Pizza D'oro is a great place for pasta and pizza. When I first approached the place it looked like a dive and I began to lower my expectations. However, once the food was brought to the table I was pleasantly surprised at how great everything was. Not only was my linguini with baby clams and shrimp scampi delicious, but the portion was huge. I also appreciated that the service was relaxed as our table had a difficult time deciding amongst all the offerings on their menu. I could have gone so many ways with my dinner last night--subs, pastas, pizza, &c... It's nice to know that even in the most trying of circumstances, customers who are overly analytical, the waitresses remained patient with us. It's also nice to know they have so much to offer here. I'm looking forward to coming back here and tasting first-hand at the amazing pizza everyone is always talking about here. Holy crap. They don't kid around when they say "GIANT" slice of pizza. No sir, not at all. I've only been here for their lunch specials: Everyday till 4:30pm, everything from pizza to pasta, and such a great deal! The GIANT pizza is about 4-5 slices of Domino's put together. Even though it's big it's still tasty. Sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms. Mm mm! So cheap! Love it. Try to dine-in when you come here! When you dine-in for their lunch specials you get a house salad included topped with lots of mozzarella cheese. Also, their ranch is amazing. read more

First off, I LOVE all of the Italian decorations in here. I am obsessed with Italy so the decor was perfect. From the outside, a person may wonder if they're at the right place because this restaurant is among a small line of businesses that are almost in an industrial block of the neighborhood. The restaurant is very small ! It probably fits thirty people at full capacity. Side note : They offer all you can eat lasagna or spaghetti but I'm not sure if it's for the table or per person. I ordered a pizza sub and it was pretty good. Nothing out of this world but I liked it. It had mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage (instead of ham), peppers, and onions. The Italian dressing on the salad was delicious ! My boyfriend had a slice of pizza and he thought it was amazing ! Our server was nice but did not seem thrilled to be at work. After my first visit, I came back to try different menu items to give them a second shot. Like many of the reviewers, I had also hoped to grace Pizza D'oro's with 3 or 4 stars, but sadly, my rating has only increased by one, due to the better service. The salad we ordered was basically some lettuce and carrots with mozzarella cheese sprinkled around the italian dressing was very questionable. I ordered the fettucini alfredo with chicken breast parmigian strips, as the owner has suggested this to me earlier. The dish was completely lathered in sauce and was a bit too salty for my liking. However, the chicken was not soggy, so that was the best thing after a couple bites before the salt intake was nearing its maximum level. The fettucini was also too long and hard to eat or share. They were almost half the length of the table! My boyfriend ordered the garlic chicken breast over penne. The chicken was overcooked, shredded and not mixed with the pasta, but rather laid on top. The pasta was not al dente. The sauce was nowhere to be found but rather puddles of oil underneath all the pasta. There was no other seasoning but the overpowering flavor of garlic. The garlic bread that also came with our dishes was basically toast that was probably heated earlier or from a day before. It was very simple. You could barely taste the garlic or butter on the bread. I had expected more as one reviewer said it was the best thing they had ate, and the bread fell very short. Overall, I think Pizza D'oro is better for its pizza than its pasta. The service was much better and she was very attentive. The best time to go to avoid the crowds is probably before the dinner rush. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while so I was super excited to head here last wed. It's a small mom and pop shop with the nicest host/waitress. She let us know that it was ayce spaghetti. Our fatasses thought it was a brilliant idea for $5.55 why not. We also decided to get the giant slice of pepperoni. These pasta plates are no joke! Our first plate came out and I knew I was done. I was able to tackle about 1/3 with a side salad before I succumbed to food coma. I couldn't even try my pizza...that came home. Great family pizza place. Sooooo not good for you (health wise), but very good (taste wise). They have ONE of the largest pizzas I've seen (28"). Not super cheap, but this isn't dominos. Parking is easy. Relatively easy to find. Off of major road. Food is good. No wait. Can sit and be waited on. The waitress that served us was very nice. They have more than just pizza. Good Bread (garlic, garlic cheese, regular). Significant other thinks not enough cheese on the cheesey bread. I disagree. So many Italian comfort options and plenty of pastas to choose from. Entrees come with soup or salad (lentil soup is meh. Salad is just regular salad with ranch or Italian dressing). Free refills on drinks. Wouldn't say this is Vegan friendly, but some veggie options for you vegitarians. They have a TV that plays sports. Usually music playing in background. Not romantic. Family friendly. A must have if your looking for a good quality pizza. I happened to be in the area and my friend told me about this pizza place. He works there and highly recommends it. I had to give it a try. I had the pepperoni pizza slice. Not only was the portion huge it was actually really good. Definitely better than what I'm used to at Costco. The pepperoni was at a mild spiciness. It was really rich with cheese, just how I like it. My FAVORITE part had to be the crust. I usually don't eat the crust at any pizza place but the playful crisp of the crust here was awesome. It also had a wonderful chewiness to it as well. Being a pizza place, it's obvious you have to try the pizza. I recommend it. It's good for what it is. I'm not a big fan of dark, drab places. It's tiny. Just not my style. The veggie lentil soup was good! They could have had more veggies and lentils in it... Pizza was delicious. I recommend the larger size if you're getting a slice because it's thin crust (which I love). Next time I'd do take-out. read more

It looks like this is the friendly neighborhood pizza place! I saw a little ad/coupons for Pizza D'oro on the back of the Pennysaver, so that put it on my radar. We were going to visit another restaurant this afternoon, but didn't realize it would close early on Sundays. Plan B: Pizza! (Plan B is ALWAYS pizza. (Not the emergency contraceptive. Please don't use pizza as that.)) Anyway. We got to the restaurant. I realize that by checking in on the yelp app, I get a free drink. What. Free? For FREE? Score. So we ordered a pizza to-go and sat down with our drink. It's tastier than most average fountain sodas, because it was for free. We waited for the pizza. I have no idea how long pizzas take to make, but after about 15 minutes I was kind of starving. Soon, a pizza employee offered to refill our drink, and that seemed really nice. He wasn't the one who took our order, so he didn't necessarily know we got the drink for free, but it's still technically a to-go drink and therefore not implied to be refillable. The same guy then asked what we're waiting for, went into the back, and reappeared with the pizza. Pretty sure he's the pizza fairy. (He offered to top off our drink one more time before we left, too.) After settling down at home with the newly-acquired pizza, we ate the pizza. It was a good pizza. We only got a cheese, so I can't attest to their toppings yet. There's a bit more crust than the typical pizza, but I like crust. I didn't used to. I wouldn't eat any of the pizza crusts as a child. But I've learned to love them. It's good for you. The dough is a nice texture, too. Al dente, but not disgustingly chewy or anything. I would eat this pizza again. In fact, I will very soon because I have a couple slices left over for breakfast tomorrow (if my roommate behaves). To some of these other reviews... haters gonna hate. If you want a Michelin-star pizzeria, go somewhere fancy. But this is a solid pizza joint, especially in a region rife with less-than-wealthy college kids. I have gone a few times for take out and to eat in - I really like the gnocchi. Unfortunately, every time I ask for the salad with no pepperoni. And every time, the salad contains a pepperoni. This might seem a small complaint, but when it happens every time, it makes me wonder what other requests they would be unable to fulfill. My friends and I went in and Ordered small pizza's and the meatballs and ravioli on 1/4/20 around 7pm. We asked if it was thin pizza and he said it was hand rolled and the edges were thick but not the inside. Our Pizza's , was huge, took first piece out, inside 5 inches were absolutely wet, only the outside 2 inches were baked like pizza ..very little cheese and pepperoni/mushrooms/bell peppers were not crisp or cooked, still almost raw. My friend's onion and sausage also really wet, the meatballsl was huge but totally dry and burned, so much sauce she couldn't make out the ravioli's. Complained to the waiter, he said vegetable pizza always is wetter. As I was paying him, I again told him it was just horrid pizza and soggy wet. Again he said it was the vegetables that caused it to be wet. Really a horrid experience and would not recommend this place ever. read more

I have been going to Pizza D'Oro for almost 10 years. This one and the Huntington Beach location. I understand there seperate so I won't compare the 2. One of the best deals is the giant slice with a salad and for me getting the salad is just as good as the pizza there's something about there house dressing and cheese and pepperoni on the salad that makes it very enjoyable. Well today I ordered the usual and to my very sad realization it looks like they cut the cheese and pepperoni from the salad and added olives...very sad to see my favorite pizza lunch dinner place to begin cutting cost. I would have just preferred a price increase since it's already a great price then just a overall switch out in the salad.
