This is the best pizza I have ever tasted. I live in Buffalo but visited my father in Lockport every weekend when I was a child. We would get pizza oven pizza all the time, for every birthday party and just simply because I would come there on the weekends. He has moved from Lockport over 27 years ago but I still have to come to Lockport every once in awhile just to get that pizza. Now my kids absolutely love it and I try to go once every few months to get a sheet and bring it home. It's a taste you will never forget and I'm so happy they've kept it the same all these years. Wouldn't get their pizza every time, but once every 6 months or so, the thin crust (makes me think of eastern New York thin crust I grew up eating) is really good. The sweet sauce is unique, the toppings are excellent (I hate sausage pellets and much prefer sliced or ground sausage). If you're in Lockport, you owe it to yourself to give this a try. If you're a fan of sweet sauce, then this is the place for you. Their pizza is so awesome. I love that they're not skimpy on the toppings either. This place can get a little crowded, but it's worth the hassle. Wings are good here too, but I really come here for their pie. Now. The only reason I deducted a star was because if you order regular pie instead of a sheet they cut it weird. The pizza is in a circle and instead of just cutting it as regular triangle slices or squares they seem to zig zag up and down it randomly, and they never fully cut through it. So what you end up with is some cuts that are really really tiny, and others that are lopsided giants lol I've always had to take a knife to finish cutting through it as well, which is annoying and messy, but -- hey -- the pizza's that good I will put aside my laziness. Once in a while, though, they also burn the pizza, so just check it before you leave. I don't advise getting anything else but cheese / pep... the less toppings the better. Their stomboli is also the best around... but not for those who are afraid of grease! Yum! My friend ordered this for a get together we were having and I was very impressed! The sauce is so sweet and tangy. I didn't actually see the interior of Pizza Oven, but the taste of the pizza is good enough for me. I wouldn't necessarily call this the best pizza out there, but I think it's pretty good for our area. Growing up in Lockport there were two pizza places out of the hundreds of pizza joints around that everyone flocked to and Pizza Oven was one of them. The sauce is sweet, the pepperoni gets a little burnt around the edges and its sooooo good. If in Lockport give this old local favorite a try. read more

I grew up in Gasport and grew up eating this pizza. Their sweet sauce is unique and I've never found anything as good. It's obvious before you go there that they have a sweet pizza sauce so if you don't like that, don't bring down their rating by giving them 1 or 2 stars. It's Buffalo-style pizza, in that it's baked in a pan rather than directly on the stone, and uses a bit thicker crust than NYC style. What sets Pizza Oven apart and makes it both special and amazing is how sweet the sauce is. I'm not talking about the sort of mild sweetness you usually get from normal Buffalo pizza joints - I'm talking so sweet that the edges where the sauce lops over the pan don't get burned - they caramelize. Lockport is my hometown and whenever I come back to visit, Pizza Oven is a must. There are several pizza places in Lockport, but this is by far the best! Absolutely terrible service. I ordered for delivery and when the delivery guy got here, he only had half my order. Mistakes happen, so I was cool with it - he said he was going to "go back and get the food." I told him to call me and update me. 30 minutes pass and nothing, so I call Pizza Oven and ask what's going on. The woman on the phone was extremely rude and dismissive to me, and tells me they have no idea what I'm talking about. Then she says she "guesses" he'll be back with my chicken fingers. So I thank her and hang up. 20 minutes pass and nothing. I call the delivery guy and it goes to his voicemail which is full so I can't even leave a message. So I decide to go to Pizza Oven and ask for a refund or partial refund. Without even apologizing for the situation in any way shape or form, they just tell me there's absolutely nothing they can do. To spend 30 bucks on this is the take-out let down of the year. Completely atrocious service, and the food isn't even good anymore. Sp gross. I've hated them since I first tried them as a child. Not a fan of the sweet sauce or the cup of grease pepperoni. Unfortunately tonight we had to order in and we're limited to delivery or walking since my husband is working late and had to take my car. Since I despise their pizza we decided to get fish fries. Upon grabbing them and getting the boxes open we see we got no coleslaw. Not sure why we didn't get it, if they were out they could have at least alerted us or discounted it. We were left with just fish and fries. The cocktail sauce and tarter sauce cups are a joke, they are smaller than a shot glass, for an entire piece of fish you'd need like 4. My daughter tried the tarter sauce and started gagging saying it tastes like medicine. Okay in the trash that went. So I open the cocktail sauce and get a gelatinous jello shot looking thing. The fried and fish were mediocre and NOT WORTH $10+ a piece. You get way more and better quality at any other pizza place in Lockport. I don't know how this place is still open. Their parking lot is also annoying. There is constantly kerfuffles going on since their lot can fit like 3 cars so people just park on the street and screw up traffic. That coupled with potholes and a sinkhole that's been there since Christmas, you are guaranteed to damage your car and/or be held up trying to drive past. read more

Everyone from Lockport raves about the pizza at Pizza Oven. They have a couple of names they will give you to go to. This is one of them. I picked up a few pizzas and wings for a party a few weeks back and the service was great. The price beat any pizza place out there and the wings were delicious. Everyone chowed down on that pizza and raved about it. Personally, I think the sauce is too sweet - but that is my own opinion. After getting pizza for years at a Pizza Oven in Niagara Falls, I mistakenly thought this was the same business. Boy were we wrong. After spending a night in the bathroom for both my husband and I, I feel I need to write this review. I have never in my life tasted such deplorable pizza in my life (including cardboard frozen from the store). Not only was there very little sauce on the pizza, the dough was still quite raw, but the pepperoni was almost burnt. Even our dog would not eat it. Sweet & Gooey The first question I'm commonly asked when people hear I've moved to Lockport is, "Do you live near Pizza Oven?" They have the best sweet sauce in town and the wings are above average for a local joint. The place is mythical, I'm not sure if there is a menu, they are never open on Sundays (even for the superbowl!) Not open until 4pm on weekdays, but once the oven is hot you're golden. If it is not yet hot you are likely to get undercooked crust with singed edges. This pizza goes flat at the ends, no high crust edges. There is usually a tray of cheese and pepperoni or a stromboli out for walk-ins. The parking on Vine near East Ave. can feel like a game of tetris near dinner time. I have gotten into Pizza Oven vs Lock City arguments, but walk or drive if the oven's hot and their game is on this is some of the best pizza around. read more

Love the oven. It's a sentimental thing. I get my pizza well done because my family is from Newfane and we like things well done. People say the sauce has changed, but it hasn't. My brother worked there for years and his friend John took over the place. The sauce is the same as always. I believe that was the sticking point for him buying the place.
