I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was a little too thin. It was cooked well done just like I like it. I'm not sure if they offer deep dish pizza. That's what I should've asked about. I'll probably give this place another shot hopefully they have a deep dish or a regular hand tossed pizza with some dough in it. Lol read more

Why did it take me so long to visit Pizza Luce? Not only do I enjoy the food, but the vibe here is great. I love the décor. You can order pizza from the counter by the slice, or you can sit down with friends and enjoy pizza or other items on the menu. Yes, the prices are a bit higher, but it really is worth it. I had the Luce - their sausage and garlic pizza. It's everything you love about pizza. The restaurant has different seating areas, each with a little bit different look and feel. I especially like the amoeba shaped table up front that looks out on Superior Street. You can sit here with a group and watch Duluth's street life. The parking situation here is awful, but you can park in the ramp and have your ticket validated. While there are many pizza options in Duluth, there's only one Pizza Luce. Do yourself a favor, and give it a try. You won't regret it. Everyone recommends their Baked Potato Pizza. I have yet to try that one. read more

This was my first time in Duluth and the cashier at Duluth trading company told us to go to Pizza Luce for dinner. We got sat really quickly which was nice because we were a party of 10. The hostess and the server were very nice. The food came over quickly and was all very good. My husband and I shared the pizza luce which was sausage onions and garlic, my son had the chicken nuggets they were more like small chicken fingers which was great they were nice and juicy and all white meat and my other son had plain pasta they both loved their food!! Got this recommendation for when we travelled through.... We.Are.So.Grateful! While I can't say that it is the best pizza in Duluth ( only traveling through) it IS some of the very best I have had & sad that we can't have it again anytime soon. We shared a small pizza and a lunch size lasagna between the two of us, it was perfect aside from the fact that we stuffed ourselves! Bonus, they do have slice of the day choices. This Philly gal was visiting Duluth for the marathon. I eat pizza the night before every race and decided to give Pizza Luce a go. I have a gluten allergy so good pizza is VERY hard to come by. Luce delivered! I had a Hawaiian pizza (ham, pineapple, onions, peppers). They use a cauliflower crust which was done crispy around the edges. While I prefer a spicier sauce, theirs tasted great...not too sweet. Loved the Erath Pinot Noir and the Gluten free rolls with bruschetta. My friend and I even went back the next night to check out their bar and I also had their gluten free key lime pie (it was served in a bowl so not "really" a pie). Regardless it was delicious. For what it is, it's a spectacular pizza! The subtly is so well orchestrated, everything working it's own tune in this crescendo of pizza! Their crust is crispy, with a verifiably superb bite and flavor. Their sauce of all types is wonderfully wholesome, and the cheese is of the highest quality. But the blue-ribbon winner is their sausage: it's a tad spicy, with the subtlest of flavors that harmonize together - honestly, I could eat a bowl of them and nothing else. We had the bear in the morning, then came back that evening for their baked potato pizza half-in-halved with their version of the supreme "the classic." The bear haunts me; it is that great. I expected to hate something, anything, but nothing came to the forefront. It was a perfect "meat lovers" pizza. The supreme was a bit of a downer, mainly because the bear was so good. It's still a fine pizza, but if you ordered the classic, you could've done better. The baked potato pizza...how wonderful an idea, and how expert an execution. It was spectacular, honestly. Who knew mashed potatoes as a sauce would be so revolutionary? It was like eating a rich and wholesome breakfast that you could carry around on a foldable crust! The bacon particularly was of noteworthy praise. It was coveted at my table, rich and thick, well fried. I wish I'd have bought an entire baked potato pizza. But there's always next time. Do yourself a favor, and pick up a baked potato for breakfast, and a bear in the evening. These guys do absolute great job at making pizza, and the service isn't bad either. read more

Pizza Luce is quite famous in Minnesota, and their Duluth location did not dissapoint. We had the pretzal appetizer and I asked for dairy free RiNOTa cheese. When it was brought out I was not super psyched as it looked awfully nutty, but it ended up being soo amazing and delicious with the pretzel. I would definitly recommend trying it. For pizza I built my own with goat cheese, as I only have to avoid cow dairy. My only complaint is that the goat cheese was in little chunks throughout the pizza, instead of being grated on like normal cheese. A cow-free pizza that tastes semi-normal is always my goal, so if it's not too busy next time I go I might ask for it to be grated. Other than that it was absolutely delicious and perfect. I also have to give a shout out to our waitress Valaria- she was amazing! Recommended the RiNOTa cheese to me and even helped us find a hotel to stay in for the night! Apperently Duluth in the summer gets pretty booked up so we were having trouble finding a hotel for less than $200, but she was able to recommend a super cute historic hotel for under $100. Incredible. Thanks Valaria! Definitly try Pizza Luce next time you're in town if you're looking for amazing food and service. read more

First of all, it's got a strange vibe, but it's pretty cool. I'm not saying that in a bad way it all, it's just different. For example, I've never had a meal where Pantera is playing in the background, but I loved it. If I had to complain, service could be a little quicker, but it wasn't bad at all and they were all very friendly and nice. Food was amazing. I had an Italian hoagie sandwich and it was one the best sandwiches I've ever had. The bruschetta is amazing as well as an appetizer. My wife had the mac and cheese and loved it. Hey it's Pizza Luce, and it's in Duluth. That's pretty much all I have to say. My favorite thing at Luce regardless of which location is the meatball appetizer (that's right ... not a pizza, the meatball appetizer). Many times I get just that and poach a piece of pizza from my dining partners. The sauce is spicy but not too spicy, thick and tomatoey and covered with cheese, served with garlic bread. Mmmmm. This is also a unique Luce location with the stage in the main room (hello, Trampled by Turtles!) and the kind of side bar off through the door. Also notable that you can walk in and grab a slice for late-night dining and that it's open really late on weekend nights. A quintessential Duluth place to eat. Pizza Luce is not NY style pizza, but defintey tasty in its own right. With whole wheat crust with a variety of toppings and options including gluten-free and vegan, the pizza here is definitely a good meal. While it is local MN chain, I do think it's worth a stop if you have the hankering for some pizza. We tried: the chickenless wings (essentially vegetarian chicken nuggets), the summer special candied bacon and watermelon salad, the mashed potato pizza, and the Ruby Rae pizza. The salad was comprised of fresh, peppery arugula greens and did not skimp out on the various toppings. Unfortunately, they were all out of all wings, so we ended up going for the veggie nuggets. I would just skip those as they are the same ones you can get from the freezer section at your local supermarket. The mashed potato pizza was interesting in a good way. Definitely creamy and homey at the same time; in some ways, it felt like a guilty pleasure. The Ruby Rae was full of bold flavor that had a slight kick. The crust on both pizzas held up well to the various toppings and sauces. There was good ratio of sauce and toppings on each pizza. I ended up ordering on the phone and coming in in person to pick the order up. Despite being a pick up order, they still provided utensils, napkins, and plates, which was a nice touch. read more

Quality food here. I always get a salad. I know it - it's a pizza place. A small salad with extra chicken is a good sized meal. Add a slice of pizza and it is a full dinner. Pizza sauce is rich and tasty. The pizza crust (everyone has different tastes on this) is also terrific. Not too thin. Not gummy. Just a little crunch and a little chew to it. Greens on the salad are not some factory salad bag dump. Big healthy pieces of romaine one the Caesar. The spinach salad is another winner with a a great dressing. read more
