Located right on the main ave with street parking, indoor seating only and decent pricing. Had a gathering after our last soccer game of the season. Owner had reserved a nice seating section for our group (called a few days prior). Pizza was fresh, indoor room was perfect for our group of adult and kids and the pricing was just right. Donna's Pizza may be the heart of Old Palisades Park and holds a special place in my heart. We're regulars, and the vegetarian pie is always our go-to. The crust? Hands down, the star of the show. It's got that perfect balance of crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside - honestly, I could just eat the crust alone and be happy. (And I'm not even a crust person!) The ingredients are always fresh and I love their combination of veggies in their vegetarian pie. I always ask to replace the eggplant with mushrooms though (I don't like eggplants.) They are extremely generous with portions. With 8 slices in a pie you can comfortably feed 4. A steal! There's just something about this place that feels like home, and every time we order, it's like we're getting a little taste of comfort. Probably stems from the nostalgia from my school days where my friends and I would hang out after grabbing a slice or two. It's a kid wallet friendly place and serves awesome specialty pies. They have other Italian staples like pasta and subs. Recently, I tried their meatball and tortellini soup. It was so good!!! Ordered calamari, chicken parm with spaghetti and a plain slice for my toddler who loves pizza. Picked up food which seemed fresh considering how hot everything was. Spent about $40 which ultimately went down the drain. Calamari was okay tasting, a little chewy.. but there was just something off about the red sauce. Even my son only took a couple of bites of pizza and left the rest which he never does. Chicken parm wasn't very flavorful and the sauce just left an aftertaste like it had been in a container for too long. A shame cause it actually looks really good. I stopped in to check this pizza spot out and it turned out to be great. This place has been there since 1965 when things were very different in the area. The pizza though took me back to the Bronx in the 60's and 70's when the pizza was so good it made you want to eat a whole pie. The crust was delicious toasty and chewy at the same time with so much flavor. I just happened upon this spot by accident and now it will e my go to spot for pizza. We met the owner while there and he told us about how when they first opened people used to be out in the street socializing and enjoying the company of neighbors. I normally don't like to leave reviews for certain businesses but the other day I had a very thin slice of pizza and one bottle of Snapple and I couldn't believe the price ! $7.70 for an average slice of pizza that's not even worth bragging about. I'm figuring five dollars for the slice and 270 for the Snapple ? Absolutely ridiculous and I won't be going to that establishment anymore. It's my second time going there and you can just tell by the expression on their faces that they just don't want to be there. You just don't feel welcomed when you walk in the door. The recipes are original as they get and true to ones that have made this institution last as long as it has (55 years). Looks like it's been around a while, old school pizzeria. Nothing too specIal, prices are similar to what you pay in the city for a typical slice. I go here once a month to kill that lasting craving for pizza I get here and there, the same way kids crave a cheesy mac and cheese or grilled cheese just for its ooey gooey cheesy fun they're known for. Anyway, I'm here to say, yeah the owner never smiles or says hi when you come in. But come on, are you a baby? Do you REALLY need to hear those words to feel eager to support his business? Think about it. This place is open 12 hours a day, damn near 7 day's a week. This man doesn't owe you anything, he's just running a store, working, so he can pay the bills, just like you and me. And, who knows. Maybe he IS nostalgic for a previously predominantly Italian community that once was Palisades Park. This whole east coast used to be haven for Italian, Polish, and Russian immigrants. So maybe he's got particularly stronger feelings of melancholy seeing it all gone. It's hard to accept, trust me. Imagine visiting your home country, in my case Korea, only to find the country's been entirely restructured and replaced by those ethnically Japanese. The Koreans would NOT be happy. It's pretty much the way Americans see Latin immigration, anyway. I'm not saying the owner is right but sometimes old fashioned is what people are and you can't change that despite your best efforts. I say all he knows is old Pal Park and his pizza. So come along, grab a slice, and maybe ask him about old Pal Park. And he'll light up, and share memories with you. That's what comes to mind when I think of Donna's owner. No hate, just perhaps a misunderstood man living in his own snowglobe bubble of a happier past. read more

I regret not coming here earlier. One of my best friends dad grew up in Pal Park and always raves about Donnas. I always pushed off going because there's so many korean restaurants on broad ave that I usually go to and I feel like I can get pizza anywhere. Man, do I regret not coming earlier. The Sicilian pie was one of my favorite pizza pies ever, it was the perfect amount of thickness and they put the perfect sauce/ cheese amount. It's truly amazing after all these years it's still there on broad avenue. History lesson for all the people who aren't familiar with broad ave, it's the most amount of Koreans in one street in the world outside of Korea. It's nickname is called "Korea way"...so for Donnas still to be here after every other restaurant on this street is Korean is truly remarkable. One of the only place that feel like home. I tell everyone I meet about this place. Whenever I come back into town, I ask for Donna's. Just driving past there bring back so many awesome time I ate there with my friend. Best sauce. I even made my husband bring home a Sicilian pie so I can wrap and freeze. Only bad thing about moving out of town is knowing no other pizza place compares and I'm always disappointed. I even brought my son in there to sit and have a slice. My family has been loyal customers since we've moved to this area (+15 years). Donna's was always the pizzeria we called for family dinners or huge events. The oven-baked pizzas are large in size and savory in taste. However, over the years, we've noticed that service has not always been consistent. Often, the pizza tasted as if it was reheated from the morning. I've called Donna's informing them of the issue. The first time I called about the problem, Donna's redelivered a fresh pie, tasting completely different from the one delivered. The second time an incident like this occurred, I called them back, only to have the employee yell at me over the phone. As loyal customers of over fifteen years, I can assure you that I know when Donna's Pizza is fresh. Please deliver fresh pizza and improve upon customer service! I just moved from NYC where great pizza was abundant. So maybe I'm spoiled but I found donna's to be one of the worst slices I've had in years. It tasted like the bad $1 slices they sell in NYC around Hell's Kitchen and port authority. Like public school pizza. Or cheap frozen supermarket pizza. Then I tried Ralpho's pizza down broad avenue today and it was really good. Their sauce is very sweet, but if that's your thing, you'll like ralpho's much better than Donna's. It's also cheaper at $2.15 a slice. Finally, Donna's has a very unfriendly vibe. It was unhappy faces with curt answers. Ralpho's pizza on the other hand is all made and served by Frank the owner who is super friendly, is proud of his food, and seems genuinely glad you stopped by to pick up a piece. And If you're Asian, you'll definitely be treated warmer by Frank than by Donna's. The choice is a no brainer. read more

Great Pizza. Amazing Sicilian Pie, The best around period. I've lived in Palisades Park for over 25 years, born and raised. When it comes to the racist remarks, Donna's treats their customers exactly the same. Mike, the man in the front is blunt, without a doubt. Old school guy that doesn't smile at everyone that walks through the door, but as you build a relationship with him. He will joke around with you and can be one of the most caring people you will ever get to know. I go to Donna's more for mike than for the pizza. And let me mention that I am not, white, I am very much a Latino, and have never been treated in a racist manner ever. That is not something I can say about anything else on broad avenue. I grew up in this town watched the community change. I get followed around in other stores, and am treated like I am a lesser person to everyone else. As a kid, my Korean friends would have me go to the store with them so that I can be followed around, while they stole things. It's two hard headed old school cultures very close knit to their own. (Italian & Korean) Older generations in general will be to some extent unwelcoming and close their doors to those that in their eyes do not belong. It's just funny to me to hear complaints of racism, when I dealt with it my entire life in town. read more

My favorite has to be their Sicilian slices they're perfectly thick and covered in rich gooey cheese. They've been a staple in Palisades Park for as long as I can remember - their seating area is usually full of students from the high school. Pretty good pizza! Small is huge, eggplant topping was great- diced, I prefer larger slices but nevertheless it was tasty. Also got the mussels which were cooked perfectly and were super fresh. A couple shells didn't open, and the bread we got was a bit odd being that it wasn't quite half a set of rolls and wasn't a full set either?? Also- the bag was horribly wrapped and basically just two paper plates in a plastic bag not secure at all and spilled all over the car seat. So drive slowly if getting pick up! read more
