Was so very happy to finally find a Pizza Inn in the Houston area. I live in San Diego California and was back home here in Houston for the holidays. I was so happy to taste the best pizza again in so long. The pizza was so hot and fresh with lots of cheese and sauce, perfection!! The staff were wonderful and so friendly, I wish I would've gotten their names. I was there Wednesday night about 7 pm. I can't wait till I come home the next time to have your pizza!! Compared to CiCi's: It has a better salad bar along with pasta dishes. It doesn't keep as many kinds of pizza on display but you can order whatever you want and they will have it ready in about 7 minutes. One difference is that this place does have table service in that they have to get you drink refills which means you should leave a tip. Speaking of money, my cost to eat here for an adult buffet with drink was $10 which is a little more expensive than CiCi's. What a great experience! Prompt friendly service (very attentive), excellent pizza (I especially liked their light flaky crust). Big selection of fresh veggies on the salad bar. Everything was clean and we'll stocked and maintained. And they had my favorite type of mustard potato salad too. The fountain Coke was mixed perfectly and had lots of carbonation (ahhh bubbles). They offered if there was some type of pizza not on the buffet to ask and they would make it. I said I'd like a supreme without olives or something with chicken. By the time I finished with my salad they brought a new pizza pan to my table with both! They made half and half and asked how many slices of each I wanted. Now that's service! I honestly thought all the Pizza Inn's were gone, as well as most pizza buffet's. I was shocked to find this place hidden away off 290, and I never would have found it if i weren't trying to avoid freeway traffic on the side streets. I myself always loved Pizza Inn because they do a great thin crust. They do the normal hand tossed and a version of the deep dish, but I am a thin crust junkie! I mainly hit the pizza, repeatedly. But as other reviewers had mentioned the salad bar was really good. It had lots of options and looked very fresh. So I had more pizza, and more pizza, and then some dessert pizza. Now I should mention it may not be in the best part of town, but once your inside you'll forget all about it. Very clean and just a nice place to be. I have eaten at this location over a 100 times, always good pizza and service. Tonight, we ordered a pick-up pizza, same great food as in the restaurant. I have also eaten inside during COVID and they are very safe with their procedures and I was comfortable dining in without any excess fear of exposure. My boyfriend and I have recently gotten into trying new pizza joints in the area and once we had seen that this place had 4 stars on Yelp, we made it a plan to go. Once we went in, we saw a few pizzas that looked promising in the buffet as well as the salad bar but the pasta they had out looked absolutely atrocious. Once we sat down and began to try the food... bamboozled was our most immediate reaction. The pizza was severely undercooked and extremely salty. We were so confused that this place was somewhat full and they were enjoying it. We took a maximum of one bite out of each pizza slice. How pathetic is this - another blurb about a fast food chain joint... Yeah, I'm a sucker for pizza, and this place has very good pizza with great crusts and toppings. But the salad bar makes this place special, and only Pizza Inns with the buffet service have a salad bar. Behold the lettuce - not a brown leaf in sight. And look at the fresh tomatoes. Good salad dressing (Ranch and an excellent Thousand Island). You can even get wine here. And don't forget the cinnamon rolls and the incredible wait-staff. The lady who helped me at the window was extremely nice! She gave me updates on my order every few minutes and even complimented my service dog who was in the car with me. The food was all excellent. I ran restaurants for 10 years and I would have happily had her as a manager in my stores. I forget about this gem of a buffet. I sometimes come here with my resident, starving, college student, sister. She needs food for the long day ahead--lots of it! I remember the days. A lot of buffet places scare me, but this one is nice. It's clean, the service is excellent and the price is right. There is a modest pizza station that is constantly restocked. They are also perfectly willing to custom make a pizza for the buffet if you ask. Also of note is a salad section on one side of the station in case you want to pretend you are eating healthy and responsibly. Lastly, there is a dessert station in case you want to scoff at eating responsibly and good health. I've never had them, but this place also serves margaritas. Strange no? Anyway. For my money, Pizza Inn is the best chain pizza money can buy. This location always delivers a high quality product in a reasonable amount of time. Remember to ask about specials, they usually have more than you find online. You'll get a better deal over the phone than ordering online. Sometimes the drivers even grab me a few pieces of dessert from the buffet. It's the little things that make the difference. I have eaten at Jon's restaurant for now almost 20 years back to when it was on 18 th street. It is the last Pizza Inn buffet in Houston . The secret to success had been a great attentive staff that care about their customers. The salad bar has always been a cut above because they put a lot of effort into getting good produce which takes a lot of daily effort. The buffet pizza is good but the secret is to order a pizza for the buffet anyway you like it. Most people don't know you can do that. That means you can specialty order but have the cost and convienance of a buffet. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I was around the area doing some work and decided to pick-up two pizzas from here. They offer a buffet, however, I was just picking up the pizzas. Their pricing is similar to what Pizza Hut does - any pizza for $10. I got one hand tossed and one stuffed crust both of which were supreme. The crust is a little on the soft side so the pizza slices are a bit floppy but they tasted delicious! Their stuffed crust wasn't as stuffed as what you'd get at Pizza Hut but it was still just enough to add that special something to your pizza slice. Also, their stuffed crust pizza is a little cheaper than Pizza Hut but just as good. The pizzas took something like fifteen minutes to be ready which wasn't bad. Basically what you'd expect from any pizza joint. Overall, Pizza Inn. makes a pretty good pizza. It isn't the best but it's definitely something I wouldn't hesitate to eat again. I wasn't able to try out their buffet but next time I'm in the area, I'll give that a shot, as well. read more

The buffet selections consisted of pepperoni, sausage, and pepperoni and sausage mix. Pizza was very salty and a low-quality. Buffet was overpriced for quality and selections. however the restaurant was very clean and salad bar was very nice. However for the price, and quality of pizza, just not a very good dining option...it's worth it to spend a couple of extra dollars and go to Star Pizza or Candelari's pizza. This would be equivalent to a more expensive version of CiCi's Pizza however CiCi's provides many more pizza options. read more

Growing up in East Texas, there was Pizza Hut and Pizza Inn. This was back when eating pizza was done at the restaurant itself. Going out for pizza was an event. When I moved to Oak Forest I found a Pizza Inn over on 18th street near Ella (they have since moved down the street to Mangum). It had been years since I had Pizza Inn. They are not so easy to find these days. Anyway, the first bite brought back my youth. It tasted just like I remembered it tasting as a kid. No one makes a piping hot cracker-like thin crust pizza like they do. There's something about that sauce. It's delicious. While I miss the old pizza decor of the 70s (dark wood booths, green candles, jukebox, etc), and the actual act of going out for pizza, I can rest easy knowing that a bite at Pizza Inn always seems to remind me of days ling ago. read more

We were so excited to find this place! In North Carolina we had pizza inn everywhere on the East Coast. I haven't been to one in a very very long time. I was so looking forward to the taco pizza and I was not disappointed. We ordered it fresh with no extra charge. beats CiCis by a mile- love this location with their side dishes of mac and cheese and borracho beans. The pizza is good. This visit though they didn't have the pizza selection they normally do. But to be fair we didn't ask for a pizza to be made, they do that here. They also came by with some that they just freshly made. Staff are awesome here- so nice and friendly.
