Been frequenting this Pizza King for more than a decade. Always our favorite spot. We have always enjoyed the quality and service however the experience tonight has left us bewildered and confused as to what has happened to this beloved pizza place. Jeff the owner, who we have met in person and was always welcoming and kind must be under some sort of life altering stress. We placed our order this evening at 5:45pm and was quoted 45-60 minutes. At 7:05pm we called in to check on the status of our delivery as we live in a relatively confusing apartment complex and have had issues with delivery in the past from other places. A worker picked up the phone and said it would be here any minute. We thanked the person and the pizza arrived in 5 minutes. As we were enjoying our dinner the phone rang and when we answered it was the owner Jeff. He berated us for having called in to ask where the pizza was. When my husband told him we weren't even upset he berated us again because as he said "you had 3 people stop what they were doing just so they could find out where your pizza was". So strange..... when I asked if they were under new management as this seemed so bizarre he again said you shouldn't call us to see where the pizza is, it just slows down the process for everyone. I asked him as an owner if he thought calling his customers to berate them was good service and again he said we should never call about it. I cant believe this guy has been in business for 30 years and doesn't care about his customers repeat business. WOW! read more

Having recently moved to Indiana, I was told that eating at Pizza King was part of my initiation as a new Hoosier. I was looking forward to seeing what all the commotion was over and becoming part of the community. Then I took a bite of the pizza. In my opinion, a pizza can only be as good as the crust that it rests upon. The crust on this pizza was downright awful. It reminded me of a taste that I couldn't quite think of until I looked at the box it was sitting in. Oh, that's right, that's cardboard I'm tasting. The rest of it was okay, but it was most certainly overshadowed by an extremely deficient crust. If you're looking for a pizza joint in Carmel, there are definitely better options to be had. In fact, I would venture to say that there aren't any worse options to be had. After all the hype that I had heard, I was certainly disappointed. read more

Consistent, delicious and great customer service. It doesn't matter if it's pizza, burgers, cupcakes, or sushi, I like these three things in a restaurant and Pizza King is a wonderful option if you are looking for something that you can count on! My hubby and I get take out from here at least once a month and we really enjoy the hot sandwiches. I always get the beef boat which is thickly shaved roast beef slathered in a house made gravy sauce and drenched in provolone cheese on a thick bun that doesn't get too soggy but soaks up juices in a perfect way for an awesome "Joey from Friends" sandwich satisfaction! The hubs revels in their Stromboli and adds mushrooms with glee and devours a 14 inch sandwich in mere seconds. I've never gotten a taste b/c it's always LONG gone and I'm so full from my own overstuffed mouth watering madness. All that being said, I really love the customer service. They are always up front about the delivery time and often will recommend coming by to pick up for half the time readiness, but if that's not what they want, they are almost always here down to the minute of what they say when we insist of having it brought to us. I decided to write my review tonight though for two reasons: A) I haven't yet. WHAT?!?! B) The manager called immediately upon realizing that part of our order (the garlic bread with cheese) was left behind. He offered us the option to have someone else bring it right away OR receiving a credit towards our next order. I really appreciate that he took responsibility for the issue BEFORE we noted a problem and that he was happily eager to give us options to fix the mistake. I always say it's not about the mistake if it's handled with professionalism and care. Mistakes HAPPEN ....I understand that and am open minded. But when it's proactively handled, not made to be the customer's problem and easily resolved, I am a happy customer. I recommend Pizza King...There are multiple pizza joints in Carmel...and I like a LOT of them but tonight, PK gets two gravy-covered thumbs up from me! read more

I've been a fan of pizza king for many years. I've also eaten at many of them throughout the state. Never in all my pizza king years have I paid so much for so little than at the Carmel pizza king store. Also the pizza I received made me extremely ill. The attitude of the way older than usual for a pizza store staff paired with highest priced pizza in Carmel has caused me to never purchase food from this particular pizza king again. Personally I think they should change the name to "grouchy old men trying to make a fortune on less than mediocre pizza and such". It's a long name but speaks the truth. read more

Being a life-long Hoosier native, Pizza King has always been a staple in my life. My girlfriend is from the south and has never, until yesterday, had the pleasure of taking in the luxury that is Pizza King pizza. As most natives know, some PKs are better than others. The pizza is generally the same, but depending on ownership, it is actually possible to have a bad experience at a Pizza King. Not here folks. My girlfriend and I stood in line behind a veteran ordering a pizza to go. They took his order promptly, then kindly greeted us and asked for our order. It did not take long for us to get our pizza. The man who brought it was polite and smiled. The pizza, as usual, did not disappoint. Not at all. We got a large pepperoni and bacon. The same order I have placed since I was 12. I knew what to expect for the most part. Euphoria basically. Now to see if my girlfriend is ready for the next step in our relationship, or if maybe she really isn't a keeper. Just as expected, she is. She bit into Pizza King pizza for the first time in her life. Her eyes opened wide. Astonishment painted across her face. "Wow!" she said, adding a few expletives in the mix. She said it was the best pizza she had ever had. I guess it's time to buy her that engagement ring after all. As we enjoyed our pizza, a former Hoosier walked in. As I eavesdropped for the sake of curiosity, she mentioned that she had lived here previously and hadn't eaten her favorite pizza in years. I even asked the lady if that's what she said. She said she hadn't eaten Pizza King pizza since 1998. '98 and couldn't wait folks! I explained that my soon-to-be fiancé was from Music City y'all! and this girl just had her first taste and was sold. It isn't because I grew up here. God has clearly blessed me by putting me here. However, nostalgia isn't why I love this pizza. I love it because it is the best. The ordering process was pretty easy and fast. I was told it would be 20 minutes and I was there at 15 minutes. The pizza felt lukewarm like it had been sitting there without any heat. The pizza itself was lackluster. The sauce and sausage had very little taste. The mushrooms were canned and didn't seem like they were even cooked. Call to get it straightened out, I'm told I need to be clearer when I place an order, also, told I only thought I ordered a deep dish, but I really didn't! Not every Pizza King pizza is created equal. Throughout the years I have encountered many different Pizza Kings and know this to be true. Many are PK's in name only and lack the flavor and appeal of the original restaurants. The Carmel Pizza King is one of the good ones. It is consistent in quality and has the great flavor I have come to expect from Pizza King. I love the shredded toppings, esp the pepperoni and bacon (I repeat, shredded bacon!). This ensures that each piece is covered in topping goodness, which is a good thing! I always end up getting their regular crust, so I don't know how the deep dish is. I have seen many other people order it and it looks delicious! I recommend this place, especially if you like Pizza King. read more

I tried this Pizza King location for the first time yesterday evening. The ordering process was smooth enough.... I called in and the phone was answered promptly. After placing my order I gave my credit card info and was told that the delivery time would be "35 to 55 minutes"... it was actually about 45, so I would give this PK a thumbs up in that department. As for the food, I had a small taco pizza with six buffalo wings and a side salad. The pizza and wings were quite good (although I don't know why they insisted on slicing an 8" pizza into squares rather than triangles.... it's not like it was going to feed a roomful of people). The salad was a little disappointing.... basically the contents of one of those bagged salad mixes you see at the grocery store -- mostly lettuce and little else. Not a bad place.... I'd order from here again just based upon the quality of their pizza and the prompt delivery. read more

For those of us who grew up in central Indiana this is comfort pizza. Always great and reliable. Get a bit of all the ingredients in every bite and love that toppings go to the edge vs clustered in the center like most pizza chains. Crust is amazing as well. Absolutely terrible service and mediocre pizza for a Pizza King. Called and was quoted 45 for delivery. An hour and a half later we call and they tell us that the pizza is still there. No apologies, nothing. We decided to drive in and pick it up, and once again not even a "sorry" or "this is unusual." They just gave us the pizza, which was room temp at this point. But fear not, they at least transferred it to a new box before giving it to us. read more

If you grew up eating Pizza King in the Muncie/Anderson area, don't do it! Don't go, this is imposter Pizza King and tastes nothing like what you think it should. (The Brownsburg and Avon Pizza King's don't taste like the Muncie area either, but it is better and they have really cool trains that bring your drinks to the table.) read more

While not EVERY PK tastes the same this one tastes great! I grew up on Indiana Pizza Kings in Lafayette, West Lafayette, Frankfort, Lebanon and Indy. The one in Carmel is just as good! Most are individually owned or are a part of a small franchisee's operation. This is a small shop with a few tables. The owner while not outwardly a "smiley guy" is actually very friendly if you chat with him. The pizza is good and the sandwiches are big and tasteful. Try the hot ham n cheese. With chips and a pickle spear on the side you won't be disappointed! Also, they have an old school Ms. Pac-man game as well as an old Neo-Geo. That's just awesome! read more

I've grown up around the Richmond, IN area eating PK. The first time I got a Royal Feast here it was top notch. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. I just went back this Sunday after being excited to tell me friends from the area we have one close to my apartment. Well, we got the pizza and it was the worst Pizza King pizza I have ever had. If it wasn't so expensive I would have thrown it in the garbage. The ingredients were okay, but the pizza was undercooked and soggy. Might have to make the drive to the one in Nobelsville. read more

I ordered delivery for a 10" Meat Feast Pan pizza. Order taker on the phone said 30-55 minutes. The pizza arrived in 30 minutes. The delivery guy was polite. The order taker was polite. I opened the pizza and to my amazement was a deep dish pan pizza! I was expecting lame-o like pizza hut pan pizza. It looked awesome. There was a thick layer of cheese across the top sprinkled with a little bit of seasonings. Inside the pizza was the meat I have come to expect from Pizza King--the small diced up pieces of pepperoni, bacon, ham, and finely crumbled sausage and ground beef. Also under the blanket of mozzarella was more cheese with the rest of the toppings. The crust itself was a flaky crunchy deep sided deep dish crust. All very nice. All very tasty. I was really quite surprised by this pizza. Pizza King pizza is usually cut into squares--that's how they do it--but, this pan pizza was cut into wedges. That is understandable--this pizza it is important that every slice have some of the crust from the edge--a place to hold the enormous slice and also a delicious crust that you can smell that real yeast was used to rise the dough. I am not a stranger to Pizza King. I have ordered from this location several times and used to visit the Pizza King in Fort Wayne quite a lot. This order exceeded my expectations. read more

What a rude owner!!! This man seems to think he can mouth off all he wants to customers. I have ordered from this store many times. Each time they want phone number and name. Up until a month or two ago I would give my first name and all was good. Now they insist on last name too. When I questioned that practice after paying for my pizzas, I was told that they needed to know who to "go after" if the pizza wasn't picked up. REALLY, it is worth an argument over an $8 pizza. I might have been ok but just as I stopped to pick up napkins before going out he turned around and yelled , "well I think it is weird that some people don't want to give their full name".
