I took my girlfriend to eat here, and we had a stuffed pizza. It was alright. Nothing special at all. The other night, we wanted some pizza, so we ordered a thin sausage pizza delivered and wow. It was awful. It was this gross middle ground between thin crust and hand tossed. It was kind of like eating tasteless sauce and cheese on a soggy cracker. Anytime I have pizza from a restaurant that is worse than a Jack's frozen pizza, it is the last time I will ever eat from that place. This was one of those. read more

Love Pizza Capri. They deliver....their food is fresh and tasty. There are not that many choices to choose from in Hyde Park besides Medici and Z & H but this is one that is great for take out or delivery of salads-love their salads & sandwiches. They have a lot more to choose from. The staff doesn't have any chip on the shoulder attitude. Very friendly and there is sure to have something for everyone here. I think they need to do a renovation of Pizza Capri though and open up the entire restaurant so it has huge windows and more natural light and is more modern looking. The inside is a bit dated. Ok well I give up here don't think I'll be back. Last visit was 12/18. I always get the same pasta dish I just give up. It was delivered to the table warm not hot and I don't know what kind of meat that was. It was supposed to be chicken. I think it's the Tuscany something but I always get bow tie pasta. I even told the waiter to make sure it's hot, hint hint. It arrived luke warm and it was; not that great. I didn't see any roasted red peppers and the other ingredients looked suspect. Came here after visiting the Museum of Science and Industry. I have never been to Chicago before but my friend who lives in the area told me they have the best deep dish pizza comparable to Giordanis. We came by around 6:00PM on a Sunday and this place was packed. We only waited for 10 minutes before getting getting a booth seat close to the window. I asked for a booth seat beforehand so they accommodate when they can. The wait was shorter than I expected and there were plenty of chairs in the reception area. The ambiance of the place reminds me of a rustic Italian villa. Before serving our order, they brough out a fresh loaf of bread wih real butter and a butter bottle in a dish. The portions were generous and the staff will answer any questions you have about the menu or the city. We thought we ordered a small meal but we could not even finish, so expect leftovers. I was never out of water, so I knew they were paying close attention. This would my favorite local restaurant in the Southside by far. read more

Pizza Capri is one of my favorite restaurants on the south side of Chicago. And I'm born and raised in the area. But on Saturday during lunch, was probably my last time coming. I had a horrible experience with one of the waitresses. She had the worse attitude with my family and I. After we made it through dinner with her terrible vibe, my dad told her she can keep the change from the tab. The change was only $2, however I, myself, had already told my table i will leave the proper tip on the table. Before we left the restaurant, the waitress brought back the change and told us "y'all can keep that $2 and change" and then she proceeded to go to the bar and tell a older man loudly about our "$2 tip" and laughed. I was so appalled. I spoke to the waitress and tried to tell her that she talked her way out of a tip because the $15 was already on the table. She told me "being nice don't pay her bills." And walked away. I told the manager about his rude waiter. And just left with my $15 tip and my $2 tip she gave back. read more

It's a nice place for a casual dinner. We ordered shrimp fettuccine and tiramisu. The bread and oil infused with herbs was delicious. The fettuccine was very disappointing and the tiramisu was average at best. We had great service and our glasses of water were constantly refilled. Often my experience with Pizza Capri has been a pleasant one, however, today was not one of those days. One of the waitstaff (Keto), decided he did not like my hair color, what I was wearing or the way I smelled, because he decided that I was not worthy of the same treatment as the other patrons around me. I watched as he took orders all around me, he even took the order of a couple who came in after me, before he took mine. When he finally deemed me worthy of attention (and I say this dripping with sarcasm), I asked him why he took the other people's order when I was clearly there first, Keto decidedly informed me that the other couple was in a hurry (as if their time was more important than mine), and that both orders were going in at the same time, so it didn't matter. REALLY! Is that something you say to a customer. When I placed my order, I asked for extra dressing with my salad, if I got it, one of you readers went into the kitchen and made it for me. He brought my food to me, but never inquired if I needed anything else, until he saw me speaking to someone, which he assumed was about him (he was right). Only then, did he insult me by coming over to ask me if I needed something else. I packed my own food with the help of the nice young lady at the front and I proceeded to ask for management. Management gave me the usual concern, however, I don't really think this issue will be addressed. I was truly surprised by my treatment, because this has never happened before. Pizza Capri was a great place to stop at for a late-night, satisfying meal in Hyde Park. We arrived around 10pm and the place was still bustling. We waited for about 15 minutes and were promptly seated by manager and staff. The menu has a great selection of classics and spin-off dishes. They have a full bar though I did not partake unfortunately. I almost ordered an appetizer (their salads sounded delicious) but filled myself up on their bread basket instead. A simple Italian white bread was provided but the real star was the house made garlic and herb olive oil to dip it in. A simple and effective combination of spices and garlic transformed the white bread into something much more and was some of the best bread+oil I've ever had! For the main course I ordered the tricolor tortellini in a spinach, pine nut cream sauce with a nicely grilled chicken filet. The dish was served piping hot and though I ordered the smaller size, was plenty of food - caution on the larger size! Tortellini was delicious and the cream sauce wasn't too heavy, nicely coating the noodles and chicken. The pine nuts added a delightful flavor and made the dish stand out. I only wish there were more proteins in the dish, more pine nuts and chicken. Still a fantastic first visit! I look forward to returning for salads, pizza and drinks. Update to follow. read more

Came to Chicago for a quick weekend trip and asked at our hotel where to get good Chicago deep dish. They pointed us to Pizza Capri. We ordered a large pie with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and green peppers. We also got the Mexican egg rolls appetizer as that is what the waitress recommended. And a tiramisu as that is my favorite dessert so I try it everywhere I go. The kids loved the pizza and the appetizer because they were heavily seasoned. The pizza was cheesy and the crust was very good. However the green peppers had a weird pickled taste and were not cooked much at all. They were also huge chunks, bigger than one could eat in one bite. The sausage was more of a breakfast sausage than an Italian sausage which was odd for pizza. The egg roll appetizer was ok, but the dipping sauce was basically just mayo. The tiramisu was not really what I would qualify as tiramisu but like a tiramisu-style dessert. It was very light cake sipping with super sweet coffee covered in whipped cream and liberally dusted with cocoa. Just meh for me but as I said my teenagers were fans. read more

One of my favs!!!!! The food is amazing and fresh. The people are awesome and of course I love the Hyde Park neighborhood in general. If you go be sure to try the Salmon Pasta. We've ordered the pizza take out about 15 times and we have only had a bad experience once (the ingredients were messed up but they corrected this and gave us free cheesecake). Dining in is nice too, I would go just for the olive oil and bread! Whatever they put in the olive oil is amazing. The servers are attentive and they have a lot of great menu options. Ordered a bbq shrimp salad here for lunch that came out to $14 and change. As I waited for my Salad to be prepared I saw that none of the cooks were wearing gloves. Guess it's just me but it's not appealing to see cooks handling food without gloves if your not going to wear them don't be in the front where customers can see you. That spoiled my appetite for sure. When I get back to work I see the smallest salad (equivalent to a Wendy's side salad) with 5 shrimp on it.
