This place exceeded my expectations. Strip mall pizza in West Sac? Sure, let's give it a try. I was hosting a pre-meeting meeting with a few colleagues and tossed out a few options near the main meeting location. We collectively agreed on this place and I'm so glad we did! It is a fairly large, light-filled dining room and it was super clean. We arrived just after opening and didn't have any wait. Just walked up to the counter to place our orders and were greeted with very friendly and helpful service with a smile. We customized our personal pizzas and even our side salads. Nice selection of bottled beverages (including beer and wine! but alas, it was a working lunch...) in addition to fountain soda options. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! After what I witnessed, I will never come back. While I was eating my pizza, I overheard (both raising voices) the manager arguing with an employee about serving a pizza to a customer that had already been given to someone else. Hearing MANAGEMENT say that this was "okay" was absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable. I was shocked and almost did not believe what I was hearing. Walked out tonight before we ordered. The guy making pizza was also ringing people up. Brought my guy in for his first EVER visit to try MOD Pizza. I ordered first so he could see how it works. For me: the 11" crust with pesto + white sauces, minced garlic, black olives, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, red onions, roasted garlic cloves and arugula. For him: red sauce, pineapple, pepperoni, crumbled beef, bacon, red onion, and minced garlic. Did we also get a couple "No Name Chocolate cakes?" Absolutely! To top it all off I got the caramel pear iced tea - SO good. Our pizzas took about 10 minutes to bake, but it was worth the wait. Since we usually prefer drastically different pizza toppings, MOD is a great place to go where we can both fulfill our pizza cravings. Popped in here after ordering on the app while my other 2 were shopping in Target for more xmas outdoor lights. The DD app did not have an extra page after continue button and I did not get the 25% code entered yet. So I used chat while in Target and got the rep to give me a credit of just over $6 for the missing code. But when I got to MOD, they did not make the order yet when I inquired on my order. No probs as rhey had no idea if it would be cancelled or not. So I waited about 15-20 minutes. The gal who helped me was nice and explained why it wasn't ready which I told her not to worry one bit. Good and friendly service. After eating our pizzas at home I must say that even at 11" big, they seemed smaller than I get at W. Sac location. I did get less toppings by a touch but that wasn't it. Build your own pizza gets me in here! I go for the cauliflower crust and have them load on the meat and veggies. It's all the same price no matter how many toppings, but you pay different prices for the crust; reg, mega, cauliflower or gluten-free. They have this peach tea that I love also! How can you beat somewhere where you can create your own style of pizza and not be charged crazy prices for multiple toppings. I got a super mod pizza; not thin crust, with a wide variety of toppings (pepperoni, salami, bacon, garlic, mushroom, green bell pepper, black olives, and artichoke hearts). On this particular trip, my wife and I drove deep into the parking lot of a local hardware store to of course fetch our festive indoor bush that becomes available every December. Pizza lives rent free in my mind so we walked over around dinner time on a Friday night. With safety precautions in place, We felt comfortable inside building up our pizza. I went with the mega dough thick crust option, I got the standard red sauce and mixed it with Pesto. Pepperoni, sausage, bacon for meat. Mozzarella, parmesan and gorgonzola for cheese. Artichoke, corn, mushrooms and olives for veggies. Topped off with another spritz of Pesto and I was off with my very own personalized pizza built by the awesome MOD staff. The mega dough is great. If you're a crust person, go for it. not too heavy but a good amount of dough to please the crust gods. Flavors overall are solid. I do believe corn belongs on pizza. I don't know if that's even a debate but if it is. Corn belongs on pizza. As mentioned, Staff was awesome. Everyone was masked up, friendly and working as a team. We were in and out in about 10min. I am a fan! Used to go the Woodland location a lot when I worked there, and have been to this West Sac location a handful of times since work moved in February 2020. I like that they have curbside, inside pick-up, and patio dining options. There is social distancing enforced, staff wears masks and gloves, hand sanitizer provided. I usually order ahead online (rewards points) and they have a separate line just for online order pickups. Sometimes I come in for the seasonal/rotating Flash MOD pizza flavors, other times I do build your own customizable pizzas, standard MOD size always. If I'm really hungry I can finish it all in one sitting, other times take leftovers to go. I also like their non soda fountain drink options (flavored iced teas and lemonades), as well as their craft soda bottle choices. Most recent visit I tried their new wintry Flash MOD pizza, the "Bella," which had wild mushroom pesto, spinach, mozzarella, mild sausage, mushrooms, & rosemary. Placed the order for ASAP around noonish and it was to be ready in ~15 minutes. I went to pick it up and it literally came out of the oven not too long after I sat down after checking in with the online order line. Verdict: yum! The parking lot can be tight since it's shared with the Hawaiian Poke place, Chipotle, and IHOP so choose curbside if you dare. I got half way through eating when something poked the inside of my cheek and almost cracked a tooth. I immidiately spit out and found a hard metal wire? Didn't trust to eat the rest after that. Dear Manager, I hope this makes it to your desk. I tried ordering 2 pizzas on a Thursday afternoon. Your website shows that your location is unable to take orders online (attached image). No worries, my wife simply called to phone in the order. Explain why your employees told her that they "cannot take orders over the phone, that they are too slammed to help, and that she should try again later? " I find it hard to believe your workers are slammed if potential customers can't place orders online or via phone. Based on some of the other reviews, this isn't a one-off situation. I have a better idea. Instead, I'll just try again never and stick to Marco's or any other chain. read more

First time at this MOD Pizza location and it was great! This MOD location is in the West Sacramento shopping plaza across from Walmart and near IKEA. I came during weekday lunch and ordered a regular MOD pizza w/ customizable toppings. The workers were great with adding toppings...if I wanted more or less of any topping, they didn't hesitate, and made my pizza exactly how I asked. The pizza did take a little while to bake, but probably because I added lots of toppings. Once ready, I got a side of pesto and ranch dipping sauce. Upon first bite, the pizza was really tasty! I loved all the toppings plus dipping the bread in the pesto sauce. Customer service was great! Workers were polite and the manager even came around when we were eating and checked if we were satisfied with everything! We were about to go to Ikea, so I needed to get in a beer first. Yum. Local beer - I forget what it was but light beer. Easy to drink and nice and cold. Pizza crust was thin and crispy and held up even with all my toppings. Ate 2 slices and was full. But was good cold later for a snack and reheated for an even later snack. Writing an update to say that went back there for dinner tonight, and the pizza was much better than last time. The restaurant itself is quite nice in terms of ambiance, and they have tons of pizza topping options. Blaze is still the best build-your-own pizza around, but MOD Pizza is second best! Delicious pizza, unique toppings, good thin crust, and very nice staff. Been to various MOD locations across Ca and the pizza is always fine. Today my wife and I had lunch at this location and the service was fantastic. The young man who made our pizza (I never got his name) was so attentive and nice. We ate right around noon and he called me "my dude" which was very endearing. While standing in line to order our food, we watch the girl behind the counter with the long braids, lean over the food, and her hair would go down into the food. This is 8/22/24 at 6:30. And as we said something she got defensive. We asked to speak to the manager. She pointed over to a young man running the register. As we waited to talk to him she ran over and told him we were trying to say. Her hair was going into the food. She said it wasn't. My partner I said. We're not trying to be mean. We both stood there and watched her hair go into the food every time she leaned over. She got very confrontational. The young man working the register had to calm her down. I will be calling the store tomorrow to speak to the store manager. It was totally uncalled for. She could have easily tied her hair up so it didn't go into the food. read more

This is based on my experiences twice within a week. I have not been to this location due to having a pizza restaurant by my house which is more convenient. However, I was in the area and wanted pizza for lunch. I went to this location and the service was excellent . The African American gentleman with the 49er hat was awesome and provided excellent customer service. However, my recent visit was quite the opposite. The Caucasian gentleman who is on the large size serviced me was rude. His whole demeanor was unprofessional. He yelled in a hostile way "Who's next". Then when I got to the counter ,he just threw toppings on my pizza as if I did something to him. He only gave me 4 pieces of vegetables and I had to constantly ask him for more..He would get angry and throw it down like I was an animal. I am not sure if he was having a bad day but being I was really considerate to him , this was very uncalled for.So much I had to write this review,which I normally wouldn't do. This guy needs to be in the back or not serving customers especially if he is not able to control his emotions. This reflects poorly on the establishment. I don't normally eat here but won't be back anytime soon. I would have given it one star, but the other star is for the excellent service from the Asian young lady and the African American guy with the 49er cap. I love custom pizza places! but a little picky about them. I am not a fan of Blaze which is very popular. This was formerly Wicked West Pizza. They completely remodeled and it is beautiful inside. Very hip and modern without being tacky. We came during the week at lunchtime and the line was long but we got through quickly. Every employee on the line was super friendly! What is usually a challenge at these places is the skimpy toppings. They were not. I only had to say once "could I have a little more?" I counted 9 employees and every single person had a job. It made it very efficient because I wondered how in the heck they were going to get through all these people. We ordered, ate, socialized and was out within 45 mins. Here is what is different vs. other similar: I LOVE that they have a mini 6" size vs the standard 11" which is often too much for one. You can get a small side of garlic strips for $2.75. Also a few other add-ons for not too much. You have the option to get a thick crust (for a little bit more $) which is awesome for those that don't like the thin like my husband. They also offer some different drinks in fountain area such as Carmel Peach tea! Oh and they are also a smidge cheaper than their competitors. What a nice addition to West Sac. We needed you.
