This place is a Hyde park staple. So there is no excuse for poor service and bad food. To go order very simple bbq shrimp salad with dressing on the side and a order of garlic bread. I get the salad and it literally has 4 shrimp in it. They should be SHAME... not only does it only have 4 shrimp they are over cooked. it comes with black beans, tomatoes and corn but seems as if they left it out of my salad and just gave an overdose of lettuce. The tortilla strips are even STALE! And to top it off they forget to include the garlic bread to my order. seems as if they just squeezed a bunch of BBQ sauce on the top of the salad and then put it in the container I am so disappointed. For $15+ I expect way better service and quality of good. I will not be going back here. read more

While having lunch at Pizza Capri this afternoon, my husband and I watched this guy enter the restaurant and make a B-line to the bar. The bar was unattended and this guy proceeded to place his filthy hands in the bar's garnish tray. He grabbed a handful of cherries, took a seat, and enjoyed them one by one. If I wanted to order an alcoholic beverage, this unsanitary behavior definitely changed my mind. Not to mention, the food and service was awful! This place has my favorite pasta dish of all time; Spinach Ravioli Fromaggio! I promise you it's to die for. It is a spinach infused pasta filled with ricotta cheese in a tomato based cream sauce with cooked spinach. Believe me when I tell you that sauce is devine. If you try this dish you won't be let down. Some other standout dishes are the tequila lime chicken pasta, the pasta shells with salmon, and the BBQ chicken salad. I quite like the ambiance of the restaurant. The place is set up so that you can see the chefs whipping up meals while you wait on your food -- it's not destructing, nor does it take away from the experience in any way. Each table has olive oil with Italian seasoning as well as Parmesan at the table. They bring you bread at the beginning of your meal. The prices are a little high, but that hasn't stopped me from coming back time and time again. The only reason I don't give Pizza Capri 5 stars is that when you branch out beyond the dishes that I've mentioned, it tends to be a little hit or miss on the flavor profile. But at the end of the day this place has many great dishes, and I recommend it to all lovers of Italian cuisine. read more

Placed an order with Pizza Capri thru UberEats and got someone else's food. Gave them a call back just to see if my original order was still there and was immediately greeted by a grumpy ass man. In the end, we didn't get any help, and buddy refused to accept any responsibility. I get it was thru uber but either way they messed up . They either handed my uber the wrong food, or they allow just anyone to grab peoples food without confirming it's theirs... during a pandemic. I actually loved this restaurant, but this experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Pizza Capri is a Hyde Park staple that really doesn't get enough credit. It's been around forever and is still just as delicious as when they first opened. From pasta, to salad, to pizza - the flavor doesn't disappoint. It's sooo good. I hadn't been in years and my husband and I ordered carry out since they don't deliver to our area. We got a tossed salad - which came with house made dressing, pizza, spicy chicken linguini, and southwest egg rolls. Everything tasted amazing. My only complaint was there was a little logjam for carry out, and by the time my husband paid for our food and drove the 10 minutes it takes to get home, some of our food wasn't really hot anymore. I would still order from here again and again because it's just so good. read more

The customer service for this location has gone downhill. I would highly recommend NOT!!! placing an order on-line, it's never right. When you call to make a complaint the staff becomes defensive, as if the inconsistency with the quality of the food and the reason behind why the orders are inaccurately prepared is your fault. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because things seemed a bit unorganized. I wanted to dine in and it was hard finding someone to seat me. The staff was great, really good customer service. The food was delicious! I had the chicken parm and my husband had the tequila lime chicken pasta. We had mozzarella sticks for an app and everything tasted so good. I was actually surprised because I've had there pizza and I've always thought of it as just average but the pasta dishes are amazing. It's located in Hyde park so parking is difficult to find. Breakfast & brunch is served here on the weekends... I was getting a haircut @ Hyde Park Barber Studio and realized I was hungry. I wanted something egg based and could not think of another place that served breakfast in the area other than the original Pancake House and I did not want to go there. I asked my barber and he told me Pizza Capri could fulfill my request. After my haircut, I drove over and luckily found a parking space that did not require me to pay a fare box. Walked in and told the host I heard they served a good breakfast so he handed me the menu. The veggie omelet immediately caught my eye. It had broccoli, mushrooms, cheese and asparagus and of course I got the egg white version. The meal came with wheat toast and home fries...yum! I came here after attending a party at the Promontory. I was a little disappointed they weren't seating outside anymore since it was a beautiful night and only 9:00. Never the less they got us seated inside pretty quickly. Let me first start with the bread they give you when your seated. I was starving and it was delicious. I mixed my own concoction of oil, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper to dip the bread in. I ordered an appetizer as my meal and went with the chicken southwest egg rolls. I found then very filling and loved the chili mayo dipping sauce. Better yet I took two home as leftovers and they made the perfect breakfast. This place is really close to the apartment, so we were hoping it'd become our local Italian place. It is always fairly busy at night, so we made a reservation. Unfortunately, it was not that great. I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs to share, and while the pasta was cooked well (overcooked pasta is a tell-tale sign of not knowing what you're doing,) the sauce was obviously canned tomato sauce, and the meatballs tasted like microwaveable meatballs you'd find at the grocery store. The other pasta meal that had been ordered wasn't much better. Maybe the pizza is better, we didn't try that, but the pasta was positively disappointing. Couple that with the acoustics being absolutely terrible (we practically yelled to hear each other across the table,) and it really wasn't a pleasant experience. If you're looking for some Italian food, try somewhere else. 4 (standard) - 3 (bad sauce, bad meatballs, bad acoustics) + 0 (nothing special) = 1 star. read more

Horrible Service leaves a poor impression on a loyal customer for the future. I placed an order for delivery through Uber eats and I received the wrong order with a name that was similar to mine. I contacted Pizza Capri to share and they expressed this was not their issue. Apparently they don't believe that it is also their responsibility to confirm orders that they give to Uber Eats. The manager "JT" was very rude after saying he would have the Oder remade he then put me on hold and left the phone and when someone else picked up said he was no longer available. At this point I will not frequent Pizza Capri based on the discourteous way I was treated and how dismissive they were regarding the situation. Delivery/Takeout I could have made myself after a trip down the frozen food and oil aisle. We checked in our hotel that is literally 50 steps away from Pizza Capri (if even) and decided to order delivery because of being exhausted from a long day of travelling. Despite the mediocre reviews on Yelp, we figured it was a safe bet because it was so close to the hotel our food would not lose its freshness and its difficult to mess up italian food. I ordered the Farmer's Sandwich, and my friend ordered the fried calamari and the creamy garlic chicken alfredo. The calamari looked like they bought it frozen and fried it, and served it with watery marinara sauce. It was probably the worst fried calamari I've ever had. The grilled chicken breast in my sandwich was dry and burnt on some parts and the veggies made the bread completely soggy. The sandwich seemed as if it had been just sitting there for quite a while wrapped in Saran wrap waiting for the rest of the order to be made and walked over to our hotel room. To improve this experience, I would recommend learning to make food orders in a logical order. I most definitely would not recommend ordering takeout from here to anyone. Maybe the dining experience in the restaurant was different, but I would never pay that much again for subpar italian food.
