"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream"...so the saying goes. I decided to meet a friend that lives downtown Austin for some ice cream at the The Baked Bear, a frequent hang out spot for her and my first visit. The Baked Bear is located in the Seaholm complex between Cesar Chavez and 3rd Streets near West Avenue. After a couple of samples, I decided on Blackberry Crumble. Our server was so sweet and kind including suggesting some of the shop's favorites. OMG the ice cream was so smooth...so flavorful...so absolutely delicious to eat. Interestingly, the ice cream was reasonably priced. It was great cooling off and enjoying catching up with my friend.

Our family loves pizza and we're always on the lookout for new pies. We don't mind paying a little more for a superior product and willing to pay extra for amazing service as well. We realize that you typically get what you pay for. We went to their store last weekend and ordered take out, thinking it would be faster than ordering for delivery. Methinks not! Our wait was extremely long nevertheless. On to reviewing the pizza: We ordered two different kinds of pizzas. One for us and one for the kids. The kids was a plain pepperoni pizza on regular white crust. We ordered a thin wheat crust with various veggie and meat toppings. The kids are never picky eaters and like pretty much all kinds of pizzas. Promise Pizza, however, did not deliver in making the kids enjoy their dinner. After a couple of bites, it was clear that they were not going to finish their slice. Their complaints were: to much sauce, not enough cheese, too sweet, and the crust was too hard to chew. For my wife and I, the complaints were similar. Although we did enjoy the taste of the fresh veggie toppings, they were pretty cheap on the quantity of toppings and failed to deliver on cheese as well. The thin crust was hardly thin at all/ Actually, their thin crust would be considered regular crusts in many restaurants. There just wasn't much of a difference between the regular and the thin crust at all. Conclusion is that we will not return to Promise Pizza. We are not fans. read more

We recently ordered a cauliflower pizza from what I believe is a ghost kitchen affiliated with Pizza Day. Let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic! I've had similar cauliflower crusts in the past, so I assume they come from the same manufacturer. Not only does this pizza taste amazing, but the crust is also keto-friendly. While I understand that not everyone is concerned about low-carb options, for individuals who need to follow a low-carb diet, such as diabetics and epileptics, these crusts are a true blessing. I truly appreciate it when restaurants consider people like us and I make a conscious effort to order from them as often as possible to show my support. Personally, I would be thrilled to see this crust added to Pizza Day's official menu. I highly recommend trying out Pizza Day for yourself! read more

I was visiting Austin from the northern Midwest. Promise pizza, nonchalantly nestled adjacent to Jason's Deli and Sprout, is an unassuming diamond in the rough. I thoroughly enjoyed the Hawaiian calzone with whole wheat dough. The flavors were exquisite. Chef Bertosi is brave enough to allow his ingredients to shine without the false pretenses of needless additives. House-blended cheese, Canadian bacon, pineapple, basil, house made whole wheat dough, and homemade tomato sauce. Fantastic. I have visited many places (Rome, Naples, New York City, and Boston) known for food and Promise is easily some of the best food I have ever eaten. We picked up a restaurant.com certificate and ordered 60.00 worth of pizza, when presenting the coupon for 25.00 off she was abrasive and told us we needed to tell her prior. We had no idea on that. AND from what we now know, when she does get told prior she jacks the price of each pizza up by 5.00. Needless to say, she kept her crappy pizzas. I am used to eat healthy food, and Promise Pizza is the best place for that. The owner has been very attentive and willing to make everything I need. The many options is fresh and healthy, I have tried the gluten free options, it is unbelievable how delicious the taste is. The owner and his family are adorable and they make gluten free garlic knots and calzone when I ask and I know these are not part of the menu in gluten free crust. I'm from NYC and I've enjoyed great pizzas here and in Italy but I recently had some Spectacular pizzas at this location for a full week during a business trip to Austin. I was driving by and decided to check it out, I was very impressed by the quality of the ingredients and taste. The pizzas are delicious. If you are a spicy food lover, you should try spicy paneer and spicy chicken here. Also heard that all Fusion pizzas are excellent. Pizza has never been my favorite food, but now I am craving for spicy paneer @Pizza Day at least once a week. I like the thin crust and fresh organic ingredients. The flavors are just right, and you can taste the freshly chopped ginger and cilantro in this dish. These are awesome and much healthier than any typical pizzas. Talked to them once - and they replaced the pizza. But they did not fix the underlying issue. I don't understand the hurry is- it's not like they have a huge line of customers. The pizza was OK - very thin and kind of NY style so you have to fold it up. Just i think the crust just needed something extra and the toppings needs more flavor. We hosted our son's first birthday party here this weekend, and while we originally reserved space for a much smaller group, our guest list quickly grew to more than 60 people. The Aviator team handled it so graciously and made everyone feel welcome without missing a beat. They were incredibly accommodating from start to finish, allowing us to bring in decorations, balloons, and our cake and cupcakes to make the space our own. The staff was absolutely fantastic. Every single person was friendly, helpful, and attentive, making sure both we and our guests had everything we needed. They even let us hand out drink tickets so we could keep our bar tab within budget, which was such a thoughtful touch and made planning so much easier. The food, as always, was a huge hit. We had countless people comment on how good the pizza was, and the space couldn't have been more perfect for our Top Gun-themed party. We had lots of little ones celebrating with us, and the outdoor playground kept them entertained for hours while the adults enjoyed the great beer selection and watched the World Cup match on the TVs. It really was the perfect setup for guests of all ages. We can't thank the Aviator team enough for helping make such a special day so easy and stress-free. We'll absolutely continue coming back as regular customers, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Aviator to anyone looking for a fun, relaxed place to host a gathering or celebration. I personally have never seen that offered anywhere so that's how I chose it. I really appreciate they had 2 vegetarian options for calzones. I tried the spinach feta. It was really good. Ratio of dough to filling was just right. Feta can have strong flavor but again they got ratio right to where it wasn't overpowering yay. The crust has light garlic flavor, I actually like garlic so next time would likely add roasted garlic as a topping for inside to give it an extra boost of flavor. Lots of indoor and outside seating. We went on a Saturday evening and it was buzzing. Indoors was loud so we sat outside. There is playscape for kiddos, can see why it's popular for families. Definitely saw wide demographic here so it's nice neighborhood type of pizza joint. One improvement I might suggest is serving the red sauce dip warm.

I found there was plenty of seating for the size of this establishment and it's arrangement had me feelin no kinda way... What an odd thing to complain about... anywho, very good, wasn't overpriced, and fresh. I found them by accident when my pup was having surgery in that area. Wish I lived closer...thank you!
