I'm not going to lie. We were trying to check out Leone's for Sunday dinner, but apparently, since they've become so popular, they decided to close down that particular Sunday to prepare for the week. Shame on them. Luckily for us, Pizza House is right around the corner. They aren't serving the New York style pizza of Leone's, but their traditional Ohio, square cut pizza looked pretty damn good based on the Yelp photos. And when I say right around the corner, I mean you can pretty much see it from Leone's. There must be some nice little friendly competition going on. This place is your typical, old school Italian spot. It reminds me a lot of Iacono's or Villa Nova, and the service is very friendly and quick. We ended up ordering salads with the house Italian dressing, cheesy garlic bread, and pepperoni and onion pizza, half of which had banana peppers. I'll say the salad itself was the classic iceberg lettuce, slice of pepperoni, and a few of your typical vegetables. The dressing was pretty oily, so it didn't have a whole lot of flavor. It's definitely nostalgic of places like this growing up, but it's not the greatest thing in the world. The garlic bread, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious. It's got a whole bunch of cheese on it and a very pungent garlic flavor. I loved it. The pizza was good as well. The crust is pretty thin and wafery, and in that aspect it reminded me of Tommy's, but it doesn't have the same small, crispy pepperonis that make Tommy's so good. It was still tasty though! The side with the banana peppers had a bit less sauce. The sauce wasn't overly flavorful. You could really taste the tomato rather than any herbs that may be in it. Overall, this is a pretty solid neighborhood choice for the people that live around here. They don't deliver, and it's a bit of a hike for me, so I'm not sure when or if I'll be back, but if you live up here, you should definitely hop on over if you haven't before. And if you find yourself at a long wait at Leone's, or if they run out of dough over there, you won't be doing yourself a disservice to check out Pizza House across the street! read more

Pizza is great quality Midwestern square cut pie. They give you the choice of traditional or old world style. Old world style is the bubbly crust so I was all for ordering that. The toppings we plentiful and everything was cooked thoroughly. We beat the Friday night dinner rush and it was starting to get really crowded as we left during the 7 o'clock hour. Service was okay. It's in an odd location where I don't go often--corner of 71N and Morse Road. The building is totally unassuming, and there isn't much character or charm... but there *is* delicious pizza! The inside looks like an old-school 80s pizzeria, and that's A-okay with me. The staff is also really friendly and helpful. Our server was also GF, and she made great recommendations. She told me how invested the owner was in finding delicious GF alternatives, and that made my heart sing to know somebody was lookin' out for people like me. Came in for some local fare pizza and this place is fantastic. Location may fool you but please go in and try it. We had the Italian Fondue as a starter and that was it. It was garlic bread but wasn't super heavy and the sauce was hot and it all worked well together. The pizza was great crust was just enough and crispy and the old world pepperoni set it off nicely. "Matty's Big 10 Pizzas of Columbus": I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to the old school pizza joints here in the capital city. The franchise chains and sell-outs (Donato's and Rotolo's) have nothing on the original family-owned and run pizza parlors that serve up our uniquely Ohio take on a true pie; thin crust, toppings to the edge, and the square "city" cut. That being said, there are very few of these classic establishments left, and even fewer that I haven't tried at least once. My quest this summer is tough work; to hit as many as possible and rate the very best. The Pizza House, just off Sinclair, is never disappointing and has and has easily earned a spot in my "Big 10" with a pizza shop that offers the best of both worlds. The Pizza House has a full dinner menu and a large comfortable dining room for the full-service restaurant patron, families, and groups. However, there is a separate entrance for carry-out service to make in and out fast and simple. The pizza is straight up delicious. Flawless, really. I highly recommend trying toppings like meatballs on your next pie! Established way back in 1961, no "Best-of" list would be complete without this legend near the top of the heap. read more

So I'm going to go against the grain I guess and give a not so awesome review. Went here for the first time last weekend with my BF and a huge group of people he knew. I was not impressed at all. Maybe it's my own issue that I decided to get pasta at a place called Pizza House... but usually pasta is good at good pizza places. I had the tortellini with meatballs. The tortellini tasted like it was out of package from your supermarket's freezer, and the sauce was from a jar. Not even a jar of Ragu - like the value brand stuff. Pretty tasteless. The BF got pepperoni and meatball pizza, which he said was "OK." I tasted some of the meatball off it, and it was pretty bland. Not sure if we just went on an off night or something, because everyone else here seems to strangely love this place. One positive I will say is that the service was good. We had a HUGE group across multiple tables and our waitress was very gracious. This almost makes me want to give them 3 stars instead of 2... almost. read more

I had a strong pizza craving on a Sunday evening so my BF and I decided to try Leone's pizza... Well, apparently they were closed even though the website said they would be open for two more hours. Oh well. Opened up Yelp and saw that Pizza House was right around the corner. We decided to eat in because we were both starving. The inside in nothing fancy - lots of booths, very old decor, old school pizza shop kind of place. I didn't mind though, because it was a nice environment and it was very casual/comfortable. We ordered the garlic bread and a medium pepperoni/banana pepper pizza. The garlic bread was SO GOOD. It had such a nice garlic flavor and tons of melted cheese piled on top. I don't know what kind of bread they used, but it was still soft in the center and crunchy on the edges. The bread itself tasted really great. Our pizza had lots of banana peppers and pepperoni. I was expecting a thin, cracker crust, but I was pleasantly surprised with a more chewy, sturdy crust. This is definitely one of those meals that I liked more and more as I was eating it. Been there only one other time, the pizza was excellent and I've been looking to take my girlfriend there. She mentioned pizza Saturday, and the Pizza House instantly popped into my mind. I knew there would be a little wait, no problem. We checked in with the young lady at the "desk". About 20 minute wait, no problem, I informed her that we'd sit at the bar and have a drink while we wait. "OK", she replied. A gentleman behind the bar, wearing a "health mask" was making a drink, we waited patiently, he looked at us, no sort of acknowledgment at all. Not A hello, or " I will be right with you", like we weren't even there. I reference the mask not as an issue, but so that the owner, who sees these, knows who I'm referring to, Ok, he walks away, a young lady goes behind the bar and she gets a drink or two, again as if we aren't even sitting there. I'm doing my best to make eye contact with her. She doesn't even look at us. I make a quick trip to the men's room, returned and asked my gf if anyone took our order. No, she said. I went to the hostess who I informed we'd be sitting in the bar having a drink, who acknowledged that we'd be in the bar having a drink while we wait for our table. I asked her who is working the bar, we've been sitting there awhile, unnoticed. She replied that no one was working the bar and that she doesn't have anyone to get us a beer. She said the servers are too busy taking care of their own customers. I guess we weren't customers yet. I thanked her for letting me know there was no one serving drinks after we sat there 10 minutes. The gentleman in the mask came back to pour two beers, I asked him if he would take a moment and pour us two also, didn't have time, he said. Typically, I'd walk out on the place and go elsewhere. I really wanted my gf to have some of this pizza, it is really good. Although The Pizza House was 0-3 in customer service, we stayed. I was really hoping that the guy that didn't have time for us, was our server. He was not. Another gentleman, and forgive me, I failed to remember his name. Shaved sides of the head, pony tail, the man was ON IT! Took our order promptly, didn't hover over us, kept our glasses full, my gf paid for dinner, she insisted, :) and I slipped him $$$, your loss, guy with the mask. The food is excellent, just a very, VERY disappointing start to our visit. I live in the area and I'm wondering if the gods prompted me to move here to be near The Pizza House. Previous reviewers are correct, get the old world pepperoni. My mom told me that she used to frequent this place for the lunch specials and when we ordered carry-out, it was exactly how she remembered and still amazing. Most places use a white vinegar-based house Italian dressing for their salad, they use a red wine vinegar. Order extra when you get your salads, you'll want to dump it on everything. The toppings and cheese are always plentiful and they have very kind people working the kitchen. I've never had a bad thing at this place and I've been here a multitude of times. This is one of my favorite pizza places and one of the best in town. Their pizza crust is wonderfully thin and crispy the sauce is flavorful. The Pepperoni crisps up nicely and the other toppings are always fresh I also have to have a meatball on the side as they are delicious and I get extra sauce for pizza dipping. There is also what they call fondue - cheesy garlic bread. It has plenty of cheese and garlic butter served with pizza sauce for dipping. I don't believe in a BEST pizza place, but this one should be at the top of most people's list. While I love Donatos spicy sausage, Pizza House's very mild sausage is wonderful. They slice it like their pepperoni and are generous with it. We like to order ours with extra sauce, that way it tastes just as good re-heated. We have been going here for 31 years as a couple and my wife even longer going back to the old Sinclair Road location. You will be glad you came here for the pizza. In the 1980's I lived within walking distance of The Pizza House and ate here at least 3 times a month. I stopped in on Thursday, September 1, 2022 and ordered my usual large "all the way" pizza and antipasto salad, and it was FANTASTIC! I cannot praise them enough, after all these years the quality and taste are still great. They have not lowered their quality in the least and the prices are very reasonable. read more

I was in heaven while visiting my family. I miss midwestern Ohio pizza, and the Pizza House is tops when it comes to this style of pizza. Homemade dough that turns into the perfect combination of a light and chewy crust that still is crispy on the bottom and the edges. The sauce is perfect, not too heavy but enough to bring together the cheese and toppings with the dough. There is also an abundance of toppings adorning each pizza, so you tasted toppings with each slice even the small corners! Upon ordering our server asked if we wanted the old style pepperoni or traditional...we immediately responded with the old style! Which is the thick small circles of pepperoni and the sausage is the same. I usually don't order meat pizza but ended up eating several slices of this meat bc the old style meats tasted so good.
