didn't disappoint. The margherita pizza was spot on. Tasty acidic sweet sauce, melty cheese, and vibrant fresh basil. Good margherita pizza is nearly inhale-able and making those slices vanish was no problem at all. The three cheese pizza with broccoli, caramelized onions, and pancetta was brilliantly balanced. Salty but not fatty. Rich but not heavy. I'm sad to say it was a very disappointing experience tonight. I was really looking forward to our meal. We ordered the fennel sausage pizza with caramelized, onions and mushrooms with pesto sauce. The pizza was the only really good thing of the night. We also ordered a Caesar salad with fried chicken. The chicken was actually very good, but there is hardly any lettuce and very little Parmesan cheese . But the real disappointment of the night came when we ordered those two dishes. And a table to our right who came 20+ minutes after us got our salad, and the table right next to us who ordered a half an hour after us got our pizza. We had someplace to be so we were in kind of a hurry . Almost an hour after we ordered, our pizza arrived, and they had red sauce instead of pesto. We just took it. I think the waitress could have been a little more attentive to our table, but the kitchen really was the sore spot of the night. There are too many good pizza places to come back here. And it's sad because I really wanted to like it tonight. Three Stars for the pizza 2-3 stars for the salad. 2 to 3 stars for the waitress, and zero for the kitchen. I also guess that restaurants don't try and take care of you in someway when they screw up the order anymore. The whole thing just left a really bad taste in my mouth. read more
