NY style cheese pizza they forgot to sauce until after cooking.

Ordered a NY style cheese. Compare this photo to other NY cheese photos and you will see a difference. Here's what I saw. The pizza was pulled from the oven and placed in the box. The person who did it looked at the pizza for a full 3 seconds with a puzzled look and took the box in place I couldn't see. The person brought the box back closed. The person before me was presented an open box to confirm toppings. Not mine. The person forgot to sauce the pizza and dumped it on top. It was an intentional and clumsy attempt to cover his ass, but who wouldn't notice this? Based on this coverup, who the hell knows what else goes on. It's pizza...How bout you come clean and ask if the person wants to wait another 15-20 minutes? Mistakes happen, but this was a coverup. I'd like to give 1 star, but I don't want to hurt a business because of one corrupt employee.

Decided to order our annual NYE pizza pie from Pizza Knight this year since I've had it bookmarked for a while, and I've been wanting to try their Detroit-Style pizza. We went with the Drunken Peps (mozzarella cheese, two types of pepperoni (original sliced/cup & char), homemade vodka sauce, and freshly grated pecorino Romano cheese). It was a bit too much sauce for me, especially since the sauce was meh. The actual pizza itself was also more like a focaccia rather than Detroit-Style. The edges were also too crispy for me - almost burnt. Not sure I'd try another pie but glad I got to cross this one off my list. I just hope this pie is not indicative of what my 2026 is going to look like.

I'm stunned by all the reviews four and five stars. I'm not sure if it was an off day. I triple checked to make sure I actually went to the same place that all these reviewers are reviewing. The pie was OK not enough cheese and the sauce was dry. The Detroit pie with pepperoni was insanely salty. I thought at first that maybe it was the pepperoni, but it was definitely the sauce. I did ask for well done, but I think they went a bit overboard as you could see from the picture. I actually wanted to try this place so bad I went off of keto that I've been on for four months. The juice sadly wasn't worth the squeeze or post meal keto flu. They also pass on the credit card fee to the customer. Knight Pizza - checkmate out!

Drunken Margherita Detroit will be a go to. Not sure who else in the area even does Detroit style. The white was a little bland. The plain was on the salty side but I'll try it again in the future. I'm looking forward to different ones for next time.

There are different levels to the pizza game and Pizza Knight is definitely on that NEXT level! On a mission to try every well-received pizza joint in NJ, we hit up Pizza Knight twice in a matter of a week to try their popular Drunken Peps Pizza and Margherita Detroit Style Pizza. First, this spot is as super small tiny hole in the wall as it gets. So small it is that they only have a table that lifts up and down from the cashier's counter. Honestly, I had NEVER seen that before at a restaurant and it caught me by surprise when a customer actually used it! The employees were very friendly both times I came to pick up and they were right on time with my pizza pickup orders. As for taste? Superb. If you love pepperoni, the Drunken Peps Pizza will ABSOLUTELY hit the spot with 2 types of pepperoni - the original sliced, which actually sat under the cheese and the roni cups sitting above the cheese. Can I say GENIUS??? Another first for me. I had never everrrr seen a layer of pepperoni UNDER the cheese! So simple, yet so creative. I was in awe of this otherworldly genius idea. As for the Margherita Detroit Style Pizza ---- mmm, mmmmmm. That homemade marinara sauce was so tangy, yet so delicious. The pizza was so super fresh. The thickness of the pizza did catch me a little by surprise, but it was very crispy and good. Impressive? YES. Such a small pizza joint, but such pizza goodness coming out of their ovens. We might have checked the box on this spot, but there NO DOUBT in this world that this will be one of our go to pizza spots going forward ---- and we'll absolutely be eyeing the Drunken Peps Detroit Style next time!

Dear Detroit Style Pizza Competitors... you've got a new contender! The battle of the Detroit style pizza joints in northern NJ is heating up, but to my tastebuds- this Knight, has entered into the battlefield for a fair fight. This is a newly opened pizza shop where you can order for takeout or deliver... not really a dine in spot. The husband and wife dynamic duo have it down to a science where they are pumping out one of the best Detroit style pizza in northern NJ. That rectangle pie with edge to edge crispy melted cheese is unique to the "grab and fold" style we are used to here in the east coast. The flavors all married together give your tastebuds that new pizza experience you may have been looking for. And, it is all proportioned equally. The sauce, to cheese, to dough ratio is spot on! I got the Detroit margarita with fresh garlic and it was amazingggggg! Last, but DEFINITELY not least... Even though this is a pizzeria, this place pumps out one of the BEST chicken tenders I've ever had in my life!!! Yessss, the chicken tender appetizer just about stole the show here. Super tender, juicy, light battered, tasty, zesty, finger licking... I could NOT get enough! That buttermilk batter too MmmMmmmm! With that said, this is a super solid spot for a Detroit style pie and Chicken meal. So needless to say, their chicken parm sandwich is made with their amazing freshly made to order chicken... just a well balanced meal in my eyes. Keep up the great work Pizza Knight... It's an honor to have you aboard!

The pizza here was a hit!! The pizza slice was thin but not too thin, it was the perfect bread to cheese ratio and the sauce was the best part! We got a 12" pie and it was perfect to share for 2 people. It says a lot when I even finish the pizza crust!!

Mike showing us some great hospitality!

This is THE BEST pizza place around!!! it's not just that the pizza is phenomenal it's the service is quick, the hospitality from Mike is A1. it doesn't better than Pizza Knight

Grumpy's Sourdough Pizza Co. 522 Saddle River Rd…read more Saddle Brook, NJ 07663 Hot Honey Heaven Grumpy's Triple Threat Multiple people have reached out to me and suggested I explore this locally owned pizzeria located in the heart of Saddle Brook. As I entered the parlor, it is a hole in the wall with minimal seating and no AC unit. Regardless that it wasn't fancy, I still had a very gut instinct the quality of their pies was going to be on the money. When I arrived a weekday afternoon to place my order, the cashier informed me there will be a 40 minute wait. For the fact that the wait is this long indicates there are in demand and their pizza is top quality. I also saw framed plaques along their table counter showing they received positive media recognition from The Record, northjersey.com, and bestofnj.com. Hot Honey Heaven: I was initially skeptical about the appearance of this pie because it looks kind of messy. However, I took a single bite and was immediately hooked. This pie was topped with pepperoni, crispy chicken, and ricotta cheese. Mike's Hot Honey was generously poured over the top. It has a combination of sweet and spiciness. I never anticipated honey would enhance the flavor of the pie; I wish I requested an extra cup! Grumpy's Triple Threat: Named after the restaurant, this pie is prepared with pesto, grandma sauce, and pink tomato sauce. The sprinkled parmigiano reggiano added a nice touch. I especially liked the artistic appearance. The three colors were visually appealing, especially with the swirls of pesto. All pies are prepared with their signature sourdough pizza crust. Each slice had a perfect undercarriage and a firm crunch. Customers have the option to bake the pies may light, medium, or well-done. I chose medium because a majority of the customer base prefers this style. As a bonus, Grumpy's offer complimentary crust upgrades. I opted to add garlic butter brush; the outer crust edge was literally brushed with hot, garlic-infused butter. While it is common to throw away the top portion of the pizza, the upgrade is definitely an incentive to eat the crust. San Marzano tomatoes are the primary ingredient for the sauce. It's not overly sweet and has a light tang. This pizzeria is geared for take out, but there are plenty of benches only minutes away at Saddle River County Park. You can enjoy your pie while admiring the beautiful scenery of the park. The parking lot has limited spaces, but you can easily find a spot on the street. Grumpy's may be a hole in the wall, but the pizza was outstanding. I'm really exuberant that I had a pristine experience exploring sourdough crust for the first time! I was far from "grumpy" after dining here! #grumpys #grumpyssourdoughpizzaco #grumpystriplethreat #hothoneyheaven
