My family and I have been dining here since the restaurant opened 25 years ago. Not all experiences have have been good but then again nothing that bothered us to much. However last night I am there for a 6:30pm with my wife, sister and brother in law(ie; my sister is in a wheelchair). The restaurant just employed a new reservation system which you would think be a great tool to manage their reservations at the restaurant level. Unfortunately they are getting worst. We show up at 6:25pm and advised our table is being cleared and set-up. In the interim other guests are checking in and being seated. After 15 minutes I started to inquire where is our table. Even the owner, who knows me, says he will check on it but never returns to advise. I finally started just asking directly to the hostess once again when do you plan to seat us and the hostess says "maybe in 30 minutes". This was said after it was already 6:50pm for a 6:30pm reservation. Naturally we left as I couldn't be confident that anyone there knew what they were doing. It was like the clowns were running the circus. I callled another restaurant that was very busy but they accommodated us timely as promised when I called them. After 25 years I doubt that I will ever go back to Pizzaioli again. They are unreliable and getting worst. Their food has always been good but certainly not great. I was a good loyal customer that always tipped well and drank good wine which they like to sell more than their food. If this is their best then time for me to move on and if others want to condone average food at inflated prices with spotty at best service then good luck as you found the right spot. read more

My fiancé and I recently moved to Chino Hills and found this gem. We began dinner with warm bread and delicious bruschetta, along with a calamari appetizer. For the main course, we had an Italian Sausage pizza which is topped with a generous amount of sausage, spinach, heirloom tomatoes, and garlic! Our server was down to earth and provided us with stellar customer service. Pizzaioli is our new favorite restaurant and we look forward to trying other items on the menu. Salud! read more

It felt like a close mom pop owned restaurant I wanted to try. I came to understand that If you're a regular, you get treated better than if you're an outsider or if it's your first time. I tried the Cioppino. It was very disappointing, super salty, could not enjoy it. Even after squeezing two full lemons on it, it didn't help much. I only had two bites. I thought of having them take it back and order something else but they took a long time to get us our food the first time, I ended up sharing a ceaser salad instead. My wife and I have eaten here for years, pretty much since we moved to the Chino/Chino Hills area. We have our favorite dishes that we order routinely but, while on the higher end (cost wise), the consistency of the dishes and the FREE bread and bruschetta were enough to keep us coming back. We went there tonight and that place was near empty! Well, I have to say that the FREE bruschetta and bread will now set you back $3.00. I know, I know...it doesn't seem like much, but I can only imagine that this change will be enough to keep some people from going back. We've had some other experiences of poor service and favorite dishes tasting not as spot on as the previous time we ordered it, but we always chalked it up to different/new wait staff or cooks in the kitchen. Bottom line....Food is good but some of the dishes seem overpriced for what it is. Very disappointed with the $3 bruschetta ad bread. We were really excited to have dinner here after being told about this place by a friend. My girlfriend and I stopped in for what we thought was going to be a nice dinner. Unfortunately what we experienced was an just an average meal that was greatly over priced. I'm all for fine dining, but come on? This place is in a shopping center in Chino. Walked in to the restaurant which was a nice setting for it being in Chino. We were seated at a small table. Not a lot of people were in the restaurant. Ambiance was a very nice and cozy, romantic setting. We were seated at a small table for two near a very nicely decorated Christmas tree and greeted by our waitress Madison who was very nice and sweet. We were promptly served a basket of warm bread and bruschetta. Our drink order consisted of two glasses of Duckhorn cab ($18) a glass after $2 off for happy hour. They have a nice menu with a pretty good selection. In the mood for a tasty salmon dish, we selected the seafood risotto ($28) and asked that the ink squid be swapped for salmon ( +$12 on top on the cost, which we learned upon receiving our bill). We asked for a split portion (+$6) and we added a side of grilled Brussel sprouts ($8). Our dish arrived nicely plated and presented. The Brussel sprouts were over salted but ended up being the best tasting. The risotto and salmon were barely warm and bland. After our meal we decided on having the creme brûlée ($9) and a glass of port ($12) each. When our bill was presented, I noticed the +$12 had been added on top of the $28 price for the seafood risotto. When I pointed this out both the chef and manager advised the salmon was more than the ink squid. I pointed out we didn't have the ink squid with the salmon and I was told it was an error in their system and I was offered a slice of cake to pacify my grievance. I left feeling like I was shaken down for an extra $12 bucks. Even though it's not a lot of money, it is the principle of the matter. Pizzaiolli isn't about the customer, they're about what they can shake you down for. read more

I went to Pizzaioli a couple of weeks ago - my first time back since the pandemic started. I normally eat out a lot, and I'm a fairly good cook myself, so I can appreciate the difference between good and not-so-good food. I've been really trying to be understanding of restaurants at the moment due to the difficulty of getting employees who want to go into work right now. I went on a Tuesday because I always loved their vegetable soup and salad with house-made blue cheese dressing, and it's always been a great late lunch / early dinner for me. Let me start by saying that the service was great, and I made sure to take care of my server because she'd taken good care of me in spite of some problems, which were as follows: * Overcooked vegetables in a bland vegetable soup (I asked for a little grated parm to try to make it taste better and got a tasteless parm powder that actually made the soup taste worse). They said they grated it fresh every day, but I don't remember it being like that before. * VERY thin blue cheese dressing with no blue cheese in it. I always ask them to skip all the mozzarella and just give me 2 sides of the dressing. It was so thin I had to ask for a third container of it. I've never had to do that before - *anywhere*. I made sure I took care of my check and my server before asking to speak to the manager, because my general rule of thumb is 1) Is it something they can fix? and 2) Is it something I would want to know if I were the manager? The manager politely listened to what I had to say, but I could tell she was bothered by it. She then told me they had the same chef they'd had for years (which is possible, but either they have a new chef back there or they're forcing constraints on their old chef which are compromising the quality of the food). She did also manage to insert something about people having their own "opinions" about the food, which I confess bothered me a little bit because it really wasn't about my opinions. It's true that it's my opinion that the food wasn't up to par, but it was a fact that the vegetables were soft and overcooked and that the blue cheese dressing was much, much thinner than it used to be and that it had no blue cheese in it. And I really wasn't asking anything from her, I just wanted to let them know that the difference was noticeable and, although I understand there are some difficulties right now, that I hope they'll be able to correct them soon so they can keep all their clientele. And I do hope that they're able to do that for their sake, not for mine. There really are lots of places that I enjoy eating and can still go to. This just used to be one of them, and it's really just not right now. I'll try them again in a few months when (hopefully) things are more "back to normal." I wasn't going to post anything about my food experience on Yelp, but I'm seeing some other poor recent reviews on here, and I'm hoping that my feedback will get to the right person so they can see the issues from the customer's perspective. It's a great spot for a great price. The food is well made. Some of the dishes are a bit oily, but that's how they're made I'm assuming. This would be 5 stars, but there were a ton of gnats Indoors. Also the alcohol is stored in racks and the racks are locked up, so that says something about the area. read more

Also ordered a caesar salad but was served with a mixture of cabbage and spring? And the Caesar dressing tasted like mayo ? Also no Parmesan cheese ? My brother and I grew up on homemade Italian food, and have been searching for the longest time for an Italian restaurant in the Chino/Ontario/Riverside area that is independently owned and worth coming back to. We found Pizzaoli via word of mouth, and I'll just say, we are checking this place off the list of places to never come back to. I honestly don't know how this place stays in business. The food here was on the low end of mediocre and way, way overpriced. My brother and I ordered an antipasti starter which was very small for two people and cost a whopping $17 right out of the gate. Our side salads were $10 each and consisted of bib lettuce, tomatoes and a ton of cheese on top. The house dressing was literally just oil and balsamic vinegar mixed together. The salad came with what appeared to be a cut up loaf of cold, soft Wonderbread, that we could dip in oil or add butter to. If we ate that we could get an extra basket of low-budget bread for $3. Still, completely starving after the tiny salad and starter we both ordered the Chicken with peppers...sigh. My Italian grandmother was rolling over in her grave as I ate this meal, which was about less than once ounce of what I believe was peppers, less than half a breast of chicken, and a deluge of Alfredo sauce. This entree was pretty much the quality of an Italian entree I could get at Norms for $16, only it was $27. Did I mention that a soda is almost $4? Yes. I get that this place prides itself on being an upscale Italian restaurant with prices to match, which I am ok with paying if the food is also high quality. However, I could literally get comparable food at Olive Garden for about half the price. Our total bill for two people came out to over $100...for basically a meal that was pasta and sauce. The food was good, service was just okay and price is high. I use to come here for happy hour and dinner all the time but stopped after a few disappointing meals. I was meeting a friend for lunch and decided to give it another try. It was Thursday afternoon so I was surprised there was an event that reserved the entire bar & front seating are. I like that area so I was disappointed. Our seating choice was limited to the dinning area or patio. We sat in the dining area which is more formal and quiet. The service was good and friendly until the event started and our server became scarce. The special of a squash filled ravioli in a cream sauce was delicious. The house Italian red wine was good. I always love the bread and bruschetta. There was no one in the dinning area so they didn't mind that we sat and talked for a couple hours which was nice. It is s bit pricey. Especially for lunch. The two ravioli dishes, two glasses of wine and tip was just over $90.00! Maybe I'll come back for happy hour next time. The prices are better then. I love you guys, but you need to retool your lunch menu. I had the PZ salad with chicken and a small Pellegrino and it was $30 with tip I am afraid to say!!! Please consider offering a smaller entree with a small house salad in the $13-15 range. Otherwise I cannot justify this expense for a solo lunch. I can get a killer bento box sashimi lunch for $9.95 elsewhere in Chino Hills. I think if you offered a scaled down lunch menu the traffic would be better. Consistent food quality and service had always been very good. The only thing I don't like is they suggest the tip on the total bill, which includes the taxes, vs the subtotal of the bill which would be the correct about to tip on. we hit them up for brunch on Sunday and it was glorious. We were greeted and sat on their large patio. Well spaced between tables so we didn't feel crowded. Our server was so helpful and friendly. Hostess Service - 1 star HELLO LADY! Will you give us the time of day??? What a horrible way to start of the evening... she was awful, she needs to get fired! I liked the pasta texture here - - not too mushy and not too "al dente". There was a LOT of flavor in their pasta dishes... the portions aren't huuuge, but just the right size. Some of you might like that and some of you not considering the price of these dishes. About $18-20 for most pasta dishes. My friend got their pizza here. Two large slices for $8. I like Papa John's pizza and Domino's pizza better! Oh I also like the frozen pizzas you buy at supermarkets better. Does that say enough about their pizza? Ambiance - 2 stars It seemed a little shoddy to me. I thought the wallpaper and decorations were kind of tacky and suffocating. The lights are really dim so I guess it does give it a romantic feel. I liked how right when you walk in you see this entire wall filled with wines of all sorts. You shouldn't have a problem ordering the wine of your choice with your pasta dish. The past few months my family has been ordering food, and I would go pick it up after work. The last 8 orders that I've had to deal with have been incorrect. Every single time. It's been a disaster. We ordered tonight, and my food had multiple pieces of hair in it. So close to throwing up after I took a bite and got a piece in my mouth. Absolutely disgusting. I let the other problems pass because I understand how ordering can get hectic, but this is absolutely disgusting. I don't think I can ever eat here again. Came here for a nice Sunday lunch and found out they had $5 mimosas and Bloody Mary all day. It was quite empty when we walked in, and since no was attending us, we sat at the bar. They were quite understaffed and slow for the entire time we were there. On the wall, there is an extensive whiskey selection and the beers on tap are all IPA. I had a mimosa since I had too much recently, and it was like orange juice with a bit of champagne in it. I really don't know why I get those sometimes, and why I don't carry a flask around. We had to ask for bruschetta since they forgot to give us bread, and I dunno, maybe after making my own bruschetta, this one is just really salty and okay for me. The tomatoes were ripe and sweet and the bread reminded me of Di Pilla's in Rosemead, but this was a traditional loaf. I do like the bread, but just wish it were warm. I had the Chicken Tortellini al forno since the photos on Yelp looked pretty good. It was pretty dry and the tortellini were too al dente for me. Chicken breast was made pretty well and was moist.This had bits of jalapeno in it and so the taste was more prominent. He had the Vino Bianco, which had the same sauce as mine, but wasn't as spicy, more of like a soup and the flavor was perfect. I pretty much didn't even touch my dish and started drinking all the sauce from his plate with a spoon. It was very rich in seafood flavor and had a hint of white wine. The seafood itself was good as well. He came back at night with friends and one of them had ordered the same thing I had and I was told that it looked completely different. Oh well, guess it was a lunch fluke. Either way, an okay place. I might be back again, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price. read more

I ordered a $120 lasagna for my family and I to be ready by 7pm. When I brought the lasagna home it was FROZEN. Not one employee told me when I called that they sold the lasagna's frozen with no instructions on how to bake it. If I knew that, I would have ordered it an hour earlier because baking it took about 40 min.
