When I added a soda, he saved me some money by making it a combo. The place is clean, pick up and delivery only, I saw no chairs or tables. But it was dark and rainy. In person Anthony was very cordial. Inquiring about my day and sympathizing with my long drive ahead. He made a great pie. Lots of ham and pineapple, generous sauce, plenty of cheese. Delicious! I recently ordered delivery for a work party. I had called an hour prior to confirm delivery time and date because I had not received a confirmation email. I spoke with Tom over the phone and he provided excellent customer service. Tom confirmed time and address for me. My delivery driver guy was San. He was awesome. San called minutes before arriving so that I could meet him at the entrance as that is what I requested in the notes. San was very nice upon delivery. The pizza was great! Hot and good. They sent out a pizza with spoiled lettuce on it (see picture). It's not just ugly and wilted lettuce -- you can taste and smell that it expired. I guess I should be grateful that even though I ordered extra lettuce, I didn't receive it, much like the two other toppings that are supposed to be on the pizza but aren't. And, once again, they didn't send sauce with the appetizer. With this place, it's a 1/10 chance that you'll get the sauce with your appetizer. I get coupons in the mail from them all the time, and decided to give them a try on a week when I didn't have much left in my fridge but didn't really want to go grocery shopping - so I ordered some pizza instead! First off, their online ordering system is super easy. You can schedule your order in advance or pick it up immediately. I've ordered for immediate pick up twice and had my pizzas finished even earlier than the quoted time. Talk about good service! This location has a variety of cool flavors - curry pizza, beef taco pizza, chipotle chicken pizza, etc. The chipotle chicken pizza and serrano chili pizza were both awesome, delivering a combination of spiciness and crunch that I would definitely order again. I had no idea they were doing this, but I was also offered a free ice cream item or two liter with each order I made. An added bonus! Staff was super nice, my pizza was ready on time, and it felt great getting a little extra to be home. Talk about above and beyond. The pizza is great warm and just as good cold, and a large can last an adult a couple days, if you can fight back the urge to eat it all at once. Here's an example: This past Friday, we order from their web app (finally working again after being borked for 2 years). Delivery estimate is 45 minutes. No problem. We get email confirmation 5 mins after order. Delivery is now 2 hours out. Well, that's no good, as we're leaving the kids at home and instructed them not to open the door for anyone. We try calling to make it a pickup instead of delivery. On hold for 17 minutes. While my wife is on hold, i call the same number. Someone picks up right away. I tell them what's up. They say "oops, it already went out for delivery" - but their online tool says it just starting baking. We tell them that. They say "oh ... huh ... that's weird." and go quiet for a few seconds, ostensibly checking out that the pizzas are, indeed, in the oven. They are. They come back on and say sure, you can pick them up. I ask them why my wife is still on hold, they say "huh?" and then suddenly her call disconnects. I go in to pick up the pizzas. Woman at front counter pretends she has no idea what I'm talking about. Brings out pizza, everything is good, who knows what happened to the other guy. Moral of the story: don't do delivery. Don't try to change things. Don't call them. Just order, pick up, and enjoy the pizza ... :/ read more

I've had two mediocre experiences with Pizza Guys over the years. Neither was particularly offensive, but both reminded me that there are many other pizza options out there that I find better. It all comes down to the pizza and the service. On my latest visit I ordered a pizza that was slightly doughy and undercooked. If I had been eating it in shop I probably would have requested they throw it back in the oven. The flavors were there but the product was just not that great. This comes after a previous visit some years back where they gave me the wrong order completely, even though they were apologetic. I like Pizza Guys pizza in general and I have enjoyed other locations, so I will give this one another try down the line. read more

The dough was very uncooked an looked like just water and flour were mixed and lightly heated. All the toppings were uncooked including mushrooms, onions and bell peppers. The only cooked item was olives which was coming out of a can! I think the owners want to save for energy bill so they make the pizzas uncooked. There is a female manager at the Elk Grove Florin Rd. location, who is very good at customer service. She sees the bottom line and does what is fair for the business and the customer. Her name I think may be Adora and I've always had a good experience with her and the male managers too. There is always a friendly person on the line when I call in and helpful. The food is made very well and to specifications. The drivers are very friendly too. There isn't a lot of establishments that still have the Elk Grove high level standard of customer service. When they were a little late, i called and was told the driver dropped the pizza and had to go back to the restaurant and remake the pizza. I ordered a cheeseburger pizza with bbq sauce on top and extra mozzarella, plus some cheesy bread, from the website. The cheeseburger pizza tastes almost exactly like an in n out burger, which is great, but not sure I'd order it again (because it was really more in n out burger than pizza). I'm also a snob because I had an amazing cheeseburger pizza in San Diego that blew novelty pizzas out of the water (that was more pizza than burger, unlike this one, and it balanced the sweet of the onions and the savory of meat and cheese perfectly - also their crust was excellent). (The cheesy bread at that other place was also phenomenal.) The cheesy bread was lackluster. Not enough cheese (also not sure if the creamy garlic is baked into it, but it did not come with a creamy garlic dip :C). I feel like it should be gooey with cheese, but it was more like lightly cheese'd cardboard bread. Would not order again. As a client who spends our hard-earned dollars here to support the local businesses, I am extremely disappointed with the team and management of this franchise. I came in to pick up a group order and did not mind the extra wait for the food. I understand that any big order is going to require time to prepare the order. Upon receiving our food, I asked if we can get a side of ranch. I mean who doesn't enjoy a side of ranch with their pizzas? I was informed by the associate that unless we placed it on the order we can not get a single side of ranch. As a business most impacted by the pandemic, the least you can do is cater to your customers to ensure we are happy and continue to bring our business back here. My face was melting because they didn't have some of the options I needed, they didn't even have 2 liter soda. Then I called Mountain Mike's Pizza on S. I called four times because they put me on hold every time and made me wait more than eight minutes each time I called. Fourth time I finally said never mind. Mountain Mike's, please staff your restaurant with more than two people , and not high school kids that don't care about their job. I finally called Pizza Guys on J St. Winner, winner! Jimmy answered the phone was knowledgeable, he was nice, great customer service, and my order ended up being about $10 less than at either of the other two places if I had actually ordered. They have a steal of a deal online order right now for a large, 2 topping pizza for 10 bucks. It's perfect for my partner and I who are always on the go and never know when we'll be able to eat a meal together at our apartment. The 38th and J location is always well staffed (and they're all very nice), clean and easy to find. Unfortunately, the tricky part is parking. [I'd tried my old roomates before, but that was the extent of it] But when I have to buy pizza for Girls Night, consisting of 15 women and kids, I go the cheaper route for everyone. I think my pizza standards are ridiculously high, because I can't seem to find a pizza place that even compares to pieces in Midtown. A couple of the more bougie restaurants have some pretty decent pies, but nobody beats pieces. Aside from Domino's and round table, they are the only ones that will deliver to my house. Just mediocre, nothing special.
