Donna's Pizza may be the heart of Old Palisades Park and holds a special place in my heart. We're regulars, and the vegetarian pie is always our go-to. The crust? Hands down, the star of the show. It's got that perfect balance of crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside - honestly, I could just eat the crust alone and be happy. (And I'm not even a crust person!) The ingredients are always fresh and I love their combination of veggies in their vegetarian pie. I always ask to replace the eggplant with mushrooms though (I don't like eggplants.) They are extremely generous with portions. With 8 slices in a pie you can comfortably feed 4. A steal! There's just something about this place that feels like home, and every time we order, it's like we're getting a little taste of comfort. Probably stems from the nostalgia from my school days where my friends and I would hang out after grabbing a slice or two. It's a kid wallet friendly place and serves awesome specialty pies. They have other Italian staples like pasta and subs. Recently, I tried their meatball and tortellini soup. It was so good!!! (Local tip: their Sicilian pizza is also really good) If you're ever in the area, don't miss out on Donna's - it's the kind of place you'll find yourself coming back to again and again. They don't make places like this anymore. You get speedy service at the counter.

Ordered calamari, chicken parm with spaghetti and a plain slice for my toddler who loves pizza. Picked up food which seemed fresh considering how hot everything was. Spent about $40 which ultimately went down the drain. Calamari was okay tasting, a little chewy.. but there was just something off about the red sauce. Even my son only took a couple of bites of pizza and left the rest which he never does. Chicken parm wasn't very flavorful and the sauce just left an aftertaste like it had been in a container for too long. A shame cause it actually looks really good. Pics are after we finished cause we just didn't want to continue..

Located right on the main ave with street parking, indoor seating only and decent pricing. Had a gathering after our last soccer game of the season. Owner had reserved a nice seating section for our group (called a few days prior). Pizza was fresh, indoor room was perfect for our group of adult and kids and the pricing was just right. Thanks Donnas!

    Great pizza!

I stopped in to check this pizza spot out and it turned out to be great. This place has been there since 1965 when things were very different in the area. The pizza though took me back to the Bronx in the 60's and 70's when the pizza was so good it made you want to eat a whole pie. The crust was delicious toasty and chewy at the same time with so much flavor. I just happened upon this spot by accident and now it will e my go to spot for pizza. We met the owner while there and he told us about how when they first opened people used to be out in the street socializing and enjoying the company of neighbors. I remember those days and I truly miss them. Nonetheless, I will be back!

You haven't had a true Italian American sub without having walked in Donna's. Don't let the rundown and outdated appearance without a proper menu on the wall fool you. The recipes are original as they get and true to ones that have made this institution last as long as it has (55 years). My sandwich was loaded, dressed up with lettuce onion and tomatoes generously, and eons better than Subway or any sandwich franchise place can ever make.

The place has been nicely updated and kept fresh with tasteful renovations without loosing its local pizzeria restaurant touch. Service was delivered with a smile and it was good to hear about the original owners Mr and Mrs Franco. My son and daughter had to have a NY pizza in NY - but stated this was better and without the hefty cost and the crazy wait My personal favorites from the past are the cheese pizza and the mussels, and the sausage and pepper heroes This time only was able to eat the pizza since we had already had dinner, honestly it tasted great . Unsure when I'll be back but will definitely make a stop. For reference had gone to school in NYC for 9 years and had plenty of Rays or other NY pizza and Franco's was always my goto. The menu isn't massive, but they cover every category with extreme precision and do it really well. Seafood, pasta, veal, chicken, and all the classic appetizers you can think of from stuffed artichokes, zucchini blossoms, and house-made burrata. The ambiance is old-school Italian in the best way: timeless, romantic, and cozy. It works just as well for an intimate date night as it does for a small group dinner. Bonus points for being BYOB. We ordered the veal marsala and the seafood pomodoro. The veal was pounded to perfection and swimming in a ridiculously addictive sauce. The seafood pasta was cooked perfectly and loaded with fresh shrimp, clams, and mussels and you can taste the quality and care put in the food. Meals are served with a salad to start, and you can expect to spend around $35 per entrée, which feels more than fair for the quality. We were genuinely impressed and were treated with a lot of attention throughout the meal. The concept of the restaurant being run by two italian twins was honestly so sweet. Highly recommend if you're looking for classic Italian done right without trekking into the city.

Typically not a big "restaurant at a hotel food guy" but the experience and food here we're both pretty good. There's a nice choice of seating if you prefer a bar experience or a sit down restaurant experience. We chose to sit down restaurant experience. Our waiter was very friendly and quite attentive. After mulling over the menu we were set for dinner. My colleague had the fillet mignon, medium rare with mushroom and Bolognese sauce. I got the rigatoni with eggplant. The dinner starts out with two rolls and butter. Be sure to ask for a choice of rolls as it appears, there are three or four different options to choose from. They were OK, not warm, a bit on the stale side. My colleague enjoyed the steak saying it was tender and filling. It was juicy and had a lot of flavor to it. The overall feedback was positive. My rigatoni was Al Dante, perfect! The red sauce was just right. Not too sweet nor too tangy. There was a fair amount of eggplant and balls of mozzarella cheese. I added Parmesan cheese sprinkled on the top. Every bit of my meal was eaten. Not all meals include a salad. The filet did include a salad. I had to get a side salad. The salads were a bit small and lacking variety but overall OK. Overall this restaurant is a good choice.
