Definitely would not go back been passing this place for a while tonight finally gave it a try. The menu looks kinda professional but then you look at the barely readable prices. Guess they change them frequently since prices don't seem set. Did a half and half which turned out to be 3/4 than 2slices 1/4. I know it's not a hard task to do a half/half with just 2toppings on each side. The sauce they use no flavor really bland unless that's a flavor. They did have some fusion pizza and more pasta, and sandwiches not sure how those would be but doubt they better than the pizza. Supposedly it's a organic pizza place not sure if that's true or false advertising. Don't think this place will last they never seem busy sure they on the edge of getting closed. read more

We may have had the best cheese pizza just before they closed on a Sunday night a few months back. One of the best pizzas I've ever had in Austin. For me there are 2 kinds of pizzas: the ordinary cheap doll and the more elaborated and tasty one. Mr. Reginaldo is a hell of a professional Italian chef and his talent and experience on making pasta and pizza makes the difference. I definitely recommend it. The price is reasonable and the location is pretty convenient in the Arboretum. He's most times in the front of his business and will give you a feel good tips on Italian food. His ingredients are very well selected and organic therefore healthier. He also delivers in a quite wide range which is even more convenient and most important, high level of hygiene is his primary goal. read more

Staff was very friendly. Food is cooked fresh after you order. Wait time from order to oven was about 15 mins. Ordered the chicken bacon cheese rolls and these were delish. Order the double double which is 2 med 2 topping pizzas for $23. Got a pepperoni and Italian sausage on one, and the other was chicken and mushrooms with Alfredo sauce. Both were very tasty and cooked just right. My only complaint is, the pizzas are a little smaller then a med size pizza from say, Pizza Hut. So, price wise, you don't get a whole lot for the buck but it's still worth it because, in the end, what matters is, the taste and quality of the food and it was great. Def will be back soon! We were on our way to the movies and decided to get a late night pizza. We stopped into Promise pizza in the Great Hills area of Austin. This is their second location in as many years in the Austin area. When we pulled up we were quickly bummed out that there was no tables to eat inside, it's only a carry out and delivery spot. Once we walked in we were greeted nicely by a nice guy that answered our questions the best he could. We were a bit overwhelmed by the choices of the pizza. Where to start, it's like a fucking subway, pick your bread, pick your style, pick your sauce, pick your cheese and pick your toppings. Some would love the options but we are old school, just give us a pepperoni pizza on normal crust, normal style, yes gluten, yes cheese, yes normal red sauce. They had a couple of patio tables and chairs outside for us to wait and relax for our crazy pizza. When I get a pizza I just like an ice cold coke with it but you better bring your own if you're the same because they only offer Blue Sky Soda and Honest Tea. I am not going to knock them though, if you're going to go the 'organic' route, than do it fully...and they do. Our expectations were not high as we watched the kid sheet the dough then run the pizza through a conveyor oven, another Austin pizza place taking the easy road out. When the pizza came out, we had a couple of questions that the kid could not answer, so he got the owner out for us. We were really pleased that the owner took the time to come out and talk with us and even show us some of the ingredients. Nothing to hide, again have to respect that. Onto the pizza, it was baked about as nicely as you can out of a conveyor, the sauce is a little on the sweeter side (which I prefer), the cheese was a nice provolone and mozzarella blend which we found out is some of the most expensive cheese you can buy for a pizza. Surprisingly the crust (we chose the white over the whole wheat on this day) actually had a crust even after being sheeted. Overall the pizza flavor flowed nicely, it's a good pizza and if you're a health or organic nut then you should be in heaven. They are one of the places in Austin tackling the gluten-free pizza and they even sell a gluten-free brownie too. The menu was loaded with really healthy sounding salads, a great selection of calzones, and some awesome looking cinnamon knots among other dessert choices. I can't tell you how awesome I think it is that there is a pizza place where people can be organic or gluten-free crust and other toppings where conscientious choices have been made about the QUALITY of the tomatoes and other ingredients AND makes it taste great! Yes, it costs a little more than pizza with GMO flour and the like, but it is WORTH the extra money. Kudos to the chef! I feel the same way about Promise Pizza as I do about eating grass-fed organic beef and organic chicken. Yes, it costs a lot more. And no, I cannot afford to eat it as often. But I can at least feel good about supporting a business that is doing its best to support my health even when I am eating what may be one of the most unhealthy fave food choices. Making the huge mistake (for me) of moving North has been challenging. There are a couple of places though that make my sentence here (lease term) tolerable and sometimes even enjoyable. Promise is one of those places. I really, really enjoy pizza. Formerly living just a few blocks from Rounders I had a weekly habit. After suffering one painful delivery experience after another up here, I was very happy when I discovered Promise. I have sampled almost everything on their menu and nothing has disappointed. Every single time the food is good. The best thing is that I can tell they use fresh ingredients because I don't have the food hangover the next day. The 2nd best thing is I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the option for Individual pizzas. Ohhh how I wish other establishments would take note of that. I just enjoyed some Promise Pizza delivered to my door, so I thought I would take a minute to show them some love on yelp. Promise Pizza's gluten-free crust blows Austin Pizza's out of the water. It's no contest. Promise Pizza's gluten-free crust is crispy and buttery. It tastes so good you forget you have a "special" crust. Meanwhile, the cheese was thick and stringy and wonderful, the basil was abundant and delicious, the sauce was just right. I'll also give props to the side salad I ordered with it -- this was no typical "bowl of lettuce with 1/4 of a tomato", it had grilled chicken strips, carrots, onions... Yum. My husband and I have been kicking around the idea of moving south, but the fact that there's no Promise Pizza there is a mark in the "con" column of that idea. ETA: I've been informed that Austin Pizza and Promise Pizza actually use the same vendor for their gluten-free crust. In that case, Promise Pizza must be baking it up better, because I swear it tastes like a completely different (AMAZING) crust! :-) read more

They have regular pizza at Promise, but I can't tell you how it is because I can't eat it. I can tell you that if you must eat gluten-free or vegan or organic tho', Promise gets 'er done. And now, a truly amazing litany of great ideas for your pizza place: Promise's menu is pretty darn extensive with teh toppings, and they have 3 sauce choices, a red, a garlic and oil, and a BBQ sauce. You can have dairy-based cheese, or Daiya, which is vegan. They also serve a large variety of salad, bread, and dessert items, many of which are gluten free, including sorbets (although the sorbet case at this one looked like it needed the temp cranked down a few notches). They've got a bunch of Honest Teas and Blue Sky sodas in their cold case. Promise delivers by Smart Car, you can order the pizza online, they use "the most energy efficient ovens on the planet, constructed their facility to Austin Green Building specs and purchase 100% renewable power for their facility." Our pizza guy who constructed our pizzas was both very knowledgeable and friendly . So how could I, a guy who can't eat a whole bunch of things, possibly give this place only 3 stars? Yeah, the stuff is organic and/or gluten-free, so it's more expensive (particularly the gluten-free). Hard to argue about that, tho. I guess my problem is, it's tough to make a mass-production-like, fresh gluten free vegan pizza with 'cheese' on it that is really really good. I found Promise's gluten-free crust to be ok, but extraordinarily thin even for gluten-free. I've had a similar product with no cheese from Brick Oven, which was a few notches better and they are not organic. I've also had a d.i.y gluten-free cheese free pizza at home that was better than both of them (can't remember where I got that crust from, tho.) But I totally salute the hell out of Promise and anyone else who goes to this much effort to make their place of business that good for the world, even if it's not as good as it could be (yet?). Daiya is also impressive as a vegan cheese substitute, as well, being the first one I've eaten that didn't make me feel kinda bleh afterwards. I think if Promise reformulated their sauce a bit (I prefer mine a bit spicier and thicker), and bulked up the gluten free crust a bit more, I'd tell all my gluten-free friends to hit it. p.s this is not the one way up in the tundra of Round Rock! I didn't expect my spaghetti to taste as good as my mother's homecooked spaghetti, but I did expect it to not taste exactly like the TV dinner spaghetti I had a week ago. The meat was disgusting, the noodles were bland, the sauce was gross, just honestly one of the worst spaghetti dishes I've ever had. Also bought a simple cheese pizza. Taste was fairly decent, though would definitely be better without the bottom crust being black.. I feel like I was eating smoked cheese! Garlic bread wasn't the worst thing I've ever tasted, but it would help if you actually put garlic on the garlic bread. It was nice and soft though, could use some butter, which I added on. Lastly, the oh-so-famous New York cheesecake- "Best in the world".. It tasted like the lemon scented wooden floor cleaner. ABSOLUTELY disgusting. I could go to Chili's and get a better cheesecake, hell even the cheesecake we get for Christmas every year is better than this.. after reading the, 1 star reviews I had to write my review after eating takeout pizza last night. First off, I am allergic to cheese and tomato heavy sauce, my wife is a vegetarian so that makes eating pizza kinda hard for us ;). I walked in to order some pizzas last night and explained my allergies, usually most places listen and try their best to accommodate. The guys behind the counter explained that they had vegan cheese and it was made up of only veggie products, *great!* for me and my wife. I also explained about the heavy tomato sauce, and asked to go light on it. On their menu, they also have wheat crust so we went with that. The pizza was awesome! the crust is very doughy, which is what we like, if your not a fan of that, then there are plenty of other pizza places in town for you. The crust had some herbs in it, which tasted awesome! I had a custom pizza with vegan cheese, light tomato sauce, Canadian bacon, mushrooms and green peppers. I placed an order online, the estimated time of delivery was roughly 40 minutes. An hour pass by, and still nothing. I called the restaurant and they said it hasn't been prepared yet (???) but they will have it delivered as soon as they can. After reading some of the negative reviews here, I decided to post a review of Promise Pizza. My husband and I ordered our first pizza from them recently (we had it delivered from the 183 location), and we were really impressed. We try to eat organic whenever possible, so knowing that all of the veggies and most of the crust ingredients are organic, plus the meats are all natural (no antibiotics or growth hormones) was great. We ordered a large thin wheat crust pizza with their organic tomato sauce, Italian sausage (made from chicken), red onions, bell peppers and mushrooms. It was fantastic, and reasonably priced especially considering how much more expensive organic ingredients are. The large size was not as big as other large pizzas we've had, but I can understand that because their organic ingredients are a lot more expensive. The crust was indeed thin, and very crispy, which we like. Can't stand doughy crust, and I don't understand the comments from some reviewers that their crust was doughy. Ours was not at all. We added our own extra Italian spices at home -- dried basil, oregano and thyme, which we always do when we order pizza -- try it folks, it adds a lot to a pizza! With an arugula salad we made at home (organic arugula, toasted hazlenuts and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano cheese -- oh my, so good), it was a filling meal. Loved that it was delivered in a super fuel efficient SmartCar. This is our new pizza place! And just in time, because a local pizza place in our neighborhood that we used to order pizza from (which will remain unnamed) has lost our business because the last two pizzas we ordered had almost no ingredients on them. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite. Note that there are almost no places nearby that sell pizza by the slice. Being from New York, I found this quite strange and did not want to order a full pie for myself. The owner in this wonderful place is from New York!! He has these special 8" personal pizzas that are equivalent of 2 slices. I got the veggie pizza with pesto sauce, and it was organic! The crust was thin, everything was perfectly baked and you could taste the freshness of ingredients. Would highly recommend this place for regulars to the shops nearby! read more

I stopped by for lunch today and got a slice of cheese pizza and a Blue Sky root beer from the quick slice combo. The slice was a good size and tasted great. The dough was not thin crust but not too thick either and was a great blend between chewy and crispy. It also had cheese and herbs on the crust so don't just leave it on the plate. The sauce had a slightly sweet taste, which was fine with me and the cheese had a nice taste and texture. I think it is great that they use fresh organic ingredients as well as offer gluten free crust and dairy free cheese. I know this will be great for a lot of people. I look forward to trying more of their menu and encourage anyone who likes good pizza to give them a shot. read more

This is such good pizza! They make really nice salads, the beignets are VEGAN even, and the quality of the ingredients is really special. I'm vegan, and my husband is not, and we both get just what we want from Promise Pizza - great pizza with wonderful crust and sauce and toppings - with nice salads and desserts that make us smile. Promise also had weekly specials, and I get those by email - so that is really nice. And, they have a good delivery area for when we're feeling lazy. There are two kinds of pizza in my world: crafted/artisan pizza (everything hand made, cooked fast and hot with a real coal-fired oven) and standard pizza. Either kind can be plenty tasty, but they are completely different styles of the same thing. Promise Pizza is the "standard" pizza style, like most of the joints in town, so this review is for that kind of place. I have ordered from them about ten times now, and the quality is always excellent (again, for "standard style" pizza). All organic, several crust options, fresh ingredients, speedy delivery, friendly service, fair prices, and despite the semi-corporate look of the place, it is local. Only once did my order get screwed up, but the manager was quick to correct the problem and gave me the order for free. Great service goes a long way in my book! The cons? They are quite few, but if I had to nit-pick anything it would be that the basil they use appears to be dried instead of fresh, and I wish they were open later (then again, I wish every place was open later). Going up against Austin's Pizza, Gatti's, or any other "standard pizza" joint like that, Promise Pizza absolutely blows them all away. read more

My husband is vegan. Yesterday he called in an order for a 12-in Nature's Choice with vegan cheese and I picked it up after a trip to the grocery store. Apparently the person who took his order didn't ask for his name, so I went in and said, "I'm picking up a Nature's Choice with vegan cheese." How common can that be? The guy I spoke to gave me a price, looked in the warmer, then came back and said, "A 14-inch with pineapple?" I repeated my husband's order. He asked if it was a 12-inch or a 14-inch. I called my husband, starting to get irritated. Once I told him it was 12-inch, he found it immediately. I didn't think it should be that complicated. It was over sixteen bucks for my husband's 12-inch pizza, but whatever, vegan pizza options are limited. So onto the food. I am not a fan of Daiya vegan cheese, but if it's going to be on a pizza shouldn't it be melted? It wasn't. Five minutes later when I arrived home, we discovered the pizza was cold. My husband stuck it in the oven and ten minutes later the Daiya melted. For the confusion and delay in picking up the pizza, the high price for a small portion and the lackluster quality, I can't even give this two stars. I hope the cashier I dealt with is not representative of their staff because he was absolutely awful. read more
