Went to see Pizza Mama because of the show. It was a smaller space than we thought, but overall we would go back! The staff were friendly and attentive. We got the margarita and white pizza. They have several types of pizza, including my favorite which are large slices with a thinner crust. The margarita was my favorite! Overall, it was cute. It was cute to see Alicia's glamorous touches in the restaurant

I hate to leave this review because the first time we ordered pizza mamma via grub hub it was great. This time around, the pizza was not cooked at all. So much that we had to throw the slices into the air fryer. The sauce was really good, but again, whoever is tossing pies back there needs to better understand quality vs quantity.

Raw Dough in the Fried Oreos!!!

My fiancé and I ordered a Sicilian Style pizza well done, garlic knots and fried Oreos. Pizza was okay but not great not a lot of flavor and it wasn't even cooked well done. The garlic knots where sitting in a ton of oil in the container and I understand there garlic knots but there was just to much garlic. Then comes the fried Oreos...I don't know where to begin but they were awful! They're suppose to be fried and they were raw! The dough wasn't even cooked and we could mold the dough back together that's how bad it was. In other words our experience was awful and will not be going back to this establishment.

I recently picked up pizza from here and thought this spot's interior was super cute. I loved the light up marquee letters. Arrived a few minutes early for pickup and our pizzas were ready to go. My favorite pizza was a current special they had going on-- pink vodka pizza. The sauce was super flavorful and I loved the crust. I'd definitely order again!

Woahhh mamma this place is great. Slices I've had periodically have all been good, I love a nice crispy reheated slice. The vodka chicken grinder though is where the magic is. That sandwich, extra sauce, add ricotta. Death bed sandwich. Thank me later

Where's the ricotta?

I was looking forward to trying Pizza Mamma and unfortunately it's a once and done. The picture is of their Hot Honey pizza and...where's the ricotta? I also added mushrooms and there weren't too many on it. It might have been an off night for them but I can't spend the $$$ if they're going to forget ingredients. Side Note: There's such a disparity in ratings between Google Reviews (4.4) and Yelp (3.0). The rating is definitely closer to the 3.

2.5 stars I guess if a business is trying to be good at 3 styles of pizza 5 stars is a stretch goal. The New York slices were very good, a little thicker than the hand toss places in RI, more like NY. 4 stars for the NY slices Sicilian were cooked to perfection, not doughy, no gumline, just the crust really did have any taste to it. Felt rush at the registered, order 5 slices, wanted to sign up for the reward program but the girl pushed the order through a little fast. No receipt offered, and no offer of the punch cards. All the slices were double stacked and cramped into one small pizza box. The slices were barely reheated, cold to touch, the girls were happy to reheated everything and were pleasant Slices are $4+ each, so these should be served at the correct temperature. And not double stacked in the same box. Will be back to try the Detroit style.

Ok so what's there to say about this pizza... 1st momma may know best but definitely not about pizza! I ordered the NY style for pick up, got half veggies and ricotta and half mozzarella. The sauce was bland bland bland and the crust just as bland and soggy in the middle. The sign and lights are a coverup for the dark and sad looking pizza you get in the box. Will not order again, sorry mamma!

Assortment of NY Slices (Decent, pretty avg. 6.5/10)

Came here recently for slices. I'm picky for pizza.. This place hit the marks. They have a great variety of slices- this is a key point- you don't know if they'll have a full assortment when you go. You might hit the lottery and get there when a Detroit pizza comes out and you can get a slice. It goes fast. People who are eating in see those come out and all go back to the counter to buy it up. That said, the Detroit and Sicilian are 100% worth coming here for. For NY, there are a few other shops in the state I'd prefer. This one was a little on the sad side. Not crisp at all. They barely heat it up for you. They should be firing them back up in the oven to get them piping hot so the cheese remelts and it gets some nice color on the undercarriage. It's not a fantastic atmosphere, not very roomy. It's an unorganized system to order slices and then pay. They have some kinks to work out on the process of ordering and paying. That said, it's a tight space and maybe they're doing what they can. I'd absolutely come back for Sicilian and detroit. Slices ranged from $4-5.50. Got full for like $13 so can't complain. Solid job Pizza Mamma.

4 "cold" slices of Detroit style!

Kind service. I loves these recommended Detroit slices of buffalo chicken and hot honey cup pepperoni! I would come back again.

This spot has had a bit of a rough history--three businesses in six years--so I wasn't sure what to expect going in. I had read mixed reviews about the pizza, with some saying it really depends on the day, but I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the Sicilian-style/Detroit-style pizzas: the Motor City Roni and the Spicy Vodka Baller. Both were crisp, flavorful, and definitely hit the mark. Great texture, solid flavor combos--they were a win. If they can keep that consistency, the pizza itself could be a strong draw. The line to order moved quickly, and the person who took my order was sweet and helpful, which made for a good start. However, that experience was undercut a bit when I went to pay. The person at the register seemed kind of checked out. As I stepped up, she walked off to look at takeout orders. At first, I thought maybe she hadn't seen me, but then she came back, looked at the ready orders, glanced around for waiting customers--still no acknowledgment that I was standing right in front of her. After an awkward pause, I finally said, "I want to pay and take my pizza," and even then, there was no apology, no receipt offered, not even a thank you. That little interaction felt unnecessarily drawn out and left a bad impression. One plus: there's plenty of parking, which is a big bonus for the area and makes it easy to swing by without stress. Overall, the Detroit-style pizza gets a solid 5/5. The food was legit. But the customer service definitely needs work--just some basic attentiveness and courtesy would go a long way in making the whole experience feel better-rounded.

Obsseseeddddd. This is like a fairly new pizza place and I was skeptical because of reviews are mixed. I have to say I'm literally obsessed. The Detroit pizza is to die for and the regular pieces are just as good. I wish I lived closer. I would go every weekend.

The Motor City 'Roni from Pizza Mamma

While out and about in the Providence area, I decided to check out a local favorite pizza spot called Pizza Mamma. Being from the greater Metro Detroit area, I have a high standard and a love for the Detroit style pizza that has been ingrained since childhood. Pizza Mama delivered a solid and tasty effort, but not without some issues. The Pizza was supposed to come with extra pepperoni, and while topping amount is subjective, this didn't really seem to have it. The amount is pretty standard for what you would get anywhere just ordering one topping. Also, the cheese used was minimal. If you've had good Detroit style, I would estimate their pizza to be about 1/2 the cheese you'd normally have on this style of pie. In the future I'd order extra cheese here, but then the diner is incurring additional costs on an already novelty priced pizza. Those criticisms aside, it was a tasty pizza that didn't entirely disappoint. It just didn't quite hit that top notch Detroit pizza experience either, and there's a lot better out there. I will say though, they do have some delicious homemade cookies.

Dry flavorless pizza... like cardboard. Will not be ordering from them again. Would rather frozen boxed pizza!

This place is great ... you can tell not too much has changed since the 1970's and unintentional…read moreretro/vintage is my thing. This place could be so perfect with only a couple small changes! - There are white flourescent style lights on the ceiling. This really kills the vibe. It's almost like the top of the restaurant and the bottom don't match. You have cozy, 70's style wood paneling with dark wooden booths and stained glass lights hanging over the tables. Warm, cozy and intimate. Then, bright white lights above. I'd love to eat here with those bright lights turned off sometime. - Probably not economical but red checkered tablecloths, like vintage Italian restaurants used to have would make this place look like a movie set in a good way. That being said, everything else about this place is cool ... you know a good spot by how many regulars are there and everyone seemed to know everyone else by name on a Tuesday night. It wasn't crowded ... but it wasn't empty on an off-night. - The staff is exceptionally good. The waitress and hostess couldn't have been any sweeter and more helpful. Fast refills on the soft drinks and helpful without being intrusive. - The pizza is good. I have to admit, I am not sold on the cheddar cheese vs. mozzarella. I thought it would give the cheese an interesting, sharper taste but it seemed a bit bland. I will do the Italian-style next time with mozzarella. I liked my pizza but there was just something different about it. The crust is Greek-style ... kind of like the old Pizza Hut, when it was actually made fresh. Back in the 1980's and 90's there was nothing better than a golden, buttery light and crisp pizza crust from Pizza Hut, before the brand went to shit. This reminds me of that goodness of 1980's pizza crust. I'm not a thin crust guy ... but if you are, they have a thinner crust on the menu as well. Topping was good, maybe a bit spicier pepperoni would be a bit better ... toppings are a tad expensive for a few slices of pepperoni. A 3-topping pizza adds around $5. The small is good for two-people with light/moderate appetites. I wouldn't be able to eat a small and a salad by myself. Speaking of the salad ... one of the best regular house salads I've ever had. The dressing is amazing ... tangy, salty, perfectly done. I know it's hard to get all worked up over a standard Italian dressing but often the simplest things in cooking are the hardest to get right ... and they get the dressing right! Also, the lettuce was super fresh and the tomatoe slices were as well. The only issue I had was there was no 'side salad' version. There was a 'small' salad for around $8 ... but that could easily feed 2 - 4 people. Overall, this place gets just about everything right. It doesn't change or modernize. It's portions are great ... the food is very good ... prices maybe a bit high compared to other spots ... but you can tell they don't cut corners and everything is freshly made. The bar is where I'd want to sit normally ... but the seats are very close together and I didn't want to be elnow to elbow with strangers, so I snagged a small booth, which was also fine. The customers seemed nice ... but they all seemed very 'Cranston'. If they could deal with the lighting situation and make it less bright, I'd eat here 2 times per week. You can't beat a classic ... and this place is a classic.

I came in for RI food fights and got to pick three toppings for a small pizza. I went with eggplant, chicken and black olives. It was amazing! Honestly I have enough food for the rest of the week! I didn't get my servers name but she was subbing for a sick bartender and she was great! I enjoyed chatting with her. She got me in and out as quickly as she could before my dance class and I greatly appreciated that! Everyone that worked there was super friendly and attentive. I wish i was in less of a rush to have taken in even more. The spot has an old time feel but in the best way possible. It just felt like home. I can't wait to go back for more Italian goodies!

Because I know about this little hidden gem already, I was driving home after a long day and I wasn't going to pass it without stopping. This is what I'd call emotional support pizza. Not a pilgrimage. Not a revelation. Just a really solid pie from a place that knows what it's doing and doesn't need to make a fuss about it. Pepperoni and black olive for me today. The crust had that chew you want, cooked through, some golden brown color on the bottom. The sauce was rich tomato with garlic running underneath the cheese, present enough to know it's there without fighting for attention. The olives were generous and distributed like someone thought about where they landed, not just dropped from a height. The pepperoni is cupped and charred slightly at the edges. The toppings-to-cheese ratio was right. It arrived fast and it arrived hot. This is what a revered neighborhood pizza place is supposed to be. Maria's does it. It's primarily takeout, four tables, busy foot traffic in and out the whole time I was there. They do good business and they know what their business is. I sat down anyway because I tend to be an iconoclast, and it was a fine visit. If you live nearby, you already know about this place. If you don't, that's between you and your neighborhood. Maybe you should move.
