Pizza Capri in Hyde Park is a staple and go-to for me. Today I ordered one of my usuals, salmon, and pasta shells. I received the order, took it upstairs, and was disappointed because the sauce was like colored water. Things happen, so I contacted the store, expressed the issue, and they were going to remake the order and send out again. I received the second order and again extremely disappointed all they did was add an overabundant amount of SALT to the dish. It is pretty disgusting and non-edible unless you want your blood pressure to skyrocket. Totally unhappy and will rethink continuing to patronize the restaurant. This place is your average Hyde Park Italian restaurant. I do like the four cheese pizza and the Greek pizza, but there are much better pizza options in Hyde Park. I've never had to wait for a table here and surprisingly found it rather empty every time I've come (last time I came was a Friday night). The deep dish is amazing and the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars. Big fan. But had the spinach & artichoke dip and I'm extremely unhappy. One for $9.95 it's overpriced for something so small. Second it's extremely oily and and doesn't taste good at all. The Lincoln Park in exceptionally better. From the preparation, to presentation, and taste the Hyde Park location drops the bell every time. The chopped avocado salad isn't chopped at all, the pasta shells with salmon is significantly smaller for the same regular size as Lincoln Park, and their ordering system is lackluster at best. I always am upset when I order from this location and this was my last time being disappointed. read more

Ordered a chicken and avacado salad to go at 9:25 pm . when I got home no chicken and no avacado on a small salad. I was charged over $10 for it and left a small tip to individual who brought food and bag . Maybe too close to closing , maybe would have been different if dine in .no getting away from it not being the correcr order and you can get a better bang for your buck on a salad elsewhere. read more

We live next door and order from here at least twice a week (usually closer to 4 times!) Everything is amazing, particularly the gnocchi with vodka sauce and the CHICKEN. As much as we'd love to eat pizza 4 times a week, we generally order from here so often because they make one of the best grilled chicken salads we've ever had. Took my daughter and her friends here for an afternoon lunch. Have eaten here numerous times prior to the pandemic and this is my first time back. My daughter and her friend both ordered creamy pasta with shrimp and her other friend ordered the tequila lime pasta. My daughter loves pasta and she didn't even want to take her leftovers, besides the bland food there was a hair on her plate. Her friend felt sick in the car after eating her meal; no one enjoyed their meals but didn't want to disappoint me because our bill was $139. I had the bbq shrimp salad and the last time I had it, there were ample shrimp and it was delicious. This was not the case today. There were only 4 small shrimp dipped in bbq sauce. The salad was bland and not what I remembered. I was very dissatisfied with our meals all bland and the service was not what I was use to. The best thing was the elderly gentleman who poured our water, he was courteous and on point. Not sure what's happening at Pizza Capri but I won't waste my money here again. read more

I've been here a couple of times being in the area and love the Pasta Shells with Salmon. However after yesterday's lunch, I don't think I i will be able to return. We sat at a table near the bar and the bartender was very sick. He was coughing when we entered and throughout the afternoon we saw him cough into his hands (then use them to roll a lemon and cut it), put meds on a plate and then serve lemons on that plate, and cough onto glasses and drinks. He was a middle aged man with a fedora and I didn't want to say anything but noticed other waitresses staring at him too. The couple next to us saw him coughing and requested hot water to soak their utensils in. He was very sick and it was unfortunate to see but he didn't wash his hands, use hand sanitizer, or leave the bar once. I didn't feel great that evening and actually felt pretty nauseous. Alrighty, this place is your classic mediocre pizza and italian food joint and don't get me wrong, that place is necessary in every neighborhood. I just don't understand why this place needs to be so expensive and serve such large portions! I ordered the chicken picatta and it was OK as expected, but lordy that was enough to feed me for 2 days for $17 while I would have gladly paid $13 for a portion half that size. The sauce was probably the best part, it was light and creamy - a hard feat to accomplish. It had wilted spinach and pine nuts which was nice, and the chicken wasn't too tough or rubbery. The strangest part was the raw (?) pieces of tomato mixed in. I ate them cause I love veggies, but they definitely didn't add to the dish. Gotta give a special shout out to their table bread though and that good olive oil. Ooooo boy I would go back just for that. The olive oil was nice and garlicky and for a hangry girl showing up, it was divine! I also got their tiramisu and that may have been the best thing (besides the bread and oil). So highly recommend that. I would be willing to give this place another try to try some of their pizza because every one of those that went to a table looked really good - but for not, not super impressed. read more

Have been here a handful of times and have never been disappointed with the food or service. The most recent visit was carry out due to covid, but again the food was just as fresh as dine in service. Living far and having to travel an hour back home the food gets reheated, but even when reheated it never fails to be delicious. Deep dish pizza, and pastas have been our go to. Was looking for a small, nice and intimate to dined for my girlfriend's birthday. I ran across this place. I was amazed and at awed. It reminded of a small Italian restaurant in movie. Everything from the table cloth, wine, music and the view was original. We've found the spot. Our spot to call our " little Italy in Hyde Park". I recommend this place. A friend and I went there today, just for a salad and a couple of cocktails. The service was horrible and I kept asking "whose table is this"? The water and bread came quickly, but we waited forever to order. Then, the owner appeared and promised to send someone right over. Well, first of all, the menu says in big bold print "Gratuity Included", which led me to believe a $12.50 martini would cost $12.50 plus tax. Not the case. Instead, after getting the check for our cocktails and salad (server was very friendly, it just took forever!), they ADDED the gratuity to the bill. I did not appreciate that, because I consider that false advertising. Drinks were very good and for $12.50, the martinis were a decent size. But the menu should read "Gratuity will be added", not "Gratuity Included". Probably won't return. read more

I placed an order of 2 salads using grub hub because I get free delivery as an amazon prime member. I had very basic instructions (i.e. ranch dressing instead of the standard dressing and no jicama). The worst part of the entire experience was not even the incorrect food but rather the rude manager who got on the phone and pretty much said " what do you want me to do, I don't have another driver". I ended up here in a rushed state, having left the overhyped Giordano's down the street. I was greeted immediately by the cashier who directed me to the bar as requested. I was so hot (and hot under the collar) and immediately requested a huge glass of water and a beer both delivered with a smile by Darlene. The presumed owner offered me a complimentary slice of miraculously delicious pizza. Upon the thin tasty crust was a trio of parmesan, bleu and another cheese along with fresh mushrooms and spinach. It was a delight! Watching the time for a train I downed a second glass of water and half of my beer. Darlene noticed I enjoyed it and gave me another piece, to go. It took a really long time for the pizzas to come and they messed up the order and brought just 1. Our Spicy Chicken Pesto pizza tasted good, but nothing special. Not bad! Ordered from the Hyde Park location and tried the rigatoni with meat sauce. Their sauce has some interesting seasoning to it...I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it was good! A really hearty, savory sauce, and a lot of meat. I also got a side of meatballs which were also good. Pasta is well-cooked. Ordered a side of the cheese garlic bread, which is good, and a good-sized order. But holy hell, the garlic!! They put a ton roughly-chopped, fresh garlic between the bread and cheese, so every bite was met with a mouthful of raw(ish) garlic! We had to pull the cheese off the bread and scrape the garlic off in order for it to be edible. And then there was the tiramisu, aka a pile of Marscapone on top of regurgitated lady fingers? The flavor was fine, but the lady fingers seemed to be whipped into a paste, and buried in an inch of marscapone. :( While the food was decent, it was a bit over-priced....besides the few missteps and the prices, it's overall a good spot. It usually has great, fresh-cooked food. Perhaps delivery isn't the best way to enjoy their meals. I ordered the Tequila Lime Chicken which is fettuccine with sautéed chicken, tri-color peppers, red onions and cilantro in tequila lime cream sauce. The pasta was hardened in some spots, and dark brown in color. I was told the sauce (which was delicious) cooks up that way, but the texture of the pasta was my concern. It was as if the pasta was cooked and then set aside too long. After a little taste and forking through the entree I called the manager on duty to inquire about the intended consistency of the meal. I was given a credit for a future meal which I used three days later on their Popeye Penne, which was a marked improvement! This entree consisted of chicken in a sautéed parmesan basil cream sauce with shallots, pine nuts & spinach tossed with penne pasta. I loved my visit. First of all the olive oil for the bread is seasoned so well. It is delicious!!! I came with my family and I was surprised that they could accommodate us so quickly because the place is kind of small on the inside. Today makes the second time that Pizza Capri has screwed up! I ordered a pizza at 4:30 pm through Grubhub. It's now 6:30 and we still don't have our food! I've called 3 times and each time I'm told that it's 10-15 minutes away!!! Grubhub contacted them and got the same response. What is going on that you can't deliver food on time? What is going on that you'd rather have repeat customers wait hours for food instead of canceling the orders and refunding the money! Ridiculous!!!!!! read more

I patronize this restaurant QUITE often, and it pains me to leave a negative review; however, because I've experienced another error - on their end - , and they demonstrated no accountability, I must leave comment. I placed order today, & the young lady who took order (stated she was new employee, so I'm giving her mercy; everyone makes mistakes), took order, repeated it to me twice during conversation, and verbally gave it to someone one else. Order arrived to my home, incorrect. I contacted restaurant and explained order was wrong, and the reply I was given was, "did she repeat it" and "well she didn't charge you for it". Yes, she repeated (it was still wrong), and correct I was not charged, but it wasn't how I wanted my order. Long review, I know. Simple customer service response- "I'm sorry we got your order incorrect". That would have been appreciated; all the other unnecessary. Hands down one of my favorite places to dine in the Hyde Park area. Quality food and service consistently. My all time favorite dish is the Tequila Lime pasta!! To me this is the best pasta on the south side and never disappoints! The chicken rosemary potato pizza is amazing as well. I had a craving for the buffalo tenders so I came here to dine outside. When I walked inside, the gentleman told me I could sit anywhere I wanted. I picked the perfect table with a nice view to people watch lol. I was there a few minutes when a curly haired man approached me and said "you're gonna have to move ". Wow! Really? I should never have been asked to get up! I started to get up and leave but those tenders are so bomb . I got up and moved to another table. Then the guy comes to me with paperwork about corona virus , which was beyond tacky. I don't need any rules to be reading. It is their job to simply explain the policy. Ok now let's talk about the swarm of bees they have buzzing around in people's faces. They took absolutely no precautions to prevent them from flying everywhere! I mean everywhere! They were flying in my face , food, all around the table. As I looked around, I noticed other people swatting at bees as well. Very very tacky!!! I decided to eat my food inside. The man who originally told me to move passed me a few times. He could have at least said something , offered me something , or showed in some way that he was sorry for embarrassing me and being completely unprofessional .
