Let me start off by saying that I'm disappointed that I have to write this one-star review. Up until today, these guys were my "go to" pizza joint. Unfortunately service has been gradually getting worse and, after my last experience, I've had enough. My order seemed to be simple. A large pizza and 12 wings. "It'll be 40-45 minutes" the gentleman on the other side of the phone replied. So I hunkered in to watch the results of the election roll in. After some time passed I looked up and noticed that it had been 55 minutes and no pizza. So I decided to call the restaurant and check on the status. "It'll be there in 5-10 minutes" so hung up and waited. Ten minutes later still no pizza. Call #2..."we had a guy call in and we're running behind. It'll be there in five minutes". Another 15 minutes and STILL no pizza. Initiate call #3. After expressing my frustration the gentleman reassured me that the pizza was on its way and apologized for the delay. He ended the call by saying that he "would take care of me on my next order" and apologized one more time. Minutes later the driver called to let me know that he was at my place. The pizza wasn't hot but it wasn't cold however there was no way that I was going to wait any longer to eat. Fast forward to today, I was feel peckish and in the mood for a pizza so I thought I'd give them another shot. After calling and making my order, I told the gentleman on the phone that I should have some sort of note from my previous order indicating that I should be "taken care of" but, alas, no such note existed. I told the guy on the phone about my previous experience and his reply was "sorry, there's nothing in your account so the best I can do is just make sure it gets to you on time." I responded with "thank you but I'll find another place to get my pizza." This was a very long way to say that their pizza is good but service is horrible. I won't be going back. read more

Tried Pizza Pie December 16, looking for something different from our usual pizza joint (Verdugo's). What a disappointment. When we arrived and asked for the order that we had called in, they looked at us with something approaching confusion and disbelief. Then they messed up the order-- one pepperoni large and one sausage large turned into one pepperoni large and a mushroom large. We checked the pizza in clear view of the cashier and they looked at us like they were hoping we wouldn't say anything, and we were hungry, so we let it slide. Don't bother trying to use their Yelp deal unless you mention it far in advance-- the cashier hadn't finished the purchase or even swiped the card, but claimed it was too late. But by far the worst part was that the pepperoni pizza was horrendous. The bottom was dark brown and oily, and some of the cheese on the top looked discolored, as if the pizza were old and had been reheated too many times. I guess I should finally write a review for this little spot we've been ordering pizza from almost weekly since we discovered it a few months ago. It's great! very consistent. We only moved to the neighborhood about 18 months ago and had been looking for good pizza delivery. We settled for George's in Kenneth Villiage and then one day a friend came over and found this place on Postmates and had ordered a few pies (don't order through a service, just call them!) and since then, we have been ordering here. I prefer this over the pace in Kenneth Village. They make very good pizzas and the last few times I called them for delivery, they came much faster than the time that they quoted me. read more

Pizza. Generally I don't think many places in California do a good job. I don' know why this is. New York, killer pizza. In Italy itself, not like American pizza at all and doesn't look like anything special, but look out, they know how to make killer pizza. Ok so that said, the pizza is fine at Pizza Pie Eatery. The toppings are fairly generous and flavorful and the crust is fair to slightly better. No home run but not bad. The reason I give four instead of three stars is the delivery is quite fast. I had their Deluxe Pizza. I'm not a fan of olives so i got some spinich in it's place. Damn did that hit the spot. Very solid pizza. What put this place over the top was the service. The gentleman who took my order was there to answer any questions and made sure that my order was perfect. You can kind of see the guy making your pizzas, which is cool. Overall, this is a very solid place or get pizza from and if I'm ever looking to cheat on my Paleo diet, I'd consider stopping back in. One final thing to note. I would recommend getting delivery. Great little neighborhood pizza joint! The 'slice' in the 3.99 slice and soda special is actually a good sized individual pizza shaped like a triangle. If it wasn't for Groupon, I'm afraid I would have never tried or heard of this pizza joint. I jumped on the Groupon opportunity since it was a good deal AND it was right in my neighborhood. Tip: If you're using a Groupon, you will not be able to order online. They took my take-out order over the phone and initially gave me a take-out special discount. After notifying them that I had a Groupon, they took it out. I can't complain cause it was $20 off for $40 worth of pizza! The sizes are incredible! We ordered the XL and it was definitely XL! You can't go wrong with margherita pizza, but it was not a favorite here. The Meat Lover's is the way to go! Delicious!
